CASSIERO -- Daniel Cassiero died on October 31, 2009. A native New Yorker, Dan moved to Albuquerque with his partner, Craig Stoebling, in July, 2004 and has resided there ever since. A priest of the Archdiocese of New York, Dan was ordained to the priesthood on June 1, 1968 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City, by Terence Cardinal Cooke, the then Archbishop of New York. He has served in a variety of ministries where he was known for his humor and the quality of his preaching. Father Dan was born in New York City, reared in the Bronx and New Rochelle, New York, and then took up residence in Staten Island, where he served in his first parish. In 1970 he was assigned to Msgr. Farrell High School. In 1979 he was given permission to serve as a chaplain in the United States Air force, which he did at Little Rock AFB and Kirkland AFB, NM. He returned to New York briefly to serve as Master of Ceremonies at St. Patrick's Cathedral. In 1986 he returned to the Air Force as the Chaplain at Plattsburgh AFB, NY, where he served until being medically retired in 1988. With permission from Cardinal John O'Connor, Father Dan taught in the Fairfax, VA public schools until returning to Staten Island on the faculty of Moore Catholic High School. While teaching he returned to school so that he could earn his Masters of Social Work Degree from Fordham University in 1995. He was then hired by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Manhattan, where he worked as a clinical social worker with homeless and addicted veterans until 2004 when he retired from the VA. In that year he relocated to Albuquerque, NM where he lived with his partner Craig until the time of his death. Father Dan's ministry in the parish on weekends and in the workplace during the week was an effective ministry. With gratitude to God and to those who were a blessed part of his life, Father Dan has now gone ahead to wait for those whom he loves. May he rest in peace, and may Craig especially find happiness and peace. COOK -- Kenneth William Cook, LT. COL USAF (RET.) was born in Ferney, South Dakota March 9, 1920. He is grieved by his beloved wife of 63 years, Doria Deighton Jones Cook; and his children Doria Cennethe Cook-Nelson, Sandria Markae MacDonald Cook, Mark Dustin MacDonald Cook; his sister, Geraldine Blanchard of Spokane, Washington; his nieces Georgia Toppe, Candace Enquist, and Tamera Greene; and his sister-in-law e.m.Babs jones. Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister Lorrette Nogal. Early on while attending University of Southern California he met Doria Deighton Jones with whom he began a rare and remarkable life-long relationship. But WWII opportunities provided employment in Eritrea, Africa at a neutral air base to repair damaged aircraft for immediate return into combat. Later he was assigned to Bangalore, India as head of Aircraft Instrument Division for Hindustan Aircraft. In 1945 when drafted into the Air Force he returned to America marry his fiancee Doria in 1946. In 1953 he received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Air Force of Technology in engineering (electrical), Wright Patterson. He received his professional engineering/surveying license from Ohio State, Columbus in 1953 and from the state of New Mexico in 1959. He also received a Master Degree from University of Oklahoma. From 1961-67 was acting head of the US Air Force Scientific and Technical Liaison Division in Inglewood, California. He traveled extensively instructing EEEI engineers as to the significance Air Force special weapons and satellite communications and received various awards for his leadership. Simultaneous with his traveling Air Force career, Ken and fellow AFIT graduate Floyd Amundson created Albuquerque's AMCO, the first official company in the '50's to install and repair television in motels throughout New Mexico and parts of Arizona. As a member of the York and Scottish Rite Masons, he and his close Shriner friends created the Ballud Abyad Shriners Aeronautic Patrol, flying their iconic Fez balloon in international balloon fiestas all over the southwest. He was president of Albuquerque Senior Golf Assoc. and the New Mexico Senior Golf Assoc. He earned prestigious Low-Net first and second flight championship 1981 and '82. Hardworking, tenacious, generous, and loving, he taught his children to accept people for as they are, have confidence accepting personal challenges, pursue dreams, and to be honest trust-worthy human beings. Interested in solar, wind, and other alternative energy sources he was ever positive and hopeful no matter what the situation. A realist, yet he always loved a good joke. Self-deprecating, seldom speaking of his many talents. As he was greatly loved and appreciated, so he will be missed. COX -- Eugene "Gene", 82, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009. He was born in Kansas to Nelson and Maude Cox. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Jean Cox; children Pat Robertson-Meserole and husband Steve Meserole and Gary Cox and wife Cheryl; grandchildren Mike Boren, Kimberly Sanders and Justin, Steve and Jim Cox; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Chester Cox and his wife Jane Cox; and many nieces and nephews. Gene loved to fish and garden. He was a volunteer at Kaseman Hospital for eleven years. He retired from Sandia Labs after 32 years of service. Gene served in the US Navy during WWII. DAVIDSON -- Rev. Richard Evan (Slim) Davidson, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mona Louise Davidson on March 18, 2006. He is survived by children, John Davidson and wife, Jeanette of Seabeck, WA, Richard Davidson, Jr. and wife, Jody of Buena Vista, CO, Samuel Marc Davidson and wife, Linda of Placitas, NM, and Cecil Ray Davidson and wife, Lina of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Keith Davidson and wife, Andrea, Chris Edward and wife, Francesca, Raquel, Theresa Ann, Michael Dwyer, Aaron Dwyer and wife, Ruth, Chris Allen Dwyer and wife, Anne, and Jeremy Svejcar and Rose; great-grandchildren, Dorothy, Sadee, Silas, Jacob, Evan, Glenn, Nathan, Anthony and Josiah on the way. Rev. Davidson was born on June 21, 1920 in Vivian, TX, and entered eternal fellowship with his Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Davidson married Mona Louise Self on December 24, 1942, served his country in the Philippines during World War II, was a dedicated civil servant, a devoted minister of the Gospel and will continue to be missed by his family as well as friends and church members. LOPEZ -- Albert T. Lopez, 81, a resident of Old Town, Albuquerque died Saturday, October 31, 2009. He is survived by his son, Alex J. Lopez; and daughter, Diane Lopez; grandsons, Michael G. Montoya, III, and Matthew Montoya. Brothers, Julian Lopez and Orlando Lopez; sisters, Eumelia Lopez, Rose Stricklin, Carmen Martin, Rafaelita Romero, Jolie Lopez. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen H. Lopez; parents, Jose and Veneranda Lopez; brothers, Adan Lopez, Leo Lopez; sisters, Elvie Parker , Bennie Fulton. He was born in Escobosa, NM. He worked for Duke City Lumber for 45 years, was a member of San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town and was a member of the GI Forum. Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church. LOWERY -- Sandra Jean Lowery, 60, was called home on Saturday, October 31, 2009 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She will be welcomed home into the arms of her father Robert Beazley; mother Beverly Garrett; and father-in-law Nelson Lowery. Sandra was born on January 23, 1949 in Los Angeles, Ca. She is survived by her husband, Gary Lowery; daughter, Roberta Kees and husband, Kevin; son, Everett and wife, Lisa; step-mother, June Beazley; mother-in-law, Margaret Lowery; grandchildren, Amanda, Alicia, KJ, Alexandra, Brayden, Krysta, and Katie; great-grandchildren, Liberty and Gracie; siblings, Richard Beazley and wife, M'Lee and their daughter Jamie, Debbie McMurtry and her son, Jason, Vickie Beazley, Mike Beazley and his fiancee, Vera Douglas and son, Ronnie, Richard and Peggy Rhorer and their children, Janelle, Amy and her husband, Karl Shrouf; and her beloved poodle, Wiggles. Sandi was dedicated to her colleagues and dear friends at Bunzl Distribution, Inc. for 23 years. Her passion in life was her family, who she loved with all her heart. She will be forever missed. MONTOYA -- Carlos M. Montoya, 84, passed away suddenly at his home and now rejoices with his heavenly family. RUBIO-AZARTE -- Eduardo Rubio-Arzate, 56, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. He was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and worked as a jewelry designer. RUIZ -- Louie Ruiz, was a life long resident of Albuquerque from August 25, 1947 until November 1, 2009. Mr. Ruiz is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Mrs. Lupe Ruiz; his children, Timothy Ruiz, Thomas Ruiz, and Amanda Smith and husband, Chris; his mother, Irene Santistevan and husband, Armando; his granddaughters, Victoria and Isabella; his brother, Larry Maestas; sisters, Elena Romero and Dolores Chavez; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruiz was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Gabriella; and his brothers, Leonard Ruiz, Johnny Maestas, and Jimmy Ruiz. Louie was born and raised in Albuquerque. He finished high school in Jemez Valley in 1967 and enlisted into the Army that summer serving two tours in Vietnam, coming home in 1970. Louie married his wife, Lupe, February 6, 1971. Louie began his career for the B.C.S.O on April 2, 1973 and then began his family. After 20 years of service he retired in October 1993. He continued working for agencies within the law enforcement until his final retirement in 2003. After retiring he took up the hobbies of fly tying, fishing; and he was also an avid corvette enthusiast. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mary Duneman. Final visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Father Joel Garner, presider. STULL -- Lillian Elizabeth Stull, 72, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Booth, Mary Marusak, Nancy Betik all of Ennis, TX, and Barbara Doughty of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Stull; and her niece, Beth Green. On 7/24/1975 she married Charles Stull in Houston. In the early 80s they moved to Albuquerque. On 5/15/1983 she received her Master's degree from UNM. She retired from the Rio Rancho School District. THOMAS -- Donald L. Thomas, 80, passed away on October 29, 2009. He was born March 15, 1929, in Summum, IL, to Arthur and Winifred Thomas. Don is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary Thomas; children, Sharon Holmes (Tony), of East Moline, IL, Donald S. Thomas, of Albuquerque, NM, and Deanne Thomas (Anthony Cantrell), of Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Milford Thomas (Shirley), of Moline, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lois Taylor and Doris Chance. Don was a resident of Albuquerque since 1964. He was a member of the International Association of Firer Fighters, as well as a Veteran of the US Army. Don spent many years caring for his mother, and coaching baseball. He enjoyed working in the yard and bowling. His favorite thing in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Don was truly loved and will be deeply missed. Viewing will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009, 6:00 p.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel. VERING -- Linda Lois Vering went to join her Savior November 1, 2009. Born August 26, 1958 in El Paso, Texas to Walter and Lois (Stueckler) Sprick. She was preceded in death by her brother Walter Sprick III. She is survived by her son William R. and daughter in-law Shelby, granddaughter Ainsley Vering; Parents Walter and Lois Sprick Jr.; brother William W. Sprick; sister Deborah K. and husband Alan, nephews Blaze and Gage Sheldahl; and Linda's Significant Other William Barrett. Linda was a friend to all and will be missed by who knew and loved her.
