ASKEW -- Travis J. Sr. born September 4, 1921 and passed away on August 23, 2008. He is survived by his six children, Travis Askew, Jr. and wife, Dawnelle of Albuquerque, Carol Sawyer, and husband, Michael of Los Lunas, Sharon Aragon and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Hanold and husband, Claus of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Gregory Askew of St. Helens, Oregon, Dr. Crystal Askew of Fort Collins, Colorado, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleda in 1991 and his brother, Lennis. He was born in Turkey, Texas to the late Ashby and Ethel Askew. He served his country in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. He worked for over 30 years for Duke City Lumber Company and retired in 1985. He enjoyed staying physically fit by walking and gardening, and he loved handicapping the horse races. He was loved and will be missed by his family and all who knew him. A funeral service will be held for Travis on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary-University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd., NE. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Claus Hanold, Robert Aragon, James Lopez, Daniel Gallegos, Randy Askew and Bud Propper. BUSHMAN -- ELSIE, 93 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on August 22, 2008. She was born in Arizona to Elizabeth and Henry Schwantes. Elsie graduated from Douglas, Arizona High School in 1934 and the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, TX in 1938. She worked as an RN and head nurse in the Douglas Hospital (Phelps Dodge) until she married on June 23, 1942, to Garland F. Busman a widower with three children; Anna, Charles and Clarence. They were married in the LDS temple of Mesa, AZ. Soon after the wedding the family moved to Albuquerque where Garland worked as a salesman for the H.J. Heinz Co. and latter the Texas Refinery Co. In Albuquerque two sons were born to Elsie and Garland; Robert and James. In 1973 Garland retired and the couple moved back to Arizona. They enjoyed retirement living with a summer cabin in Arizonas White Mountains and a winter home in Mesa, Arizona. After Garland's death in 1984 Elsie continued to live in Mesa, AZ. She moved to Lincoln Court an assisted living facility in Idaho Falls, ID in 2002. In 2005 she returned to New Mexico and lived at assisted living facilities in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque. Elsie, a descendant of Mormon pioneers, was a active member of the LDS church all of her life. Besides being a homemaker, she was active in the American Red Cross, teaching home nursing and first aid. She was also active in the PTA and served as president of Monte Vista School PTA. She worked in conjunction with the Bernalillo County Department of Health when in 1954 the pioneer Salk polio vaccinations were administered to all willing third graders. She traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband when he was employed by TRC. She is survived by five sisters; two sons, Robert W. Bushman and wife Pat of Eugene, OR, James P. Bushman and wife Maxine of Albuquerque; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren other family and friends who loved and will miss her. A memorial Service will be held at the LDS Church 4109 Eubank Blvd. NE in Albuquerque on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 3 p.m. a graveside service will be held later prior to burial in Snowflake AZ. EAVES -- Rex Eaves, 93, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 21, 2008. Mr. Eaves is survived by his wife of 66 years, Verjean; sons, Lynn Eaves and wife, Susette, Rod Eaves and wife, Dinah; granddaughter, Louisa. He is also survived by his sister, Adele Melton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sarah; and eight siblings. Rex served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WW II. He retired from Sandia Labs after 25 years. Services will be Monday, August 25, 2008 at 12:00 p.m., at French Mortuary University Blvd. Chapel with burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. HILL -- Nona M. Hill, 76, a longtime resident of New Mexico passed away on Friday, August 22, 2008. She was born on November 2, 1931 in Enid, Oklahoma. She is survived by her ex-husband Alan B. Hill of Cabot, AR and children: Neoma Baker and husband Dale Baker of Albuquerque, NM, Alan B Hill II and wife Jo of Charleston, SC, James R. Hill and wife Sandy of Bluewater, NM, Johnny R. Hill and wife Sandra of Waco, TX, Wesley Hill of Evansville, IN, Irle Lane Hill and wife Cathy of Mt. Pleasant, SC and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime supporter of Victims of Violent Crimes, Albuquerque Police Department and a Volunteer Firefighter of Bernalillo. She leaves behind many loving friends. JOHNSON -- James "Jim" W. Johnson of Bernalillo, NM died Monday, August 18, 2008 after an extended illness. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly and their three children, Brenda and Wayne Johnston of Albuquerque, Ben and Kathy Johnson of Rio Rancho, and Bonnie and Reggie Simmons of Mansfield, Texas as well as his grandchildren, Jay, Cortney and Aaron Simmons, Megan and Meredith Johnson and Marni and Dakota Mullikin and his great- granddaughter, Lillian Simmons. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Susan DelMargo of Bernalillo, and Carol Ann Hale of Byers, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Fairview, NM on May 2, 1936 to Clarence and Lola Johnson. He grew up in Taos where he graduated from Taos High School prior to joining the US Army paratroopers. Jim was an addiction therapist and worked with the VA Hospital in Albuquerque for 13 years. He also worked as an addiction therapist in his own practice, Apple Axe, before going to work for the VA. Direct Burial Services in Albuquerque has handled cremation arrangements for the family. A Memorial Service is being planned by the family to be held at a later date. Jim was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

MCCOLLUM -- Mary Margaret, 90, was born August 30, 1917 in Manhattan, KS, passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Saturday, August 23, 2008. She graduated from St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS in 1938 and married Sterling McCollum (he preceded her in death in 1972). She is survived by her children and their spouses, Tom and Sandra McCollum, Paul and Barbara McCollum, Margaret and Chuck Galassini, Michael and Sue McCollum, Robert and Lynn McCollum and Kevin and Sue McCollum; 16 grandchildren; and 18.4 great-grandchildren. She was a resident of La Resolana for 19 years. Rosary will be Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Mass is pending for Wednesday morning. MEDINA -- Judy Ann Medina, age 56 of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday August 23, 2008 at a local care facility. She was born April 14, 1952 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Fermin and Mary Medina. Judy was a residential real estate agent for John Ingles for over ten years. She enjoyed camping, boating at Elephant Butte, traveling and being with her family especially her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Don Gorenz of Albuquerque; her children, Adella Solano of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carlos Lucero of San Diego, CA; her mother, Mary Medina; step-daughters, Erica Jeantete and Elisa Gorenz all of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Miles and Madison Solano, Luke Lucero; step-grandchildren, Tomas, Gabriella and Isaiah Jeantete; brother, Bobby Medina and his wife, Jennifer of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. MOEGERLE -- Marie K. Moegerle, age 85 of Rio Rancho, formerly of Beaver Falls, PA. passed away on Friday, August 22, 2008 at a local care facility. She is survived by daughter, Donna Eidenmiller and her husband, Ed, of Elephant Butte, NM; granddaughter, Dodi Gonzales and her husband, Sam,of Rio Rancho; two great grandchildren, Jesse and Dakota. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Moegerle on May 20, 2004 and her granddaughter, Renee Eidenmiller in April 2001. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. POORE -- Ida Elvina Therkelsen Poore, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1990, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2008. She was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on October 10, 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wilson Poore and her sister, Katherine Williams of Denver, Colorado. Robert was a lawyer with the Jones, Day Law Firm in Cleveland, Ohio, where they were both long time residents of Gates Mill, Ohio. She is survived by her son, Gregory Robert Poore and his wife, Jean; their three sons, Richard, Michael, and Matthew Poore; and daughter, Julie Ann Thompson and their families which include, eight great grandchildren, all in Cleveland, Ohio. Her daughter, Barbara Throckmorton and her husband, Rex, live in Albuquerque along with her grandson Scott Throckmorton, wife Susan and great granddaughters, twins Paige and Amanda. Another grandson, John Throckmorton lives in Loveland, Ohio along with his wife, Robin and her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily. Her niece, Patricia Hardison, lives in Littleton, Colorado. Ida has had a 40-year interest in raising, training and showing her beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. She was an avid reader and was keenly interested in politics. SCHULER -- John W. Schuler fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the age of 65. He was born in Des Plaines, IL and moved to Las Vegas, NM at an early age. After high school John served his country from 1960-1966 in the US Navy on the USS Providence. He graduated from Highlands University with a degree in electronics. John moved to Albuquerque and then to Corrales, NM where he volunteered in the fire department and served as Fire Chief. He enjoyed hunting, reading, cooking, model trains, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a proud member of the NRA and the Knights of Columbus. His love of family and friends was only exceeded by his love of God. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church. John is survived by his wife, Eva, son Brian and wife, Melissa Schuler; daughter Deanna and husband Michael Clifford; son Paul and wife Kerry Kearney; grandchildren, Jacob, Cole, John Lewis, Grace, Stella and James. John is also survived by his sister Mary and her husband David, along with nieces Diane and Susann, nephew Michael and their families. STEFAN -- Thomas J. Stefan, 76, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008. A resident of Albuquerque since 1968. Tom was born in Cleveland, OH on August 26, 1932, met his sweetheart Helen at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, and they were married on April 24, 1954. Tom joined the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain as a navigator / bombardier. After getting his degree from the University of Albuquerque, Tom became the business manager at St Pius X High School in 1976 where he worked for 18 years. Always devout Catholics, Tom and Helen were very involved in the church with roles including stewardship speakers (over 35 yrs), Eucharistic minister, Serra member (promotion of vocations), and a member of the Queen of Heaven finance committee. Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife Helen, his two sisters Marlene and Sharon Rose, and twelve children (Mary Ellen, Loretta, Debora, Thomas, Joanne, Brian, Michael, Gregory, George, Richard, James, and Joseph) and 14 grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2008 at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am also at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. WEIR -- Betty Keppel Weir, 98, resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1949, died August 23, 2008. Betty is survived by her son, Robert Keppel Weir and wife, Susan Steele Weir; grandchildren, Matthew Robert Weir and wife, Margaret, Michael Richard Weir and wife, Heather; great grandsons, Tyler James Weir, Brant Matthew Weir; and great granddaughter, Hailey Margaret Weir and numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years James Edward Weir and her parents, Charles Pinkham Aicher and Pearl Aicher. Betty was a graduate Western State College in Gunnison, CO, was a teacher and also very active in the communities where she lived. She was a member of St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church, active with the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, Pan American Round Table and The Albuquerque Art Museum. WEISSENBORN -- Barbara Ann (Burrill) "Mutti" Weissenborn, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, a treasured wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called into eternal life by the Lord on Friday, August 22, 2008. Barbara waged her battle with cancer as she lived her life, with strength, bravery, grace and a never ending faith in God. Barbara was born on June 1, 1933 in Evanston, IL to Georgia and Cyril Burrill. Barbara had four sisters and one brother, Mary Whelan (deceased), Joan Straka, Carol Gorelick, Margaret Bratton, and Joe Burrill (deceased). Barbara married her high school sweetheart Ron in 1955 and they had five children. Ron served in the USAF, so the family constantly moved over the years. This life-style created many true and long-lasting friendships wherever they went. Barbara loved knitting and traveling anywhere, anytime! She is survived by her husband, Ron, of 53 years, her children and their spouses, Steve and Marsha Weissenborn of Plano, TX, Michael and Jennifer Weissenborn of Moorpark, CA, Paul and Dagmar Weissenborn of Pleasant Hill, CA, Gail and Robert Putz of Carlsbad, CA, and Greg Weissenborn of Albuquerque. Barbara has nine grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, Katie Jo, Riley, Cory, Dan, Erik, Garet, and Chase. Her family and friends were her greatest blessing and she was ours. Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at Kirtland Catholic Community (Kirtland AFB Chapel) at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008, followed by a Celebration of Life Reception in the Chapel Hall and burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m..
