Alice was born December 24, 1936, in New York City, NY, to Morgan and Mary Walsh. She married John Martin Gromek on September 28, 1957, in New York City, NY. Alice grew-up in the Bronx right up the street from Yankee Stadium. She modeled for the Dale Garrick Agency before marrying 2nd Lieutenant John Gromek. With such a large family, she often quipped, "We're off like a herd of turtles!", and "Did you think we would never get here?" at the start of family outings and journeys. She was very much loved and will be deeply missed by her entire family.
