ELLIOTT -- Olivia M. Elliott--Beloved mother, grandmother, great, and great-great-grandmother, gently walked into the sunset Friday, November 6, 2009. Heart of our hearts, sunrise of our morning, beloved and cherished, forever and after. Matriarch most inspiring, steady hands graced with strength, to guide and soothe. Unselfish love, endearing and enduring, bright and beautiful, most captivating and complete. Precious, the laughter of your eyes, reflections of spirit, uplifting and enchanting. Hawaii's beautiful blossom, softly spinning a graceful dance in the days of your youth, your sweet song of melody carried on high, intriguing, entwining ever captivating our hearts. In sons, Manny, Marshall and Keith, your humble pride, your given reason, your unconditional love, as ever, time and circumstance shall crash sudden waves on the most steadfast of shores. In Robert, you found a companion, a renewed love, a sharing of laughter and adventure. The joy of your travels, command of wind, carefree, untethered, new songs yet to sing. In you, his sons found respect honor and admiration, all encompassed within an unquestioned acceptance. We have been witness to courage unequaled, strength unrivaled, inspiration beyond measure in the midst of a storm. Solid determination offered not one moment to surrender, immovable resolve tread boldly upon fear. We are enriched immensely to know you, the continuance of your glorious spirit breathes life in and about us. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Quintana of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Marla Tiers of Phoenix, AZ and husband, Mike, Karen Barreras of Albuquerque and husband, Jaimey, Kim Samson of Phoenix, AZ and husband, Dale Jr., and Roland Quintana of Albuquerque and wife, Denise. Steve was blessed with four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Tijeras, NM in 1911, Steve studied the art of barbering as a young adult. He worked his way up to Manager of the Hilton Hotel Barber Shop in downtown Albuquerque. From there he went on to open a few barber shops of his own where he continued to cut hair well into his 80's. Throughout his entire career, he would use his spare time to volunteer at several nursing homes around Albuquerque providing free haircuts for the residents. He kept a list of those whose hair he cut so he would make sure to remember their names when he returned. Steve was drafted into the Army in 1943 and proudly served as a gun crewman in World War II in Middle Europe until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was awarded several military service medals. His commanding officers called upon Steve to serve as the barber for his unit and he did so with pride. He often shared stories of his military service with his family and was honored to have served his country. Steve was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, serving as an Usher for over 50 years and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus until his death. GOOD -- Sean Michael Good, 22, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Houston, Texas where he was born on June 24, 1987. He lived in Texas until moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1997. Sean is deeply loved and was survived by his father Phillip and stepmother Cindy Good of League City, Texas; mother, Sharon and stepfather Gary Sanders of, Albuquerque, New Mexico; beloved brother, Ryan Eric Good; grandparents, Burl Good, Yvonne and Glen Allen and Joseph and Angela Jacquez; and numerous other loving family and friends. Sean was a member of the 2005 graduating class at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque. He was a student at the University of New Mexico and his goal was to pursue a degree in Engineering. Sean loved being a student, at which he excelled, was a member of honorary fraternities, and consistently made the Dean's list. His interests ranged widely and he loved learning. He worked as a reporter for the UNM Daily Lobo. Sean loved sharing an apartment in the UNM area with his best friend, brother, Ryan whom he looked up to, respected greatly, and wanted to be like. Sean was highly creative and had an awesome sense of humor. He loved Sponge Bob, Avatar, Breaking Bad (was thrilled to have met the crew and Brian Cranston on film location), Family Guy, and Flight of the Conchords. He could quote dialogue from any episode from any season of Seinfeld. Sean had a unique personality and a special charm that touched everybody that he met. He was generous, kind, and thoughtful. He loved kids and was often found at the "kid table" at any family event. He loved his dog, Bear, his running and study buddy. He enjoyed playing his guitar and writing his own music. Music, his artwork, and movies were his loves but his greatest love was the Lord. From Sean's MySpace site, he said, "I am obsessed with Jesus Christ and I am trying hard to follow Him". Sean struggled with ADD and used Ritalin as a means to realize his full potential, which was extremely important to him. This eventually led to a painful addiction which he courageously fought and tried to control. It was a battle that he lost and he died of an accidental overdose. This drug is prescribed as a medicine but is also one of the top 10 addictive drugs. We hope each parent understands the risks of treating their child with this drug or any amphetamine-based medicine. This addiction took Sean's life, but now he is at peace. We know God took his pain away and he is in heaven now with his family and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at The Church of the Risen Savior at 3:00 p.m., 7701 Wyoming Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.

POWELL -- William Ray (Bill) Powell, 78, resident of Prescott, AZ since 1984, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 9, 2009. He was born to Louis C and Ella Dienstbier Powell in Ravenna, NE on March 14, 1931. He lived a colorful, adventurous (and sometimes mis-adventurous) childhood, learning solid values of duty, hard work, and service to others, always infused with fun. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1949. During his college years in Nebraska, he lettered in four sports; football, basketball, track, and golf. He remained a lifelong, dedicated Huskers fan. In his sophomore year, he made the decision to leave the light hearted life of a college student athlete, making the sacrifice to serve his country by joining the Navy during the Korean War. It was during that service in 1953 that he suffered a catastrophic brain injury, leaving him in a coma for six weeks, paralyzed on his right side, and unable to speak. After years of persevering through difficult, and sometimes excruciating rehabilitation in Naval and VA hospitals, he resumed his college work, transferring to Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marjorie Dunwiddie. They were married on March 7, 1957. Bill then graduated in 1959 with a BS in Business Administration. He served in VA hospitals in Omaha, Indianapolis, Memphis, Muskogee, and finally Albuquerque, NM, where he retired as the Chief of Prosthetics for the Southwestern Region in 1980. In 1981, he received Christ as his Savior and was changed for eternity. In 1984 Bill and Marjorie moved to Prescott, not to retire, but to begin a new chapter of service to their community and church. Bill served on the Prescott 20/20 Committee, Prescott Blind Center Board, the Prescott Evening Lions Club in various capacities including president, later transferring to the Sunrise Lions Club, where he was involved with many community projects. He was a member of the Village Idiots, a neighborhood men's lunch group. At Willow Hills Baptist Church, Bill served as deacon and in many other capacities. As his health began to decline in 2006, Bill returned to the VA hospital system in Prescott, this time as a resident in long term care. He continued to serve others, always finding the positive side, encouraging staff and fellow veterans alike. Survivors include his sweetheart of 52 years, Marjorie; daughters Julie Jenkins, Linda Kettles; son-in-law, Richey Kettles; honorary daughter Lori Wallace; honorary son Randy Goodsell; grandchildren Jessica Kettles, Cheyenne Kettles, and Sean Dolan. brother Vern Powell; nephews Jeffrey, Robert, and Dave Powell, Scott and Bruce Dunwiddie.
