BRYAN -- Garlan D. Bryan Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 after a long illness. He was born September 12, 1924, in Winona, Mississippi to Garlan Diggs Bryan and Maude Kennedy Bryan. He is survived by Sally L. Bryan, his wife of 63 years; daughter, Carrie and husband, John Atkins of Rio Rancho; sister, Berniece Stanford of Belzoni, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Margaret Hawk and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; niece, Jackie Chama of Eugene, Oregon; nephew, Charles Stanford of Nashville, Tennessee; step-granddaughter Addie Atkins Delahoussaye and husband, Dayne of Houston, Texas; step-grandson, John R. Atkins and wife, Cori of Houston, Texas, and great-grandchildren Lily Delahoussaye, Jane Delahoussaye and Claire Atkins. He was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Joyce Lavelle. Garlan attended the University of Texas, where he played on the varsity tennis team. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the School of Architecture in 1948. Shortly thereafter, he became a partner in the firm of Flatow, Moore, Bryan, and Fairburn of Albuquerque, with branch offices in Phoenix and Colorado Springs. He served as Executive Vice President and CEO when the firm incorporated as Flatow, Moore, Bryan and Associates in 1965. He retired from the firm in 1991, opening an office where he continued to do the work he loved until the summer of 2009. He served as the first president of the Albuquerque Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and taught Architectural Design at the University of Texas and Architectural Professional Practice at the University of New Mexico. He was also active on many advisory boards, and was instrumental in developing the first Handicapped Accessibility Standards for the State of New Mexico. He served as Chairman of the first Uniform Building Code Committee for the City of Albuquerque and the Construction Industry Advisory Committee from 1973 to 1993. He particularly enjoyed serving as a judge for the Associated General Contractors of America Best Building Awards. During his long career he was recognized many times for exemplary performance. Among these were the Architect of the Year Award, Western Mountain Region AIA, 1954; New Mexico Society of Architects Service Award, 1966; Design Excellence Award, College & University Business Magazine, for the UNM College of Education, 1967; New Mexico Society of Architects Award of Honor for the UNM Biology Building, 1970; Albuquerque Chapter AIA Professional Award, 1985; Association of General Contractors SIR Award, 1985; Outstanding Contribution to the New Mexico Memorial of Perpetual Tears; and the prestigious Owens-Corning Energy Conservation Award for the Willow Creek Office Building in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He gave of his talents freely, and contributed many hours of design services without compensation for those in need. Garlan was a fan of classical music, and avid golfer, and lifelong lover of animals. He was past president of the Arabian Horse Association of New Mexico and the New Mexico Horse Council. He also participated in many fundraising activities for the Animal Humane Association, the Children's Peace Statue Project, the American Lung Association, and Walkin' N Circles Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Ranch. Garlan's many talents, unfailing optimism, dry wit, and subtle sense of humor will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at French - University. CORLEY -- Sidney Corley, 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 22, 2010. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW, an avid sports fan, and a loving husband and father. He loved to travel and see new and interesting things. He will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Faith; his children, Jamii, Milissa, Dave, Jeanette, Cherry, and Lonnie; and his brother, Rudy and wife, Francis.

CUELLAR -- Joe E.M. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife, Delfina Cuellar; four children; 11 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and one brother. He is preceded in death by wife, Ella Cuellar and son, Larry Cuellar. Joe loved farming and gardening. He was a proud member of the D.A.V. Joe served in the Pacific Theater and was a recipient of a Bronze Star. Joe will be greatly missed by numerous friends and family. DERR -- Carl G. Derr, 80, a resident of Albuquerque beginning in 1976, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary, of Albuquerque; children, Virginia Stewart and husband, Jack, of Anthony, Texas; Judi Borth and husband, Larry, of Gatesville, Texas; Glenn Derr and wife, Lorie, of Tuscon, Arizona; Constance Derr and the late Harold Norris, of Corrales, New Mexico; and Gary Derr and wife, Christi, of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Travis and Ashley Borth, and James, Maura, Patrick, Bryan and Michael Derr. He is also survived by his nephews Alan, Earl and Lyle Mills, and nieces Sharon San Romani and Pam Langley. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Audra Derr and his two sisters, Elva Mills and Lola Langley. Carl was a 50-plus year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 49. He served numerous terms on the local union's executive board. He began his union affiliation with the sheet metal workers union in the Chicago area, Du Page County, Illinois. In his retirement, he remained active in the union through the local's retiree chapter. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War, which included a tour in Japan. Carl and Mary enjoyed many years of camping, traveling and enjoying the outdoors. Carl was an avid reader of westerns and enjoyed wood working and metal work. GUTHRIE -- Donald Keith Guthrie, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died at home from complications resulting from Parkinson's disease on March 18, 2010. Keith Guthrie grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where his parents were professors at New Mexico State University. He attended Las Cruces High School and New Mexico State University and he received degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and the Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. As a Fulbright Scholar he studied at the University of the Andes, in Bogota, Columbia. Mr. Guthrie served as a Foreign Service Officer with the United States State Department from 1961 until his retirement in 1991. His diplomatic posts included the Philippines, Panama, Indonesia, Saipan, plus numerous assignments in Washington D.C. His last foreign post was as charge' d'affaires in Belize. Keith had a lifelong interest in railroads and after his retirement researched and wrote articles about the logging railroads in Virginia. His other interests included stamp collecting, bird watching, sailing, hiking, playing the piano and clarinet, travel, and languages. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Keith Guthrie is survived by his wife Judy Stanford; his brother Kenneth Guthrie; and his extended family Simon Stanford (London), Nick Stanford (Edinburgh), Andy Stanford (London), Lauren Sawyer (Boulder), Peyton and Brett Sawyer (Albuquerque), and Jonathon Sawyer (Dallas). A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque, 3701 Carlisle Boulevard NE (at intersection with Comanche Road). KELLEY -- Evelina "Evie" Kelley, 86, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 22, 2010. She is survived by her children, sons, Lee Madore and wife Patricia and Wayne Kelley; daughters, Deidra Mancuso and husband Jack and Brenda Arnold and husband Reginald; 12 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren; and her sister, Hildred Willey and husband Donald. Evie was preceded in death by two of her children, son, Gordon Madore and daughter, Janice Samson. She was very involved in the Numismatic World. She was awarded the Great Lady of ANA (American Numismatic Association) award. Evie had a great gift when it came to making friends. She made them instantly and kept them forever. LANG -- Eileen Margaret Lang, born December 21, 1918 to Edward J. and Margaret Burns in Rochester, New York, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Albuquerque. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Col. (ret.) Edmund R. Lang, and the eldest of her four sons, Edmund J. Lang. Eileen is survived by son James R. Lang and his wife, Becky of Santa Cruz, CA; son Thomas G. Lang of Anchorage, AK; son William F. Lang and his wife, Margie of Albuquerque and daughter-in-law, Kathy Lang of Corrales. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Lang and wife, Jen of Santa Cruz, CA, Jessica Lang and her husband, Brian Carter of Santa Cruz, CA, Jamie Lang and her fiance, Jason Cloyes of Albuquerque, Jake and Zach Lang of Corrales, Shawne Blackburn and her husband, Billy of Albuquerque, and Patrick Logan and his wife, Valerie. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, C.J., Haley, and Michael Lang and Courtney Carter, all of Santa Cruz, CA. LUCERO -- Josephine Lucero, born July 3, 1930 in Rowe, NM died after a short illness on Friday, March 19, 2010. She was one of eight children born to Adelaido and Rose McElroy Herrera. Josephine was preceded in death in 2007 by her husband of 58 years, Tony O. Lucero; and by a baby son Thomas Michael Lucero in 1952. She is survived by her son Tony O. Lucero, Jr.; and daughter Patricia Roybal and their spouses Deedra and Robert. She leaves three beloved sisters, Celina Mullins, Emma Maes and husband Juan, and Mary Alice Tarin. As the family matriarch, she was the very proud grandmother of Jennifer Wiggins and husband Brian, Tre Lucero, Travis Lucero and wife Jessica, Carlos Trujillo and Robert Roybal, Jr.; great granchildren Angelica and David Sanchez, Sage and Alexyss Wiggins, Lily Lucero and Ashlynne Lucero, Vanessa and Alaina Trujillo. She cherished her numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and Godchildren, the latest of whom begin a fourth generation. Josephine provided a wonderful home for her family filled with love and the aroma of the best tortillas, "pretty beans" and chile in NM. She was employed for many years at Simon's Western Wear, Sears (downtown) and Cook's Sporting Goods. She retired from the State of NM Child Support Enforcement Division where she brought many a deadbeat dad to his knees. Her family is honoring her request that there be no services "whatsoever". MACCARIO -- Lucretia A. Maccario, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1975, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in Albuquerque. She was born July 26, 1939 in Carlsbad, NM to Fred and Audrey Ash. Lucretia operated her own business, AccuClaims of Albuquerque. She never met a person or a dog that did not become her friend. Lucretia was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Kaelynn Boyd Dixon and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; son, Terry Kincheloe of Holdrege, NE; sisters, Sherri Ferguson and husband, Jimmy and Mary Kay Corn and husband, Robert, all of Roswell; Heather Prather and Agnes (Shugar) Vigil; grand dogs, Bonnie and Clyde Dixon, and Rusty Kincheloe; and other close family and friends. MATTEUCCI -- Mary Ida Matteucci born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on December 8, 1918, died on March 23, 2010. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert John Matteucci, her parents, Emma and Antonio Domenici, and three brothers, Tony Domenici, Lawrence Domenici, and Robert Domenici. She was a descendant of early Italian settlers in our state. The Giomi family came to Albuquerque in 1888 and the Domenici family came in 1906. Ida was an accomplished pianist and artist, having studied piano in Italy and art at St. Vincent's Girls Academy. She also loved gardening, cooking and sewing. She is survived by her three children Albert Jerome Matteucci of Dumfries, Virginia, Tony Matteucci of Valley Village, California and Michelle Marie Matteucci of Albuquerque; She also leaves two grandsons, Drake Matteucci of Philadelphia and Seth Matteucci of Valley Village, California who were the love of her life; She is also survived by two brothers, George and Charlie Domenici; two sisters, Theresa Menicucci and husband Mario, and Lilly Tomasi and husband John all of Albuquerque; She also leaves sisters-in-law, Catherine Domenici of Albuquerque and Francis Domenici of Altanta, Georgia. She leaves many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. MAURER -- John David Maurer (Dave), 75, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on March 24, 2010. Dave had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1964 where he successfully operated several small businesses, the last being Top Gun Auto Sales. Dave was also a statistician for the Lobos in football and basketball for many years. Dave felt that his most crowning achievement was finding Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1968,. He close friends number far too may to name, however Jim Valerio, Manuel Gonzales and Raymond Sanchez went far beyond any calling to aid in Dave's transition. Survivors include his sister, Ruthe Anne; brother-in-law Pete Moss; nieces Ann (Matt) Jackie, Stephanie (Hester), Candy (Michael) and Hillary (Jim); nephews, Gavin and Dirk (Linda; and their families; cousins, Betty Ann and Steve (Shirley). Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Edwin; brother, Edwin Jr. and cousin, Hazel. Also thanks to Drs. Purdy and Ordelano for their care. Vista Care, who gave Dave such wonderful care and love; thank you Rosie, Karen, Desiree, Molly and April. Thank you Barry for the support and comfort you showed Dave and the cribbage games. MURPHY -- Geraldine Asmuth Murphy, born July 29, 1914, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward M. "Ted" Murphy, a long time elected public servant, her parents, Walter and Mary Clontarf Cavanagh Asmuth, her siblings, Col. Walter Asmuth USMC, Minnie Cheseldine, Virginia Asmuth, and brothers-in-law, Charles Meade and Albert Goenner. She is survived by her sisters Eileen Goenner of Bethesda, MD, and Anne Meade of Hyattsville, MD, sons and daughters, Michael and wife, Audrey of Fairbanks, AK, Eileen, Judith and James Massey, Geraldine "Jelly", Cornelia "Connie", Sheila, Dennis and Trish Kaehele, Kevin, Thomas, and grandchildren Boleslo E. "Bo" Romero, and David C. Murphy-Massey all of Albuquerque. She will also be missed by her extended family and special friends including Debbie, Harriet, Antoinette, Diane and Ed, Paul and Cat, Dean, Myah, Becca, Helen, Steve, Georgia, and many others. Thank you all for your prayers and sympathy. After raising her children she returned to school (TVI) and worked at the NM Employment Security Commission as a computer programmer. She volunteered with many organizations including League of Women Voters, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Brothers of the Good Shepherd Auxiliary, Democratic Women, PTA, and others. She also tutored at Garfield and Jackson Middle Schools and taught catechism at Our Lady of Guadalupe. She also enjoyed singing with the UNM Chorus. MURRAY -- George Elliot Murray died earlier this month at his home in Edgewood, NM at the age of 49. George attended Del Norte High School in Albuquerque. He was a master handyman. Nothing was beyond his scope. He loved rottweilers, especially his beloved Sheba. He is survived by his brother Brent Murray and wife, Jeanette of Harleton, TX; his sister Sandy Ikelman and her husband Ken of Albuquerque; and his brother Shane and his wife, Wendy of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held in Moriarty, NM to honor his life.

PEREA -- Felipe R. Perea, 60, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was our beloved husband, father and grandfather. He grew up in Martineztown. He became a teacher and taught at Garfield Middle School and Valley High School. He was also a counselor at both Albuquerque High and Valley High Schools. During the early 1980's he was the hearing officer for the District's North Area. In 1985 he was appointed principal at School on Wheels where he remained for nearly 25 years. He enjoyed his job immensely, loved his students and teachers and built, with the help of his staff, a viable and rich academic alternative setting for at-risk students. He was admired and respected by the APS community and had many friends. Felipe lived in the present and found joy and humor in everyday simple things. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rita; children, Philippe and wife, Yvette, Ben, Jennifer and husband, Ivan Olguin. He had ten grandchildren whom he adored, Santos, Roman, Paige, Merissa, Morgan, Ben Jr., Heaven, Jude, Javier, and Estevan. They called him "Popo". He was preceded in death by his mother, Tillie Perea; father, Paul Perea; and brother, Lee Perea. He is also survived by a brother, Paul Jr.; and sisters, Margaret Martinez and Judy Maes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Clyde Archibeque, Floyd Martinez, Gabriel Garcia, Nicholas Apodaca, Joe Apodaca, and Phillip Apodaca. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Ann Raper of Albuquerque, Justin Allen Raper and wife, Erika Munz of Edgewood, NM; two grandchildren, Kurt and Skyler Munz-Raper; three brothers Bill Raper (Geraldine) of Merrimac, MA, Jim Rader of Powhatan, VA and Leon Rader (Jewell) of Gallatin, TN. TRUJILLO -- Roy Eugene Trujillo, age 67, beloved father, grandfather and brother, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010. He was born on January 6, 1943 in Ponderosa, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merlinda Trujillo; parents, Reynel and Chonita Trujillo; sisters, Lucille Griego, Erlinda Muller; and brother, Tony Trujillo. Roy is survived by his loving children, Antonette Lovato and husband Todd, Greg Trujillo and wife Annette, and Phillip Trujillo; his precious grandchildren, Leslie, Joshua, Jonathon, Cassandra and Robbie; his brothers, Reynel and Henry Trujillo; sisters, Frances Johnson, Evon Bergland, Nadine Trujillo, Josie Trujillo and Reina Crowley; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roy will be greatly missed by all. Visitations will be this evening (Saturday) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. and again Sunday Visitations from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary, a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery in Bernalillo, NM. Casket Bearers will be Richard Trujillo, Joe Stinson, Charles Muller, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Griego and Ben Jaramillo, Jr. Honorary Bearers will be Doug Bergland, Jr. and Cameron Crowley.
