GRIFFITH -- William Leonard Griffith, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, went home to be with the Lord on New Year's Eve. Leonard was born in Loleta, CA July 1, 1923. His wife of 56 years, Violet, preceded him in death. After graduating from Fortuna Union High School, he attended Business College and was employed by Pacific Lumber of Scotia, CA, across the river from his hometown of Rio Dell. He was then drafted into the Army Air Force (later being known as the United States Air Force) during WWII and made that his career for 21 years. He had many assignments around the world including a B-29 Flight Scheduler on the Island of Guam and later serving in the Korean Conflict. When he left the Air Force he went to work for the United States Postal Service and retired after 21 years of faithful service in the Albuquerque area, holding many job positions in both the clerk and maintenance crafts. "Bill" was a dedicated Union member, serving many elected positions in the American Postal Workers Union, Local 380. He served on the committee to negotiate the first contract between clerks and management in Albuquerque. After retirement, Leonard and Violet were active members of the NM chapter of the WBCCI Airstream Caravan Club, both serving in many capacities and traveling extensively. Leonard tended his garden of flowers and vegetables when he was at home. Leonard attended Chelwood Park Foursquare Church for over forty years and served in every area where he was needed including bookkeeper, council member, usher, and deacon. He is survived by his son, Bill Griffith, Jr.; daughter, Shirley Griffith, both of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Janice (Bob) Rogers of Arkansas; grandson, Jason (Jeanette) Ferree of TX, grandson, Michael Ferree of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Alex Ferree of TX; sisters and brothers, Irene (Jack) Eacker, Alice Thompson, Reece (Marge) Griffith, Ruby Holmes, Billie (Jim) Brown, John Griffith, David Griffith, Tom (Barb) Griffith, Vickie (Alan) Aust; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, most residing in northern California. Preceding Leonard in death were his parents, William Lester and Alzena James Griffith; his step-mother, Elsie Caston Griffith; brothers, Lester, Raymond, and Gerald Griffith; and sisters, Margaret Webster and Betty Laustrup. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2007, 9:30 a.m., at French Mortuary Chapel, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. HARTLEY -- Christina M. Hartley, age 82, passed away on December 28, 2007 in Veguita. She was previously resident of SW Albuquerque since 1948. She loved children, hugs and feeding anyone who came to her home. She was always a happy spirit. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since age 14, and a member of Sunport Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Christina had been a licensed cosmetologist for over 50 years. She also taught at Mountainview Elementary School prior to transferring to Pajarito Elementary School as an educator, school nurse, and librarian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Hartley; and a son, Don Lee Hartley. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Hartley II and his companion, Sindy Chavez of Veguita; her daughter, Violet LaVere Emms and her husband, Curtis of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Chester, Karen, Jesse, Patrica, Kristen, Jamie, Samantha, Cameron, and Jeff; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. in the Relief Society Room of the Sunport Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8130 Sage Rd. SW, Albuquerque, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Grave dedication and interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. HERREN -- Carole Herren went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2007 surrounded by her family and friends after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born November 28, 1943. She is survived by her mother, Caroline Herren; brother, Albert Herren and wife, Mary Beth and nephew, Will; brother, William (Bill) Herren and wife, Laurie and nephew, Albert F. Herren and wife, Deborah and children, Alyscia and Tiffany; niece, Carole Lynn Brown and husband, Kent and daughter, Summer. She was also survived by her uncle, William Herren and wife, Betty, from Ragland, Alabama; aunts, Freda Noto and Jane Arruda, both from Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Herren. Carole was a very caring and giving person who was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque and the Make a Wish Foundation and many other worthy organizations. Carole served in the banking community for 35 years. She worked in the human resource department and had the opportunity to interact with various branches throughout New Mexico and the western United States. She made many wonderful friends in her long career. She will be deeply missed. HOWEY -- Warren Allen Howey, 51, born September 24, 1956, passed away December 31, 2007, after a life-long struggle with disease. He is survived by a son, Joseph Paul Ulibarri (31); two granddaughters, Nichole Santini Ulibarri (13), and Autumn Call Ulibarri (12); sisters, Sandy Kimmons, husband John, Terrie Gorrell, husband Bob, and Dana Suazo, husband Silas. IBARRA -- Rachel R. Ibarra, 55, a resident of Albuquerque died Wednesday, December 26, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Heriberto Ibarra Sr.; daughter, Cristi Ibarra; and son, Heriberto Ibarra Jr. Rachel was a loving wife and a wonderful mother who always put her family before herself. She loved her children with all her heart. Rachel was the kind of person that left a lasting impression on everybody she met. When family members remember Rachel, they think amazing, caring, and a loving woman. When friends remember her, only one word comes to mind, "Best friend". Rachel loved her work with a passion and was always eager to learn more because she loved helping people. When her son was deployed to Iraq, she was an active member of the Blue Star Mothers and was very patriotic with a deep love for her country. She was an avid church goer and attended mass every Sunday at Holy Family. Rosary was held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Holy Family Parish, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 3, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish. JONES -- Henry Donald Jones, 94, went to be with Jesus on Monday, December 31, 2007. He was born November 13, 1913 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, son of Walter and Margarette Jones. Henry married Naomi Ruth Minner March 6, 1940 in Tucumcari; she passed away Saturday, June 2, 2001. He is survived by, son, Donald and wife, Conchita Jones of Las Cruces; daughter, Kari Jones, of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, Rusty and husband, James Keller of Albuquerque; and three great-grandsons; Bradley, Justin, and Joshua. Henry was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. KIMMONS -- William "Bill" Kimmons, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away on December 31, 2007. A determined and curious individual, Bill never allowed his disabilities to interfere with his zest for life. His interests included all things mechanical, children and animals. His family and friends were very important to him. Bill will be remembered for the smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye that could light up a room. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Kimmons, and siblings, Josephine and Richard Kimmons. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Boning and husband, Terry; niece, Cherie DeFillippo, husband, Butch and their son, Chris; and nephew, Brett Boning, wife, Cassie, and their children, Caitlin and Bryce; and many who cared for Bill over the last fourteen years. KRAMER -- W. Marie Hoernecke was born November 13, 1909 in Rochelle, IL to August and Emma Hoernecke. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Leonard J. Kramer on January 8, 2001. She is survived by son Kurt Kramer, his wife, Josie, and his children, Kim Mickelson (Dale), Jennifer Maginn (Bill), Anne Marie Frossard (David), Robert Kramer (Wendy), Emma Calibro (Chris), John Kramer, and Steven Kramer (Tiffany); and son Carveth Kramer, his wife, Luella, and daughters Carla Montoya (Mark) and Marci Rael (Robert); and 12 great-grandchildren. She had been an active and involved citizen in the Albuquerque community since she and her husband moved here in the 1970s. She was a member of the Sandia Presbyterian Church. For over a decade, she was a volunteer ombudsman with the New Mexico Long-Term Care Department of Aging. She also represented the interest of seniors as a member of Share Your Care, the American Arthritis Association, and the New Mexico Medical Review Association. She served as an AARP member on the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. She was recognized for 100,184 volunteer hours with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was a committee member of the League of Women Voters in New Jersey and New Mexico. She also served as a board member of the Friends of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, was a trained docent and editor of "Pueblo Horizons." She was also the National Issues Chairman for New Mexico for Common Cause. She served on the community advisory board of KNME TV. She was president of the Regional Women's Club of Indiana. She served on the state policy committee in Nebraska. She served as president of the American Association of University Women. During her presidency of the Friends of the Albuquerque Public Library, her leadership helped bring about the building of the Juan Tabo library. She enjoyed her service as a professional storyteller for libraries and public schools in Indiana, Nebraska, and New Mexico. She also was director of choruses in four states. She served on the board of the La Mesa Community Center, which served underprivileged children in economically depressed areas of Albuquerque. She was secretary of the Lincoln Association of Teachers. She was honored to receive the Freedom Foundation's Valley Forge Teacher's Medal for her work as a junior high school teacher in the 1960s in Indiana. In 1996, she was inducted into the Albuquerque Senior Citizens Foundation Hall of Fame. Marie Kramer was a tireless community volunteer and her commitment to public service was consistent and sustained for many years. She earned the respect and friendship of all those who knew her for her caring nature and ability to give to others. She will be dearly missed. LOPEZ -- Berlinda Maria Sanchez Lopez (Berley), 83, passed away December 28, 2007. She was married to Ignacio (Nash) Lopez who died in 1975. Her children are Linda Lopez-Chase, Reginald Lopez, Celine R. Lopez, M.A., Ignacio Gregorio Juan Lopez III, and her grandchildren are David Lopez-Cox, Eric Lopez, and Amanda Lopez. Her greatest source of joy were those 6 great-grandkids: Miriah Wolfel-Cox, Valerie Lopez, Felix Bishop, Jordan Lopez, Joshua Lopez, and Leandra Bishop. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Francis Sanchez Roberts, Fred Sanchez, Emily Sanchez Diaz, Bob Sanchez, and John Sanchez. Her father was Juan Sanchez Sr., and her mother was Emma Weiss.
