ANDERSON -- David Loyd Anderson, 56, of Albuquerque died unexpectedly March 22, 2010 after tragically being hit by a car while riding on a bike path. David is survived by his loving family: wife, Sherry, and children, Tristin Anderson and Garrett Anderson and Garrett's long-time companion, Erika Anaya. He is also survived by his parents, Loyd and Lil Anderson (Gilbert AZ), sister, Kera Anderson (Colorado Springs CO) and brother, Gary Anderson and wife, Ruth (Santa Fe), father-in-law, Charles Boulware (Albuquerque), sisters-in-law, Lynne Boulware and husband, Jim Ward (Albuquerque), and Lee Stein (Los Lunas) along with 11 nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ivan and Ida Anderson and Dave and Celia Longacre, and mother-in-law, Charlene Boulware. BARRETT -- William Charles Barrett, age 24, of Edgewood, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 following a motorcycle accident. Will attended Moriarty High School. He later attended CNM, where he earned his Phlebotomy Certificate. He worked at Presbyterian Hospital for the past two years. He loved the outdoors, riding his Harley, and hanging out with his friends. Will is survived by his father Carl Barrett and wife Shawna; mother, Kelly Rennison; brothers, Richard, Jonathan, and Raven; sisters, Samantha, Alyssa; cousins Lesley, Krystal, and Ken who were more like sisters and brothers; grandparents, Bill and Sandy Barrett; Edna and Frank Nipper and Jean Harber. BRYAN -- Garlan D. Bryan Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 after a long illness. He was born September 12, 1924, in Winona, Mississippi to Garlan Diggs Bryan and Maude Kennedy Bryan. He is survived by Sally L. Bryan, his wife of 63 years; daughter, Carrie and husband, John Atkins of Rio Rancho; sister, Berniece Stanford of Belzoni, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Margaret Hawk and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; niece, Jackie Chama of Eugene, Oregon; nephew, Charles Stanford of Nashville, Tennessee; step-granddaughter Addie Atkins Delahoussaye and husband, Dayne of Houston, Texas; step-grandson, John R. Atkins and wife, Cori of Houston, Texas, and great-grandchildren Lily Delahoussaye, Jane Delahoussaye and Claire Atkins. He was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Joyce Lavelle. Garlan attended the University of Texas, where he played on the varsity tennis team. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the School of Architecture in 1948. Shortly thereafter, he became a partner in the firm of Flatow, Moore, Bryan, and Fairburn of Albuquerque, with branch offices in Phoenix and Colorado Springs. He served as Executive Vice President and CEO when the firm incorporated as Flatow, Moore, Bryan and Associates in 1965. He retired from the firm in 1991, opening an office where he continued to do the work he loved until the summer of 2009. He served as the first president of the Albuquerque Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and taught Architectural Design at the University of Texas and Architectural Professional Practice at the University of New Mexico. He was also active on many advisory boards, and was instrumental in developing the first Handicapped Accessibility Standards for the State of New Mexico. He served as Chairman of the first Uniform Building Code Committee for the City of Albuquerque and the Construction Industry Advisory Committee from 1973 to 1993. He particularly enjoyed serving as a judge for the Associated General Contractors of America Best Building Awards. During his long career he was recognized many times for exemplary performance. Among these were the Architect of the Year Award, Western Mountain Region AIA, 1954; New Mexico Society of Architects Service Award, 1966; Design Excellence Award, College & University Business Magazine, for the UNM College of Education, 1967; New Mexico Society of Architects Award of Honor for the UNM Biology Building, 1970; Albuquerque Chapter AIA Professional Award, 1985; Association of General Contractors SIR Award, 1985; Outstanding Contribution to the New Mexico Memorial of Perpetual Tears; and the prestigious Owens-Corning Energy Conservation Award for the Willow Creek Office Building in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He gave of his talents freely, and contributed many hours of design services without compensation for those in need. Garlan was a fan of classical music, and avid golfer, and lifelong lover of animals. He was past president of the Arabian Horse Association of New Mexico and the New Mexico Horse Council. He also participated in many fundraising activities for the Animal Humane Association, the Children's Peace Statue Project, the American Lung Association, and Walkin' N Circles Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Ranch. Garlan's many talents, unfailing optimism, dry wit, and subtle sense of humor will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at French - University. CAMPBELL -- Matilda "Lee" Chiody Campbell, beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother was born in Niles, Ohio February 20, 1922. A young 88 year old, she passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010. Lee is survived by her sister, Evelyn Menaldi, of Youngstown, Ohio; her children Jeffrey and wife, Toni, and Gary and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Jason, Dominick, Gregory, Angela, Aimee, Gina and Kari; 10 great grandchildren; seven nieces; seven nephews; and other family and friends who loved her and will miss her. Lee was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Rose Chiody, of Youngstown, Ohio; her husband of 60 years, Ralph Campbell; two dear sisters, Pearl Martin and Adeline Matteo; and adopted brother, Carmen Basile. Lee was a legal secretary and court reporter for many years. For the last half of her career, Lee worked for Dr. Richard Tonigan at the Educational Planning and Development Dept. at UNM, then UNM Mental Health Center for Dr. Sterling. Lee retired from UNM in 1983. She then worked for her sons in their various business pursuits. Lee was lively and full of spirit, with a generous heart. She loved to play golf and cards. Lee was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Lee will be truly missed. Her family wishes to graciously thank Presbyterian Hospice and Home Instead Caregivers. CORLEY -- Sidney Corley, 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 22, 2010. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW, an avid sports fan, and a loving husband and father. He loved to travel and see new and interesting things. He will be greatly missed by his family. DERR -- Carl G. Derr, 80, a resident of Albuquerque beginning in 1976, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary, of Albuquerque; children, Virginia Stewart and husband, Jack, of Anthony, Texas; Judi Borth and husband, Larry, of Gatesville, Texas; Glenn Derr and wife, Lorie, of Tuscon, Arizona; Constance Derr and the late Harold Norris, of Corrales, New Mexico; and Gary Derr and wife, Christi, of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Travis and Ashley Borth, and James, Maura, Patrick, Bryan and Michael Derr. He is also survived by his nephews Alan, Earl and Lyle Mills, and nieces Sharon San Romani and Pam Langley. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Audra Derr and his two sisters, Elva Mills and Lola Langley. Carl was a 50-plus year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 49. He served numerous terms on the local union's executive board. He began his union affiliation with the sheet metal workers union in the Chicago area, Du Page County, Illinois. In his retirement, he remained active in the union through the local's retiree chapter. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War, which included a tour in Japan. Carl and Mary enjoyed many years of camping, traveling and enjoying the outdoors. Carl was an avid reader of westerns and enjoyed wood working and metal work. HATHAWAY -- Donald "Don" Joseph Hathaway, age 87, of Belen, formerly of Santa Fe and Socorro, passed away March 19, 2010. He was born on April 8, 1922 in Pullman, Washington. He graduated with a diploma in Political Science from UNM in 1947. A U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII as a Radio Intercept Operator, Mr. Hathaway was a New Mexico State Senator from 1960-66 representing Socorro. He worked with the Motor Transportation Department, Enforcement Bureau from 1968-87 and a Standard Oil Wholesale Dealer in Socorro. Mr. Hathaway was the former president of the Lions Club in Santa Fe, and served as Executive Vice President of the New Mexico Retail Association from 1966-67. He also belonged to the Belen Optimists Club, the Masons, The China-Burma India Veterans Association, St. Philips Episcopal Church in Belen and Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Santa Fe. He enjoyed golfing in his spare time and reading mystery and history novels, frequenting the Belen Library. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie "Gene" Hathaway; children, Lynn and husband Larry Benna, Tiger Mossman, Greg Hathaway and Leigh and husband Joey Fernandez; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jamie, Cody, Isabel and Jenna, great granddaughter, Bailey and sister in law, Lucille Hathaway. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Henry Hathaway. She was awarded the Great Lady of ANA (American Numismatic Association) award. Evie had a great gift when it came to making friends. She made them instantly and kept them forever. LANG -- Eileen Margaret Lang, born December 21, 1918 to Edward J. and Margaret Burns in Rochester, New York, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Albuquerque. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Col. (ret.) Edmund R. Lang, and the eldest of her four sons, Edmund J. Lang. Eileen is survived by son James R. Lang and his wife, Becky of Santa Cruz, CA; son Thomas G. Lang of Anchorage, AK; son William F. Lang and his wife, Margie of Albuquerque and daughter-in-law, Kathy Lang of Corrales. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Lang and wife, Jen of Santa Cruz, CA, Jessica Lang and her husband, Brian Carter of Santa Cruz, CA, Jamie Lang and her fiance, Jason Cloyes of Albuquerque, Jake and Zach Lang of Corrales, Shawne Blackburn and her husband, Billy of Albuquerque, and Patrick Logan and his wife, Valerie. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, C.J., Haley, and Michael Lang and Courtney Carter, all of Santa Cruz, CA. LUCERO -- Josephine Lucero, born July 3, 1930 in Rowe, NM died after a short illness on Friday, March 19, 2010. She was one of eight children born to Adelaido and Rose McElroy Herrera. Josephine was preceded in death in 2007 by her husband of 58 years, Tony O. Lucero; and by a baby son Thomas Michael Lucero in 1952. She is survived by her son Tony O. Lucero, Jr.; and daughter Patricia Roybal and their spouses Deedra and Robert. She leaves three beloved sisters, Celina Mullins, Emma Maes and husband Juan, and Mary Alice Tarin. As the family matriarch, she was the very proud grandmother of Jennifer Wiggins and husband Brian, Tre Lucero, Travis Lucero and wife Jessica, Carlos Trujillo and Robert Roybal, Jr.; great granchildren Angelica and David Sanchez, Sage and Alexyss Wiggins, Lily Lucero and Ashlynne Lucero, Vanessa and Alaina Trujillo. She cherished her numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and Godchildren, the latest of whom begin a fourth generation. Josephine provided a wonderful home for her family filled with love and the aroma of the best tortillas, "pretty beans" and chile in NM. She was employed for many years at Simon's Western Wear, Sears (downtown) and Cook's Sporting Goods. She retired from the State of NM Child Support Enforcement Division where she brought many a deadbeat dad to his knees. Her family is honoring her request that there be no services "whatsoever". Thank you to all who have provided us with your love and support during this difficult time.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert John Matteucci, her parents, Emma and Antonio Domenici, and three brothers, Tony Domenici, Lawrence Domenici, and Robert Domenici. She was a descendant of early Italian settlers in our state. The Giomi family came to Albuquerque in 1888 and the Domenici family came in 1906. Ida was an accomplished pianist and artist, having studied piano in Italy and art at St. Vincent's Girls Academy. She also loved gardening, cooking and sewing. She is survived by her three children Albert Jerome Matteucci of Dumfries, Virginia, Tony Matteucci of Valley Village, California and Michelle Marie Matteucci of Albuquerque; She also leaves two grandsons, Drake Matteucci of Philadelphia and Seth Matteucci of Valley Village, California who were the love of her life; She is also survived by two brothers, George and Charlie Domenici; two sisters, Theresa Menicucci and husband Mario, and Lilly Tomasi and husband John all of Albuquerque; She also leaves sisters-in-law, Catherine Domenici of Albuquerque and Francis Domenici of Altanta, Georgia. She leaves many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. OLMSTED -- Dr. Michelle (Webster) Olmsted (46), a well-known Albuquerque pediatrician, died suddenly of natural causes on March 16, 2010. She was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1963 to Dave and Georgette Olmsted. She attended Acequia Madre Elementary, Santa Fe Prep, the Albuquerque Academy, and Santa Fe High School. Fluent in French, she spent one year as an exchange student at Brillantmont International School in Switzerland. She graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and completed medical school at the University of New Mexico. As a medical student, she developed a keen interest in children's health and completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of New Mexico serving her final year as chief resident. After residency, she joined the UNM faculty as an attending physician. While at UNM, she became strongly interested in endocrinology and treated pediatric diabetic patients during outreach clinics in under-served communities all around the state. She subsequently served as the clinical director of the Los Lunas clinic of First Choice Community Healthcare. She recently entered into private practice as a Board-certified pediatrician with Southwest Medical Associates serving the westside community. Michelle's desire to improve her community was reflected in her many activities. She was a tireless advocate for her patients. Local media interviewed her regarding diabetes and children's health. She was a long-time board member of the local branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). She was selected to serve on the JDRF's national research review board, where she served for the last six years helping to guide millions of dollars of research funding dedicated to eradicating this terrible disease. Michelle was particularly interested in animal welfare and was a long-term volunteer at the Watermelon Mountain Ranch rescue group with a strong interest in cats. Michelle had a vibrant personality and enjoyed amateur theater working both behind- and on-stage, primarily at the Albuquerque Little Theater. She loved travel and particularly enjoyed diving in Hawaii and traveling in Europe with her long-time partner, Michael Vannoni. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gregory; and both her parents. She is survived by siblings John and Anick Olmsted of Albuquerque, and Brian Nelson of Austin, TX. She had many friends among her patients and colleagues. The nighttime sky in Albuquerque will shine a little less brightly with her passing. The JDRF will be establishing a special research award in her honor. PEREA -- Felipe R. Perea, 60, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was our beloved husband, father and grandfather. He grew up in Martineztown. He became a teacher and taught at Garfield Middle School and Valley High School. He was also a counselor at both Albuquerque High and Valley High Schools. During the early 1980's he was the hearing officer for the District's North Area. In 1985 he was appointed principal at School on Wheels where he remained for nearly 25 years. He enjoyed his job immensely, loved his students and teachers and built, with the help of his staff, a viable and rich academic alternative setting for at-risk students. He was admired and respected by the APS community and had many friends. Felipe lived in the present and found joy and humor in everyday simple things. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rita; children, Philippe and wife, Yvette, Ben, Jennifer and husband, Ivan Olguin. He had ten grandchildren whom he adored, Santos, Roman, Paige, Merissa, Morgan, Ben Jr., Heaven, Jude, Javier, and Estevan. They called him "Popo". He was preceded in death by his mother, Tillie Perea; father, Paul Perea; and brother, Lee Perea. He is also survived by a brother, Paul Jr.; and sisters, Margaret Martinez and Judy Maes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Clyde Archibeque, Floyd Martinez, Gabriel Garcia, Nicholas Apodaca, Joe Apodaca, and Phillip Apodaca. PIERSON -- Ongelo Pierson, 87, resident of Albuquerque since 1954, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Polly; sons, Rick Pierson and wife Dee Dee of Camdenton, MO and Mick Pierson and wife Jeanette of Allen, TX; daughters, Paula Nunn and husband Kenny of Albuquerque, Sheila white and husband Terry of Albuquerque, and Robin Weaver and husband Marcus of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Shawn Huwar and wife Alberta, Josh Huwar and wife Angie, Barry Huwar and wife Tracey, Ryan Pierson, Aaron Pierson and wife Abby, Brandon Pierson, Nichole Nunn, Cody Nunn, Tyler Nunn, Dustin White and wife Rebecca, Chad White, Troy White, Jordyn Weaver, and J.D. Weaver, and three great-grandchildren. Ongelo was preceded in death by his father J.R. Pierson in 1930; his mother, Ida Carden Pierson February 1, 1982; his half brother, Gilford Pierson in 1984, and his childhood best friend, who later became his brother-in-law, Cecil Caldwell, July 31, 2009. Ongelo was born on March 14, 1923 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He graduated from Stilwell High School in 1941. On December 15th of that same year he joined the Army Air Corps. He served in the 247th AAF base Unit in England. Ongelo trained and specialized in airplane and engine maintenance on B-24's. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on September 13, 1945. He and Polly were married on May 28, 1946 in Columbus, KS. Ongelo received his Bachelors Degree and his Masters Degree from North Eastern in Talequah, OK. Because of his love for children, Ongelo became a schoolteacher. In 1949 he began his career in a small schoolhouse in Baron Fork, OK, not only as the teacher of 6th - 8th grade, but also the principal. In 1954 he moved his family to Albuquerque and became the Principal of Sandia Base Elementary School. After 24 years, he was transferred to Mountain View Elementary School where he finished out his career and retired from Albuquerque Public School system in 1982. He became a born again Christian in 1966 and was a long time member and Trustee at Berean Baptist Church. Since 1983 he has been a member of and attended Sandia Baptist Church. Ongelo loved fishing and woodcarving. On any given Saturday you could find him at the soccer fields or baseball fields watching his grandchildren participate. He was an avid OU fan. ROHRER -- John H. Rohrer, a resident of Albuquerque for 43 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque. He was born January 18, 1928, the youngest child of Howard and Margaret Bunce Rohrer of Saylor Park (Cincinnati), Ohio. After graduating from high school, he received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cincinnati College of Music. His career as a pianist began at age 9 and continued through life. He played on a Delta Queen River boat until he was drafted and sent to Germany as a chaplain's assistant. When discharged, he and two musicians formed a trio called, "The Diplomats." After six years of traveling and performing with very few days off, he left the group and settled in Albuquerque. He was soon employed by Paul Muench at his piano store. After Paul's death, John became the owner of the store. During that time, he married Betty Sheaffer and adopted her two girls, Lori and Victoria. Fourteen years later, the marriage ended and John sold Muench Music. In 1988, John met Barb Border and married her in March of 1989. He worked for Riedling Music until he retired in 1992. John and Barb later moved to Montana to care for Barb's mother for nine years. In 2005, they moved back to Albuquerque to be near family. John was a happy, fun, jolly person who loved people; he had a very warm sense of humor and was deeply concerned about the needs of others. John had many hobbies that enabled him to bring joy to friends and family; he enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, painting, reading Scripture, playing piano daily and spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a good and devoted husband whose life centered around his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his home and his family. John is preceded in death by his mother Margaret (Bunce) Rohrer and father Howard Rohrer of Cincinnati; his brother Samuel Rohrer of San Antonio; his brother George Rohrer of Cincinnati; and his sister Jane (Rohrer) Geeding of Cincinnati. SADILEK -- Lt. Col. Julius "Jules" B. Sadilek, US Army, Retired, 90, died March 19, 2010. He is survived by his wife Ethel "Dutch" Sauerman-Sadilek; daughter Julie Moore and husband Richard; son Julius "Jay" Sadilek and wife Maureen; grandchildren Andrea M. Collins and husband Eric; Richard Moore Jr. and wife Stacey and Alisa M. Sadilek; great-grandchildren, Charles and Alexandra Collins and many other family and friends. Jules was preceded in death by his first wife Marcella Schwalb Sadilek; and his sister Regina "Bobbie" Sneed. He was a graduate of Rugby Academy in New Orleans, LA, served in the Louisiana National Guard and in the US Army before retiring in 1960. He served in Europe during WW II from 1942 to 1945. After he retired from the military he received a BA and MA degrees in secondary education from the University of New Mexico. He taught world history and geography at Manzano High School from 1962 to 1981. Mr. Sadilek was a member of the Sts John Lodge 153 in New Orleans for 64 years and Mesa Lodge 68 AF & AM in Albuquerque. He was a member of Ballut Abyad Shrine since 1960 and was Recorder Emeritus. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was employed by Creamland Dairies for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ana Maria Montoya Spiller. WALKER -- Roxie Ann Walker, 90, passed away March 12, 2010 in Truth or Consequences, NM. Roxie was born August 20, 1919 in Belton, TX to Martha Ann Casey and William Elmer Willis. Roxie is survived by her husband of 22 years, William Paul Walker, of 844 Horseshoe Trail, SE, Albuquerque, NM; a son, Alvin J. Campbell, Jr. and wife, Gretchen, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; onebrother, Elmer Willis; and one sister, Mae Ascue. Roxie was active in the Eastern Star as a member of the Adah 5 Chapter of Eastern Star until her health prevented her attending meetings. She enjoyed fishing the lakes and rivers of northern New Mexico. She and husband, William Walker, were also active in many Masonic activities throughout New Mexico. A Memorial Service for Roxie will be at graveside where she will be buried with her first husband of 41 years, Alvin J. Campbell, Sr.. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010. Pastor Kevin Warner of the Del Norte Baptist Church will officiate.
