ARMIJO -- Richard A. Armijo, 60, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Friday, November 13, 2009. Mr. Armijo was born on October 20, 1949 to Louis and Margaret (Cortez) Armijo of Albuquerque, NM. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Albuquerque High School. He was employed by the US Department of Agriculture as a Snow Surveyor. Mr. Armijo enjoyed farming alfalfa on his farm in Veguita, NM. He loved the outdoors and hunting, repairing cars and accumulating car parts. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He is most remembered as a loving father who instilled discipline into his children. He was an excellent provider for his family and made sure each of his children attended and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School and St. Pius X High School. Mr. Armijo is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rosemary (Ortiz) Armijo; their children, Ricardo (Jenny) Armijo, Ramona M. Armijo, Luis Armijo, Maria Elena Armijo and her special friend, John Padilla, all of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Gary and Madolyn; parents, Louis and Margaret Armijo; siblings, Louis, Jeanette, Gloria, and Carolyn; Clara and Joe Sandoval; and many nieces and nephews. BACA -- Rebecca D. Baca, 98, a life long resident of Santa Fe, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009, while living at the Victory Knoll Missionary Sisters of Huntington, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents Esquipula and Isabelita Romero Baca; and sister Manuelita Baca Valdez. Rebecca was born on February 6, 1911, in Pena Blanca, NM. She retired from the State Corporation Commission after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Democratic Women of Santa Fe County, and served on the Bernalillo School District Board of Education for many years. She was also a member of the Secular Franciscans and St. Francis Altar Society. She is survived by her sister Sister Carlota Baca of Huntington, Indiana and numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving family members. A Rosary will be recited Monday, November 16, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. BARNES -- Lloyd Barnes, age 80, a resident of Belen, was called home to our Lord and Savior after a short illness on Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Lloyd was a devoted Christian man. He graduated from Abilene Christian High in Abilene, Texas and received his degree from St. Joseph College and worked at Sandia Laboratories. Lloyd served four years in the US Air Force, during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in French Morocco. He worked thirty-five years for Sandia Labs and retired in1985. Lloyd was also very active with the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed many camping trips with them. He enjoyed singing, which he began at a young age with The French Boys Choir and he also sang in the United Methodist Church Choir. Lloyd was preceded in death by his mother, Peryl Gibbons; and step-father, Bowers Gibbons; and father, Errett Barnes. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Wanda L. Barnes; children, Charles L. Barnes and his wife Cindy, Mark Barnes and Elaine Barnes; grandchildren, Sarah E. Barnes, Raena-Marie L. Wallace and her husband Dustin, Kymberly Daylynn Palm, Austin G. Barnes and Addison L. Barnes; great-grandchildren, Aleana M. Wallace, Dustin Blake Wallace and Carina L. Wallace; sisters Rebecca Allen and her husband Sterling of Sebring, FL and Moynelle (Mickey) Landon of Albuquerque. BEATTY -- Laura E. Beatty, 80, moved from life here on earth to eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a brief illness with cancer. Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Luther Z Beatty "Luke"; infant son Kevin Lane Beatty; her granddaughter Sarah Bethany Shelton; brother Paul E Elmore; and her parents Paul H and Annie Laura Elmore. She is survived by her children Sandra Watson of Odessa, TX, David Beatty of Oklahoma City, OK, and Diane Shelton and husband Ira of Quemado, NM, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many dear friends. BELL -- William R "Bill" Bell, 81, died November 9, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Rita; children, Michael R. Bell and wife Saundra Ann, and Melissa Reynolds and husband Matthew; grandchildren, Andrew R Bell, Parker D Reynolds, Bene Vigil and Lauren Vigil, siblings, Richard and wife Kay, Vivian, Lorraine , and Neva as well as many other family and friends. Mr. Bell served in the United States Army Air Corps, attended Drake University and worked for GAF Ozalid Corporation for over 35 years before retiring in 1991. BETIN -- Richard George Betin, 56, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Richard was the youngest in a family of two sisters and a brother. His family emigrated from Europe after World War II to Texas, where Richard was the first of his family to be born a US citizen. He was born in Dallas in 1953 and spent his early years in Dallas And Austin, graduating from high school and attending Eastfield College and the University of Texas at Austin. Richard was a technician and foreman in the air conditioning business before changing careers to the microprocessor industry and moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was proud of the work he and his fellow team members performed and was fortunate to work on several innovative processes. He was a well-respected team member of Intel for more than 15 years at the time of his sudden death. Richard had many interests, especially travel and the outdoors. He never spoke unkindly of others. He was an attentive uncle and great uncle to his nieces and nephews in Texas. His passing has left a hole in the hearts of those who loved him and he will be deeply missed by his entire family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother John of Denver, CO; his sister Irene of Aurora, CO, sister, Barbara and husband Mark Macha of Highland Village, TX; along with aunts, and uncle, nieces and other family members. BIGGS -- Colonel George Joseph Biggs, USAF (Ret.), passed away on Veterans Day, November 11, 2009. Colonel Biggs, who was known to everyone as "Joe", was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 8, 1918 to Augusta and George Biggs. He was 91 years old. Colonel Biggs was a 1937 graduate of Jamaica High School in Queens, New York. He was commissioned in the Army Reserves in 1941 and called to active duty in 1942. He completed pilot training at Williams AFB, Arizona; Mather Field, California; Columbia Army Airfield, South Carolina; and Hunter Field, Georgia, and went on to fly 82 missions in B-25 bombers in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. His missions were both low level, including strafing, and high level with targets consisting of supply depots, bridges, and railroad yards in Burma. Following the War, Joe served as a Budget and Fiscal Officer in Assignments with the USAF Watson Laboratories at Red Bank, New Jersey, and the Directorate of Intelligence at USAF Headquarters, The Pentagon, until 1953. His next 14 years were with the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Lincoln AFB, Nebraska, and Moron and Torrejon Air Bases in Spain. Among his many duties were serving as a B-47 medium bomber Aircraft Commander, Squadron Commander, and Vice Wing Commander. He also piloted KC-135 jet tankers while stationed in Spain. Joe left SAC in 1967 to become Chief of Aircraft Maintenance for the Air Force Eastern Test Range at Patrick AFB, Florida. On July 29, 1968, he received his final assignment at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, where he served as Commander of the 4905th Maintenance and Supply Group. Upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1972, he received the Legion of Merit, a high-ranking decoration, for exceptionally outstanding service to the United States. During his 30-year service career, Joe earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Air Medals, and three Air Force Commendation Medals among other military decorations. At retirement, he held the dual aeronautical ratings of Command Pilot and Navigator. While in the Air Force, Joe earned a BS degree in Military Science from the University of Maryland. In retirement, he earned an MBA from the University of New Mexico. Joe resided in Albuquerque since 1968. He was a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, serving several terms as President of the Parish Council and the Holy Name Society. In recent years he lived in the Montebello retirement community and served as President of the Resident's Council until his death. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Irene Crawford; a son, Michael Crawford Biggs; his mother, Augusta; his father, George; and sisters Lillian, Viola and Eleanor. He is survived by his sons George Joseph Biggs and wife Prompon and step-daughter Supphanida of Albuquerque; James Michael Biggs and wife Diane of Albuquerque and their children Jennifer Keltos and husband Michael of Springboro, Ohio, Jill Spears and husband James of Ocoee, Florida, and Joseph Biggs of Chicago, Illinois; and daughter Patricia Anne Morrisette and husband Robert of Huntington Beach, California, and their children Andrea of New York City, Hayley of Los Angeles, California, and Corey of Huntington Beach. Joe had five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Benjamin Keltos; and Hayden, Connor, and Adeline Spears. Joe was, put simply, a good and generous man, highly respected and admired by family and friends alike. He will be very much missed by all. BORG -- Pearl Borg, 96, went home to her Savior on Thursday, November 5, 2009 in Princeton Place Nursing Facility with her friends at her side. She was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and retired to Albuquerque in 1990 with three long-time lady friends. She is predeceased by her parents and Harold, her husband of 50+ years. Pearl was an avid musician, singing in her church choir and other choral groups. In 1946, she attended her first women's barber shop quartet competition. At the organizational meeting, Pearl was invited to become a member of the first Board of Directors of Sweet Adelines, Inc. She was later elected President, serving two terms. During her second term, the organization became International with the addition of Canadian Chapters. Pearl sang tenor in a championship quartet, the Tune Twisters. In the 1950's, she sang with the Happy Harmonizers, a popular International medalist quartet. She also directed three choruses through the years in the Chicago area. Pearl also served as editor of The Pitch Pipe, the official publication of the Sweet Adelines International, for over 16 years. Upon moving to Albuquerque, she transferred her membership to the Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus. Throughout her life, Pearl never wavered in her faith as an Anglican, serving in many capacities, as well as singing in choirs. Pearl is survived by her three dear friends, Martie Haden, Patricia Newell and Denise Benshish and her "puppies" Abby and Duke. Her signature was always "With a Song in My Heart." BROWN -- Kenneth George Brown, 67, born February 4, 1942, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester K. Brown and Louise U. Brown; grandparents Nellie Shibley Mahboub and Said Mahboub; niece Shirley Rosie Brown,; and father-in-law Sal Gurule, whom he looked to as a Father and Friend. He is survived by his wife and friend of 37 years, Shirley Brown; and sons Thomas Brown and Kenny Brown; his three dearly loved grandchildren Zoey, Madison and Diego; his sister Annelle, husband (Gary); and godson, Sean; sister Angelle Brown; and brother Ron and his wife Sue, and their children Caton and Chet. Shirley's family was very dear and close to Kenneth. He loved and respected his mother-in-law Emma; brothers-in-law Peter Gurule (Ronnie and Steven), Ken Gurule, Jerry Gurule and wife Lisa (Kyle, Carey and Allison), Billy Gurule (Samuel, Samantha, Matthew, Jonathan), Keith Gurule and wife Janell (Bryce); sister-in-law Diane Jackson and husband Rodney (Joey, Jennifer and Tyler), and many friends and colleagues who loved and respected him. He attended grade school and high school at Our Lady of Sorrows, Bernalillo and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law. He served as an assistant district attorney, had a law practice in Bernalillo for nine years during which time he served as the Town Attorney, and in 1984 he was elected District Court Judge in the 13th Judicial District, a position he held for twenty years. He received numerous awards and recognitions for his service as District Judge and was responsible for the creation of Grade Court, a specialty program he started in 1999 that is credited with keeping young people in school and resulting in a very low rate of recidivism. Ken loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, which was the major reason he retired from the bench. He will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched during his career. CATON -- Roy Duane Caton, 74, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on November 7 2009. Roy is survived by his wife Ingrid, daughter Tina, son Roy Jr., sister Judy Rivera, brother-in-law Crescencio L. Rivera, extended family and many wonderful friends. Roy was born 6/15/1935 in Kansas City Mo. to father Roy Allen Caton and mother Ada Alburtis Caton. He was raised on the Navajo reservation until the age of nine, when his family moved to Albuquerque and his father began work on the Manhattan Project. Roy attended Coronado Elem., Ernie Pyle JHS and Albuquerque HS - graduating in 1953. He trained as a pilot in 1958 and served in the Roadrunners squadron of the NM National Guard. A UNM alumnus, he earned a PhD in education administration in 1973. He met his wife of 49 years, Ingrid, while attending college. An educator for 30 years he was there from the beginning of the Albuquerque Skill Center as well as Albuquerque TVI. He had a high regard for his students. Musically inclined, he sang and played four musical instruments, celebrating a lifelong love of music. A member of four Albuquerque bands, he played with the Ortiz Trio. He sang in many venues from the church choir to Popejoy's presentation of Carmina Burana. His final resting place will be the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial services are pending.

CONANT -- Kathleen "Kat" Elizabeth McGrath, age 95, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009. She was born in Los Angeles, CA. When she was seven, the family moved to Belen where her father was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. Kat often recalled that the first time she saw Belen it had no paved streets or electricity. After graduating from Belen High School she married Clifton Conant, living first at Casa Colorada, NM, and then settling in Bosque, NM, where he ran the Conant store and was postmaster. Kat worked in banking at First National and then Ranchers State. After retiring, they sold the store and moved to Rio Communities. Kat and Clifton were familiar faces at Sugar Bowl Lanes, where Kat continued bowling into her 80s. She also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, reading and travel. One of the highlights of her travels was a visit to County Cork, Ireland, where her grandfather was born. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Belen Parish. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters; one brother and a grandson, Edward Peter. Kat is survived by her daughters, Janis Peter and husband, Eddy of Belen and Annette Hardern and Maxine Conant, both of Rio Communities; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a special sister-in-law, Clara McGrath of Midland, TX. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, on Tuesday, November 17, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Wednesday, November 18, at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery. DE VARGAS -- Victor Anthony De Vargas. IN HONOR OF OUR DEVOTED VETERANS ON VETERANS DAY. Victor Anthony De Vargas was born and raised in Taos, NM, where he honored his heritage, traditions, and family. He passed away suddenly, Saturday, October 24, 2009. Victor retired from the military after honorably serving his country in the US Army. As well, he retired from the VA Medical Center. Services were held, and he was buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 with US Army Retired Honors. Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Susan; four loving children, Victoria and husband, Jeff, Liza, Angela and husband, Sean, and Nathan; seven grandchildren, Derek, Anthony, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, Nathan, Liliana, and Chloe; and numerous other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. DISANTI -- Johnny L. "Papa" DiSanti, born on July 4, 1927 in Pueblo, Colorado, slipped away Tuesday, November 10, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years, Patty; sons, Rocky of Albuquerque, David and wife Debbie of Albuquerque, Danny and wife Trisha of Torrance, CA; daughters, Lesley Haney and husband Tim of Mission Viejo, CA, Vickie Robertson and husband Rich of Albuquerque, and Rose Anna of Albuquerque. Papa is also survived by his granddaughters, Gina Lance and husband Jeff of Mission Viejo, Ca, Michele Connors and husband Matt of Sandia Park, NM; grandsons, Josh Haney and wife Carla of Chula Vista, CA, Nick Robertson and wife Theresa of Albuquerque, Rocky Robertson of Albuquerque, Doug DiSanti of Torrance, CA, and Daniel DiSanti of Torrance, CA; great- grandsons, Daniel and Aiden Connors, Noah and Adam Lance and Devin Poole; and great- granddaughters, Maycie Robertson, Jayly Poole and Brooke Robertson. Johnny is also survived by his sisters, Louise Shank and RoseMarie Miller of Albuquerque and his brother Ed DiSanti of Pueblo, Co. as well as numerous other family members and good friend Bill Rivera. He was preceded in death by his parents Rocky and Vera Rose DiSanti, and his mother-in-law Goldie Mitchell. Mr. DiSanti was a line driver, retiring from Consolidated Freightways in 1989, after more than 30 years and 3 million safe driving miles. Johnny served in the Army Air Corps in the occupation of Japan, on the crew of the Dixie Dude "fastest plane in Japan". FULTON -- Michelle Diane Fulton - Our beloved Michelle went to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2009. "Shelly" was born in Alexandria, Virginia on January 1, 1965. Her family moved to California in the mid 1970's and she attended high school in San Luis Obispo, California. Michelle graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco with a B. S. degree and went on to The Monterey School of Law where she again graduated with honors and received her law degree from the state of California. Michelle practiced law very successfully in the San Francisco Bay area for ten years. She relocated to the Albuquerque area in 2003 to be near her family and resided in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque before her marriage in 2005 to Bob Fulton of Kansas City. Michelle loved the Lord and was a member of Faith Church in Rio Rancho where the couple also resided. Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Robert Fulton; parents, Joseph and Eloise Perry; brothers Michael, Mark and wife Cheryl and their children Audrey, Emily, and Olivia of Arroyo Grande, CA., and Matthew and wife Holly and children Nathan and Alexis of Fresno, CA. Michelle will be missed for her sparkling smile and contagious and happy personality. She was an avid animal lover and adopted many pets during her lifetime. HERMAN -- Donna Lee Herman, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother born June 5, 1938 passed away peacefully in her home November 12, 2009. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Ecko and Ruth Boelman; her brother, Delmer Boelman and her loving husband David O. Herman. Dave and Donna started to build their life together in Albuquerque over a half a century ago coming from Minnesota and falling in love with the Southwest. They made many life-long friends, raised a family and had the wonderful opportunity to travel around the world with great people at KOBTV and throughout the community. Donna is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Morrison and Jodi Ramsbacher; her grandchildren, Janis McBroom, David McBroom, Kari McBroom, Dustin Ramsbacher, Mari Ramsbacher and Jada McBroom; her brothers and sisters, Wendell Boelman, Ecko Boelman Junior, William Boelman, Bev Soladay and Lori Boelman. HYMES -- Larry Eugene Hymes, age 69, bid a final farewell to this world on Friday, November 13, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family at his side. Larry is survived by his wife, Hyang Mi; son Coby; and daughter Shanna, her husband Dawson and three grandchildren, Joshua Stephen, Caleb and Mary Beth. Larry was born in Unionville, MO in 1940, to Lucy and George. Larry moved to Albuquerque in 1961, and later graduated with a master's degree from UNM. Larry was employed and retired from the Department of Energy. After retiring he started his own business, Larry's Tax Services. Larry was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing poker and spending time with his family and many lifelong friends. Larry will be missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and his family and friends will hold a private service to celebrate Larry's life. He will be dearly missed.

KEARNEY -- MICHAEL. Professor Michael Clark Kearney, of Albuquerque and Moreno Valley, CA, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his home in Moreno Valley. He was with his loving family and friends to the end. Dr. Kearney was born on December 22, 1937. He was the son of Dr. Francis Kearney, a physician and Ellen Clark Kearney, a nurse. He grew up in Hayward, California, among a lively family of sister, cousins, aunts and uncles. After graduating from Hayward High School in 1955, he attended the University of California, Berkeley where he received his BA degree in 1963. He went on to attend graduate school at UC Berkeley, receiving a Ph.D in Anthropology in 1968. In September of 1968, Dr. Kearney became a faculty member of the Anthropology Department at University of California, Riverside. He taught, did internationally respected research, and continued writing after his retirement in 2008. In his 40 years at UC Riverside, Dr. Kearney mentored and influenced countless students and their careers. His area of study was Mexico, working with indigenous peoples, Zapotec and Mixtec. He was also a world renowned expert in border studies and immigration and a pioneering theorist on transnational communities, about which he wrote many books and articles. Dr. Kearney is survived by his wife of 33 years, Professor Carole Nagengast of The University of New Mexico at Albuquerque; his daughter and son-in-law Mary Anne Connelly-Weiss and James Weiss; son John Connelly; and grandsons Seth, Christopher, John, and Daniel Connelly. He was predeceased by his daughter Claire Nicole Connelly, a Riverside, CA, police officer who died in the line of duty in 1998. He is also survived by his loving sister Sheila Kearney McClellan and her partner Ethel- May Shaw; niece and nephew Katie Greathouse, and Ian McClellan. Dr. Kearney leaves legions of cousins and other relatives, dear colleagues and life-long friends as well. Graveside services for family and close friends are to be held on Wednesday November 18, 2009 at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Riverside, CA. KELLEY -- Kerry L Kelley passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the age of 56, after battling cancer. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dennis P. Kelley; daughter Aubrey Kelley; daughter Amy Jenkins and husband Jason; two granddaughters: Keira and Karina Jenkins; and daughter of the heart Manda Varela. Mary was an accomplished musician both pianist and organist and was the organist at various churches, most recently St. Timothy's Lutheran. Mary was bookkeeper and corporate officer for Krum Distributing in Santa Fe and Baum's Music in Albuquerque. She enjoyed being a Camp Fire Girl Leader, selling Avon, following the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, quilting, and most importantly traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. MARTINEZ -- Fela Rafaelita, age 85, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, went peacefully to meet her Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009. She looked forward to Sunday morning when Eucharistic Ministers came to visit her and give her communion. Fela loved to go to the Senior Citizen Center where she had a lot of friends. She liked to play Spanish bingo. Fela loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, and loved for them to make her laugh. Fela loved to color and collected pictures of everybody that would give her one. She also loved to go to family gatherings. Fela helped all the family raise their children. They loved her dearly and they will always have fond memories. She will be greatly missed by all. MCKINNON -- Paula McKinnon, 66, of Seattle and Cuernavaca, Mexico, died of pancreatic cancer on November 7, 2009. Born and raised in Albuquerque NM, she was a 1962 graduate of Valley High School and attended UNM. A resident of Seattle for over 40 years, in 2007 she relocated to Cuernavaca. A lifelong Democrat, she was champion of the underdog up until the very last beat of her bleeding heart. She was preceded in death by parents Angus and Lovey McKinnon; stepmother Sibby McKinnon; sisters Joan Allen and Molly Burnett; brother Dan McKinnon- all of Albuquerque. MCMINN -- Marjorie Funkhouser McMinn passed away on November 11, 2009. Marj was born on January 29, 1932, to Hazel and Kenneth Funkhouser, Marj grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, and came to New Mexico to study art at UNM. At the university she was a member and president of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She graduated with a BA degree in 1953. Marj was briefly married to Frank McMinn, her college sweetheart. Her first job was as a window display artist at Fedway Department Store. When it closed she worked as a graphic artist for several companies, and later started her own graphics art business. After retirement Marj volunteered her time for the Albuquerque Police Department, the New Mexico Zoological Society, and the St. John's Cathedral thrift shop. Marj loved reading, working puzzles, playing bridge and other games, her exercise class at St. Timothy's Church, and going out to lunch with friends. She is survived by her sister JoAnn Hayes of Liberty Lake, WA; nephews Kenneth Hayes (Sue) Arkansas, Christopher Hayes (Andrea) Minnesota, Jeffrey Hayes, Colorado; and niece Julie Adams (John) California, and several great-nieces and nephews. The family thanks Marj's many friends who visited and sent cards and letters during her illness, and especially thanks those she called her extended family who gave her comfort and contentment during her last days. Special thanks also to Hospice de la Luz, and the caregivers provided by Elder Care Solutions who gave her professional and compassionate home care 24/7; enabling Marj to remain at home with her cats Sally and Sam, and Charley, the visiting roadrunner. MORALES -- Louisa Morales, age 84, a long time resident of La Jara, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2009. She was born on May 1, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents, Federico and Floripa Morales; her husband, Onesimo Morales; four sons, Pancho, Ronnie Morales and two infant sons; a sister, Beatrice Trujillo; two brothers, Modesto and Juan Chavez; and a brother-in-law, Ceilo Trujillo. She is survived by seven daughters, Susie Trujillo and husband Jimmy of La Jara, Barbara Trujillo and husband Robert of Cuba, Marline Chavez and husband Ernesto of Rio Rancho, Rosita Martinez and husband Dennis of El Rito, Rebecca Apodaca and friend Pat of Rio Rancho, Genevive Martinez of Santa Fe, Loreda Chacon and husband Eric of Llaves; three sons, Freddie Trujillo and wife Joann of Rio Rancho, Diego Morales of La Jara, and Mark Morales and wife Emily also of La Jara. Also surviving are one brother, Nestor Chavez and wife Margie; one sister, Elizaida Valdez of Bernalillo, two sister-in-laws, Erlinda Chavez and Eremita Chavez; 33 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and other numerous relatives and friends. Visitations will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Santo Nino Catholic Church in La Jara, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church. NAIL -- Gladys May Nail, 100, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Monday, November 9, 2009. NORRIS -- Leslie Anne Norris (Wickman) Leslie was a true Renaissance woman who relished being both creative and bold. Her talents knew no limits and included singing, sewing, painting, drawing, experimenting with cooking, writing stories, and creating heartfelt poetry. During her life she was a cheerleader, a drama club member, a camper, a disco music fan, an 80's film buff, and a world traveler. POZENEL -- Patricia F. Pozenel, 77, of Albuquerque, died on Sunday evening, November 8, 2009, following a brief illness and surrounded by family. Patricia was born on September 22, 1932 in Geneva, New York, the only daughter of Anna and Patrick Flynn. Patricia graduated from Syracuse University in 1954 with a B.A. in journalism. In 1957, after passing through Albuquerque with a college girlfriend to find a new life in California, she soon returned to the Duke City to settle and begin a career in newspaper journalism. In 1959, however, she ventured into social work, beginning a 34-year career with the State of New Mexico, principally in child- and foster-care services, retiring in 1993. In September 1959, she married Bill Pozenel, of Ljubljana, Slovenia, who was then known as Albuquerque's "Man Without a Country," because of the support he received from ordinary Albuquerque citizens in winning him political asylum and eventual U.S. citizenship. Bill predeceased Patricia in 1972, and she never remarried. Patricia was much loved by her Syracuse University classmates, by former social services co-workers, by members of her parish, by other parents of her son's classmates at Albuquerque Academy, and by scores of acquaintances whose lives she touched. Patricia was a passionate sports fan, particularly following the teams of Syracuse University, and she was delighted that her adored Yankees won their 27th title. Patricia is survived by her only son, Jay, and his wife, Mary Cronin, and their daughter, Maggie Pozenel, of Croton on Hudson, New York. She is also survived by her beloved Albuquerque "family," the Mummeys and Martinezes. A memorial will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. PRECORD -- Philip Lee Precord departed this life suddenly on November 10, 2009. He was born April 2, 1961, to Ralph R. and Beedia M. Precord in Detroit, Michigan. Phil graduated from Fountain Fort Carson High School and lived most of his life in Fountain, CO. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and waited impatiently each year for Elk Season to arrive. It's safe to say that the only thing he loved more than hunting was his family. He was preceded in death by both parents. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; his daughter, Megan; his son, Cameron; and his precious granddaughter, Tateum. He also leaves behind a brother, Ralph (Joyce); and nephew, Ross Precord of Colorado Springs, CO. He was currently employed by Hewlett Packard Corporation and JC Penney. His early departure leaves the entire family with a tremendous hole. All those that knew him will miss him. ROGERS -- Nancy Wallingford Rogers of Rio Rancho suddenly and unexpectedly passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 from a heart attack. She leaves behind her soul mate and loving husband of 46 years, Richard E. Rogers. Nancy was born May 17, 1941, in Louisville Kentucky to Mildred Parr Denson Wallingford and Joseph Harold Wallingford. She attended the University of Louisville where she met the love of her life. Immediately following their marriage on July 27, 1963, Dick and Nancy moved to Albuquerque where she raised her family and became exceptionally involved in the community. They remained in Albuquerque for over 40 years before moving to Rio Rancho. Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, she will be long remembered for her Christian faith, creativity, energy, compassion, and incredible artistic talent. Nancy was a long time member of Monte Vista Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was active in the choir. Many aspects of the church bear her indelible mark as a talented artist and graphic designer. Nancy's artistic and creative talents were enjoyed by many through over 30 years with Musical Theatre of the Southwest (Formerly ACLOA) working back stage in makeup, props, stage-managing, scene painting, and costuming. She was also an active member of the Colored Pencil Society, Enchanted Painters, Albuquerque Artist Guild, The Rio Rancho Artist Association, and many other artistic endeavors. Nancy, and her beloved four-legged sidekick Kellogg, were active in Greyhound Rescue Society, Pet Therapy, and known for many special appearances in Barkus Parades and special events together. She is also known to many as Colors the Clown. For several years Nancy was active in the Presbyterian Healthcare Volunteer Services and is a past Chairman. In that capacity she assisted countless people at Kaseman and Presbyterian hospitals exhibiting her legacy of compassion, selfless service, and care. She is survived by her loving husband; son, the Reverend David Wilson Rogers and wife, Kimberly of Carlsbad, NM; and daughter, Patti Cook and husband, Randy of Bishop, CA. She has eight grandchildren, Celica, Tanin, and Randi Jo Cook, Celeste, Jacob, and Rachel Rogers, Jonathan McIlwee, and Josh Smith. Nancy also leaves brothers, Joseph Wallingford and wife, Martha, and Dick Wallingford and wife, Cheri both of Louisville, Kentucky. Monte Vista Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will host a worshipful celebration of her life on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. with the Reverend Laurie Lewis officiating. URBANEK -- Carrie V. Urbanek passed away on Friday, November 6, 2009. She was born Carrie Viola Warren in Clear Creek Township, Ellsworth County, Kansas. She graduated from high school in Ellsworth Kansas and went to work as a legal secretary two months before her graduation and was in service in Social Security and Internal Revenue Federal agencies, the Compton, California Police Department, and the Kansas State Banking Department until she retired. When she married Art Urbanek in 1931 she converted to the Catholic religion and they farmed in Kansas for many years. They celebrated more than 50 years together before his death in 1986. She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1991 to be near family. She was a physically active person, receiving an acknowledgment for walking a hundred miles. She is survived by her two daughters Joan Browne of Albuquerque and Marjorie Leitner of Baldwin City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She has three surviving brothers, Bill Warren of Redding, California, Tom Warren of Portland, Oregon and Melvin Warren of Mt. Vernon, Washington. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella in Topeka, Kansas. After moving to Albuquerque she was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church for eighteen years and regularly contributed to many charitable organizations. She supported a seminarian in South America and bought a chalice for another young man when he became a priest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you contribute to Joy Junction Shelter, 4500 Second St. Albuquerque, New Mexico. WEAVER -- June Northrop Weaver passed away after a lengthy illness in Green Valley, AZ on October 31, 2009. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Northrop. A graduate of UNM and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, June taught Earth Science at Creighton Jr. High in Lakewood, CO for 20 years. She is survived by her husband Earl "Buzz" Weaver; three children, Michael (Paula), Sandy Tyler (Steve), and Brad. grand children; Kelli Oldham, Kerri Holman, Matthew Tyler, Hilary Tyler, Sean Weaver, and Hannah Weaver. WHITWELL -- Josephine Edith Whitwell, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1999, died Monday, November 9, 2009 after a long illness. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and Emil Aysseh of New Canaan, CT; and her son, Gordon and his wife, Judy of Albuquerque. Josephine has six grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Whitwell; her parents, Frank and Josephine Parizek; and brothers, Edward Parry and Frank Parizek. Josephine was born on August 17, 1920 in La Grange, IL. After the birth of her children, she lived in Northfield, IL for many years. Josephine was involved in her children's schools and participated in many charitable works. She was a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute and later became an accomplished artist, interior designer, and antiques dealer. Josephine and her husband were former residents of Greenwich, CT and Longboat Key, FL. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Josephine will be missed by all who knew and loved her. After an intimate family graveside service, Josephine will be entombed in the Patio of Angels at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. WYLIE -- Mary G. Wylie passed away suddenly on November 12, 2009. Daughter of Rosendo Ramon Gallegos and Margarita Francisca Salazar, Mary, was born September 23, 1929 in Belen, New Mexico. She was a registered nurse working for the Santa Fe Railroad Hospital for 38 years. Mary and her husband Warren were members of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mary will always be remembered for her love and spoiling of her family and her beloved Dachsunds. Mary is survived by her much loved husband of 40 years, Warren William Wylie, her sister, Mrs. Ernest Padilla, and her brother Rosendo "Buddy" Gallegos. She leaves behind her son John Stephen Mahony, and her stepdaughter Connie Trainum and stepson Phil Wylie, and numerous cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her stepson Bruce Wylie.
