BEAN -- Richard Gates (Dick) Bean, Sr. of Roswell, New Mexico died peacefully the afternoon of Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the age of 90 while watching the Dallas Cowboys football game. A life-long resident of Roswell, New Mexico, Mr. Bean was born on the family farm to the late Robert Perry Bean, Jr. and Verda Lee Gates Bean on December 1, 1918. In his youth, Mr. Bean had an extensive paper route throughout Roswell and was a master tennis player. He also served as the fingerprint technician for his father who was the Sheriff of Chaves County. Mr. Bean graduated from Roswell High School in 1936. In 1942, he graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He then attended the University of Arizona School of Law, graduating second in the class of 1946. Mr. Bean then returned to Roswell to begin his sixty-three year practice of law, first in the field of family law and then later in estate planning and trusts. Mr. Bean was elected to two terms as the Roswell City Attorney in 1952 and 1954 and served as the president of the Chaves County Bar Association in 1953 and 1954. He also served on the School Board from 1959 through 1965 and served as a County Commissioner of Chaves County from 1974 to 1976. In 1995, at the age of 76, Mr. Bean was elected the Chaves County Probate Court Judge, serving two consecutive four-year terms. Mr. Bean was fondly known as "Mr. Democrat" in Chaves County. Mr. Bean was a member of the Chaves County Bar Association and was active in the Roswell Sertoma Club for more than 60 years, receiving the "Service to Mankind" award in the 1970s. He served on the boards of the Roswell Humane Society and the Roswell Boys Club. Mr. Bean also collected vintage cars and was an active member of the Valley Vintage Antique Car Club. Mr. Bean is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Winder Bean; and their children, son Richard Gates Bean, Jr. and his wife Lynda of Harker Heights, Texas; and daughter Martha Lee Bean of Allen, Texas. He also is survived by his three grandsons, Richard Gates Bean, III, Taylor Rhea Bean, and Morgan Alexander Bean, all of Harker Heights, Texas; Mr. Bean also is survived by four nephews, R. Perry Bean, IV and his wife Sue of Midlothian, Texas, William W. (Tad) Osborn and his wife Kim of Roswell, New Mexico, John Winder and his wife Patti of Pullman, Washington, and Jim Winder and his wife Katrina of Hillsboro, New Mexico; Mr. Bean also is survived by four nieces, Patricia Bean Mason and her husband Ben of Taos, New Mexico, Janet "Enid" Osborn-Schneidemen and her husband Jay of Santa Barbara, California, Louise Long of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Nancy Winder-Mitthof and her husband Axel of Viola, Idaho. Also surviving Mr. Bean are his sister-in-law Hermie Childs Bean Davis of Midlothian, Texas; and his adopted son J. T Bowyer, his wife Iris and daughter Lindsey of Harker Heights, Texas Mr. Bean was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Perry Bean, III; and his nephew Richard Terry Bean. Pallbearers are J. T. Bowyer, William W. (Tad) Osborn, Ben Mason, Kenny Forrest, Greg Eiffert and Parker Eiffert. Honorary Pallbearers are Senator Timothy Z. Jennings, Tom Jennings, Robert Chewning, Morgan Nelson, Lowell Davina, Joe Phillips, Lowell Hughes, Stan Santheson, James P. Johns, Tim Whalen, Charles Chewning, John Bonds and all members of the Chaves County Bar Association. Services for Richard Gates (Dick) Bean will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Roswell, New Mexico. Interment will immediately follow the services at South Park Cemetery in Roswell. Preceding the services, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at 12:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. All funeral arrangements are being handled by LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Roswell, New Mexico. Flowers may be sent to LaGrone's Funeral Home or to the First United Methodist Church. BOOTHE -- Lydia Carr Boothe, passed away on November 1, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born to Horace and Jeanne Carr in New Orleans, LA. Lily devoted her life to her family and God; her courage and faith inspired all who knew her. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel, and a true southern lady. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. FOX -- Dale H. Fox, 76, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Born in Port Huron, MI, he moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1970. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Luana; children, Carrie Diedrich and husband Bill, Jeff Fox and wife Deena, Brenda Satar, Mike Hendricks and wife Nancy, Tim Fox and wife Julia, Mark Hendricks and wife Sunnee and Jill Griggs and husband Donald. Dale is also survived by his brother, Gary Fox and wife Evi; brother-in-law Larry Strickland and wife Sheriece; grandchildren, Brian Diedrich and wife Ashleigh, Kristi Diedrich, Mollie Brown and husband Jake, Chris Satar, Jacob Fox, Isaac Fox, Jason Fox, Jaeden Hendricks, Railee Hendricks, Hannah Williams, Jonathon Fox, Hans Hendricks, Ashley Fox, Heather Fox and Emma Griggs; great-grandchildren Landon and Bristol and many other family and friends. He was master and companion to Murphy, his loving and faithful Lhaso Apso. Mr. Fox served in the US Air Force, 98th Air Refueling Squadron, managed shoe stores and department stores, designed and manufactured shoes, designed and manufactured clothing and bootjack. He was a designer and manufacturer of furniture and doors, land developer and house flipper - extraordinaire, designer and manufacturer of a loving family and community of friends. He was also Mens Leather Clothing Designer of the year in 1978, Autumn Wood Furniture and Door/Fox Manufacturing owner/partner with stores in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Las Cruces specializing in custom woodwork from 1974 to the present. He was New Mexico Small Business Person of the Year in 1992, National Blue Chip Award for overcoming adversity in business also in 1992, Albuquerque Mover and Shaker in 1993, Albuquerque Mayoral Candidate in 1993, opened first free-standing shoe store in the U.S., the ultimate salesman all through his life - "always round up!", mentor, entrepreneur, and community advocate (and rebel rouser). He was a founding member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Denver, CO, and actively envolved member of New Covenant Church, team member on mission trips to El Salvador to build houses and build relationships with the people, master door greeter and hugger at New Covenant Church as well. This loving, tough, caring, cranky, strong, intimidating, faithful father and friend, proud grandfather and gentle giant never realized the impact he had on those he met. Dale was a vicious warrior against cancer for 18 years forever ready for the next step, cure or hope to prolong his life with his family and friends. God allowed him to not be intimidated, to live life to the fullest and never be afraid of a challenge. He ALWAYS saw the potential in every opportunity. The value of his belief in God, his family and his friends along with the open-door policy he kept at his home defined his life. He taught us to never forget the importance of family. GREEN -- Catherine R. "Rosie" Green, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Sunday, November 1, 2009. She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Bill Green; sons, Bill Green, Jr. and wife, Robin, and Tom Green and wife, Ginger; grandchildren, Cathy Sweeney, David Green, Justin Green, Dallas Green all of Albuquerque, and Heather Sanchez and husband, Javier of Portales; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Kline of Arizona, and Earl Kline of Australia; and sister, Lillie May Kline of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Green was active with the Salvation Army in Pennsylvania prior to moving to Albuquerque, and became a member of the Episcopal Church after coming to Albuquerque. She was a member and past president of the Albuquerque Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. Rosie also volunteered with the Animal Humane Association. HACKER -- Walter F. Hacker, 100, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1972, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Walter was born November 13, 2009 the son of Walter and Frieda Garazin Hacker in Chicago, Illinois. He had been an accountant in insurance before he retired. Walter was an avid bridge player. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Bernice Hacker; and one son, Richard Hacker. HOUSTON -- Christina H. Houston, 91, passed quietly at home on October 31, 2009. She was born Christmas Day, 1917, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Lucille Mitchell and Benjamin Hines. At age 13, she moved to Albuquerque and soon graduated Albuquerque High School, where she excelled in sports and developed a lifelong love of dancing. She was married to William C. Houston for 20 years and bore five children. A pioneer in the battle against racism and sexism, she was the first African-American employed at Mountain Bell (now Quest) among many other firsts. She retired from federal service in 1976. Christina was a member of Grant Chapel AME Church for almost 80 years during which she held numerous leadership posts and was active in the NAACP and other community organizations. In addition to dancing, she loved music and card playing and developed an interest in Tai Chi in later life. Wise and witty, she was beloved for her generosity, sage counsel, sense of propriety, style, directness and impish sense of humor. Christina was predeceased by her birth parents; adoptive father Porter Mack Herndon; son, William C. Houston, Jr.; and siblings Buddy, Horace and Beverly Herndon. She is survived by daughters, Dana T.C. Bruce of Albuquerque, Louella H. Pointer and spouse Robert of Dallas, Texas, Christina A. Houston and spouse John A. Lewis of Albuquerque; and son, William C. Houston III of Philadelphia, PA; brothers, Arthur Herndon of Albuquerque and Bobby Herndon of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Nina E. Bruce, Charlotte D. Lowe and spouse Cedrick and Derek Bruce; family friend, Marla Muniz. Christina leaves ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous, nieces, nephews and friends. LOPEZ -- Albert T. Lopez, 81, a resident of Old Town, Albuquerque died Saturday, October 31, 2009. He is survived by his son, Alex J. Lopez; and daughter, Diane Lopez; grandsons, Michael G. He worked for Duke City Lumber for 45 years, was a member of San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town and was a member of the GI Forum. LOPEZ -- Elsie Lucille Lopez, age 73 went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 31, 2009. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Max and Erlinda (Baca) Tachias; her sister Lydia Tachias; and brother Charles Tachias. Elsie is survived her longtime companion, Javier Ruedas; her daughters, Lillian Lopez, and Tammi Lopez; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her siblings; Roy Tachias, Max Tachias, Rudy Tachias, Arnold Tachias, Orpha Tachias, Nora Anaya and Patricia Zuniga many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Elsie's greatest love and joy was always her family. MAESTAS -- Pamela M. Maestas, 51, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away November 2, 2009. Mrs. Maestas was preceded in death by her grandparents Donila and Silas Gallegos; and nephew Max Marcos Martinez. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Richard Maestas of Albuquerque; children Nicholas and Erika Maestas; parents Max and Evangeline Martinez; father and mother-in-law Joe Harpy and Theresa Maestas; brother Max Martinez and his wife Becky; sister Tammy Ulibarri and husband, Ronald; and many other relatives and friends. MAEZ -- Christopher Andrew Maez, age 47, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque passed away on October 24, 2009. MILLER -- Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Miller died, peacefully, in her sleep, Monday, November 2, 2009, at home, following a valiant struggle, for several years, with cancer. Beth was born in Denver, CO, to Tom Ross Carroll, a Veterinarian, and Lillie Elizabeth. Beth graduated NMSU in La Cruces with a degree in Health Science. For over 20-years, she worked as Head Dietician for UNM's Children's Psychiatric Hospital; and, most recently, as Student Nutritional Specialist for Cooperative Education Services. Beth loved people; crafts; scapbooking; sewing; and made handmade cards (which she often sent to others to encourage them). A member of Rio Grande Presbyterian Church for 23-years, she served in many capacities; and was also very active in the Rio Grande Food Project. She is survived by daughter, Jessica, her husband, Jeremy, their children, Kaden and Gage; his children, Keith and Austin; son, Scott, and his wife, Sara, their four children Destiny, Anthony, Angel, Devin; her sister, Helen Patricia Carroll; and former husband, James Arnold Miller. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 6, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church (600 Coors Blvd. NW, 1-mile s. of I-40). A light luncheon reception will follow. MOBLY -- Sandra K. Mobly, beloved daughter and friend, died Monday, November 2, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM, after a brief illness. Sandra, 60, is survived by her mother, Betty J. Smith; stepfather, William E. Smith; and many relatives, godchildren, and friends. Sandra was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1975 with a B.A. degree in Classics. She operated two of her own businesses from 1970 to 1978. In 1979, she joined Allstate Insurance, Dallas, TX, as an agent trainee. She became a well respected executive sales leader during her 26 year career with Allstate. Sandra was a member of the National Association of Financial Advisors. She earned Key Manager, one of the company's most prestigious sales awards 17 times. She also earned its highest sales award, The Spirit of the Eagle, in 2001. After retiring in 2005, she spent much of her time visiting with friends all over the world. She loved art, cooking, reading, and fly fishing, especially at her second home in Angel Fire, NM. She had most recently become a member of the NM Community Emergency Response Team. Sandra had many friends and was much admired by all who knew her. A celebration of Sandra's life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, 1:00 p.m., at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano NW, Albuquerque, NM. MONTOYA -- Carlos M. Montoya, 84, passed away suddenly at his home and now rejoices with his heavenly family. He was preceded in death by his parents Ignacio and Delfina Montoya; and his wife of over 50 years, Ciria S. Montoya; his daughter Regina Montoya; siblings Avelina Apodaca, Cesar Montoya, Dimas Caraballo, Acacio Montoya, Tranquelino Montoya and Jose Montoya. He is survived by his son, Patrick Montoya and wife Marilyn; siblings, Victoria Armijo and husband, Ernest, Tony Montoya and wife, Vera, Roy Montoya, Albert Montoya, Sylvia Garcia and husband, Lorenzo, and Johnny Montoya; two grandchildren, Jerry Reeder and wife, Janet, and Lori Edney; four grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Salazar and Sons Mortuary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. MUSICK -- Mary Louise Musick, 81, three year resident of Moriarty, and thirty year resident of Deming, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2009. She is survived by her children, Joyce Combs and husband Bryan, JoAnn Jones and husband Arthur, Kaye Thompson and husband James, Joe Musick and wife Susan Conrad, and Janet Bilyeu; grandchildren, Angela Garcia and husband Mike, De Anna Duckworth and husband Robbie, David Jones and wife Shea, Scott Jones and wife Lela, Steven Jones and wife Jenny, Jeff Jones and wife Ashley, Kim Mata and husband Gabe, Kayla Bilyeu, Eric Musick, and Ashley Musick; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Cook of Cleveland, OH, and many extended family members. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joe Musick, Sr.; her parents; six brothers; and two sisters. Mary was a kind and generous woman, who valued her family above all. A wonderful mother, she was always there when we needed her. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas location, at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009. PARADA -- E. Ann Parada (Nana). Ann Parada, 72, went home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2009. She joins her daughter Annette and grandson Peter Dominguez in Heaven. Ann worked for th Welfare Department for many years. She leaves behind her brother, Donald and wife, Mary Lewis of Florida; her children, Andy Dominguez, Lupita and Rick Dosch, Michael Dominguez, Rickey and Sharon Dominguez, Patty and David Sanchez, Tomas and Carla Dominguez and Cecelia and Andrew Sedillo; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she cherished so much; also numerous friends. Nana is where she wants to be and that is in the arms of Jesus. She was a very caring and loving mom and Nana. She was cherished by everyone she came in contact with and was known as Nana by everyone. Nana, we will miss you so much, until we see you again. We love you. Graveside Service will be held on November 6, 2009 at Mount Calvary Cemetary (Rose Garden) at 12:00 p.m.

SEARS -- Robert Donald Sears, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, NM. since 1994 passed away on November 2, 2009. He is survived by his wife JoAnn of 51 years; his sons Robert Sears of Albuquerque, NM, and Stephen Sears and wife Catherine of Campbell CA; grandchildren Shauna Dye and Eric Dye of Reno NV, and Sara Sears, Justin Sears and Madison Sears of Campbell CA. Robert was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn; father Walter; and daughter Debra Ann. He was a long time employee at Lockheed Palo Alto Research Laboratories. He was a loving father and grandfather that will be dearly missed.

SMITH -- Glen Alden Smith, 80, passed away, Saturday, October 31, 2009. He was born February 12, 1929 in Albuquerque a son of Roy Lilburn and Beryl Marie Fitzjarrald Smith. He retired from General Electric after 40 years of dedicated service. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include one son and one daughter; Gary A. and his wife, Barbara Smith of Rio Rancho; Carolyn A. Holder, Fairview, OR; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie and her husband, Bill Harvey, Albuquerque, Anita and her husband, Lee Purdam, San Angelo, TX. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Adell Smith; one brother, Lilburn. TUCKER -- Edwin Darol Tucker passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the age of 46. He graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1981 and the University of New Mexico in 1986. He was an avid musician, enjoyed the outdoors, and loved his family. His creative, generous soul will be greatly missed. He is survived by his long term companion Marla of Albuquerque, his parents Ed and Eva of Ouray, Colorado, his brother Jeff of Los Alamos, and his daughters Lauren and Lindal of Albuquerque. VERING -- Linda Lois Vering went to join her Savior November 1, 2009. Born August 26, 1958 in El Paso, Texas to Walter and Lois (Stueckler) Sprick. She was preceded in death by her brother Walter Sprick III. She is survived by her son William R. and daughter-in-law Shelby, granddaughter Ainsley Vering; Parents Walter and Lois Sprick Jr.; brother William W. Sprick; sister Deborah K. and husband Alan, nephews Blaze and Gage Sheldahl; and Linda's significant other, William Barrett. Linda was a friend to all and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. ZAMORA -- Dionicio E.(Lonnie) Zamora, 76, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009 in Socorro, NM. Lonnie was born in Magdalena, NM on September 7, 1933 to Domingo and Rafelita(Gomez) Zamora. He is survived by his Wife of 55 years, Mary(Baca) Zamora of Socorro,NM; Sons, Michael Zamora; and Dennis Valdez, both of Albuquerque,NM; Daughter, Diana Martinez and Husband, Roland of Albuquerque; Sisters Manuelita Sedillo of Socorro; and Marcella Sisneros of Albuquerque; Granddaughter,Theresa Recio of Albuquerque; Grandson, Anthony Recio of Albuquerque; Great Granddaughters, Adrianna Recio- Hernandez; and Kassy Recio, both of Albuquerque. Lonnie was a Socorro Police officer for 15 years and worked as Landfill Supervisor for the City of Socorro until he retired. He retired from the T6 NM National Guard after 23 years of service. Lonnie was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Lonnie was preceded in death by Brothers, Luis Zamora, Tom Zamora, Frank Zamora; and Sisters, Mary Chavez, Benita Sedillo, and Sofia Chavez. A Visitation will be held at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM. A Mass of Ressurection will be celebrated on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., at San Miguel Catholic Church with Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will take place in the San Migual Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales, Albert Chavez, Johnny Sedillo, Anthony Recio, and Frank McQuerry.
