ANALLA -- John "Juan" Analla Jr. 1943 - 2008 John "Juan" Analla Jr. passed away on November 3, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 65. The youngest of three sons, Juan was born on August 30, 1943 in Gallup, NM to John Sr. and Margaret Analla. He was raised in the village of Paraje in Laguna, NM and later relocated to Albuquerque as an adult where he lived for the remainder of his life. In 1998, he retired from a 30 year career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where he was employed as the warehouse foreman. Juan's restless spirit and strong work ethic inspired him to open his own business, Analla's Advertising, which he operated over the past ten years, along with his nephew, Gregory Analla. Juan's engaging and outgoing manner were the hallmark of his business, allowing him to create strong and long lasting partnerships and friendships that have long characterized his personal and professional life. His wit and humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Juan is survived by his brother, Richard Analla and his wife Sylvia; brother Benjamin Analla and his wife Gloria; niece Tami Yurcisin and her son Daniel; nephew Gregory Analla and his wife Margaret; niece Monica Analla-Gonzales; and her sons, Adam, Clint, and Dennis; niece Bethal Cebada and her husband Gabriel; and niece Amy Benjamin and her daughter Haley; in addition to many other beloved relatives and friends. Memorial Services for John "Juan" Analla will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Queen of Angels Chapel, located at 1100 Indian School Rd. NW (12th St./I-40) in Albuquerque, NM. ARAGON -- Roger Diego Aragon passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 while in hospice at Lovelace Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Saturday, October 2, 1948 to Pauline and Tony Aragon in Las Vegas, NM. Roger was raised in LeDoux, NM until the age of 15. He spent the rest of his school years at NMSD in Santa Fe until he graduated in 1968. Roger married Leona Lee in 1976 and they lived in Albuquerque until his passing. Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline and siblings, Juanito, Gilbert, Lorenzo and Maria Anita Aragon. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Leona; daughter, Amoretta and fiance, Faron Candelaria, their son Faron, Jr.; son, Amyas and girlfriend, Sarah and their daughters, Safira and Delilah; his father, Tony Aragon; brothers, Leonard (Ruby), Elmer (Oneida) Aragon; sisters, Rita Griego (David), Tina Beyhan (Bill) and numeous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. CHAVEZ -- Emma Chavez, 92, passed away at her daughter's home on November 3, 2008, surrounded by loving family members. She was born in El Paso, TX on November 15, 1915. Emma is preceded in death by her husband Simon Chavez. She is survived by her sons, daughter and their spouses, Bobby and Darby Chavez, David and Linda Chavez, Tom and Nadine Chavez, Mary Lou and Pete Eissele. Emma is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Dax and wife Jetzabel Chavez, Damon Chavez, Paul and wife Anissa, sons Jonathan and Michael Chavez, Diane Chavez, Kelli and husband Ed Green, Kristie and husband Jay, son Gregory Jones, Diego and wife Valerie, sons Christian and Caden Armijo, Analisa and husband Gerald Jr., son Gerald III and daughter Iliana Lujan. Emma was a life-long resident of Albuquerque and a graduate of St. Vincent high school. She worked for over 20 years with the Albuquerque Public School Systems. She was an active member of her parish, Church of the Risen Savior. For many years Emma enjoyed working as a volunteer in national voting elections. Most of all, Emma shall be forever cherished as the beloved matriarch of all our families and will be missed dearly. CHAVEZ -- Leonard Chavez, 63, a lifelong resident of Willard, NM passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy Chavez; children son Leonard Chavez and his children Andrew and Luke, daughter Denise Gibbons and husband Bobby, and their children Portia, Kendra and Aiden, and five brothers, and one sister, Lewis Chavez and family, Avie Chavez and family, Lilly Chavez and family, David Chavez and family, Frankie Chavez and family, and Donald Chavez and family. Leonard worked for Torrance County Road Department for over 27 years and had been enjoying retirement. Leonard was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed watching his children play sports, traveling to car shows and visiting with friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. CHAVEZ -- Ronald (Ron) E. Chavez passed away, November 3, 2008 in Albuquerque at the age of 47. Ron was born in California and resided in Albuquerque. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69. Ron was survived by his sons, Aaron and Anthony Chavez of Albuquerque; grandsons, Gabriel and Matthew Chavez; parents, Vincent and Grace Chavez; brothers, John Chavez and wife, Monica, Steve Chavez and wife, Anita, and Paul Chavez; sisters, Patricia Weaver and husband, Larry of Albuquerque, and Nadine Chavez of Amarillo, TX; as well as extended family members and friends. ELSEN -- Richard "Dick" Elsen, 82, passed away on November 1, 2008 while surrounded by his family. He was born November 5, 1925 to William and Irene Elsen in Milwaukee, WI. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Terri Elsen, both long time residence of Elephant Butte, NM; eight children, Jeanne Elsen and husband David Civetti, James Elsen, Beth Fincham and husband Lowell, John Elsen and wife Nance, Pat Reddish and husband Andy, and Tim Elsen all of Albuquerque, NM, Joe Elsen and wife Kelly of Norman, OK, and Bob Elsen of Chardon, OH. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and expecting three more great-grandchildren; two sisters, sister Margaret Elsen of WI and Mary Ann Pederson and husband Ole of Kansas; and a host of family and friends. Dick graduated from Marquette University, in Milwaukee, WI as an electrical engineer; and worked for SGS Witter & Associates. Dick was a devoted Catholic. HEASTY -- Wilbur D. Heasty, 92, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 after a long illness. HINKEL -- Heinz Kurt Hinkel, 85, of Albuquerque, NM, died Sunday, November 2, 2008. Heinz was the son of Richard and Johanne Hinkel. He was born December 3, 1922, in Buchholz, Saxony, in Germany. Heinz graduated in 1942 cum laude from the advanced merchant school (Hohere Handelsanstalt) in Chemmitz to begin a carrier in banking. In 1943, he was drafted into the German Army. Upon his return in 1945 he served as a missionary and later as secretary to the East German Mission of the Church of Latter Day Saints in Berlin, Germany. In 1951, he immigrated to the USA and entered the University of Utah, where he graduated in 1953 with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He was united in marriage with Ruth Larisch on September 3, 1954 where the couple made their home in Salt Lake City. Heinz taught mathematics at West High School, SLC. 1966 through 1970, the couple served in the Navajo Lutheran Mission in Rock Point, AZ as teachers. In 1971, they relocated to Albuquerque, NM where Heinz worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1985. He became a member of Cross of Hope Lutheran Church and enjoyed many friendships there. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of 54 years, and relatives in Germany. Services for Heinz will be held on November 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at Cross of Hope Lutheran Church located at 6104 Taylor Ranch Rd NW. KALMES -- Beverly Kalmes, a kind and generous soul who preferred the title of "Grandma" passed away in Kirkland, WA on Sunday, November 2, 2008. Beverly follows her mother Polly Burns and is survived by a large and adoring family. She will be missed by her husband Peter Kalmes, daughters Missy Igel (along with husband Peter and daughter Amelie) and Katie Penn (along with husband Bobby and son Boban); son Tres Kalmes ; her father Lyle Burns Sr. and his wife Betty; sister Brenda Schauer (along with husband Kent and all of their children and grandchildren); and brother Lyle Burns Jr. (along with wife Sarah and all of their children). Beverly's family also included all of her wonderful neighbors of more than 30 years, and many incredible friends. Her children number far more than the three she raised, she was an educator at heart and taught kindergarten at Hubert Humphrey Elementary School for more than 25 years. She taught hundreds of kids and loved them all. In her memory, Beverly had asked that a fund be created to provide playground equipment for the kindergartners that will attend Hubert Humphrey in the years to come. KEMPER -- Shirley V. Kemper, age 86, of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008. Shirley lived her life for the Lord and her family. She was always known as a person who always put others needs in front of her own. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years and the love of her life, Jack A. Kemper. She lived her life in accordance with Prov. 31:25, 28-29. MARTINEZ -- Patrick "Big Dog" Martinez Patrick passed away on the morning of October 24, 2008 unexpectedly at his home in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Cortez, CO on March 2, 1970 to Andronico and Sofie Martinez and resided most of his life in Dolores, CO. Patrick's great loves were his family and friends, Scorpions Hockey, fishing and being in the mountains. His jokes, great personality and enthusiasm for life drew people to him wherever he went. Patrick touched so many lives and made them richer in ways that can never be forgotten. He will be sorely missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father, Andronico Martinez. Patrick is survived by his beloved wife Sarah Peterson and their daughter Sierra; his mother Sofie Martinez; brothers Sam and wife Phyllis and brother Gilbert; sisters Helen and husband Armando, Cathleen and husband Paul and Frances and husband Brad. MCKENNA -- Jane Ellsworth May 21, 1926 - November 3, 2008 Jane Ellsworth McKenna, 82, passed away gently in her home on Monday evening, November 3, 2008. She was blessed to have been surrounded by family and loved ones as she was peacefully taken into the hands of the Lord. Predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Thomas F. McKenna Sr.; and her father and mother, Harris and Helen Ellsworth; she is survived by her sister, Mary Margaret Dittman, Tacoma, WA; children, Kathleen, Park City, UT; Marita (Scott), Leesburg, VA, Thomas (Pamella), Albuquerque, NM, Michael, Jacksonville, FL, and Patricia (Scott), Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Matthew, Thomas, Lorenzo, Harrison, and Maura. Jane graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Oregon in 1948 and began her professional career with CBS News in Washington, DC, where her father was serving as a United States Congressman (R-OR). She met her future husband shortly thereafter and married in 1950. Thomas and Jane relocated to Santa Fe, NM where they resided until their move to Albuquerque, NM in 1970. Jane was a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She gave generously of her time, sitting on numerous Boards including Casa Angelica Auxiliary, The Catholic Foundation and The Governor's Mansion Foundation. She was a member of Rotary International and a founding member of the New Mexico chapter of Federated Republican Women. She owned and operated Discover Travel in Albuquerque until her retirement in 2004. Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2008 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE. MCKINNEY -- Lee B. McKinney, age 88 of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 at a local hospital. Mr. McKinney was a veteran and reservist in the United States Army for over 30 years. He retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Colonel, during this time he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission (Department of Energy Commission), retiring from both in 1980. He was a member of Hoffmantown Community Church since 1973. Surviving are his wife of 67 years Waldean; his children, Brenda D. Davis and her husband James, Jennie Lee Tate and her husband Paul, Larry McKinney and his wife Joyce; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; his brother, Bryan McKinney; and his sister Mildred Coley. NEJAR -- Mary Nejar, 88, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, November 2, 2008. She was born Friday, December 19, 1919 in Belem, Para, Brazil. Mary and her family immigrated to the United States when she was four years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Rachidi Azar Nejar; brother, Abe Nejar; sisters, Rosie Stevens, Galia Macaron, Olga Macaron, Ilda Joeph, Sadie Nejar and Mentaha Mautainy. OLAGUE -- Larry E. Olague, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away early Friday evening, October 31, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM following a very brief illness. He was born on January 24, 1948 to Ernest Olague and Mary Davis in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Olague was married to his wife Catherine on December 14, 1979. He attended Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish in Albuquerque, NM and was a member of ABQ Pigeon Racing Club. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling to various places across the country with his loving wife, often including trips to support his favorite baseball team the St. Louis Cardinals. He is fondly remembered by his family as being a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and sports fan. Larry delighted in watching his granddaughters pitch in fast-pitch softball games. Mr. Olague will be tremendously missed by the family and friends he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Catherine Olague of the family home in Albuquerque, his mother Mary Davis; three daughters, Natalie Olague and her husband Thomas Davis, Michelle Cox, Kelli Olague; two brothers, Stanley Olague, David Olague; two sisters Pat Gabaldon and her husband Henry, Jeannie Gabaldon and her husband Willie; four grandchildren; Sara Stverak, Emili Olague, Sofia Davis Olague, Isabela Davis Olague, one great-grandson; Angelo Jaramillo, all of Albuquerque. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews and sisters-in-laws survive as well. He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Olague and his grandparents. Cremation will take place, a Rosary will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2008 at Queen of Heaven Parish. Private interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date. PAMPALONE -- Mary Bunch Pampalone, age 94, died Sunday, November 2, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leo, her parents, and two brothers. Those left to mourn her passing are her son, Leonard; and daughter, Patricia Bearly and husband Russell, and numerous other relatives. Formerly of Gary, IN, Mary and family came to Albuquerque in 1952. She always loved the Southwest and especially the mountains. She worked as a legal secretary and retained her excellent spelling ability all her life. She was proud of her Romanian heritage and was greatly loved by her family. She will always be missed. SANCHEZ -- Christine Sanchez, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away suddenly November 2, 2008. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Emilio Sanchez; her children, Alfred Sanchez and wife, Sara, Emily Montano and husband, Daniel, Margaret (Peggy) Sanchez; three brothers, Eddie Saiz and wife, Mildred, Jerry Sais and wife, Irene, Sammy Sais and wife, Pat; grandchildren, Jason and PFC. SANCHEZ -- Florence Marie Sanchez, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 30, 2008 in her son's arms while at her bedside. SOLNITZKY -- Di Solnitzky, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 25 years, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008. SWIGERT -- Robert (Bob) George Swigert, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM died November 3, 2008 after a six month battle with cancer. He was born September 11, 1934 in Detroit, MI to Clarence and Frieda Swigert. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Serena, having recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2008. Mr. Swigert attended Valparaiso University with a degree in Electronics Engineering. He also attended the M.D. Anderson School of Business at the University of New Mexico. His work as an electronics engineer took him to Michigan, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Montana and Oregon. He was an Air Force veteran having served at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts and Burns Radar Base in Burns, Oregon. It was in Oregon that he met and married the love his life, Serena Davis, daughter of Oscar and Irene Davis of Burns. Bob held a license in amateur radio and was a member of the American Radio Relay League starting in 1955. He was past president of the High Desert Amateur Radio Club and participated in the Special Events station at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Bob is also survived by his son, Robert Scott of Apache Junction, AZ; daughter, Lt. Kendra A. Carter of the US Public Health Corps in Kirtland, NM; two granddaughters, Lindsay Swigert and Kathryn Carter; two grandsons, Matthew Scott Swigert and Merle Robert Carter; and sister, Marie A. Swigert. Cremation has taken place. YBARRA -- Grace L. Ybarra, 82, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 2, 2008. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Esequiel; her daughter Lisa Ybarra, her grandchildren Shalon and Stacy and close friends Lee and Mary Stevens. Grace was preceded in death by her two sons, David Ybarra and Michael Burmood. The Ybarra family would like to give a special thanks and appreciation to Debbie Anderson, who was not only Grace's primary caregiver but who was just like one of the family. Grace had a great love for kids. She spent her life caring for and making time for children. She ran a day child care out of her home for many years and cared for many kids. She especially loved to provide help for single parent families. Grace was a woman that knew how to speak her mind.
