BAKER -- Jack E. Baker passed away on February 24, 2009 at his home in Truth or Consequences with his loving wife, Zenith Baker, at his side. Jack was born on May 12, 1936 in Canutillo, New Mexico the second of five children. Jack began his career as a lineman at the age of 18 with El Paso Power and Light and then worked for Reynolds Electric, PNM and Gardner Zemke. In 1975 he started Howard Electric in Gallup which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1995. He was very involved in many community projects including a lifetime Member of the Elk's Club, Sierra Vista Hospital, Rotary clubs of Gallup and T or C and was instrumental in the design and building of the T or C Rotary Park and was the construction coordinator for the city of T or C. His passions were fishing and hunting and traveling. He was very proud of his extensive collection of Indian artifacts and hunting trophies. Jack will always be remembered for his sense of humor, candid viewpoints and philosophical discussions. Jack was loved and respected and will be missed by all. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Marie and HE Baker, children Joey and Rhonda Baker. He is survived by his wife, Zenith; son, Randy Baker and his wife Denise; step-sons Kevin McTavish and wife, Amie, Sean McTavish and wife Regina; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the family home, 400 West Riverside Drive, in Truth or Consequences. Family and friends are welcome for a pot luck lunch. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Jack E. BRACK -- Dolly Brack, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009. She is survived by her daughters Gloria Baratta and husband Ricardo of Rio Rancho, Liliana Graf and husband Norberto of Albuquerque; son Ricardo Brack and wife Nancy of Albuquerque; grandchildren Leonardo Baratta, Alexis Graf and wife Felicia, Ricardo Graf and wife Angela, Nadia Hinkle and husband Shea, Lissette Vancil and husband Craig, and Christopher Brack and wife Melissa; and great-grandchildren Caleb Hinkle, Chloe Graf, Addie Graf, Kyera Brack, and Gabriela Vancil. Mrs. Brack was preceded in death by her husband Manfred Brack. Along with her husband, Mrs. Brack owned and operated German Motorwerke. She was an active member of North Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a loving wife and proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. BRANNON -- James Brannon, 99, died Tuesday February 24, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, James and wife, Corla; and daughter, Alma Ehlert; grandchildren, Eric Brannon and wife, Jeannine, Jeff Ehlert and wife, Andrea and Galen Brannon and wife, Pam; great-grandchildren , Andrew, Aaron, Vincent and Joseph Brannon, Kendahl, Terrance Ehlert; and many family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; son-in-law, Wayne Ehlert; and several other family members. Mr. Brannon attended First Baptist Rio Rancho, was a member of the Albuquerque Optimist Club and one time President. He retired from Burroughs Corporation after over 30 years of employment. CANDELARIA -- Juan de Dios Candelaria Sr., 81, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 25, 2009 with his family at his side. Mr. Candelaria is survived by his children Rebecca Candelaria Cooper and husband, Rick, Priscilla Romero, Theresa Chavez, Cathy Candelaria and husband, Tomas Gutierrez, Juan de Dios Candelaria Jr., Al Candelaria and wife, Adrienne; his companion, Cecilia Vigil; his sisters, Florela Gonzales, Ramona Martinez, Ignacia Candelaria, Mary Carlos and husband, Ruben, and Rosie Urban; his brother, Tito Candelaria and wife, Lilly; his brother in law, Nestor Herrera; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Candelaria was preceded in death by his wife, Julia ; his parents, Tito and Lita ; brothers, Richard and Justo; and his sister, Pasty Herrera. Mr. Candelaria was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Gonzalo Moreno, presider. DEROCHIE -- Thomas McLennan DeRochie August 11, 1937 - February 23, 2009 Tom DeRochie died Monday, February 23, 2009 at home in Paso Robles, CA, after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife, Catherine M. DeRochie of Paso Robles, CA; her daughter, Rachel Zamora of Denver, CO; his sister Anne Burton of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; daughter, Theresa E. Almaraz of Churchton, MD; son, Thomas A. DeRochie of Tijeras, NM; stepson, Monty Gariss of New Mexico; Elizabeth F. DeRochie of Albuquerque, NM and three precious grandchildren, Adam, Randy & Sarah. His beloved parents, Esther Lynch DeRochie and Dennis Arnold DeRochie, preceded Tom in death. Tom was born in Albuquerque, NM, he leaves behind many friends and extended family. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009. EYE -- Maggie Casaus Eye, 86, a long time Fort Sumner, NM resident died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM following an illness. Maggie was born September 10, 1922 in Yeso, NM to the home of Faustin Casaus and the former Maria Veneranda Archuleta. She was reared and attended school at Yeso. Maggie worked for many years as a waitress in Clovis and Fort Sumner. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner. She loved spending time and visiting with her many friends and family members. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother Jesse Casaus and two sisters Mela Casaus and Leonorcita Sena. She is survived by a sister Emily Grzelachowski of Rio Rancho, NM and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. GUTIERREZ -- Anita M. Gutierrez, 76, Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home into the arms of her Lord on February 22, 2009. The love that she shared with her family will carry on in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Gutierrez. JOHNSON -- Michael Brett, 48, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died February, 22, 2009. He is survived by one sister, LouAnn Johnson of Albuquerque and a daughter Audrey Michelle Johnson of Las Cruces, NM, as well as many friends and relatives. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Dallas and Betty Johnson of Albuquerque. Mike was known for his quick wit, love for music, animals and his favorite game chess. He had overcome many obstacles in the last year. He was loved by many and will be missed. LOWRANCE -- Muriel Edwards Lowrance, 86, former Albuquerque resident, passed away on February 23, 2009 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mrs. Lowrance was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Warren E. and Mayme E. (Barrick) Edwards on December 28, 1922. She was a graduate of East Central State University, in Ada, Oklahoma. Muriel worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager at East Central State for 16 years before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She went to work for the University of New Mexico, first as a Grants and Contracts Specialist in the School of Medicine and then as a program specialist for the School of Medicine Orthopaedics Department. Muriel retired from UNM in 1986. Mrs. Lowrance served on the Board of Directors for the Vocational Rehab Center. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and an active member of the Albuquerque Pilot Club, holding many offices including Governor for the SW District. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for many years. Mrs. Lowrance is survived by her daughter, Kathy Gutierrez of Gulf Breeze, Florida; three grandsons: Daniel Gutierrez and wife Cathann of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jason Gutierrez of Long Beach, California, and Jeff Gutierrez and wife Emily of Navarre, Florida; four great grandchildren: Sebastian and Miranda Gutierrez of Navarre, Florida, and Mia and Kadiah Gutierrez of Albuquerque, New Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Central United Methodist Church. MAHLER -- Annelise Mahler, born May 2, 1920 passed away on February 21, 2009 after a brief illness. Ms. Mahler was born in Berend, a small village near Schleswig in northern Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1953 and became a U. S. citizen in 1958. She resided in southern California for many years and moved to Albuquerque in the late 1990s. For the last 2 years, she lived at Princeton Place Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Renate Mahler, who passed away in 2003. She is survived by her cousin, Frauke Holtorf of Flensburg, Germany; and her close friends in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM, Mark Parshall, Diane Lujan, and Mary Lou Sorenson. A Burial Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd, NE, Albuquerque 87107. STEPHENSON -- Kathleen Stephenson, 89, passed away February 23, 2009. She was born July 23, 1919, in Oakdale, PA. Kathleen is survived by her six children, John Stephenson and Sharon, Dianne Starr and Jess Hernandez, Mary Foster and Tom, Rebecca Mennes and Jim, Steve Stephenson and Moni, Mike Stephenson and Cindy; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; many dear nieces and nephews; including a very dear niece Debra Emanuelson and Ron. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herman (Steve) Stephenson. Kathleen was a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years. WERNER -- Mary Werner, 89, wife of Colonel Crowell B. Werner, passed away February 08, 2009. She was born January 01, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio to Oscar Benjamin and Ella Giele Reemelin. Mary graduated from Oakwood High School and DePauw University. In May 1946 she married her husband and spent twenty five years as a military wife at various Air Force bases throughout the U.S., including Kirtland AFB from 1965-1968. Upon her husband's retirement in 1971 they returned permanently to Albuquerque. She was an active golfer and bridge player at Tanoan Country Club and was a band member of the Daughters of the Nile. Survivors include her loving husband; three sons, Michael and wife, Jo Karen, Derby, KS, Lt. Col (AF retired) Patrick, Waltham, MA, Jeffery A. and wife, Susan Lasko, Santa Cruz, CA; brother, Robert E. Reemelin, Dayton, OH; and four granddaughters; plus four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin G. Reemelin of Orange Park, FL. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at the Ballot Adyad Shrine Center.
