ALLEN -- Shirley Davidson Allen, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, March 27, 2010. She is survived by her two sisters, Margaret D. Lyon and Reba D. Roberson and husband, Coda, all of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews, Camille Myers, Claudia Lyon, Cheryl Touryan, Alice Higbie, Kathleen Willadsen, O'Lynne Nation, Karl Thomas, Dava Ong, Corvin Thomas, Neva Coffee and Tamela Thomas; great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dean Allen; brother, Elvyn Davidson who was killed in WWII; sister, Laura Nation; and a dear friend, Art De Bolder. She was born on July 18, 1923 in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High in 1940. Shirley attended UNM for a while before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1944. After her honorable discharge from the Marines, she married Dean Allen and lived in California until after his death. Shirley moved back to Albuquerque in 1990. She was a member of Hoffmantown Church, Cosmopolitan Women's Club, and several other clubs and organizations. Shirley loved to dance and had a great love for all dogs. She was the most generous and sweetest person and her smile would just light up a room. Shirley was a loving sister and aunt and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Hoffmantown Church, Small Chapel, 8888 Harper Rd. NE, Thursday, April 1, 2010, 10:00 a.m. Private interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery. BERGER -- Jack L. Berger, 67, passed away at his home on March 26, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen Templeton-Berger; his sons, Christopher, Gareth, Evan, Loren and Chase; his mother, Dorothy M. CLAYTON -- Bernard E. (Eddie) Clayton, a resident of Albuquerque for 65 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Lovelace Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1934 in Effingham, Illinois. He attended Highland High School in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister, his oldest son, and his oldest daughter. Eddie resided at the Albuquerque Grand Retirement Center for the last four years prior to his death, where he enjoyed playing poker with other residents, and telling stories to all who would listen. Eddie is survived by three daughters, Cindy Burr, Chris Clayton and husband, Steve Sanchez, and Sandy Gonzales and husband, Gary; and one son, Charlie Clayton, all of Albuquerque. Eddie also leaves behind nine grandchildren. The family would like to express our warmest gratitude to the staff of Vista Care Hospice and Dr. Patricia Morrow, M.D., for the extraordinary care and kindness they provided our father. In addition, our deepest appreciation to the staff, (the girls, as our Dad called them), at the Albuquerque Grand for the care and love they gave our Dad, each and every day. Without them, the quality of life our Dad experienced would have been severely diminished in his last years. A memorial celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal SE. In lieu of flowers, our dad would have preferred a donation to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico at 415 Virginia SE, ABQ, NM 87108.

COUNTS -- Sidney Amos Counts, 83, of Albuquerque died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born to the late Joel Minor and Agnes (Young) Counts in Hale Center, Texas. Sidney, a decorated U.S. Navy WW II veteran was an avid camper and enjoyed reading and auto repair. He was predeceased by a brother, Joel Counts; two sisters, Edith Leaverton and Thelma Mahan. Survivors include his son, David Counts of Albuquerque; two daughters, Darlah Yancey and husband, Hank of Rio Rancho and Donna Cummings and husband, Phillip of Albuquerque; grandchildren, David Counts, Jr., Sidney Counts, Samuela Gatewood, Joel Yancey, Brandon, Shaun and Benjamin Cummings, Emily and Zack Counts; numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave. SE (842-8800). GILLOGLY -- James E. Gillogly, passed away March 29th, 2010. James was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years Louise M. Gillogly He is survived by his children, Gregory James Gillogly of Albuquerque, Kathleen L. Peter of Albuquerque, Timothy K. Gillogly and his wife Mary Gillogly of Spring Texas; grandaughters, Jackie and Emily Peter of Albuquerque; grandson, Gabriel Gillogly of Humboldt CA. Jim was a member of the United States Air force and the U.S. Marines Corps., where he proudly served his country. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jim was a natural born Salesman and loved people. He could strike up a conversation with anybody and usually did. Jim was a huge fan of big band music and quite the dancer. After retirement he and wife Louise spent time traveling and enjoyed playing BINGO on a regular basis. GOMEZ -- Michael P. Gomez, 37, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on March 27, 2010. Michael is survived by his parents, Mike and Frances Gomez; his fiance Angela and their son, Noah; his daughters, Sabrina, Marissa, Savannah, Michaela and their mother, Genevieve; his siblings, Paul J. HATCHER -- Victor E. Hatcher, age 86, of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010. Victor served his country as a US Marine during WWII in the Pacific Theatre of Command. He worked for many years as a general contractor in Albuquerque. KLOEPFER -- George Allen Kloepfer, 80, a long time resident of Albuquerque was born in Barrington, Illinois on March 22, 1930 and passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at Albuquerque's Manzano del Sol's Health Care Facility. LACOURSE -- Carolyn E. LaCourse, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert M. LaCourse Sr.; son, Robert Jr.; grand daughter, Maranda. She is survived by her children; two daughters, Laura McDowell and husband, Terry, and Margaret Roose; one son, Frank LaCourse and her daughter-in-law, Sharon; grandchildren, Lynnette, Jean-Paul, Leilani, Felicia, Jasmine and Chance; great-grandchildren, Alex and Connor. MCDONALD -- Howard "Bud" McDonald, 80, born November 30, 1929 passed away March 27, 2010 peacefully in his beloved rocking red recliner. He served in the Air Force from from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed in Korea during this time. He moved to Albuquerque in 1960 where he started his own business, Custom Pools. He returned to his first love and taught Physical Education in APS for 30 years. During his many years in New Mexico he also worked for the COA Parks and Recreation Dept., enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends, word working, tinkering, golfing and family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, granddad, brother, uncle, golf buddy, teacher,and friend. He is survived by his wife Mickey; son Eric and wife Danielle; daughter Malia and husband Greg; grandchildren Kent, Shalyn and Jalen; sister Shirley Brown of Riverside, CA. and her four children and their families. MOORE -- Barbara Moore, 89, Lt. in the Army during WWII, and resident of Albuquerque since July 1958, died March 27, 2010. Barbara was born in Pfeifer, Kansas and is survived by her husband Stanley. They celebrated 63 years of marriage in October 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and three sisters. Three of her four brothers saw service in WWII and returned safely. She is further survived by one sister, Armella Goesch of Liberal, Kansas. Having graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas in 1944, she entered the service as an Army nurse. After serving a short tour in the United States, she was assigned to the Army Hospital in Berlin, Germany. There, she met her husband who was on duty with Hq Berlin District. They were married on October 19, 1946 and became the first American military to be married in Berlin after WWII. They celebrated their honeymoon in Paris and the French Riviera. It was discovered in January 1947 that no married female in the service could serve and therefore she was separated in January 1947 as a First Lieutenant. While accompanying her husband in the service, Barbara was found to have been an excellent hostess, and she had the unusual knack in saying the right thing that would put any individual at ease. She had no trouble in making friends with anyone. During their marriage, they enjoyed traveling and visited all fifty states and twenty countries. Barbara and Stanley arrived in Albuquerque in July 1958. Cremation has already taken place. PITT -- Stewart William Pitt, 87, a resident of various places in New Mexico since 1968, died March 20, 2010. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma E. Pitt. He is survived by his children, Susan Bollinger of San Antonio, Texas, Arlene Hopper of Vega, Texas, and Kathleen Pitt of Tijeras, New Mexico ; grandchildren, Jimbo Williams of Quemado, New Mexico and Debbie Testa of Syracuse, Utah; great-grandchild, Dylan Testa of Syracuse, Utah. Stewart served in the US Navy on the USS Barry during World War II. After WWII, he began his career with AT&T and retired from AT&T in 1979. He will be dearly missed. QUINTANA -- Mary Lou Quintana went home with Our heavenly Father on Monday, March 29, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joe Quintana; sons, Gilbert and wife Sandra, Jerry and wife Ida, Leonard and wife Mary Alice and Johnny; six grandchildren, Jenika, James, Jovan, John Christopher, Frankie and Daniel; one great-grandson Frankie Jr. Angelo; sisters, Lorraine Garduno, Maggie Lucero, Alice Chavez, Sally Garduno, Diana Chavez, Lillian Garcia, Georgina Garduno; and brother Raymond Garduno. She was preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Frances Garduno; sister Helen Garduno; and brothers, Tony and Lorenzo Garduno. Mary Lou will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services are being held by Riverside Runeral Homes. Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. followed by funeral mass at 9:00. RUTHERFORD -- Catherine Elizabeth Rutherford lived from November 21, 1909, until March 27, 2010. The youngest of nine children, she was born in Iowa and made her home there until moving to Albuquerque in 1976. She and her husband were happily married for 56 years. Her interests centered around church, family, and friends. At church, her special mission was Christian education for children. From teaching Sunday school as a teenager, her responsibilities grew to being State Chairman for Christian Education for her denomination. After moving to Albuquerque, she continued to serve and express her faith as a Bible studies leader at La Vida Llena. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Twedt Rutherford, daughter, Kathleen Jungling, and two grandchildren. She is survived by two children, Jeanine Carithers and John Rutherford; nine grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly and prayed for daily. Catherine loved people. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking for family and friends, and knitting gifts. She had a seemingly endless repertoire of games to play with children of all ages. Her loving and generous nature and abiding faith have inspired all who have known her.

He is also survived by his sister Josie Brown and husband Harold of San Angelo, TX; and his first wives brothers, Frank Farrow and wife Virginia of Midland, TX and James Farrow and wife Shirley of Livingston, TX and many other family and friends. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Beverly; and his daughter Patricia. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 40 years before retiring, was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, the Ballut Abyad Shrine, was active in the Baptist church as teacher and music director at one time and several other community organizations. Graveside Services will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11:30 am, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Visitation will be private. STIVERS -- Lysah, D. Stivers (born Lisa Dawn Dike): Born in Albuquerque, NM on May 21, 1971, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010. She was a graduate of Valley High School and attended college in Albuquerque and in Galesburg, Illinois. She was married to the love of her life and best friend, Bill Stivers, and was mother to a son, Brandon David Stivers. She is also survived by her extended family: her Dad, Bob Dike and his wife Elizabeth; her mother Regan Swinehart and husband Steve; her step-brother Shem Griffin; and step-sister Azure Griffin; her fraternal grandmother Margaret Dike; and her maternal grandfather, Bob Ramberg. She will also be missed by aunts, uncles, her family-in-law, and cousins and friends too numerous to list. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Daniels Funeral Home, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Lysah is an organ donor, and because of her gift of life, three people will get another chance to thrive. We will miss her and remember her forever, and we are all very proud of her generous gifts to us and to all of the people she has loved in her short life. SWIGGER -- Nancy Louise Duncan Swigger May 18, 1942 - March 22, 2010, died suddenly in Seattle, WA where she moved to in 2004. She spoke many languages and was a talented and multifaceted artist. She is survived by her two daughters, Jocelyn Swigger Kovaleski of Gettysburg, PA and Elizabeth Loneta Swigger of Colorado Springs, CO; and her two brothers, Robert Duncan of Los Angeles and John Wm. Duncan II of Albuquerque. A memorial service was held in Seattle at the Youngstown Cultural Center on Friday March 26, 2010. Per her request, donations may be made in her memory to the ACLU, League of Women Voters, American Field Service, or the Arthritis Foundation.

WARD -- Freddie Ward, 88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, was called home to our Heavenly Father, on March 27, 2010. Mr. Ward was born on April 17, 1921 to Henry and Rodessa Ward of Scotlandville, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Yeoman) Ward. He is survived by his children, Gregory Lee Ward of Texas and Barbie Sirmons of Indiana; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Ward Philson. A Memorial Service will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at God's House Church, 2335 Wyoming Blvd NE.
