BARR -- Doris Jane Engelking Barr, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Friday, October 16, 2009. She is survived by her children, The Rev. David Lee Barr and his wife, Patsy Ann, of Jacksonville, FL and The Rev. Rowena Jane Ross, Deacon, and her husband, Ronald Francis Ross, COL USA (Ret) of Albuquerque; grandchildren, LTC Andrew Martyn Barr, US Army, and his wife, Anne Elizabeth, of Manhattan, KS, Robert Stone Barr of Stratford, CT, Michael Carl Ross and his wife, Kelly Dianne, of Albuquerque and Katherine Jane Ross Ortiz and her husband, Benjamin Adam Ortiz, of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Madeline Rose Barr, Matthew Martyn Barr, Grace Annabelle Barr, Chloe Stone Barr, Avery Marie Ross, Quinn Michael Ross and Taryn Kaitlen Ortiz; brother, Donald Joseph Engelking, COL USA (Ret), and his wife, Marilyn, of San Antonio, TX. Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her husband Bernice Stone Barr, COL USAF (Ret). Doris studied vocal performance at the University of TX and sang at social engagements, weddings, and funerals. She lived across the country and in Japan with her husband and was active in Officers' Wives organizations. She was the Director of Red Cross Volunteers at Tachikawa Air Force Base for three years during the Viet Nam War. She was accomplished at dress design, sewing, quilting, knitting, needlepoint, gardening, flower arranging, and cake decorating. Devoted to her church community she sang in choirs, directed children's choirs, served on the Altar Guild, taught Sunday school, and managed the craft workshop and the Holly Berry Fair at St. Mark's-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church. As a Daughter of the King, she established chapters of the Junior Daughters of the King at St. Mark's and assisted in establishing numerous chapters across the Diocese of the Rio Grande and Province Seven of the Episcopal Church. The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 10:30 a.m., at Hope+in+the+Desert Episcopal Church with The Rev. Dan Tuton, officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. BATSON -- Charles "Chuck" Batson, 76, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 22, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce; son, Jeffrey Batson; daughter, Christine Knorr; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jordan Batson, and one sister, Doris Snodgrass, of California. Chuck proudly served in the United States Navy, State Department, and 25 years with the Central Intelligence Agency. He was enjoying his retirement in New Mexico. BLAKE -- Zola M. Blake, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur W. Blake in April of 2006 and her mother and father, Michael and Alice Zieske, of Mankato, Minnesota. She was born in Mankato on May 20, 1921. Following graduation from Gustavus Adolphus College, she married Arthur, and they moved throughout the country following Arthur's career in the U.S. Secret Service. While living in Denver and Albuquerque she taught typing, shorthand, and business math at several business colleges. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Blake, of Centennial, Colorado; her son, Fritz and his wife Melissa of Albuquerque; her grandson James Eck and his wife Juliette; and her great-grandchildren Elisabeth, James and Alasdair of Summit, New Jersey. A memorial service will be held at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Dr. NE, on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Zola's sprit will be deeply missed by those who loved her. BOYLE -- Charles "Charlie" Boyle. A memorial service for Charles Dennis Boyle will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque with Pastor Kerry Rose officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma. Local arrangements are provided by Brandon Lee of Loftiss Funeral Home. Charlie was born July 4, 1951, at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma to Charles R. and Agnes (Beck) Boyle. Because his dad was in the army, his early education was received in Germany, Ft. Hood, Texas, and Lawton, Oklahoma. He graduated from high school in Baumholder, Germany. Charlie graduated with a B.A. degree with a major in history and government from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. Charlie taught school for four years in the Lawton Public School district and then worked for 16 years as operations manager for Southwest Operations, Servicemaster Inc. before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he taught school at Los Lunas High School, teaching history, government and German until his medical retirement in October, 2008. Charlie is survived by his wife, Tisa, of the home; and her mother, Ellen Jones; his parents, Charles and Agnes (Beck) Boyle; his sister-in-law, Teri Burnett; a son Joseph; three daughters, Jonna, Chelsea and Carissa and her husband, Chris; a granddaughter, Madison; and three grandsons, Jason, Isaiah, and Lukas. CAMP -- Louise R. Camp, 91, passed away on October 23, 2009. She was born in El Paso, Texas and moved to Albuquerque in 1950. Louise retired from UNM School of Law in 1983, where she was affectionately known as "The Dean". She is survived by Richard R. and Betty Thorman, William R. and Vana Camp, Christopher S. CAMPBELL -- Helen Lorraine "Cissie" Campbell, 77, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly while vacationing in Arizona on October 21, 2009. Born March 1, 1932 in Junction City, Kansas to George and Helen Moses, Cissie grew up in Kansas. In 1953, she met and married Lt. Robert E. Campbell. During their 56 years of marriage, Cissie and Bob delighted in the joys of their growing, active, and loving family. Cissie is survived by her husband, LTC (US Army retired) Robert E. Campbell; her sister, Janice Durrett of Kansas; her adult children, David S. Campbell and wife Shelly, Joseph Mark Campbell, Cathy Sanchez, Carter Jay Campbell and wife Elena; grandchildren, Melissa Campbell, Brittany Saldivar and husband Jose, Sean Austin, Heather and Damon Campbell, Moses Campbell; great-grandson, Ivan Saldivar and numerous other relatives. Cissie volunteered nearly 6,000 hours at the Presbyterian Hospital Gift Shop, was a 27 year volunteer with the Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary, and was active in the Puerto del Sol Ladies Golf Association. She enjoyed her family and friends to the utmost, was much loved, and will be sorely missed by all. A service celebrating Cissie's life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle Blvd., SE. FOX -- Stephen L. Our beloved brother, uncle, friend and partner, WELCOME HOME! BienVenido! 'Doc' aka Rob; GENTLE GIANT with a good heart. Always there for us when we needed him. Vietnam veterano, corpsman. Rob was !presente! in the struggle for Native people after Wounded Knee. He was at Dalton Pass on the Dine rez, helping support sovereignty and Treaty Rights and opposing uranium mining. He supported the struggle of United Farm Workers in the San Joaquin Valley. He supported his nephew, Malcolm Jamal Cooper and local progressive organizations working for change, putting his money where his mouth was, 'Doc' nurtured community without the need for personal accolades. Our brother was truly a justice/peace supporter. He will be sorely missed by his brothers, Allen Cooper and Terry Fox; his partner Kathleen; and his nephew Malcolm Cooper. A celebration of Rob's life will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 6:00 pm at French Mortuary, University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. A private family interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. GONZALES -- Charlene Ann Gonzales, 38 years old, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. She is survived by her amazing parents, Carlos (Charlie) & Linda Gonzales; her two beautiful daughters, RoseAnn and Latasha; her two handsome sons, Richard Jr. and Bobby; blessed with her three grandchildren, Analiya, Little Bobby & Baby Isaiah; her loving brother, Carlos Gonzales Jr.; her loving nephew, Carlos Gonzales III; her loving partner, Anthony Montoya; and many, many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. JUCKETT -- Daniel Howard Juckett, 97, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Oct 23, 2009. Daniel was born December 8, 1911 in Fremont, Nebraska and moved to New Mexico in 1932. In his early Christian life he was a member of Alameda Community Chapel, where he was a deacon. He entertained the congregation with trumpet solos or with his beautiful bass voice. He was currently member of New Song Christian Fellowship. In 1932 he and Sue Whitely married in Bernalillo, NM and in 1939 they moved to Corrales where Daniel resided until his death. He is survived by children Samuel H. Juckett and his wife Della of Albuquerque, NM, Mrs. Celestine "Tiny" Brown of Albuquerque, NM, Daniel "Bud" Juckette and wife Jeanine "JJ" of Corrales, NM; six grandchildren, Debbie Coburn (Rick) of Albuquerque, NM, Tim Juckette (Leta) of Lutz, FL, David Brown (Shawna), of Corrales, NM, Nikki Carey of Albuquerque, NM, Brandwyn Stebbens of Hawaii, Eowyn Simons (Aiden), of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by many great and great-great-grandchildren whom he adored. He is also survived by step-brothers Conrad Larsen of Huntington Beach, California, Norman Larsen (Marion) of Virginia Beach, VA, Ernest Larsen of Des Moines, IA; sisters-in-law, Jean Juckett of Apopka, FL, Trent Andrews and Millie Gentry of Martinez, California, and many nieces and nephews whom all loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, step-father, one brother and two sisters. Daniel was a professional trumpet and coronet player in his early career. He played with many of the known BIG bands. He was employed by the US Government at Kirtland AFB during WWII. After the war he worked for Cutter Carr Aviation until moving to Sandia Base, retiring from Sandia in 1971. He worked on his farm, hunted, fished and truly enjoyed his love for the outdoors. He belonged to the Rio Rancho fishing club and tried to attend every outing they put together. MONTGOMERY -- Grant Earl Montgomery, 80, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 23, 2009. Grant was born in Albuquerque on October 7, 1929. He graduated from Albuquerque High School, Class of 1947. After graduating from UNM with a degree in electrical engineering, Grant was employed at Sandia Labs from 1951 until 1953. He served 2 years in the United States Air Force, from 1953-1955, returning to Albuquerque where he taught math at Jefferson Junior High until 1959. In 1957 Grant married Gladys (Teddy) Baer. They established their home in Cedar Crest where they raised two sons and became an integral part of the East Mountain community for 52 years. In 1960, Grant built Cedar Crest Hardware and operated the store for 8 1/2 years. He began another business, Montgomery Electric, in 1970, continuing until the day he died on his way to work. Grant was the proverbial jack-of-all-trades but he was master of many, enjoying the challenge of solving most any problem. It was a true Gift. He quickly established himself as the "go to guy" in the Cedar Crest area. Grant was a generous man who served the community as unto the Lord. There is no end to the people who have known his kindness. Soft spoken, gentle natured and full of grace, Grant knew no stranger. His commitment to the Lord was exemplified through his active membership at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, a charter member. He loved to sing and was a charter member of the choir as well. He also served the Lord at Immanuel in the offices of elder, deacon and trustee. Along with his wife, Teddy, Grant is survived by son, Mark, his wife Pat and children, Erin, Isaac and Levi; son, Steve, and his wife Antoinette, and children, James, Kevin, and Shannon, a younger brother, Mike, his wife Mavis and son, Rob. A memorial service to celebrate Grant's life is planned for Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle Blvd. SE. 87106. MONTOYA -- Irene Montoya, 87, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009. Mrs. Montoya was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nerio Montoya; her daughter Sandra Padilla; and sisters, Sylvia Serna and Arsenia Marie Humphrey. Irene is survived by her sons; Andrew Nerio Montoya and wife Renee of Albuquerque and Gerald Anthony Montoya also of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Jessica Marie Montoya and Christine Elizabeth Montoya; great-granddaughter Natalie; great-grandson Darius; and sister Esther Garcia. RHEA -- Harvard Max Rhea, 85, passed away October 14, 2009. He was born in Clarendon, TX on January 24, 1924, to John D. and Pricie Rhea. Max grew up on the J.A. Ranch, graduated from Clarendon High School, and attended Clarendon College and Texas Tech. He served in the Pacific in WWII as a pilot in the Army-Air Force. Max was married to Sara Lowry from 1944 to 1972 and had three children: Don Michael, Kathryn and Melissa. He drove a bus for Greyhound for 35 years. In 1976, Max married Frances Mitchell, making Albuquerque his home for the remainder of his life. He was preceded in death by brothers, Burrel Rhea and B.D. Rhea and by sister Joan Gerner. Max is survived by wife Frances of Albuquerque, sister Ramona of Amarillo, children, Don Rhea and wife Peggy of Amarillo; Kathy Bullard of Spring, Texas; and Melissa Tague of Amarillo. He is also survived by Larry Mitchell of Idaho, Mary Ann Ames and husband Richard of Georgia, and Patsy Boeglin and husband, Randy of Albuquerque. Max and Fran have 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Max was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. A private family service of remembrance was held on October 17, 2009 near Clarendon, Texas.
