BENNETT -- Mary Ann Bennett, 81, was born in Montreal, Canada and a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, passed away after a short illness on Friday, April 3, 2009. Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert; five children Kathryn Mary Pilnock, JoAnn L. Rosch and husband Peter, Robert Scott Bennett and wife Renee, Douglas B. Bennett and wife Elizabeth and Lori Anne Merrill and husband Charles; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister Barbara Middleton. Mary was a doll artisan, and owned and operated Mari Originals Dolls for 30 years in Albuquerque. She instructed many in the art of doll making where she made numerous friends. She was a member of the Doll Artisan Guild, a member of the NM Ceramic Association and was a past-president of the Ceramic Association. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Service will be Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at French Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. GIBBS -- Lola B. Gibbs, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Saturday April 4, 2009. Lola was born in Yuma, CO, on December 20, 1915, Lola moved to Albuquerque in 1933. She was employed by the Soil Conservation Service for several years before becoming a full time mother and homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald Gibbs; three sisters and one brother. Lola is survived by her loving sons Brad Gibbs of Albuquerque and Meyler Gibbs and wife Geri, of Washington, KS; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Lola is also survived by her niece, Gale Jensen of Springdale, AR and nephew, Alan Barrows of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Missing her dearly are special friends; Sandra Green and Chuck & Karen Cooper. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Carlisle Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Patricia Holman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park where Lola will be laid to rest next to her loving husband Donald. MAGNUSON -- Bonnie Lee Magnuson was born January 29, 1923 in Gothenburg, Nebraska, the only child of Glen and Leona Price. She passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Hospice House. She married Clifford Frank Magnuson in 1944. He preceded her in death. Bonnie worked in the Engineering College at the University of New Mexico. She was an active alumni of Chi Omega Sorority, P.E.O., UMW, and a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. New Mexico. Bonnie always enjoyed a good game of bridge. She moved to Odessa, Texas in 2008 from Albuquerque. She is survived by Susan Erickson of Arizona, Nancy Lee of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Doug Magnuson of Albuquerque NM, and Mike and Jo Forrest of Odessa. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael and Lindsey Forrest, and great-granddaughter, Holly of Odessa, Lee Michelle Forrest and Ross Forrest of Fort Worth, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas, Odessa, Texas 79761. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver Ave SE.

OTERO -- Antonio J. Otero, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away April 2 , 2009. Mr. Otero is survived by his brother, Richard Otero and wife, Mabel; his sister, Sally Otero; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Otero, Simona Cordova, Dulcinea Hodgden; his brothers-in-law, Raymond Cordova and wife, Loretta, Robert Cordova and wife, Lydia; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Otero was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie Otero; his parents, Jose and Dolores Otero; and his brother, Max Otero. Mr. Otero was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Visitation will Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 11:15 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 11:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 p.m., Father Gonzalo Moreno, presider. Committal Service is scheduled at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers are James Cordova, Raymond Cordova, Randy Cordova, Robert Cordova, Anthony Cordova, and Francisco Cordova. PEREA -- Loretta J. Perea, 57, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 3, 2009 and is now one of heaven's angels. Loretta is survived by her sisters, Rebecca Benavidez and husband, Martin, and Cynthia Perea and partner, Deloris Armijo; her brothers, Richard Perea, and Charles Perea and wife, Elizabeth; her nephews and nieces, Erick Perea and wife, Sophia, Martin Benavidez, Darren Perea, DeAnna Garcia and husband, Patrick, Ashley Perea, Michele Perea and Charlie Perea; many aunts, uncles, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and friends; her roommates, Calista Iskra and Patricia Manning; her case manager, Lorraine Kubick; the head house manager, Jackie Martinez; her care givers, Annette Perea, Tava Romaine, Edna Abila, Debbie Gomez, Linda Bustillo, Sherie Foster, Esmeralda Toledo, Erica Lilliepage and Delilah Garcia. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Johnny O. and Eluvina Louise Perea. SALAZAR -- Donald G. Salazar, age 72 of Albuquerque, NM passed away Friday April 3, 2009 at his home, he was born on June 25, 1936 in Brazos, NM to Praxedes and Benita Salazar. He married Dolores M. Gutierrez on October 28, 1961 she preceded him in death on March 19, 2006 after 44 yrs of marriage. Mr. Salazar was a member of the Risen Savior Catholic Community as well as the D.A.V. and The American Legion. He served in the United States Army. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a barber for over 37 years and owned and operated Sierra Azul Barber Shop with his partner Bill Cocoa. Surviving are his daughter Pauline A. Riley and her husband Roger of Albuquerque, his grandchildren, Serena and Jarrett Riley at home. His sisters, Olivia Esquibel and Millie Gonzales and husband Tony all of Albuquerque. His brothers: Silviano Salazar and his wife Mitzi of Sandy Hills, UT., Joe P. Salazar of Los Lunas, NM., Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Manuel Salazar in December of 2008 and Benny Salazar in February of 2006. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming NE, 87109, Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. SELIGMAN -- Randolph Victor Seligman M.D., 94, a 3rd generation native New Mexican, passed away April 4, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born in Bernalillo, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Floersheim Seligman; his parents Julius Seligman and Blanche Block Seligman; and his brothers, Thornton Julius Seligman and Joseph Jack Seligman. Randy is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) McCarty and her husband Dr. Christopher McCarty of Brenham, Texas, Cynthia Kay Engelstein of Hod HaSharon, Israel, and Gretchen Louise Goldstein and her husband Randall Goldstein of Nashville, Tennessee. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Thomas Randolph McCarty, Molly McCarty and Jennifer Goldstein and Katie Goldstein. Survivors also include a very close and special family friend for 50 years, Alice Stewart, family friend Debbie Hendrex, caregivers from Special Live-In Care and many nieces, nephews and cousins. At age 16, Dr. Seligman graduated from Albuquerque High School. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute for 2 years before transferring to the University of California-Berkeley. He returned to Albuquerque and graduated from the University of New Mexico. He took his medical training at Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and completed his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in Obstetrics and Gynecology. During the war years that followed, he served as an Army Major in the 302nd Medical Battalion of the 77th Infantry Division in the South Pacific Theater. He then returned to New Mexico and established himself in private practice. He served as head of the Obstetrics/Gynecology program at Bernalillo County Indian Hospital from 1955 to 1960. In 1986, he was asked to mentor OB/GYN residents and students in UNM School of Medicine clinics and surgical areas. By 1988, he dedicated all his time to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Having retired from his work at the university in June 1996 at the age of 81, Dr. Seligman estimated that he had delivered some 10,000 babies throughout his career. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Congregation Albert in Albuquerque, followed by graveside services at the Congregation Albert Cemetery located in Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Chris McCarty, Randall Goldstein, Thomas McCarty, John Kennedy, Bob Maw, Norman Rhee, Greg Seligman, Steve Seligman and Don Tampow. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Kennedy, Kurt Kennedy, Dan McCarthy, Steve Moise, Bruce Seligman, Doug Seligman and Lee Seligman.
