BARNCASTLE -- Rudolph Barncastle, 74, husband, father, golfer, engineer, and lover of life, died June 4 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He graduated from Albuquerque High school, served in the Navy during the Korean War, and attended the University of New Mexico. He then spent most of his life working for the phone company as an engineer. He retired from US West after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pam; daughter Arlene and husband Steve Baum, daughter Lynne Barncastle; son John Barncastle; step-son Shawn and wife Leah Berry; step-daughter Danielle and husband Justin Mendenhall; first wife Pat Metoyer; step-father Joe Mirabal; brother Leroy Barncastle; sisters; Irene and husband Dean Cox, Lorraine and husband Joe Verhest, grandchildren Eli, Jenny, Ethan, Karly, Kurt, Lorien, Thaddeus, Jackson, Connor and Hannah. He was preceded in death by his father, John Barncastle; mother Lena Mirabal; and three beloved pets who are waiting for him to take them on an eternal walk. BRINK -- Rev. Kurt Brink, 90, a long time resident of Albuquerque, fell asleep in Jesus on June 8, 2008 in Bryan, Texas. He is survived by daughter, Lois Braatz and husband, Ken, daughter-in-law Rhonda Brink, daughter, Annie Roth and husband, Homer, son, Rev. Paul Brink and wife, Barbara, thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, sister, Ruth Hass and husband, Leroy, and sisters-in-law, Kathryn and Barbara Brink. Pastor Brink was preceded in death by his steadfast wife of 52 years, Martha Schaal Brink, his son David Brink, and his siblings Harry, Esther, Agnes, Marvin, Marie, and Carl. He was ordained in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod in 1941 and pastored congregations in Southern California before being called to Immanuel Lutheran in Albuquerque in 1960 and serving there until his retirement in 1982. His funeral will be held Friday, June 13, 2008, 10:30 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold Ave. SE with Rev. Randy Walquist officiating. KENYON -- Merita Louise Brown Thompson Kenyon, age 80 passed away Monday, June 9, 2008. Merita was born to Thomas C. and Mable (Cupp) Brown of Woodstock, Richland County, WI on March 10, 1928. Merita's early home consisted of her parents, brother T. Justin Brown, and a foster sister Louise McDermott (Peggy). She married Melvin Eugene Thompson of Lenora, Iowa, and he passed away in June of 1974 from cancer. After a period of years, Merita married Harvey C. Kenyon. He was not doing well with Wisconsin winters. The couple moved to New Mexico to find the climate the doctors felt would be right for him. After a number of years, Merita developed serious blood pressure problems and was told she could no longer live at the altitude of New Mexico. Being Harvey was no longer able to work, the couple returned to Wisconsin. Harvey passed away from heart problems in August of 1995. Although being left with no immediate family, Merita found support and encouragement from her church family, close friends and extended family. In addition to her husbands and daughter, Merita was preceded in death by her brother T. Justin Brown; and her foster sister Louise "Peggy" McDermott. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Pastor Chuck Hayes will officiate and Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery. Friends may call at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The Pratt Funeral Service is assisting the family with their arrangements. KING -- Violet Majarov King, 89, passed to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, June 9, 2008. Born August 22, 1918 in Ohio to Vasa and Sabeta Majarov, immigrants from the Austria-Hungarian Empire, she was the youngest of their eight children. Her father died in the Flu Pandemic of 1918 when she was a few months old. With the help of family, church and community, her mother, brothers and sisters raised her in a loving and close family through the difficult years of the Great Depression. She married Cody Edison King in March 1937. They eloped to Ripley, WV so that Firestone Rubber Co. wouldn't find out, since during those difficult economic times married women weren't allowed to work. They moved to CA prior to the outbreak of WWII. She joined the ranks of "Rosie the Riveters" during the war effort. Her brother Peter was killed in France in November 1944 while serving in the Army. Cody worked industrial construction for B & W and Stearns-Rogers so they moved frequently. They chose Albuquerque as their home base in 1952 to raise their two children while Cody traveled. The family would join him during the summers. Their travels took them to 21 states, including NM, HI, AK, and Saskatchewan, Canada and Israel. They retired to their home in Albuquerque in 1977. Cody preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by son, Wayne King and wife, Dorothy of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Cody Anne Kennedy and husband, Todd; great-grandson, Kalen of Lakewood, CO; grandson, Wayne E. King and wife, Celia; great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Wayne M. of Denton, TX; daughter, Reta M. King-Cannon of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Sara Spencer and husband, Shannon; great-granddaughters, Abigayle and Bryce Marie of Westminister, CO; granddaughter, Melinda Moncayo and husband, Jose; great-granddaughters, Madison and Gwyneth of Albuquerque; brother, Malcolm Majarov of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and grand-niece Georgann Micono and family of Albuquerque. LOFSTROM -- Verna Ruth Lofstrom, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at her home. She was born August 12, 1915 in Altoona, PA, the daughter of the late Gustav Robert Seaberg and Iva Taylor. She graduated from Altoona High School class of 1933 and then earned an Associate degree from the Altoona School of Commerce. Verna married Arnold T. Lofstrom in 1937. She is survived by her three sons, Rod and Joel of Albuquerque and Ivan of Burbank, CA; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Kermit of Altoona, PA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold T. Lofstrom; brothers, Melvin, Ivan, Orvis and Bruce; and a granddaughter. Verna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the Scandinavian Club of Albuquerque. Interment of the cremated remains will take place in Grandview Cemetery in Altoona, PA. MASCARENAS -- Joseph E. Mascarenas passed away peacefully at home on Friday June 6, 2008, after a long illness. He is survived by his children Charlotte Lopez, Joe, Anthony, Freddie Mascarenas and Pat Mascarenas and wife Wanda; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; his sister Virginia Jaramillo. Joseph will be greatly missed by his loving family. Joseph, a Bronze Star Medal recipient, served in the United States Armed Forces in World War II at the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was intensely patriotic all of his life. Joseph had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed gardening, building houses and playing solitaire, as well as attending the post dances. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Daniels Family Funeral Services - Garcia Mortuary, in the 8th Street Chapel. MEYERS -- Mary Louise Hoefer Meyers, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008. Mary was born August 2, 1921 in Marceline, MO. Mary grew up in Salina, KS, where she met her husband, Walt. They were married in Washington, DC, on December 4, 1942. They moved to Los Alamos when Walt was stationed there during the Manhattan Project, and lived there for over 60 years. They moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 1993, and then returned to New Mexico in 2000. Mary was treasured as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed her garden, her church, and cooking for her family. She loved Los Alamos, and her favorite way to spend an afternoon was to have a picnic in the Jemez Mountains. Above all, she loved and cared for her children and grandchildren, and would sacrifice anything for their well-being. She will always be remembered for her loving smile. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard (Dick) Meyers. Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wilbert (Walt) Meyers of Rio Rancho; children, Lynn Perkins of Topeka, KS, Dr. Jim Meyers of Louisville, KY, Bob Meyers of Albuquerque, NM, Carole Steward of Los Alamos, NM, and Janice Meyers of Colorado Springs, CO; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. MILLER -- Lillian S. Albert Miller, 92, passed away on Shavou'ot, June 8, 2008. Having immigrated to America with her family from her hometown of Upina, Lithuania at the age of 15, Lillian lived in Indianapolis, IN until she and her beloved husband, Joseph Albert, moved to Albuquerque in 1959. They immediately joined Congregation B'nai Israel. In 1961 they opened Lillyan's Fashions which they operated until Joseph's death in 1972. In 1977 Lillian married Emeal "Bud" Miller. They loved traveling the world, dancing and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian continued her membership in Congregation B'nai Israel and was an active member of Sisterhood. She was a member of Hadassah, Ort and involved in various Jewish functions and activities. Lillian was preceded in death by her husbands Joseph Albert and Emile "Bud" Miller; her brothers, Arthur Sacks and Jake Sacks; her sisters, Myra Borin, Jeanette Momberg and Miriam Kivel; and her eldest grandson, Mark Strohl. Lillian is survived by her son, Harold Albert and wife, Carole Albert; her daughter Roselyn Strohl; six grandchildren, Haviva Graeber and husband, Dr. David Graeber, Morris Albert, Shara Albert-Fromme and husband, Eric Fromme, William Strohl, Joseph Strohl and wife, Nancy Stallings Strohl, and Barbara Ball and husband, Mark Ball. Lillian is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. NOVY -- Rose Marie (Novotny) Novy Rose passed away June 3, 2008 at the Platte Avera Health center in Platte, SD. At her request, there will be no services. She was born June 5, 1911 on a farm in Palo Pinto County, TX to emigrant parents from the Czech Republic. They moved to Omaha, NE when she was a young girl. Due to her mother's illness, she had to drop out of high school to take care of her. She married Anton Novy and had three children. Due to her health, she had to move to Albuquerque, NM and later to San Bernardino, CA. Due to failing health, she moved in with her daughter and lived in Lompoc, CA and then they moved to South Dakota. She later moved to Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. She was a hard worker all of her life, working as a riveter during WW II, Swift packinghouse and managed the lunch counter at F.W. Woolworth's. She was active in American Legion Auxiliary, FOE, Grandmother's Club, Pocahontas, and WOTM. She was also a cancer survivor. She is survived by daughters, Arlene Novy of Grass Valley, CA and Joan (Francis) Hoverston of Platte, SD; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Anton Novy; parents Frantisek and Josephine (Sip) Novotny; a son; and five brothers.

PENA -- Ralph O. Pena, a resident of Albuquerque, was born June 8, 1931 in San Mateo, NM to Rafael and Rosita Pena. He has passed over to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the age of 77. Ralph was a devoted son to his parents and a devoted husband who enjoyed hunting with his nephews from Gallup. He also enjoyed gardening, reading, telling old stories and jokes. PRENTICE -- Ruth Ann Prentice passed away on June 7, 2008 of Gilbert, Arizona. She was 60 years old. She is survived by her husband, Don Prentice of Gilbert, and a daughter, Melissa Austin of New Mexico. She is also survived by one grandson, James Austin of New Mexico and one granddaughter, Andrea White of Denver, Colorado. RICHARDS -- Billie C. Richards, 86, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2008 at home. She was born Saturday, April 19, 1922 in Hope, NM, the oldest of three children born to Will & Bess Scoggin. Billie married H. Scott Richards in Roswell, NM on June 15, 1943. She moved to Portales, NM where she lived while her husband served overseas during the Second World War. Billie attended Eastern New Mexico University for two years before the family moved to Albuquerque, NM. She worked as a secretary for the Audio Visual Department of the Albuquerque Public Schools. After retirement, she and her husband were both volunteers at Presbyterian Hospital where she donated 6,025 hours. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Richards who passed away in 2003, and her brother, Robert Scoggin. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Bonham and husband, Gordon of Baltimore, MD, and a son, Donald Scott Richards of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Scott Bonham and wife, Noemi of Bowling Green, KY, Cathy (Bonham) Zeisler and husband, Todd of Pittsburgh, PA, Kyle Richards and wife, Melissa of Hartford, WI and Michael Bonham of Pittsburgh, PA; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Will, and Karen Zeisler, Alexander, Jason, and Tyler Richards, and Raquel and Caleb Bonham; a sister, Rachel Collins and husband, Sidney who live in Tucumcari, NM. SAIZ -- Ruben Leroy Saiz was born March 1, 1955 in Albuquerque, NM. He passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 at the age of 53. Ruben was loved by all and will be truly missed. May he rest in peace and may God bless him. Ruben was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ricardo and Teresita Madrid; his loving mother, Barbara G. Madrid; uncles, Bonifacio Madrid and Jose Armijol; and his beloved sister, Eva Mary Saiz. He is survived by his longtime companion, Agnes Lopez; his sisters, Emily Garcia Madrid and husband Tivo, Priscilla Sanchez and her late husband Lorenzo; his brother, Steven Garcia; his daughter, Christina Saiz; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. TRACE -- Carol McCully Trace, 71, died peacefully on May 31, 2008. She was a life long resident of Albuquerque. Her class was the first to graduate from Valley High School in 1955. TUTTLE -- Steffan Terry Albuquerque, NM, Steffan Tuttle, 21, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 from complications of a seizure. He was born March 18, 1987, American Fork, UT to Russell Terry and Barbara Kay Kunzler Tuttle. Steffan loved all sports and played wheelchair basketball. He was more concerned about everybody else than himself and was a kind, loving, extremely special person. He touched everyone's life who came in contact with him, giving much more than he took. VILLANUEVA -- Rebecca M. Villanueva, age 79, a resident of Bosque, NM, passed away unexpectedly at an Albuquerque hospital on Saturday, June 7, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank O. Villanueva; her brother, Antonio Montoya, and daughter-in-law, Carol. She is survived by one daughter, Gloria and her husband, Macario Mendez; three sons, Frank Villanueva Jr., Freddie Villanueva and his wife, Erlinga, and Lawrence Villanueva; six grandchildren, Jennifer Villanueva, Roseann Peralta, Becky Villanueva, Jake Villanueva, Matthew Villanueva and Jo Villanueva; two great-grandchildren, Nicole Peralta and Matthew Villanueva Jr. and many friends and neighbors. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. WILKINSON -- Alice Janet Barre Wilkinson left this earth Sunday, June 8, 2008 as a result of Cardiac Arrest. She was born on December 28, 1915 in Norwalk, OH where she lived until moving to Albuquerque in late 1949. On October 4, 1935 she was married to David Morrow Wilkinson who died in 1995 after a marriage of 60 years. Other than her husband Dave, Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Fern Barre; son, David Michael Wilkinson; brother and sister-in-law, John and Martha Barre; infant sister, Viola; infant grandson, John; great-grandson, Jordan; and nephew, Daniel. Janet is survived by her son, J. Mark Wilkinson; daughter, Barbara Wilkinson; grandson, Jeffrey Wilkinson, three granddaughters, Rebecca Copeland, Barra Franklin and husband, Paul, Dr. Janel Doll and husband, Rev. Adrian Doll; Georgalyn Browne Wilkinson, widow of David Michael Wilkinson; six great-grandsons, Shane and Jacob Franklin, Brandon and Christopher Copeland, Alex Wilkinson and David Doll; two great-granddaughters, Sarah Copeland and Claire Doll; nephew, Timothy Barre and wife, Evelyn; great-nephew, Danny Barre; and two great-great nephews. She was a member of Grace Church for over 50 years. Janet's request is that she be remembered as one who loved her family, her Lord, her "church family", her many friends and that those attending the memorial service will come in a spirit of rejoicing that another child of God is now with Him.
