AINSWORTH -- Alma Grace Ainsworth, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away February 23, 2010. Born on August 17, 1942 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi, Alma Grace moved to Albuquerque, NM during her high school years and graduated from Highland High School. Alma Grace worked as an RN for ten years, she was a simple woman that was larger than life and she opened her heart to everyone she met. Alma grace is survived by her brother Clayton Earl Ainsworth, of Hillsbourough, GA; and her son Gregory Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM. Preceded in death by her aunt Pauly, of Jackson, MS; and her beloved cat Scout. BARTLETT -- MSgt. Carl A. Bartlett, US Air Force, Retired, died March 5, 2010, following a brief illness. Carl was born August 19, 1928, to Jay and Anna Bartlett, in McCloud, MN. He joined the US Armed Forces as a teenager, served in Korea, and was a weapons specialist for most of his Armed Forces career. After 20 years of military service, Carl earned a Master's degree in Special Education at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. He then taught at Bureau of Indian Affairs boarding schools in the Gallup, NM, area and public schools in the Grants and Los Lunas areas. Upon retiring from Civil Service in 1980, he and his wife Lucy moved to Albuquerque. Carl was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose first love was his family. He was an avid gardener and had a great affinity for books, history, and classical music. He appreciated the great outdoors and spent many summers camping and fishing with friends and family in his younger years. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Jay and Anna and his siblings Lloyd, Donovan, Donna, and Gladys. He is survived by Lucy, his wife of 54 years; his children Charlotte Bartlett of Albuquerque, Catherine Bartlett of Bloomington, IN, Carol Bartlett of Gallup, NM, Cheryl Bartlett of Albuquerque, and Camille Hoy and husband David of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren Jonathon Bartlett of Rio Rancho, NM, Andrea Davis and husband Matt of Gallup, NM, Matthew Howard of Gallup, NM, and Michael and Nathan Hoy of Amarillo, TX; great-grandchildren Talan and Payton Davis of Gallup, NM; his brother Francis Bartlett and wife MariAnn of Alexandria, MN; and many nieces and nephews. BELCHEFF -- Karen Lynn (Wheeler) Belcheff, 52, passed away at her home on March 7, 2010. She fought a courageous battle against ALS for over two years. She was born December 21, 1957 in San Angelo, Texas and grew up around the US while her dad was in active duty with the Air Force, moving to Albuquerque when he retired. She married Larry Belcheff on October 26, 1985 in Albuquerque, NM. She received her Bachelor and Masters degree in education from UNM and taught third and fourth grades at San Antonito Elementary in Sandia Park, NM for more than 15 years. She was an inspiration to the many children whose lives she influenced in countless ways, both in and out of the classroom, throughout her life. She loved her Lord and was activity involved at Heritage Christian Fellowship. She taught children's Sunday School and was involved in the Women's Ministry. Karen and Larry hosted a home fellowship group for many years. Karen loved horses and was actively involved in the National Association of Trail Riders (NATRAC), her other passion was quilting. She is survived by her husband of 25 years; step-son Scott Belcheff and wife Deidre, with the highlight of her life granddaughter Alex; her mother Mildred "Mickey" Wheeler; two brothers and family David & Mary, their daughters Lindsey and Chelsea Wheeler. Allen and Debbie Wheeler. In-laws Steve and Alba Belcheff of Raton, NM; brothers and sisters in-law of Albuquerque, NM, Frank and Lynette Butts, Dennis and Debbie Selvage, Dennis and Retha Shiplet, Steve and Janey Belcheff of Leander, Texas; nieces and nephews Jason, Erin and Jarin Shope; Vince and Sarah Moya; Jolynn and Maiah Torres; Adam Selvage and Jerrod Shiplet. She was preceded in death by her dad Terry Wheeler in 1990. Karen's endearing smile, warmth and caring personality will be forever impressed in our hearts. We will remain eternally grateful for having her in our lives and will honor her by emulating the same spirit of joy and love that she gave to all of us. The family extends heartfelt appreciation and thanks to her many friends, care givers, and providers from Hospice of NM. CHAVEZ -- Isidro Chavez Sr., 89, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2010, after a long illness. He was born February 26, 1921. He retired from General Electric and served his country during WWII. He loved his music and was the oldest living Mariachi in New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki T. Chavez, daughter, Barbara Calderon, son, Edward Chavez, granddaughter, Victoria Quintana, parents, Estanislado and Julianita Chavez, and four brothers. He is survived by his children, Patricia Quintana and husband, George, Cathy Martinez and husband, Herman Sr., Arlene Portillo, Isidro Chavez Jr., Doris Sedillo and husband, Gilbert, Charlie Chavez; 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was a member of San Jose Parish for many years. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish with viewing one hour prior. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 11, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish with interment of follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. DOBYNS -- MARJORIE SIMPSON DOBYNS aged 82, of Santa Fe, NM passed away peacefully on March 4, 2010 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dobyns. Marjorie is survived by her sons, Robbie, Marty and Step; daughters-in-law, Gale, Missy and Claire. Ayesha, Andrea and Nicholas made her proud to be their Grandma. Lastly, she is survived by her loving companion, Tiger Bear, her beloved cat. Marjorie was an avid golfer and loved the Santa Fe Country Club Women's Golf Association. She made many dear friends. She treasured those friendships and appreciated all the good times together. In recent years, as her health declined she was very appreciative of all the health care professionals that took care of her. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice. There will be a small service at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Holy Faith Church in Santa Fe.

EKLUND -- Barbara R. Eklund, 86, passed away on March 6, 2010. She was born Barbara Jean Rhoads in Anita, Iowa to Frank Howard Rhoads and Ivadel Lewis Rhoads Sterner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty years, Eugene E. "Gene" Eklund, and her brother Gail "Whitey" Rhoads. She is survived by her two sisters, Margery Mensing of Montevideo, MN and Ann Tatum of Omaha, NE; her sons: Gary Eklund and wife Ruth of Redmond WA, Dr. Charles Eklund and wife Laurie, Steve Eklund, Roger Eklund and wife Myrene, all of Albuquerque; six grand children; and two great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. Barbara was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM where she raised her family and committed much time to community activities. She was a Cub-Scout Den mother for all four of her boys as well as many boys from the neighborhood. She was a member of the PTA, and served as an Election Polling Official for her neighborhood Precinct for many years. Barbara was also involved in coordinating the first "Arts and Crafts Fair" of Albuquerque that was originated in the Old Town Area. She was actively involved in purebred dog obedience training since the early 1960's, breeding and exhibiting Belgian Sheepdogs, which she dearly loved, for many years. She held lifetime memberships in both the Rio Grande Kennel Club and Sandia Dog Obedience Club, serving as president of the Rio Grande Kennel Club for many years and in practically every other office and position in each organization over the past several decades. She was a founding member of the Coronado Kennel Club and served as show chair for that organization's first shows. She assisted every year in coordinating certain activities for the annual Mother's Day Dog Show in Albuquerque. Barbara was a registered parliamentarian and member of both the National Association of Parliamentarians and New Mexico State Association of Parliamentarians for the past 39 years, and served as parliamentarian for each of the dog clubs. She was also a life-time member of the National Belgian Sheep Dog Association. In 1985 she moved with her husband Gene to the retirement home that he built in Placitas, NM where she enjoyed the rural setting. She was a loving and devoted wife and care-giver to Gene until his death in 1998. She continued to maintain an active involvement in the Kennel Clubs and also became a member of the Daughters of the Nile, in which she was a musician in the Oriental Band. Barbara was beloved by her many neighbors and friends and will always be remembered for her staunch independence and caring and kindness. Most recently as her health declined, she was able to find a wonderful care-giver, Donna Kie-Carney, who became her constant companion and friend, or as they referred to each other, "partners in crime". As she requested, Barbara was cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Ballut Abyad Shrine Center, 6600 Zuni SE, Albuquerque, NM at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

ELLIOTT -- Norris G. Elliott, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, passed away on March 6, 2010. Mr. Elliott is survived by three nieces, Anne Pannone of Gilbert, AZ, Mary Pannone of Staten Island, NY and Teri Przygocki of Prescott Valley, AZ; seven nephews, John Dennie of Staten Island, NY, Mark Sears of Westminster, CA, Kirk Sears of Kansas, Steve Mumy and Todd Mumy, both of San Diego, CA, Brad Mumy and Bret Mumy, both of Henderson, NV. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret S. Elliott in 2003. Norris retired from the U.S. Army as Chief Warrant Officer after 27 years of dedicated service to our country. He and his wife enjoyed traveling around the world while in the military. Mr. Elliott was a long time member of the Elks Lodge, serving in different capacities. HESS -- Patricia Hess of Albuquerque-educator, mother and grandmother, musician, artist, traveler, friend to many, and ever curious and outgoing-passed away Friday morning, March 5, 2010 in Santa Fe. She is survived by her son and his wife; three grandchildren; her sister; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Bisbee, Arizona, she attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where she completed a double major in music and education. She married, gave birth to a son, and spent the next few years in West Texas, teaching in the public schools and singing alto in the choir. Moving to Albuquerque in the mid-fifties, Patricia continued to teach third grade at Bel Air Elementary, and then mathematics at Hoover Middle School. In the mid-seventies she moved to Tempe and obtained a master's degree in mathematics at Arizona State University, and upon her return to Albuquerque she became a math consultant for the Albuquerque Public Schools. She retired from APS and moved to Fort Worth, where she worked as a math curriculum consultant for the school district. Then she became a consultant for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and traveled the country to observe and help stimulate innovative math programs. In retirement she spent her time playing the piano, contract bridge, traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with close friends and family. On Sundays she loved going to concerts at the Church of Beethoven. She was always upbeat and positive about life, and was generous and supportive of others. We miss her dearly.

MAYHEW -- David Allan Mayhew, Sr. 83, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010 with his loving family at his side. David was born on July 13, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Arthur and Elizabeth Mayhew. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers; and sister. MCLEOD -- Duncan Andrew McLeod, 40, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2010 in Ventura,CA. He was born and raised in Albuq., NM and moved to CA eight years ago. He had a heart of gold and is loved and will be missed by sister Kathy Schwarting and husband Dave; brother Matthew McLeod and wife Karen; sister Charlotte McLeod; and twin brother Jimmy McLeod and wife Valerie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews John (26), Brandon (nine), Kaitlyn (eight), Noah (five), and Hannah (three). He will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Duncan touched the hearts of many friends he made throughout his life in New Mexico and California and will be deeply missed. Duncan graduated from Sandia High School in 1988. MCLEOD -- Duncan McLeod, 40, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2010, in Ventura, CA. Duncan was born and raised in Albuquerque. He graduated from Sandia High School in 1988 and attended New Mexico State University. In 2002, Duncan moved to California where he resided until his death. Duncan was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending various sporting events. Duncan was generous and kind - he never met a stranger. He is survived by his twin brother, Jim McLeod; brother, Matt McLeod; sisters, Kathy Schwarting and Charlotte McLeod; as well as many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, Dr. Hugh McLeod; and his mom, Sally McLeod. Duncan touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed.

MITCHELL -- Seth Mitchell, 6, of Brunswick, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Louis Cristanelli, Chuck Ribbron, Sam Webb, Christian Strickland, Daniel Breese and John Eberly will serve as pallbearers. Born July 31, 2003 in Glynn County Georgia to Robert Kyle and Jennifer Thomas Mitchell, Seth was a student at Glyndale Elementary School. He was a member of St. Simons Community Church and was an avid motor cross and NASCAR fan. Seth also enjoyed UGA Football and Transformers. OSTLER -- Willie Mae Ostler, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1969, returned to our Heavenly Father on March 4, 2010. Reunited for eternity with her husband Emmett Ostler, son Ronald Foley, her parents, and seven siblings. She is survived by her children: son, Tas Kurt Foley and Doris Kelterborn of Romulus, Michigan; daughter, Carolyn Martinez and husband Esteban Martinez of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Howard Foley and wife Elizabeth Foley of Prudenville, MI; son, Ken Foley and wife Suzanne Foley of Temecula, CA; son, Rick Foley and wife Valarie Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; stepson, Nathan Ostler of Albuquerque, NM; stepdaughter Martha Ostler of Albuquerque, NM; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, two sisters, Irene Marr of Texas, and Dorothy Plyler and husband L.D. of Washington, and numerous nieces, nephews, and freinds. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A loving grandmother, she will forever be a member of the "World's Greatest Grandma Club." Pallbearers will be Carl Reider, Ricky Foley, Jr., Matthew Foley, Michael Foley, Jordan Mucher, and Joe Lifke. SANCHEZ -- Maximo (Max) Sanchez, entered eternity at the age of 90 on Sunday, March 7, 2010, surrounded by his family. Mr. Sanchez leaves behind the love of his life, Peggy, whom he married in 1940; five children, Ramon Sanchez and wife, Genevieve, Marian Perez and husband, Frank, Mike Sanchez, Shirley Atwood and husband, Dave, Vera Liljestrand and husband, John; sister-in-law, Bernie Sanchez; sister, Fortunata Martinez and husband, Tony, brother, Rubert Sanchez and wife, Pearle; eleven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents, Juan de Dios Sanchez and Marina Madrid Sanchez; his brothers and sisters, Jerry, Cande, Aurora, and Jose Antonio, his nieces, Kate, Yolanda; nephew, Joseph. Max was raised in the Lyden, New Mexico area until 1975 when he and his wife moved to Albuquerque. He was the oldest living carpenter member of Local Union 1319 having completed 65 years as a member. Mr. Sanchez enjoyed fishing, watching the LA Dodgers on TV, jogging, crossword puzzles, and in his younger days playing the trumpet as member of a band. As he grew older he began to suffer from Parkinson's and life became difficult. He grew so tired and when Jesus offered him a better option he entered eternity having lived a full life. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 N. Plaza St. NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Los Hermanos de San Pedro, Morada de Chamita. Final visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. at the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 a.m. with Father Denise Garcia presider. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Perez III, Russell Sanchez, Corey Sanchez, Bobby Kindig, David Kindig, and Dominic Kindig. Honorary pallbearers will be Isaiah Liljestrand, Henry Jojola IV, Tony Martinez, Peter Sanchez, John David Salazar, Dion Sanchez, and Johnny Sanchez. WALLIS -- Stafford R. Wallis II On March 4, 2010, Stafford Roosevelt Wallis II passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67. Born in New Orleans, LA on February 11, 1943, "S.R." was a pillar of the Albuquerque City and Bernalillo County, NM, communities he so dearly loved. After serving in the Vietnam War, S.R. entered law enforcement with the New Mexico State Police in 1972 as a patrolman and later as a member of the Governor's security detail for former New Mexico Governor Raymond S. "Jerry" Apodaca. He then went on to work in warrants and extraditions for the Bernalillo County Sherriff's Department, where after 30 years he concluded his law enforcement career as the County's first retired African-American Deputy Sherriff. He is survived by two daughters, Arlene R. Wallis of Middle River, MD, and Stephannie D. Williams of Virginia Beach, VA; one son Patrick Wallis of Perry Hall, MD; his former spouse, Lt. Colonel (Retired) Bertha N. Williams of Perry Hall, MD; four grandchildren Anton Jones of Albuquerque, NM, Alexandra Jones and Julian Wallis of Middle River, MD, and Daniel Wallis of Bumpass, VA. He is survived by seven brothers Lionel Wallis of Baton Rouge, LA, Kenneth Wallis of Houston, TX, Benjamin Jr., Donald, Melvin, Harrison "Eddie" and Tony Wallis, all of Houma, LA; four sisters, Diane W. Coleman, Linda W. Butler and Gaynell M. Wallis, all of Houma, LA, and Wanda W. Bowie of Colfax, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Joseph Wallis and Dorothy McGuire Wallis; and one sister Claudia Wallis. Memorial service(s) will be announced at a later date.
