ABEYTA -- Patrick Abeyta Jr., 46, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at his home in Polvadera, NM, He was born February 27, 1962 in Albuquerque, NM to Patrick and Rosina (Jimenez) Abeyta. Patrick enjoyed the outdoors and as a young boy, loved to visit his grandparents ranch in Tesuque, NM. He is survived by his wife, Debra Torres Abeyta of their home in Polvadera; his children: Samuel and Stephanie Abeyta, both of Polvadera; his parents, Patrick and Rosina Abeyta of Albuquerque; sisters: Sylvia Abeyta and Julie Pollack, both of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Polvadera cemetery. BERMUDEZ -- Luciano "Chano" Bermudez, 80, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 in his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Celia Bermudez; daughters, Lupe Madrid and Viola Bermudez; son, Raymond Bermudez and Emilia; grandson, Jordan Madrid; granddaughter, Jenna Madrid; brothers, Joe and wife, Toni, and Jack Bermudez and wife, Nohemi; and sisters, Rayitos Benavidez, Delfinia Gonzales. Chano was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Anita Bermudez; and brother, Eugenio Bermudez. He was born in Manzano, NM and moved to Albuquerque in the 50's, where he lived most of his life. Before he married, he spent time in the Army stationed in Alaska, after which he raised his family back in Albuquerque. Chano was a jack of all trades and spent much of his time working on heavy machinery and neighbors cars; he also drilled wells with his brother. His passion was fishing and hunting and spending time in the outdoors and on the farm. Chano was a caring man always willing to help a neighbor. Chano was very easy going and loved to joke around. BUSHEY -- Gurna Maes Gordon Bushey, 92, of Albuquerque, NM, died Monday July 14, 2008 at the Family Tree Assisted Living Home in West Point City, UT. She was born September 19, 1915 in Syria, VA and was one of 13 children. The family later moved to York, PA, where she graduated from high school and attended Business College. She had a beautiful voice and sang with bands during the early 1930's, then married Harry Bushey in 1938 and had two sons. The family moved to the southwest in 1943, where they made their permanent home. Mrs. Bushey was an accomplished woman; proficient in her business life, trained as a master food preserver, and an adventurous outdoors woman and traveler. She and her husband were very active in their church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served two full time missions. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and has left a legacy of wonderful memories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2004; and two grandsons. Survivors include two sons, Max Bushey and wife Charity Waterman Bushey, and Bob Bushey and wife Claudia Cowan Bushey; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Druck; and one brother, Elvin Gordon, both of York, PA. A Graveside Service will be held at the Washington City Cemetery, Washington, KS on July 26, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements are through Wards Funeral Home, Washington, KS.

BYRNE -- Guri Whitley Byrne, born November 29, 1924 in Rochester, NY to William and Claire Skarre, passed away on July 21, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Byrne; and grandson, Justin Byrne. She is survived by her six children, Patricia Leischner, James Byrne and wife Kim, John Byrne, Guri Glass and husband Wayne, Tim Byrne and wife Geri, Bridget Turman and husband Jerry; grandchildren Jeffrey, Drew, Reeve, Barbara Jean, Jerry Jr., Sage, Matthew, and Michael; Great-granddaughters Riley, Zoey. Guri was a Foster Parent for 17 infants that were being adopted. She will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family. She enjoyed arts and crafts and participating in many arts and crafts shows as "Granny Goose". Guri always enjoyed entertaining and her home was always open to those who stopped by. She is truly loved and will be missed by countless friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. CAMACHO -- DEBORAH C. Deborah C. Camacho, 47, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away at her residence following an extended illness. She is survived by one son, Lee Alarcon; and one daughter, Maressa Alarcon both of Albuquerque, NM; her father, Henry Camacho of Honolulu, HI; her step-father, Joseph F. Pacheco of Rainsville, NM; two brothers, Michael Camacho and wife Teia and Joseph Lucero and wife Melanie all of Farmington, NM; two sisters, Linda Ulibarri of Albuquerque and Alicia Pope and husband Geremy of Estancia, NM; two grandchildren, Isaac and Ezekiel Alarcon both of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was born in Honolulu, HI, on June 2, 1981. She moved to Albuquerque in 1970, and graduated from Rio Grande High School. She attended New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas for three years and made her home in Albuquerque. COLEMAN -- Stephanie Marie Coleman, 54, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a resident of Rio Rancho since 1995. Stephanie was born July 2, 1954, the daughter of Raul and Christine Dominguez. She attended Manzano High School and went on to receive her BA in Journalism from UNM. In 1980, she was awarded the Blue Key and was the Chapter President. In 1983, she received her Bachelors of Arts Magna Cum Laude and in 1995, received a Masters of Business Administration from Baylor University in Waco, TX. Stephanie was recently clothed into the Holy Cross Community Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites, taking the name, "Sister Stephanie of Jesus in the arms of Mary" and was a strong advocate for Pro-Life issues. Stephanie enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to travel. She traveled to many countries but one of her most memorable trips was to Italy in May of 2007, with her beloved husband, Allen. Stephanie was preceded in death by her father Raul Dominguez. She is survived by her husband of almost 31 years, Allen Coleman; children, Monica Romero, Dennis Romero and wife Christina; mother Christine Dominguez; grandchildren, Celina, Vanessa, Michael, Jonathan, and Rocky; brothers, Kevin Dominguez, Orae Dominguez, Ronald Dominguez and wife Vivien, Roland Dominguez and wife Maria; sisters Rebecca Long and husband James, and Renee Garcia. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for all the love and support of their relatives and friends who brought so much joy to Stephanie during the last few months of her journey and to Father Rick Zerwas; Deacons George, Jerome, and Norbert; all of Church of the Incarnation, for their constant love and support. Stephanie will forever be remembered for her strong faith in Jesus Christ, her devoted love for Mary our Blessed Mother, and for the strength, courage, and grace that she showed us during these past two years. FADGEN -- Betsy W. Fadgen, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at her home. She is survived by her children, Patricia Romero and her husband Daniel, Rebecca Whitlock, William A. Fadgen, Jr. and his wife Teryl, and Mary J. Schaller and her husband Brett, all of Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Thomas, Colleen, Brandon, Courtney, and Scott; and her great-grandchildren, Avery and Zoey. Mrs. Fadgen was born on May 23, 1930 in Springvale, Maine. She married William A. Fadgen in September of 1951 in Springvale, ME. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2002 after 51 yrs. of marriage. Mrs. Fadgen was a Registered Nurse and a Certified Registered Locksmith. She was the owner and operator of Bill's Lock and Key for the past six years. She and her husband operated the business from 1978 until his death in 2002. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all. GROOMS -- Dorothy Louise Grooms, 90, beloved mother of Janet Louise Grooms, passed away while traveling near Cooper Landing, AK. Dorothy, an Albuquerque resident since 1970, is remembered as the world's most wonderful mother and wife. She loved to travel and enjoyed cross-stitching and reading. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, W. Ralph Grooms who passed away in 2000; and her younger daughter, Dorothy Morell who passed away in 2001. HAGER -- Kathleen Hager "Kay" was born July 12, 1924 in Gallup, NM. Our beloved and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008. Kay thoroughly enjoyed taking jeep trips, camping, and crocheting. Her greatest loves were being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spending time with her family. Kay will be remembered as a very special lady who was an excellent role model to her family. She always exhibited such grace and dignity even in her times of adversity. She will be dearly missed. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Calvin Red Hager; and by her precious grandson, Jason Greaves. HALL -- Susan Ruth Hall, 63, of Grants, NM, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 19, 2008 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Susan was born April 5, 1945 the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Schwartz Ostroff in Brooklyn, NY. After years of working as a waitress and then a bookkeeper, Sue spent the last 22 years of her life caring for children in need. Throughout those years, she and her husband fostered over 100 children, adopting their grandson and three foster children, brothers who were then able to be raised together, and taking guardianship of two special needs foster children. Of the other children they took in, some stayed for days, and others for extended periods of time. All were blessed and their lives made richer by the love and dedication of this amazing woman. Sue survived by her husband 30 years, Harold Dean Hall of Grants, NM; children, Laurie Brothers, Rochelle Hawley, Janene Taylor, Debbie Sena and husband Arnold, Matthew, Joseph, Kevin, and Nathan Hall, Jason and Jessica Duncan, and Jason Steel; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; one brother, Barry Ostroff and wife Lois; and one sister, Karen Barryhill and husband Jim. She was a longtime resident of Moriarty, NM, until her husband's death when she moved into Albuquerque to be close to family. She was a longtime member of the Extension Club, Sheriff's Posse Women's Auxiliary, and Wives of Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was very active in her family and community and loved her dog. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elven Chuck Rich. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd, Chapel. ROMERO -- Lucas S. Romero was born June 17, 1924 and passed away July 19, 2008. He was the beloved father of Alfonso Romero, Elizardo Romero, Cecelia Romero Tkach, Tony Romero, Joe Romero, Michael Romero, Edward Romero, and David Romero. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, with one due in August 2008. Lucas was preceded in death by his wife, Alice O. Romero. A Rosary took place on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 and a Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10 a.m., at San Jose Catholic Church on Broadway. Cremation is to follow. SANCHEZ -- Philip L. "Phil" Sanchez, age 54, set sail into the sunset from Arabi, LA May 26, 2008. An avid rock hound and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Phil worked for many years at Caesars Palace. He retired in the spring of 2007, and moved from Las Vegas to the the New Orleans area in order to take on a new challenge. Phil is predeceased by his parents, Pat and Jane Sanchez. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra, Anne and husband Fred, and Elena, all from Albuquerque. He is also survived by his nephew, Travers and fiancee, Jayce of Telluride, CO, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the country. A Memorial Mass for Phil will be held Friday, July 25, 2008, 5:00 p.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. N.E.. SCHAUMBURG -- Blanche A. Schaumburg, the daughter of John and Anna (Kavka) Cerny, was born December 7, 1919, on her family's farm near Stanton, NE. On September 2, 1942, Blanche was united in marriage with Chester A. Schaumberg at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Woolstock, IA. The couple made their home near Woolstock and engaged in farming. Blanche was a homemaker, worked on the farm with Chester, and belonged to the Know Your Neighbor Club. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, collecting and making dolls. Blanche was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Woolstock - serving in the Ladies Aid. Blanche passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, in Albuquerque, NM, at the age of 88 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester; grandson, Jared Schaumburg; granddaughter, Michelle Byrum; and brother, Leonard Cerny. Survivors include her children: Peggy Gillespie (Gilbert) of Albuquerque, NM, Vicki Byrum of Anchorage, AK, Lori Downey of Ida Grove, IA, John Schaumburg (Denae) of Albuquerque, NM, and Ronald Schaumburg (Robyn) of Woolstock, IA; grandchildren: Erica York, Christina R. Byrum, Robert Downey, Leathea Hamilton, Keishia L. Schaumburg, Jaryn and Jorey Schaumburg; great-grandchildren: Zacary, Jacob and Brooklyn; sisters: Ann Hill of Florida, Mary Brachman of Nebraska, Helen Bartman of Colorado, Alice Arlene Priest of Montana and Dorothy Spoonover of Montana; as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Woolstock with Rev. Bill VanNostrand officiating. TRUJILLO -- Joseph "JW" Trujillo Sr., 85, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. It is with great sadness that we announce his death. Trujillo, a native New Mexican from Bernalillo, served with the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945. After his discharge, JW was employed as Chief of Supply, Immigration, and Naturalization Service at the Japanese Internment Camp in Santa Fe. He and Roselia, his wife of 63 years, moved to Los Alamos in 1947, where he was an accountant for the Zia Company. In 1951, Trujillo joined the Atomic Energy Commission as an accountant. Two years later, he transferred to the AEC Protective Force. JW was a founding member of LULAC and was instrumental in establishing thirty seven councils throughout the Southwest. He served as Regional Governor for the Southwestern States in the 1950's and in 1957 was elected Outstanding National LULAC Man of the Year. Trujillo was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Elks, and he served as Chairman of the Los Alamos Town Council in the 1950s. JW opened a Tax Service and continued successfully after his retirement in 1979 from the AEC as a tax accountant and real estate investor throughout New Mexico. JW and Roselia moved to Albuquerque in 1995. He was preceded in death by his mother Lupe Montano, a long time Los Alamos resident. He will be greatly missed by his wife Roselia; five children, and their families, Joseph W. Jr. and wife Kristen of Albuquerque, Patrick and wife Lynn of Atlanta, GA; John of Albuquerque, Victor of Albuquerque, Viola and partner Stephanie of Tesuque. He is survived by three sisters, Consuelo Jaramillo of Bernalillo, Gloria Vigil of Santa Fe, and Angelina Trujillo of Los Alamos; five grandchildren, Marc and wife Linda of Sherman Oaks, CA; Michelle of Albuquerque; Laura and husband Dewayne Baxley of Atlanta, GA; Victor of Albuquerque; Gina and husband David Lewis of Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be sons Joseph W. Jr., Patrick, John, and Victor, grandson Victor, godsons Art Jaramillo, Michael Chavez, and Joe Rojas. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care and concern. VICKERS -- Charles W. Vickers, a life-long resident of Albuquerque NM , passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Chuck aka (Chug) was born in Grand Junction, CO, on Wednesday, July 2, 1952 and spent virtually his entire life in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Vickers and Betty J. Vickers; and is survived by his favorite aunt, Rosemary Johnston; and five brothers and sisters: Dr. Lon S. Vickers and his wife, Marke of Marietta, OH, Ann Motte and her husband, John of Perris, CA, Philip A. Vickers of Scottsdale and Sedona, AZ, John A. Vickers and his wife, Jannette of Vail, CO, and Tricia Wallace and her husband, Lyle W. of Parker, CO. Chuck is also survived by his beloved cousin, Julie Braswell and her husband, Bruce, as well as 12 nieces and nephews, and the Braswell boys. Chuck also will be greatly missed by his "girls", Tracey, Cindy, Mona, and Jules and his close hunting and golf buddies, Jim, Michael, Dennis, and Alex. Chuck attended St. Pius High School in Albuquerque and graduated with a degree in business from the University of New Mexico. He was a 25 year employee at UNM, retiring in 2000 having served as a financial executive in the Development Office of the University. In addition to his significant contributions to the UNM Development Office he also served a term as President of CASE, (Council for the Advancement of Secondary Education). Chuck was one of the two people who started UNM's very successful Presidential Scholarship Program. An avid golfer his entire life, he continued his passion for the game after retirement by working as a Ranger at the UNM North Course, and heavy involvement in the development of the Jr. Golf Program. He enjoyed his annual camping and hunting trips with his group of close friends, taking pride in never actually firing his rifle in over 20 years of "hunting" and camping with his friends. Music was a very important part of Chuck's life as he taught himself at an early age to play the guitar. He loved the music of Clapton, the Eagles, and Beatles, playing their music regularly. At one time, he was also a musician in a local Albuquerque band. There will be a "Celebration of Life" held on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at The UNM South Golf Course Pavillion from 4:00-6:00 p.m. His family invites all of Chuck's friends and friends of family members to join us in the celebration of his life. YOUNGER -- Ellis Neil Younger, 60, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008, after a valiant, strong, and brave battle with a terminal illness. Ellis and his family have been residents of Albuquerque for over nine years. He was an avid golfer and sports fanatic, getting the chance to play and win in the Little League World Series Championship as a child. Ellis had a passion for his career, for raising money with different charitable organizations, and was an active member of Knights of Columbus with Risen Savior. He is survived by his loving wife of over 31 years, Cynthia G. Younger; sons, Michael D. Younger of Phoenix, AZ, Evan Younger of Seal Beach, CA, and Nicholas Younger of Albuquerque; sisters, Laveta Martin and husband Ralph of Burnet, TX, and Karen Davis and husband Michael of Rossville, TN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Francine and Richard Westfall of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Richard Gabello and mother-in-law, Anne Gabello, both of Vestal, NY; his loyal and faithful companions, Cody and Ally, his dogs and Freddie, his cat; and various nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other close family and friends.
