BAKER -- Jack E. Baker passed away on February 24, 2009 at his home in Truth or Consequences with his loving wife, Zenith Baker, at his side. Jack was born on May 12, 1936 in Canutillo, New Mexico the second of five children. Jack began his career as a lineman at the age of 18 with El Paso Power and Light and then worked for Reynolds Electric, PNM and Gardner Zemke. In 1975 he started Howard Electric in Gallup which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1995. He was very involved in many community projects including a lifetime Member of the Elk's Club, Sierra Vista Hospital, Rotary clubs of Gallup and T or C and was instrumental in the design and building of the T or C Rotary Park and was the construction coordinator for the city of T or C. His passions were fishing and hunting and traveling. He was very proud of his extensive collection of Indian artifacts and hunting trophies. Jack will always be remembered for his sense of humor, candid viewpoints and philosophical discussions. Jack was loved and respected and will be missed by all. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Marie and HE Baker, children Joey and Rhonda Baker. He is survived by his wife, Zenith; son, Randy Baker and his wife Denise; step-sons Kevin McTavish and wife, Amie, Sean McTavish and wife Regina; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the family home, 400 West Riverside Drive, in Truth or Consequences. Family and friends are welcome for a pot luck lunch. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Jack E. BARRANCA -- Richard M. Barranca was called home by the Lord on February 22, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elvira; brother, Steven; and sister, Jeanette. He is survived by his father, Richard Barranca; son Richard Barranca and wife, Susan; son Mark Romero and wife, Victoria; sisters, Cathy Barranca, Evelyn Shinkle and husband, Tim, Berna Dominguez, Shirley Lacroix and Diana Cassidy and husband, Tom; brothers, John Patrick Barranca and wife, Lisa, Wayne Barranca and Gilbert Barranca; five grandchildren, Ricky Barranca, Elena Romero, Ashley Barranca, Paul Barranca and Makayla Romero; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, 101 North 10th Street, 87002. Interment immediately following at Our Lady of Belen Cemetery. BIERNER -- Marshall G., 52 a lifelong resident of New Mexico went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 21, 2009. Marshall was born in TorC and graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1975. He is preceded in death by his parents Roland Bierner and Ramie Gabaldon Bierner and his brother Eric Bierner. He is survived by his siblings; Jimmy Bierner and wife Eva, Merlin Black and husband James and Barry Bierner and wife Virginia, his cousin Joanne Jantz, and his Aunt Betty and Uncle George Bierner, his nieces and nephews, many cousins and countless friends of all ages. Anyone who knew him knew that he had a very big heart and loved people in general, children and animals especially. Marshall was loved by so very many, including all the neighborhood children who will miss watching and helping him with his endless arts and crafts projects. BOURICIUS -- Madonna Ruth Bouricius, 78, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died February 22, 2009. She is survived by her husband Barthold; children, Willard Bouricius and wife Ann, Dan Bouricius and wife Eileen of Boulder CO, John Baldridge and wife Karen of Lakeville, MN, Ann Smith and husband Mark of Gahanna OH, and Barbara White, and husband Bill Hilliard of Albuquerque, N.M. There are 13 grandchildren; and sister Jackie Smith of Colfax, WA. Mrs. Bouricius was preceded in death by son Richard; and brother and sisters June, Jane, Luthera, Jimmy Ann and Bunny. She was a long time member and Master Gardner and loved reading and traveling. She and her husband traveled to Asia, Europe, Mexico, and throughout the United States. BRACK -- Dolly Brack, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009. She is survived by her daughters Gloria Baratta and husband Ricardo of Rio Rancho, Liliana Graf and husband Norberto of Albuquerque; son Ricardo Brack and wife Nancy of Albuquerque; grandchildren Leonardo Baratta, Alexis Graf and wife Felicia, Ricardo Graf and wife Angela, Nadia Hinkle and husband Shea, Lissette Vancil and husband Craig, and Christopher Brack and wife Melissa; and great-grandchildren Caleb Hinkle, Chloe Graf, Addie Graf, Kyera Brack, and Gabriela Vancil. CONLEY -- Cordelia Rivera On February 22, 2009, Cordelia Rivera Conley went to her Lord. Cordelia was born in Chama NM, July 4, 1921 to Antonio Avan and Rosenda Martinez Rivera. Cordelia was a graduate of El Rito High School, and later from the St. Vincent School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She became an operating room nurse in several noted hospitals, including Doctor's Hospital in Washington DC, the Indian Sanitarium in Albuquerque, and concluded her nursing career as the Director of Nursing for the Mesa Lutheran General Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. She was preceeded in death by her husband Vincent W. Conley; and her siblings, Gilbert C Rivera, Servilia Quintana, Adrianna Quintana, Mario Rivera all of Taos, Manuel A Martinez, Severo Martinez, Patrocinio Martinez, Antonio Rivera, all from Santa Fe. Her brother, Conrad Rivera of Santa Fe survives her. Her son Edmundo A. Gonzales and wife Katherine Archuleta of Corrales and Denver and Juanita R. Jennings and husband Claude Jennings of Tennessee survive her. Her grandchildren Melissa R. Kittrell and husband Rob Kittrell of Tampa and Graciela K Gonzales attending Wellesley College survive her. Many nieces and nephews of Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque also survive her. ELLIOTT -- Donna Lenora Elliott, a life long resident of New Mexico, passed away on February 18, 2009 in Wimberley, Texas after a long illness. She was 75, born in Dodge City, Kansas, September 7, 1933. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, R. Glen Elliott. She was a graduate from Las Vegas High. On May 16, 1954 she married. In Las Vegas, she helped manage her family's business, The Home Cafe; she was involved in the United Methodist Church Choir, and was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. In 1991, she moved to Albuquerque to be closer to family. In Albuquerque, she was involved with her family and shared time with loving friends. In 1994, she again moved to be closer to family in Texas. She was actively involved with the youth at St. Richard's Episcopal Church. She loved to take care of her "babies" there. She is survived by her children Martin Elliott and wife Diana and their two children Ryan and Lauren, Victoria Elliott, William Elliott and wife Kristen, and brother Bill Rapp of Roswell and his family. Services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 10:00 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. GALLUP -- Arthur Stanley Gallup, 86, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 in Owensboro, KY. Stan, an outstanding athlete himself, was the driving force behind the National Golden Gloves of America amateur boxing program in the United States for 45 years. Known to many in the boxing circles as "Mr. Golden Gloves", he served as Executive Director of the organization until 1999 and was inducted into the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame in 1979 in recognition of his leadership and dedication to the sport of boxing. He is one of only three Emeritus members of the National Golden Gloves Board of Directors. He was commissioned as Colonel-Aid-de-Camp on the Governor of New Mexico's staff and was honored when the City of Knoxville, TN, proclaimed "Stan Gallup Day" on May 19, 1984. After serving three years in China in the Army Air Corps as a member of the legendary Flying Tigers during World War II, he settled in Roswell, NM and was part owner of a radio station that sponsored the Golden Gloves. While in Roswell, he was named New Mexico Sportscaster of the Year in 1959 and 1960. For the past 20 years, he also served as Vice President of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and judged and supervised championship fights around the world. An All-State athlete in football and basketball at Santa Fe St. Michaels High School, he attended the University of New Mexico on a football scholarship before enlisting in the service during World War II. Stan loved the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers and his association with the student-athletes, athletic staff and fans. He was preceded in death in 1991 by Sue, his wife of 49 years, and is survived by his son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Sharon; grandsons, Mike Gallup of The Colony, TX, Greg Gallup, of Hattiesburg, MS; and granddaughters, Gina Gallup of Houston, TX and Jana Marshall, of Houston TX; and nine great-grand children. Services were held Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 11:30 a.m. at The Tapscott Chapel at Kentucky Wesleyan College. KARVER -- Mildred L. Karver, age 88 of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Mrs. Karver was born on October 13, 1920 in Hobart, OK to Daniel and Lennie Clower. She married William N. Karver in June of 1944 in Big Spring, TX, he preceded her in death after 26 years of marriage on October 5, 1970. Mrs. Karver along with her husband, William, owned and operated Karver's Cocktail Lounge and The Beef and Bourbon Steak House in Albuquerque, as well as several package stores. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Karver worked for Sandia National Labs. Mrs. Karver is survived by her children, Patricia J. Crowell and her husband, Max of Tucson, AZ, Toni Karver and her husband, Charles Banks of Albuquerque, William N. KING -- Elizabeth "Libby" King passed away on February 23, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Libby was born in Waco, Texas on September 11, 1929. Libby will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. Her interests included painting, travel, community service and most importantly, her family. Libby is survived by her daughter Mary Leggott Guerga and husband Philippe, and sons Tom Leggott and wife Susan and John Leggott and wife Valerie. Her grandchildren, the love of her later life, include Kathrine, Kristen, Zoey, Kyle, Gabe, Shane, Michael and Allison. Her great-grandchildren are Oriane and Carolyn. MALCOLM -- Ann Mary Malcolm, 90, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, February 20, 2009. "Mrs. M" is survived by her son, David A. Malcolm and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Adria Malcolm, Debra Marto and husband, Andrew, and Tracy Norris, all of Albuquerque; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Charles "Chick" Malcolm; and parents, Rinaldo and Antonia Puccetti. Ann was the first president of the Women of the Towing and Recovery Association of America when she established a scholarship in her name, and was the president of the Albuquerque City Council of Beta Sigma Phi. "Chick" and Ann founded Malcolm Services in 1946, which was their pride and joy. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 26, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. SANCHEZ -- Emma A. Sanchez, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away at home on February 24, 2009, with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her daughter, Linda A. SHATTUCK -- Yovonne C. Shattuck (Babe) on February 21, 2009. Mom left us and went to be with the Lord. Mom was born July 20, 1920 in Sheridan, WY. She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel S.; and her son, Robert D.; and her parents. Yovonne leaves behind her loving son, Samuel J. and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Cathryn Lewis and husband David, Samuel J. STEPHENSON -- Kathleen Stephenson, 89, passed away February 23, 2009. She was born July 23, 1915, in Oakdale, PA. Kathleen is survived by her six children, John Stephenson and Sharon, Dianne Starr and Jess Hernandez, Mary Foster and Tom, Rebecca Mennes and Jim, Steve Stephenson and Moni, Mike Stephenson and Cindy; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; many dear nieces and nephews; including a very dear niece Debra Emanuelson and Ron. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herman and (Steve) Stephenson. Kathleen was a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years. TUNNELL -- Grady M. Tunnell, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Sunday, February 22, 2009. He is survived by his son Grady Jack Tunnell of Albuquerque; daughter Linda Krager of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Amy Pearson of Mesquite, TX, First Sergeant Val Tunnell USMC and wife Tabatha of Jacksonville, NC, Staff Sergeant Ian Tunnell USMC and wife Ethel of Jacksonville, NC, Leann Hatchett and husband Andre of Colorado Springs, CO and Lori Krager and husband Mack Chambers of Westminster, CO; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Ruby Pitts of El Reno, OK. Mr. Tunnell was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Juanita Tunnell. Services will be held, Friday, February 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 8510 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. with Rev. Scott Sharp officiating. WERNER -- Mary Werner, 89, wife of Colonel Crowell B. Werner, passed away February 08, 2009. She was born January 01, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio to Oscar Benjamin and Ella Giele Reemelin. Mary graduated from Oakwood High School and DePauw University. In May 1946 she married her husband and spent twenty five years as a military wife at various Air Force bases throughout the U.S., including Kirtland AFB from 1965-1968. Upon her husband's retirement in 1971 they returned permanently to Albuquerque. She was an active golfer and bridge player at Tanoan Country Club and was a band member of the Daughters of the Nile. Survivors include her loving husband; three sons, Michael and wife, Jo Karen, Derby, KS, Lt. Col (AF retired) Patrick, Waltham, MA, Jeffery A. and wife, Susan Lasko, Santa Cruz, CA; brother, Robert E. Reemelin, Dayton, OH; and four granddaughters; plus four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin G. Reemelin of Orange Park, FL. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at the Ballot Adyad Shrine Center.
