CALL -- Ora Carlton Call, 94, passed away on December 12, 2008, at her son's home in Highland, Utah. She resided in Albuquerque for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaius Delmar Call; and three children. She is survived by three daughters and four sons, Larry (Mary) Call, Bakersville, CA, James (Therese) Call, Nosho, MO, Nora (Robert) Sego, Corrales, NM, Don (Patti) Call, Highland, UT, Dorothy (Jeppson) Jones, Phoenix, AZ, William (Sherree) Call, San Antonio, TX; Shirley (Allen) Kunard, Riverton, UT; 27 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held in Utah. A Graveside Service and Burial will be Monday, December 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. French University Chapel is handling arrangements.

CAMDEN -- Elizabeth Anne Ball Torres Camden passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 of heart failure. She was born on October 2, 1960 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Camden of Bosque Farms; parents, Frederic and Kathleen Ball of Albuquerque; her sister, Susan Ball and her son, Francis S. Torres by a previous marriage. Also, by her stepchildren, Mark and Lacey Camden. Elizabeth graduated from Sandia Prep School and attended the University of Denver. She supported herself and her son as a secretary and with a shop she co-owned in Old Town. She loved animals, singing, the arts and gardening. At the age when he was three months old her son performed with her as mother and baby gypsies in the Opera Carmen at the Kimo. She is mourned by her husband, Ron, her son, parents, sister, extended family and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1st United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008. Her many friends are invited to come celebrate Elizabeth's life in the service and remain for a gathering in the Fellowship Hall. Donations may be made to a group that serves women's and children's needs or organ donations.

CHAVEZ -- Sammy J. Chavez passed away December 17, 2008 at the age of 36. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robbie Chavez and his uncle Michael Pacheco. Sammy is survived by his parents Cecilia and Robert Chavez; son, Adrian Jonathan Chavez; sister, Melissa Scott and husband, Todd; grandfathers, Fred Pena and Tobias Chavez; grandmother, Margaret Pacheco; many aunts and uncles; and nephews and nieces, Alicia, Emorie, Todd Jr., Jude Anthony and Raquel. A Rosary for Sammy will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Church. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008, also at San Jose Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. DURAN -- Jose L. Duran, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 18, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emma S. Duran; daughter, Dee Santistevan and husband Robert; son, Andy Duran and wife Billie Jo; son, Jose Duran, Jr.; daughter, Nobella Hall and husband Terry; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Cordy Bagwell and husband Dub, Corrine Mondragon and husband Chris, and Edna Carmichael and husband Jim; brothers, Edward Duran and wife Louisa, Frank Gusdorf and wife Dorothy, and Ted Gusdorf; brother-in-law, Charlie Jones and wife Carol; aunt, Corinne Valerio; and many nieces and nephews. Jose served in the US Army during WWII and was a retired barber. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family. EVERHART -- Virgie Norene Everhart, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008. She is survived by her children, James Everhart and wife, Daisy of El Paso, TX, Kimberly Everhart Keiser and husband, Rick of Fayston, VT, Janice Everhart of Tempe, AZ and Laurie Everhart of Albuquerque; and by eight grandchildren. Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, William Everhart. Virgie was a long time member of the First Congregational Church in Albuquerque and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Virgie's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 8201 Countrywood Road, NE. FISHER -- Mary Ann Fisher, 65, of Albuquerque passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Beth; sons, Mike and wife, Jamie, David and wife, Lee; two grandchildren, Caden and Avery, plus her many loving family and friends. Mary Ann was born February 20, 1943, in Estherville, IA, and grew up 20 miles south in the town of Spencer, IA. She graduated high school in Spencer where she was a national merit finalist. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1965 the same year she married her Jr. High sweetheart, Jim. The two migrated from the Midwest to Albuquerque, where they started a family. From den mother to Girl Scout leader to swim team parent, Mary Ann's focus was always on her family. As her children grew older, she became inspired by the natural beauty of the southwest and Albuquerque's vibrant arts community, and she sought an outlet for her creativity. She was a naturally gifted potter and became well known as an accomplished potter, with residencies at Weems and Yucca arts galleries in Albuquerque. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, gardener, and cook, she was also a highly successful real estate agent. She and her husband owned Jim Fisher and Associates Real Estate Agency, and she was honored as salesman of the year by the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors. Mary Ann had a great deal of gratitude for the fullness of her life. This led her to a lifetime of giving back to her community as a member of the American Association of University Women, Friends of the Albuquerque Public Library, and other charitable organizations. Whatever the pursuit, Mary Ann's dedication and infectious personality inspired her children to follow her openhearted example in their personal and professional lives. Her many friends are invited to share in a celebration of her life at a memorial service Monday, December 22, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. FRANKLIN -- Willard Emil (Frank) Franklin, 84, of Albuquerque, died Sunday, December 14, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gracia; daughter Isabel Martin and husband Mark; son Ben Franklin and wife Patricia; daughter-in-law Barbara Franklin; eight grandchildren Leit Martin and wife Kim, Carisa and boyfriend Miguel, Meisje, Haley, Lane, Megan, Aharon, and Jordan; four great-grandchildren Jonah, Jade, Mackenzie and Kolton. He is preceded in death by his son Alberto Franklin and daughter Luci Franklin. Frank served his country as an Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1973 as a Lt. Colonel and in between taking his family camping and fishing; he sold real estate, and was an avid gardener. He devotedly spent the past two years visiting Gracia everyday at her assisted living home. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. GIRON -- Christopher "Chris" Michael Giron, age 35, passed away suddenly on December 13, 2008. His loving and caring wife Tanya, daughters Rita, Faith, and Katelynn survive Chris. His parents, Randy and Kathy Giron; and brother Brian; grandmothers, Kate Garcia and Andrea Giron also survive him. His many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends also survive Chris, along with a special cousin who was more like a brother to him, Rick Giron II. His grandfathers, Pilar Giron and Frank Garcia, precede Chris in death. Chris is a former member of "La Familia" Car Club, who took pride in the many first place finishes. He also was a sports fanatic who loved the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Cowboys. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father whose pride and joy were his daughters. Although he is gone from this earth, he will live in our hearts forever. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 1502 Sara Road in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

KIVITZ -- Benjamin Kivitz, died peacefully on Saturday morning, December 14, 2008. His short life was lived fully with laughter, compassion and friendship. In his fight against cancer, Ben's true character was revealed. He took on the battle with humor, strength and rarely complained. He will be truly missed and always loved. LAKNAHOUR -- Holly Beth Hickson Laknahour, PhD., died December 17, 2008 after an illness that began in June. Holly graduated from Mount Gilead High School in 1972 and from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1976. She received her Master's and Doctorate degrees in Education and Counseling from American University. Holly spent several years in Memphis, TN in private practice and working for a number of organizations as a clinical psychologist and crisis counselor. While in Memphis, she completed a number of conferences and interviews in her role as an expert in crisis intervention and hostage negotiation. She was active in the Memphis School of Servant Leadership, helped organize and conduct the Memphis Conference for Racial Reconciliation in 2002, and served on the Shelby County (TN) Interfaith Council. Holly served on the Memphis Commission for Jubilee 2000 for several years. She was an instructor at Mid-South Community College and worked extensively for the YouthBuild U.S.A. program in West Memphis, AR. In 2003, Holly moved to Albuquerque, NM. While there she served as the program director for Help New Mexico, a nonprofit organization that assists service and other nonprofit organizations to obtain grant support for their work. She was an active supporter of social causes and worked on behalf of the Wings for L.I.F.E. organization. In 2008, she received the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year for 2007 award from the L.I.F.E. ministry. Holly was a talented writer and educator, an accomplished grant-writer, and she was a fine cook and gifted musician. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Holly was predeceased by her parents, Dr. David James Hickson and Gloria Smith Hickson, formerly of Mount Gilead, OH. She is survived by her son, PFC James Habib Laknahour and his wife, PFC Jennifer Laknahour; sisters, Dr. Amy B. Hickson and Sarah Hickson de Salazar; a brother, David James Hickson, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. LARRAZOLO -- Michael Paul Larrazolo, 50, passed away December 15, 2008. He attended Eldorado High School. He began his jewelry career when he was 18 as a Silversmith for Kachina Jewelers. He owned his own jewelry business until his health began to fail in 2003. He was preceded in death by his father Barry William Larrazolo in 1991. He is survived by his mother Louise Larrazolo; sons Michael Larrazolo Jr., Joseph Larrazolo and Jacob Larrazolo; granddaughter Lillianna Larrazolo-Gonzales; his sisters Calene Chamblee, Debbie Cueto, and Marie Larrazolo; brothers Joe Larrazolo and David Larrazolo; eight nephews and two nieces. MARRS -- Anthony J. Marrs, Beloved dad, husband, son, brother, friend. Anthony was a remarkable man who led a remarkable life. He was an intelligent and hardworking man who received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Mexico while working full time so he could better provide for his family. He had an intuitive sense of all things mechanical, a real-life Mr. Fix-It. He was a proud and dedicated father, who coached little league baseball and supported his children in every way he could. He was a patriot, who served in the United States Coast Guard because of his sense of duty to his country. He was a diligent employee at both Phillips Semiconductors and Emcore, where he did his best to exceed expectations. He was a kind man, a generous man, a lover of music, a comedian with his own brand of humor, a talented artist, a world traveler, an amateur genealogist, an experimental cook, and so much more. Anthony is survived by his wife Cindy; his children Shannon, Anthony, Zachary, and Joshua, his mother Yvette; his brother Chris and his wife Kathy; his sister Theresa and her husband Craig; his nephew Taylor; and many, many friends who he loved dearly. RANCIER -- Jeffrey Roger Rancier, 26, a resident of Albuquerque was killed in a tragic auto accident on Thursday, December 11, 2008. He was traveling to visit family in Colorado. Born in Albuquerque, he attended Montezuma Elementary, Jackson Middle School, Manzano High and Temple Baptist Academy. As a child he loved BMX bikes, playing soccer, and being in the Boy Scouts. Jeffrey was an accomplished photographer who provided all the photography for the recent book "Siegfried Hahn: My Life as an Artist and Teacher." He was an avid outdoorsman who spent many hours in the desert and mountains 4-wheeling and rappelling. He was also an ace snowboarder who taught his little brother, Jack how to snowboard. Jeffrey has worked for Express Scripts, The Great American Steak House, Pro-handyman and most recently, Burkett Construction. Jeffrey married Stephanie Jemison and in 2006, they shared the joy of the birth of their son, Joseph Neil Rancier. Jeffrey is survived by his son, Joseph Neil Rancier; his mother, Jude Splinter of Fruita, Colorado; his father, Jerry Rancier and wife, Christine of Albuquerque, NM; brothers, Jason, Justin, and Jack Rancier; aunt, Neva King; uncles, James Rancier and wife Cathy of Las Vegas, NM and George Harper and family of Long Beach, CA; great aunt Lavelle Sandford; cousins, Kristy and Rachel King and Kelly Harper; other relatives; and many friends. RAWLINGS -- Lillian (Armstrong), died December 6, 2008 in the New Glarus Home in New Glarus, WI. Lillian grew up in Box Elder, MT and when she married James Armstrong she moved to Helena, MT. After the war, Lillian and James divorced. Lillian went to work for Mountain Bell in Helena. In 1957, Mountain Bell offered her a job in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She moved to Albuquerque and worked for the telephone company for 25 years. After retirement from the phone company, she was very active in their retiree program called the Pioneer's. Lillian met and married Harvey Rawlings while working at the telephone company. He preceded her in death in 1982. Lillian is survived by her sister Mary Thomas of Trinity, TX; two daughters Darleen Armstrong (Dan Cleary) of San Angelo, TX; Sharon Dreger (John) of Madison, WI; grandsons John and Jim Dreger of Madison, WI. She is also survived by her stepson Stanley Rawlings (Gloria); granddaughter Cary Rojas (Bill) and grandson Kyle Rawlings of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces and nephews. SAYLOR -- Doris Annette Gable Saylor was born February 15, 1926 to Ralph and Barbara Gable in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Her family moved to Reading, Pennsylvania and at age 12, she met Richard G. Saylor, the love of her life and who remained her very best friend for 70 years. Doris graduated from Reading High School. She was a voracious reader, had a penchant for lifelong learning accompanied by a rare and precise memory and facility for spelling and the English language. She was married on October 12, 1946 after Richard returned from the South Pacific after serving in the Navy during World War II. Their young love grew and they were blessed with two children, Susan born in Reading, Pennsylvania and Richard born in Anchorage, Alaska and ultimately six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Doris loved to travel and over the next 30 years as the committed wife of a career military officer, she lived in Louisiana, California, Washington, Texas, New York, Italy, Hawaii, Arizona, and New Mexico. She was enamored with culture, old world art and architecture, music, children, dogs and always, her precious children. She was Den Mother of her son's Cub Scout Pack 5 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Whether her children or grandchildren were playing in the band, playing in a soccer or baseball game, receiving an Honor Society pin or Ph.D. she was ALWAYS there. She commemorated birthdays, anniversaries and family achievements with special dinners, delicious cakes and went to extraordinary lengths to assure attendance by every family member and friends. Her environment was filled with angels with whom she held a special affinity that she shared with her Daughter-in-Law Susan. Her family was her life. After Richard retired from the military after 32 years of service, Doris and Dick joined the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program and traveled across the United States numerous times in their various motor homes building orphanages, churches and volunteering time and resources to help those in need. Doris was a member of The Zia Romers and The Good Sam Club, DAV 32, and she was a volunteer at the VA Hospital for years. To Doris, it mattered not what language you spoke, what color you were, or where you were from, you were always met coming and going with a vibrant hug, a big smile, a kind word and a plate of food and treats for others. She so loved people and had a propensity for helping others especially those in need, and children. Our precious mother, wife, and friend passed away December 18, 2008 peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by love and admiration for the woman she is and the exemplary life she lived. He is survived by his dear wife Helen of Albuquerque, NM; brother Clyde Schiermeyer of Loomis, CA; sisters Maxine Peters of Rouge River, Oregon and Clara Stone of Jerome, ID; daughter Robin Wisthoff and her husband Kevin, daughter Gwendolyn Frazier, all of Albuquerque, NM; son Nathan Schiermeyer of Oakland, CA; step daughter Halina Leeder and her husband Les of Sequim, WA; grandchildren Anthony and Christina Schiermeyer, Aaron, Angie, and Tina Schiermeyer, all of Tucson, AZ, Rocky and Sarah Schiermeyer of Phoenix, AZ, Ryan and Carrie Wisthoff of Albuquerque, NM, Bradly and Leann Wisthoff of Colfax, CA, Travis and Andrea Wisthoff of McKinney, TX and Davieonn Frazier of Albuquerque, NM. Great-grandchildren Victoria, Lacy, Hailey, Emma, Kira, Kiley, Lucas, and Matthew. He is preceded in death by his son Steven. He set a sterling example for all, of how to live a life devoted to serving our loving god Jehovah and always putting others above self. Many have shared their gratitude and cherished memories regarding his displays of love, compassion, patience and always making sure they felt cared for and loved. He will be remembered lovingly and will be sorely missed by all. We can't wait to see our dear loved one again as promised in Revelation 21:3-5; John 5:28, 29. THOMPSON -- Lucy Marie Thompson, 57, born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico most of her adult life and a recent resident of Augusta, Georgia where she died on Thursday, December 11, 2008 as a result of a tragic automobile crash. She is survived by her mother, Alice Thompson; her sisters, Berta Thompson, Judy Fifield (John) and Lorrie Stepetic (Tim); nephew, Jason Fifield; nieces, Jennifer Fifield, Kelly and Jamie Stepetic; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her very much also survive Lucy. Lucy is survived by her partner, Daniel Nichols of Augusta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thompson. While living in Albuquerque, Lucy was a long time staff member of the University of New Mexico Hospital, as secretary of the pediatric cardiology department where she coordinated the outreach program throughout New Mexico, coordinated the applications of medical students applying for pediatric residency training, and as chief pediatric residency coordinator. She touched the lives of many pediatric doctors in New Mexico. Lucy also worked at Southwest Medical Associates for many years. In Augusta, Lucy was employed by Medical Computer Billing Services. Lucy loved animals - especially cats. She was active in the New Mexico Zoological Society as a member of the parent committee, membership committee, as well as a board member and past chair of Saturday Night Wild. She was a zoo docent and docent trainer. Lucy was involved with the annual ZooBoo event, including organizing the inaugural event in 1990. She also volunteered at Pete's Playground with the University of New Mexico Hospital, specifically with the animal therapy program. Lucy's love for hot air balloons begin in the early 1970's and continued through almost every International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta until 2007, as well as events in Georgia. She was always ready for a hot air balloon ride and loved being part of the chase crew. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Internment will take place at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM, 87108; the New Mexico Zoological Society, 400 Marquette Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102; UNM Children's Hospital for Pete's Playground, 700 Lomas NE - Two Woodard Center, Suite 100, Albuquerque, NM 87102; or Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Lucy loved life and lived life to the fullest. She had a heart of gold, helped anyone in need, and was the life of any party. She brought so much joy and laughter to everyone's life. Lucy will be terribly missed by her family and her many, many friends. Anything good that Lucy gave to you is yours forever.

VALLEJOS -- Priscilla Carrillo Vallejos, 75, a resident of Cuba, New Mexico passed away peacefully on December 17, 2008. Mrs. Vallejos is survived by her children, Bonifacio Vallejos and wife, Ruby from Aztec, New Mexico, Linda Elmer and husband, Randy from Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 16 Godchildren; brother, Juan Carrillo; sisters, Dolores Sloan, Flora Lopez; numerous nephew, nieces, cousins and other family members. Mrs. Vallejos was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rogerio Vallejos Sr.; her son, Rogerio Vallejos Jr.; brother, Gino Carrillo. Mrs. Vallejos was born March 6, 1933 in Cuba, New Mexico to Juan and Guadalupe Carrillo. She was an active member of the Catholic Church and the local community. She worked at the Cuba Ranger District until October of this year. She enjoyed life to the fullest, embracing all who crossed her path. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Final visitation will be Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, New Mexico with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Cuba Catholic Cemetery. VIGIL -- Eduardo "Eddie" "Bardo" "Lalo" Vigil, 85, who was born in Socorro, NM and lived in Albuquerque (Barelas) since about 1938, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Eddie is predeceased by his parents; John and Teresa Vigil and his sister Maria Antonia Vigil He is survived by Catalina, John and David Parker, Marcella and Hardy Jackson, Ben and Cyrus Wade. His sisters; Carmel and Mary Theresa Vigil. Eddie attended Coronado Elementary and Washington Middle School thru the 8th Grade. He joined the Army in 1943, he served in Germany, France; Battle of Bulge, Bataan Death March, Ardens Forest. Worked for AMREP Corporation in Rio Rancho and retired from Eldorado in Santa Fe, Maintenance Manager. He immensely loved his two jobs; he had been working at both, San Jose Elementary as a crossing guard for many years and at the Catholic Charities as a security guard, until his recent slowdown due to his heart. He loved the staff at both places and the children and their parents. He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
