ATTARD -- Anthony Louis Attard, 79, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 19 years, passed away on July 19, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Lorraine Attard of Rio Rancho; daughter, Nadine Gibson and fiance Michael Kulak of Scottsdale, AZ; and sister, Ann Grippo and husband, Joseph of Bayside, NY. Anthony was a devoted husband and father and a fun loving, good-hearted person who took one day at a time and just enjoyed life. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 26 2008, 10:00 am at Daniels Family Funeral Chapel, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Lane in Rio Rancho with Toni Kleitch and Cici Grant presiding. BYRNE -- Guri Whitley Byrne, born November 29, 1924 in Rochester, NY to William and Claire Skarre, passed away on July 21, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Byrne; and grandson, Justin Byrne. She is survived by her six children, Patricia Leischner, James Byrne and wife Kim, John Byrne, Guri Glass and husband Wayne, Tim Byrne and wife Geri, Bridget Turman and husband Jerry; grandchildren Jeffrey, Drew, Reeve, Barbara Jean, Jerry Jr., Sage, Matthew, and Michael; Great-granddaughters Riley, Zoey. Guri was a Foster Parent for 17 infants that were being adopted. She will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family. She enjoyed arts and crafts and participating in many arts and crafts shows as "Granny Goose". Guri always enjoyed entertaining and her home was always open to those who stopped by. She is truly loved and will be missed by countless friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. CHAVEZ -- Michael Ernest Chavez, 47, beloved life partner, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008. He was born on Thursday, July 6, 1961 in Albuquerque, NM. Michael was a gifted educator who touched the lives of many children and adults in the Albuquerque Public Schools. He was loved for his huge smile and sense of humor. FADGEN -- Betsy W. Fadgen, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at her home. She is survived by her children, Patricia Romero and her husband Daniel, Rebecca Whitlock, William A. Fadgen, Jr. and his wife Teryl, and Mary J. Schaller and her husband Brett, all of Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Thomas, Colleen, Brandon, Courtney, and Scott; and her great-grandchildren, Avery and Zoey. Mrs. Fadgen was born on May 23, 1930 in Springvale, Maine. She married William A. Fadgen in September of 1951 in Springvale, ME. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2002 after 51 yrs. of marriage. Mrs. Fadgen was a Registered Nurse and a Certified Registered Locksmith. She was the owner and operator of Bill's Lock and Key for the past six years. She and her husband operated the business from 1978 until his death in 2002. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all. GIRON -- Dilia S. Giron, 82, resident of Albuquerque went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday July 22, 2008. She was born December 4, 1925 in Ft. Sumner, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anastacio Sena and Anita Gonzales; step father, Margarito Gonzales; husband, Frank Giron; brothers, Ernesto and Donnie Gonzales; and beloved son, Rick Baros. GROOMS -- Dorothy Louise Grooms, 90, beloved mother of Janet Louise Grooms, passed away while traveling near Cooper Landing, AK. Dorothy, an Albuquerque resident since 1970, is remembered as the world's most wonderful mother and wife. She loved to travel and enjoyed cross-stitching and reading. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, W. Ralph Grooms who passed away in 2000; and her younger daughter, Dorothy Morell who passed away in 2001. Dorothy bravely endured Myelodysplasia Syndrome and it's complications. Viewing and visitation is to be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., at the Carlisle Chapel. HAGER -- Kathleen Hager "Kay" was born July 12, 1924 in Gallup, NM. Our beloved and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008. Kay thoroughly enjoyed taking jeep trips, camping, and crocheting. Her greatest loves were being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spending time with her family. Kay will be remembered as a very special lady who was an excellent role model to her family. She always exhibited such grace and dignity even in her times of adversity. She will be dearly missed. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Calvin "Red" Hager; and by her precious grandson, Jason Greaves. HALL -- Susan Ruth Hall, 63, of Grants, NM, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 19, 2008 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Susan was born April 5, 1945 the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Schwartz Ostroff in Brooklyn, NY. After years of working as a waitress and then a bookkeeper, Sue spent the last 22 years of her life caring for children in need. Throughout those years, she and her husband fostered over 100 children, adopting their grandson and three foster children, brothers who were then able to be raised together, and taking guardianship of two special needs foster children. Of the other children they took in, some stayed for days, and others for extended periods of time. All were blessed and their lives made richer by the love and dedication of this amazing woman. Sue survived by her husband 30 years, Harold Dean Hall of Grants, NM; children, Laurie Brothers, Rochelle Hawley, Janene Taylor, Debbie Sena and husband Arnold, Matthew, Joseph, Kevin, and Nathan Hall, Jason and Jessica Duncan, and Jason Steel; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; one brother, Barry Ostroff and wife Lois; and one sister, Karen Barryhill and husband Jim. MAESTAS -- Natividad Steven Maestas, "Tibe", age 80, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, Steven was born in Las Vegas, NM, December 10, 1927. Steven honorably served in the U.S. Army and in the US Air Force. His interests were varied, and his primary career was as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tomasita; his father, Pedro Maestas; his wife, Aurelia Benavidez; as well as his younger brother, Cruz. Steven is survived by his sister, Sofie Zamora of Sparks, NV; his brother, Joe of Santa Fe, NM; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends who loved him and will miss him very much. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred NW., on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. A joint Memorial Service will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe for Steven and Aurelia later in the summer. MARTINEZ -- Andelecia Martinez, 83, a resident of Las Vegas, NM since 1960 passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital in Albuquerque following an extended illness. She was born in Buena Vista, NM on March 17, 1925 to the late Jose Leon and Santitos Mares. She was united in marriage in Sapello, NM on March 10, 1948 to Tony Martinez. She loved and lived to serve the Lord. She enjoyed cooking, joking with her grandchildren and especially spending time with family. MARTINEZ -- Julia Martinez, 89, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ben Martinez. MORGAN -- Florinda Morgan was born in Tierra Amarilla, NM, June 15, 1929. A resident of Albuquerque, Florinda went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 21, 2008. Florinda was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish Family for over 40 years. She had a strong devotion to San Antonio de Padua. Florinda was preceded in death by her grandson, Charles Salazar; and three great-grandchildren, Esmeralda Martinez, Erica Alvarado and Xavier Albarran. Florinda is survived by her four daughters and one son; Jo Ann Salazar, Ricky Martinez and companion Grace Salazar, Judy and husband Barney Marjerison, Jessica and husband Humberto Rodelas, Lupe and husband Frank "Chano" Gallegos; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, Christa Varela; one sister, Josie Trujillo; numerous nieces, nephews. She also had a special bond with her caregiver of 2 years, Litisha Minns. Florinda was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. NELSON -- Mary R. Nelson, 84, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, June 21, 2008. She is survived by her sons, Steven A. Nelson of Denver, CO, John L. Nelson and wife, Sarah of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Kimberly (Stinebaugh) Pacheco of Trinidad, CO, Kate Nelson, Elaine and Jeremiah Baumgartel; and great-grandchild, Madison Louanne Abeyta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Nelson; and daughter, Louanne Stinebaugh. Mary, a native of Sepulpa, OK, worked in the Boeing Aircraft plant in Wichita, KS during World War II. She and Harry married June 16, 1943, and later moved to Albuquerque. Mary retired from the University of New Mexico in 1985, after 20 years of service. Mary, an avid bridge player, earned the Senior Gold Life Master award. Also, she served as a former treasurer of the board of directors for the Duke City Bridge Club. O'KEEFFE -- Merle J. O'Keeffe, a resident of Albuquerque for over 60 years, died peacefully in her home on July 18, 2008, two days shy of her 82nd birthday. Born Merle June Bollerup in McCook, NE to Ethel Faye Law and Jens Jensen Bollerup, she lived in various locales including Lusk, WY, Denver and Los Angeles. Merle married Bill J. Shelton in 1948, and had three children, Carla Jay, Douglas Lee and Patricia Faye. The couple divorced in 1973. She was remarried to William E O'Keeffe from 1987 to 1989. Merle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carla Breeze and Wayne Decker of Albuquerque and New York City; her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Bruce Moxon of Los Altos, CA; her grandsons, Drew and Blair Moxon, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Lee Shelton. As a young woman, Merle was actively involved in the League of Women Voters and the Girl Scouts of America, serving as a Brownie troop leader. Upon retirement from Sandia Labs in 1991, she spent her time taking classes on New Mexico history, traveling widely, singing in the UNM Chorus and generally supporting the visual and performing arts. RODGERS -- Molly Marie Rodgers passed away on July 22, 2008, at the age of 54. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 2003. Molly was born in Camp Polk, LA, and raised in Los Alamos, NM, where she attended and graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1971. Molly moved to Kamloops B.C., Canada in 1974. While living in Kamloops, Molly met her husband, Gino DeMarni, and they had their son, Rino DeMarni (March 20, 1985). She returned to Albuquerque, NM in 2003. Molly was a talented landscaper for 25 years and owned her own business in Albuquerque, Molly Rodger's Landscapes. She enjoyed cooking, painting, golfing, travelling, reading, and music. Molly recently attended TVI, where she received her Landscaping Certificate. She was a devoted mother, sister, and daughter. She was a very hard worker and enjoyed spending time with her clients, many of who become close friends. Molly was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria F. Rodgers (2004). She is survived by her son, Rino J.DeMarni of Kamloops, BC.; father, Bill Jack Rodgers of Albuquerque NM; a sister, Sona Rodgers of Durango CO; and a sister, Kim Rodgers; and brother-in-law, George Mattys of Los Alamos NM. There will be an 11:00 a.m. Service held on Friday July 25, 2008 at St. Francis Episcopal Church located at 2903 19th St. SE (19th St. and Golf Course Rd. in Rio Rancho). In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made to Vista Care Center at Lovelace Medical Center. She is loved and will be dearly missed.

SANCHEZ -- Florine Fay Sanchez, age 84, of Albuquerque, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 15, 2008. She was born January 18, 1924 in Portland, OR to Alton Alexander and Katherine McClellan. She married M. George Sanchez Jr. on August 25, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA. Mrs. Sanchez along with her husband were missionaries serving in Quito, Ecuador, with HCJB radio station. and San Jose, Costa Rica with the Navigators for over ten years. Returning from the mission field they resided in Colorado Springs, CO., until 1988, and retired to Albuquerque. She and her husband ministered in Calvary Chapel and Desert Spring Churches. She is survived by her husband, Rev. George Sanchez Jr. of Albuquerque; her children, Sandra Sanchez of Albuquerque, Tom Sanchez and his wife Brenda of Austin, TX. Steve Sanchez and his wife Nancy of Salem, OR; grandchildren Christopher and Anthony Guber, Sherine (Sanchez) and her husband Ricky Archambaud and Rebecca (Sanchez) and her husband Johann Jareno; great-granchildren, Andre Archambaud and Benjamin Jareno. SANCHEZ -- Philip L. "Phil" Sanchez, age 54, set sail into the sunset from Arabi, LA May 26, 2008. An avid rock hound and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Phil worked for many years at Caesars Palace. He retired in the spring of 2007, and moved from Las Vegas to the the New Orleans area in order to take on a new challenge. Phil is predeceased by his parents, Pat and Jane Sanchez. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra, Anne and husband Fred, and Elena, all from Albuquerque. He is also survived by his nephew, Travers and fiancee, Jayce of Telluride, CO, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the country. A Memorial Mass for Phil will be held Friday, July 25, 2008, 5:00 p.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. N.E.. SENSEL -- Julia J. Sensel, 89, passed away on July 20, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Yrene, of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Michael, Steven, and Holly Yrene of Albuquerque and Don Yrene of Scottsdale, AZ; and six great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She retired from the Department of Energy in 1978, after having served as a budget analyst and an administrative officer. In 1963, Julia became a Certified Professional Secretary, one of only 273 in the United States at that time to attain this certification. She was an avid reader and had a great passion for music. THOMAS -- Judith Lee Thomas, asleep in her Minden, NV home, went to live with Jesus in His Heavenly Home on July 7, 2008. She was born Judith Lee Ingram in Memphis, TN on October 6, 1943. Judy is survived by her husband, Glenn Paul Thomas, Minden, NV; sons: Joseph Louis Ness, Lake Oswego, OR and Lawrence Steven Ness and wife, Ellie, Aptos, CA; parents, Alfred Lovered Vernon and Mary Frances Jacobs Ingram, Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Patricia Dianne Ingram, Albuquerque, NM and Mary Louise Ingram Taylor, Santa Fe, NM; brothers, A. L. TITZL -- Richard Titzl. Our beloved dad, Richard (Dick) Titzl a long time Albuquerque resident left us quickly and quietly on Monday July 21, 2008. He was born in Louisville, KY on June 1, 1923 and first came to Albuquerque in the early 50's, after serving as a GCA Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Italy during World War II. He attended the University of New Mexico, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1956. He opened a family business, called the Art Center of Albuquerque in 1965, which he operated until the early 80's, when it eventually became the Art Framing Center. He enjoyed collecting fine coins and rare stamps. He was also an artist who loved to paint and draw and continued to create until well into his 80's. He loved to read and was an avid sports and history buff. He loved college football and closely followed most of the games throughout the year. Dick was predeceased by three children, Mary Ann Titzl, Lisa Titzl, and Leif Taylor. He is survived by one brother, Robert Titzl of Louisville KY: and four children; Rick Titzl, Tom Titzl, Barbara Fajardo, and Karl Titzl. He also had seven grandchildren, Daniel and Evan Fajardo, R.J. and Crista Taylor, Vanessa Titzl, Janel and Angela Titzl. The family would like to express our gratitude to Albertson's and their employees at the San Antonio and Wyoming branch who were so very kind, compassionate, and helpful to our father, Dick. A Private Family Memorial will be held to remember our dad to honor his memory. He will be greatly missed and in our hearts and minds everyday.

TRUJILLO -- Joseph "JW" Trujillo Sr., 85, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. It is with great sadness that we announce his death. Trujillo, a native New Mexican from Bernalillo, served with the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945. After his discharge, JW was employed as Chief of Supply, Immigration, and Naturalization Service at the Japanese Internment Camp in Santa Fe. He and Roselia, his wife of 63 years, moved to Los Alamos in 1947, where he was an accountant for the Zia Company. In 1951, Trujillo joined the Atomic Energy Commission as an accountant. Two years later, he transferred to the AEC Protective Force. JW was a founding member of LULAC and was instrumental in establishing thirty seven councils throughout the Southwest. He served as Regional Governor for the Southwestern States in the 1950's and in 1957 was elected Outstanding National LULAC Man of the Year. Trujillo was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Elks, and he served as Chairman of the Los Alamos Town Council in the 1950s. JW opened a Tax Service and continued successfully after his retirement in 1979 from the AEC as a tax accountant and real estate investor throughout New Mexico. JW and Roselia moved to Albuquerque in 1995. He was preceded in death by his mother Lupe Montano, a long time Los Alamos resident. He will be greatly missed by his wife Roselia; five children, and their families, Joseph W. Jr. and wife Kristen of Albuquerque, Patrick and wife Lynn of Atlanta, GA; John of Albuquerque, Victor of Albuquerque, Viola and partner Stephanie of Tesuque. He is survived by three sisters, Consuelo Jaramillo of Bernalillo, Gloria Vigil of Santa Fe, and Angelina Trujillo of Los Alamos; five grandchildren, Marc and wife Linda of Sherman Oaks, CA; Michelle of Albuquerque; Laura and husband Dewayne Baxley of Atlanta, GA; Victor of Albuquerque; Gina and husband David Lewis of Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be sons Joseph W. Jr., Patrick, John, and Victor, grandson Victor, godsons Art Jaramillo, Michael Chavez, and Joe Rojas. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care and concern. VICKERS -- Charles W. Vickers, a life-long resident of Albuquerque NM , passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Chuck aka (Chug) was born in Grand Junction, CO, on Wednesday, July 2, 1952 and spent virtually his entire life in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Vickers and Betty J. Vickers; and is survived by his favorite aunt, Rosemary Johnston; and five brothers and sisters: Dr. Lon S. Vickers and his wife, Marke of Marietta, OH, Ann Motte and her husband, John of Perris, CA, Philip A. Vickers of Scottsdale and Sedona, AZ, John A. Vickers and his wife, Jannette of Vail, CO, and Tricia Wallace and her husband, Lyle W. of Parker, CO. Chuck is also survived by his beloved cousin, Julie Braswell and her husband, Bruce, as well as 12 nieces and nephews, and the Braswell boys. Chuck also will be greatly missed by his "girls", Tracey, Cindy, Mona, and Jules and his close hunting and golf buddies, Jim, Michael, Dennis, and Alex. Chuck attended St. Pius High School in Albuquerque and graduated with a degree in business from the University of New Mexico. He was a 25 year employee at UNM, retiring in 2000 having served as a financial executive in the Development Office of the University. In addition to his significant contributions to the UNM Development Office he also served a term as President of CASE, (Council for the Advancement of Secondary Education). Chuck was one of the two people who started UNM's very successful Presidential Scholarship Program. An avid golfer his entire life, he continued his passion for the game after retirement by working as a Ranger at the UNM North Course, and heavy involvement in the development of the Jr. Golf Program. He enjoyed his annual camping and hunting trips with his group of close friends, taking pride in never actually firing his rifle in over 20 years of "hunting" and camping with his friends. Music was a very important part of Chuck's life as he taught himself at an early age to play the guitar. He loved the music of Clapton, the Eagles, and Beatles, playing their music regularly. At one time, he was also a musician in a local Albuquerque band. There will be a "Celebration of Life" held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at The UNM South Golf Course Pavillion from 4:00-6:00 p.m. His family invites all of Chuck's friends and friends of family members to join us in the celebration of his life. WRIGHT -- Roger Dee Wright, 68, born December 23, 1939 in Beatrice, NE, died July 17, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Becky Wright. His three children, who he was extremely proud of, Willa Cather Inbody (Chris), Jason Dee Wright (Hannah) and Ariel Lynn Wright (Christopher). He is also survived by his beautiful granddaughter, Stara Wright; his parents, Walter Dee and Bobby Wright; and one sister, Nikki Reisen. Roger, a resident of Gallup, NM where he retired as the McKinley Co. Dir. for the Department of Human Services. A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, July 20, 2008.
