AGUILAR -- Rube E. Aguilar, 77, a native of Del Norte, Colorado, who relocated with her family to Albuquerque in 1960, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Rube was predeceased by her husband Michael Ernest Aguilar. She is survived by her children; David Aguilar and wife Lou, Richard Jacob Aguilar and wife Annette, Marian Ordonez, Kenneth Aguilar and Karen Billops and husband Van; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren as well as her brother Jacob Montoya and his wife Estella. Rube will be dearly missed by all. Along with being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Rube shared her bountiful love with many others, first as an in home care giver and later as a volunteer Grandparent at Western Heights Christian Academy. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. also on Saturday, at New Beginnings Church located at 3601 Montgomery NE. BROWN -- Joan Marie Brown, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973 went to meet her Savior on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. GALLEGOS -- Aurelia Tarin Gallegos, age 73, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, after a 20- year battle with Parkinson's disease. She was a deeply faithful Catholic, being a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and the Third Secular Order of Servites. Aurelia earned her A.A. at El Centro College in Dallas. She loved to travel, enjoyed literature and poetry, and authored many poems of her own. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andres Moises Gallegos, O.S.M; mother, Feliz Benavidez Tarn and father, Frank Tarn; mother-in-law, Stella Sanchez Gallegos and father-in-law, Ignacio Gallegos. Aurelia is survived by her sister, Theresa Mock; brother, Joe Isaac Tarin and wife, Priscilla; uncle, Arturo Benavidez; her four children, Anthony Moises, Jose Francisco, Ignacio Victor and fiance Sarah Gonzales and Estella Horsburgh and husband, Lawrence; grandson, Andrew Horsburgh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ignacio and Alicia Gallegos, Nestor and Frances Gallegos, Deacon Manuel and Theresa Gallegos, Fr. GARCIA -- Phillip R. Garcia, 72, went to be with our Lord January 12, 2009, at Sangre De Cristo Hospice Home in Pueblo, CO. Through his tremendous faith in God and by the prayers of his family and friends he fought a very courageous fight with cancer. He was born May 26, 1936, in Pasamonte, the son of Leopoldo and Maria Inez Romero Garcia. Phillip was a resident of Springer, New Mexico and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was a United States Army Veteran serving our country proudly. In 1959, he was drafted into service. After completing training in Fort Benning, Georgia he was assigned to the 15th Infantry Battle Group in West Germany. Upon his discharge in 1961, he returned to employment at the New Mexico Boys School as a correctional officer. However, during the Berlin Crisis, Phillip was recalled to active duty for two more years. Phillip was honorably discharged with the rank of Seargent and once again returned to work at the New Mexico Boys' School. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science in May 1974 from New Mexico Highlands University. Thus changing from working in the lodges and began teaching Special Education. He retired in 1992 after 33 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Steve Garcia and Richard Garcia; infant sister Lucinda Garcia; sister Jessie Martinez and her husband, Miguel Martinez. He is survived by his wife Eva Garcia of Springer; daughter Debbie Garcia of Las Vegas, NM; granddaughter Stephanie Garcia of Denver; sisters Beatrice Gallegos and husband Gilbert of Albuquerque, Audelia "Lela" Ramirez and husband Richard of Glendale, Calif., Helen Talbo and husband Joe of Tacoma, Wash., Inez Marrs and husband Bob of Memphis, Texas; brothers Eddie Garcia and wife Linda of Springer, NM and Chris Garcia and wife Irene of Ribera, NM; and sister in law Bella Garcia of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Eloisa Vigil and husband Tom of Springer, Arcilia Lopez and husband Gilbert of Raton, brothers-in-law Alvin Sedillo and wife Mary of Albuquerque, Elsio Sedillo and wife Judy of Riverton, Utah, Isidro Sedillo and wife Pat of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will take place Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springer. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springer with Father John Cannon as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will take place Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers are Gilbert O. JOHNSON-CORLIS -- Claudia Jo Johnson-Corlis, 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, lost her year long battle with brain cancer Sunday, January 12, 2009 and moved on to a better place. Claudia was a fighter to the end. She was known for her no-nonsense style of communication and honest opinions. A wonderful mother and grandmother (affectionately known as "Granny" after the Beverly Hillbillies TV show character), she will be sorely missed. The matriarch of the Johnson-Corlis family, her brand of family loyalty and leadership will be hard to emulate. Always one to offer support to others and "rally the troops" to help out family and friends in times of need, Claudia was a force to be reckoned with. "Let's get organized" was her mantra and "I know I'm beautiful, tell me I'm efficient" was her personal motto. She is survived by her husband, Norman Corlis; her mother, Betty Newman; her sons, Todd Johnson and wife, Kristin (with grandchildren Ryan and Maura) and Joel Johnson and wife, Tracy; her daughters, Kimberly Harrell and husband, Mark (with grandson Grady), Jessica Martinez and husband, James (with grandchildren Dru Bailey and Thomas), Debi Corlis, and Tom Gay, all of the Albuquerque area; brother and sisters include Ronald Newman and wife, Pam of Westcliffe, CO, Nancy Casillas of Las Cruces, NM, and Amy Suttles and husband, Erik of Pagosa Springs, CO. Claudia was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Newman. She was a Licensed Independent Social Worker and had a successful private practice in this field. In addition, she served on numerous boards, committees, and associations in the field of psychiatric social work. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS and a Master of Social Work from Arizona State University. KEITH -- Donald G. Keith, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Don was born Tuesday, March 27, 1928 in West Texas and was active in the family farming and ranching business. He joined the Army in 1953, then he attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado where he met and married Marianne. After graduating in 1958, they came to Albuquerque and soon became active in real estate and land development. He and Bill Thompson formed Keith & Thompson Realtors, built and operated apartment complexes in the university area which his family still operates. He enjoyed many happy years playing tennis at the Tennis Club of Albuquerque, where he served as President and long time member of the "Dawn Patrol". Donald is survived by his wife, Marianne; sons, Brian Keith and son, Redmon, Scott Keith and wife, Lori and their children, Donald, Richard, Marty, Nicole and grand-daughter, Alexis; brother Larry Keith and wife, Mary Lois of Childress, TX; sisters, LaDelle Gann and husband, Royce Don of Paducah, TX, Ruby Nell Rogers of Pleasant Hill, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. SMITH -- Charles R. (Rob) Smith, born July 31, 1953, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family and much love. He was a beloved husband, father and brother. Rob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debbie, whom he absolutely adored. Rob is also survived by his daughter, Tracy, and her husband Dory. Also his two brothers, Paul Smith of Goodlettesville, TN and his family, Jeff Smith of Tijeras, NM and his family, and one sister, Mary Boldine of Edgewood, NM and her family - as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Rob was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, and his mother, Theresa. He will be very greatly missed. A small gathering is planned for Saturday evening, January 17, 2009 in memory of a very special man. TIBBETTS -- George Tibbetts, 75, born in Rockland, MA, and longtime resident of Tijeras, passed away on January 7, 2009. George served aboard the USS Purdy during the Korean War. He was the Commander of American Legion Post 377 in California, and later a member of American Legion Post 49 in Albuquerque. George was the owner and operator of George's Auto Shop in Cedar Crest for many years. George was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He will be missed by his wife, Barbara Tibbetts of Tijeras: brother, Reggie Tibbetts and his wife, Dene of Bedias, TX; sisters-in-law, Billie Tibbetts, Sally Tibbetts, and Anna Tibbetts; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and maybe most of all by his dog, Mocha. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vera Tibbetts; brothers, Robert (Bud) and wife, Ethel, Vernon Eugene, and Kenny W. Tibbetts; sisters, Geraldine MacCarvel and her husband, Mac, and Vera Infusino and husband, Frank. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to their "angel", Virginia Reynolds, for her care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of George's life will be held later this summer in Tijeras.

TIPTON -- Louise A. Tipton, 86, of Albuquerque passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2009, following a short illness and hospitalization. She was born on Monday, February 20, 1922 in Brownwood, TX. Louise is survived by one daughter, Diane Tipton of Albuquerque; one son, Harry L. Tipton and wife, Becky, of Albuquerque; grandson, Michael Tipton; granddaughter, Shelley Riddlespurger and husband, Gary, and their children Regan and Lena, all of Amarillo, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry L. (H.L.) Tipton, Sr. They farmed in the Forrest, N.M. area until 1978 and moved to Albuquerque in 1982. Louise was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Market News Service retiring in 1982 as the local office manager. She was active in the Zia Roamers chapter of NM Good Sam's Club, holding an office in the local chapter and on the state board. Services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, located at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. where she will be interred. TOGAMI -- Henry K. Togami, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2009 in his home. He is survived by his wife, Chiyeko, son Thomas, daughter Joanna and her husband Grant Therkildsen, sister-in-law Evelyn Togami, sisters Rose Tamura and Marie Nakayama, brothers Jim and his wife Elaine, Paul and his wife Faith, Joe and his wife Dottie, and many nieces, nephews, friends and family. His was a life well lived, starting from humble means born to immigrant parents in Olathe, Colorado, on September 30, 1917. Henry grew up farming in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico and graduated from Grants High School. He proudly served his country in WWII in the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion of the 442 Combat Team and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star for his valor. Henry studied at NM State University where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and at UNM where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories as a design engineer for 28 years. He married Chiyeko R. Sato on January 22, 1964. Henry was a devoted family man and avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. In his retirement, he loved to read, garden, and build furniture for his church and home. Henry was truly a part of the Greatest Generation, marked by his strength, stoicism, humor and passions. Much of this was quietly expressed more by deeds than words and he will truly be missed. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Carlisle Chapel. Services will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2009 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. VALDIVIA -- Jesse Valdivia, our beloved father, was born December 30, 1943 and passed away in Albuquerque on January 14, 2009. Jesse was born in Visalia, CA. He is survived by five sons Jesse, Marty, Gabriel, Alex, Daniel; estranged wife Roseann; sisters MaryEllen, Francis, Linda, all of Visalia, CA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Service will be held at Nativity Church, 4th & Alameda, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 9 a.m.
