ALLEYNE -- Mavis Alexander Alleyne, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mavis was a dedicated wife, loving mother, beloved sister, and friend. She was born May 30, 1930 the daughter of Richard and Ann Alexander in Trinidad, West Indies. She was a woman of integrity and fairness. Mavis was loved and respected by everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, especially by her family. Mavis was well educated and highly ambitious throughout her career. Her keen sense of propriety directed all aspects of her professional and personal life. Mavis lived her allotted 77 years with style, curiosity, compassion, and wide ranging interest. Her sincere interest in others constantly drew more friends to her so they could bask in her warmth, compassion and graciousness. She never left a letter unanswered or a thank you note unwritten. She was intently interested in the everyday occurrences in the lives of her family and friends. As well as being active in various community organizations, she was a prayerful woman with love for others, self sacrifice, and commitment for pleasing her Lord Jesus Christ. Mavis is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gene Alleyne; daughter, Jennifer Alleyne; sisters, Edith Fraser, Grace Judge, June Felix, Una Assam, and Judy Alexander; brothers, Clive Earlyn, Carlton, and Andy Alexander; and many precious nieces and nephews. Mavis will be greatly missed and forever loved. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Rio Rancho Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1351 19th Avenue, Rio Rancho. Interment will take place on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. APODACA -- Manuel Apodaca Sr., 88, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 11, 2008. Mr. Apodaca is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Margie; his children, Manuel Dominic Apodaca Jr. and wife, Mary Lou, Evelyn Garley and husband, Dennis, Steven M. (Toni Annette) Apodaca; four grandchildren, Denise Ruiz and husband, Leonard, Raquel Esser and husband, Lance, Brian Garley and wife, Alicia, Tammy Lynn Apodaca; four great-grandchildren, Logan Esser, Tanner Esser, Tyler Ruiz, Leia Ruiz; nephews, Morris Acuna and Ernest Acuna; several extended family members and friends. Mr. Apodaca was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Toni Annette Apodaca. Mr. Apodaca was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during W.W. II, a member of the American Legion Post 100, life member of D.A.V., was retired from Kirtland Air Force Base Commissary and was involved with San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Mr. Apodaca was very proud to have brought, Boy Scout Troop #1 back to Albuquerque, he was a Scout Master and a Golden Gloves Contender. BESERRA -- Jennie S. Beserra, 79, a resident of Albuquerque passed away May 9, 2008. Mrs. Beserra is survived by her children, Victor Beserra and wife, Diane, and Carmelita Beserra-Dedig and husband Bob; two sisters, Beatrice Beserra and Connie Padilla; four grandchildren, Adam Beserra, Victoria Beserra, Shane Dedig, and Samuel Dedig; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Manuel Beserra; sister, Nena Apodaca; brothers, Gilbert Sandoval and Rudy Sandoval; special companion, Ernie Olague. Mrs. Beserra was a member of the Catholic Church, a Women's Auxiliary Member of Post 99, volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital for twenty years, and taught catechism at San Ignacio Catholic Church for many years. CABBAGE -- George L. Cabbage, age 72, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, May 10, 2008. George was well-known for more than 30 years as an insurance adjuster with General Motors. After retirement from GM, he worked for Crawford and Co. GARCIA -- Esther B. Garcia passed away Thursday May 8, 2008. She was born in Littlefield, Texas in a covered wagon train coming from Ft. Sumner, New Mexico to parts of Texas. Her family later returned to Ft Sumner where she was raised. She is survived by daughter, Lorella " Gloria" Lopez and husband Andy, grandchildren Andy Lopez, Laura Schroeder, Gloria Calderwood and Jeremiah Lopez, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass will be celebrated this morning, May 13, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30am. GREENWOLL -- Nancy K. Greenwoll, a native of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008, after a brief illness. Nancy was born on October 15, 1963 and graduated from Manzano High School. Nancy is survived by her parents, Donald and Helen Greenwoll; sisters Laura Wyse and Jody Greenwoll; uncle James Greenwoll; nieces Tracey and Jenine Wyse; nephew Dean Wyse, all of Albuquerque; uncle and aunt, Robert and Nancy Ferguson and family of Colorado. HOEKE -- Barbara A. Hoeke, beloved wife for 56 years of Fredrick E. Hoeke, Jr. went home to her Lord Friday, May 9, 2008. She was born August 12, 1931 in the Queen of Angels Hospital, LA, CA to her deceased parents Kenneth and Geneva Brewster. She spent her early years in Hollywood, CA and later on the family moved to Burbank, CA. She is survived by her brother Richard E. Brewster who resides in Burbank, CA; her children Fredrick E. Hoeke, III who lives in Los Lunas, NM, her daughter Lisa M. Hamlin who resides in Castaic, CA and Kurt M. Hoeke who lives in Basalt, CO; granddaughter Kendra Hoeke also of Basalt, CO. She attended LA City College and was later on employed at the Lockheed Aircraft Co. in Burbank and worked in the technology distribution center that supplied the engineering staff with requested design information. Barbara met her future husband in 1950 while employed at Lockheed. They were subsequently married on June 22, 1952 in Las Vegas, NV. She resided in Albuquerque, NM with her husband and children since February 1972. She died of a long standing illness. Her Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church, 1750 Faith Ct, NE. JARAMILLO -- Conception Jaramillo December 8, 1914 - May 11, 2008 Conception Jaramillo, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on May 11, 2008. Mrs. Jaramillo was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Betsy Guzman; daughter, Angelita Jaramillo, and her husband of 60 years, Sabino Jaramillo. Mrs. Jaramillo is survived by her children, Jerry Jaramillo and Isabel Guzman both of Albuquerque; two beautiful grandchildren Rhonda Guzman of Grants, NM and Joe Guzman of Albuquerque; eight great-grandchildren; sister Toni Gutierrez; many nephews and nieces; and her special friends and compadres Lee and Irene Romero. Many heartfelt thanks to her primary physician, Dr. James Houle, who cared for her for many years and her nurse, Denise Tesillo; and Carmen Pacheco who cared for Mrs. Jaramillo in her home for many years. JARAMILLO -- Tomasita Jaramillo, age 88 went home to be with Our Lord on May 10, 2008 surrounded by her loving family, who gave her love, compassion and care during her final days. She was the first of five generations; she was born and raised in Sedillo, NM. Survived by her sons; Alex Sr. and wife Nancy, Bobby and wife Cora, and Jerry Jaramillo; daughters: Chris E. Crutiza Christy, Wilma Garcia and husband Thomas Sr., Alma Jaramillo, Rita Brown and husband Roy, Geneva Brown and husband Johnny, Marylin Garcia and husband Carlos, and Christine Jaramillo and fiancee Steve Sanchez; daughters-in-law: Sally Jaramillo, and Georgeanna Perez and son-in-law Bobby Otero, 29 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and 12 God children; niece Veronica Caldwell. Tomasita also leaves behind numerous other loving family members and friends who love and will miss her dearly. Tomasita was preceded in death by her husband Felix Jaramillo and many other beloved family members. Tomasita was a member of the San Isidro Holy Catholic Parish. She served as Mayordoma during 1990-1991. Tomasita continually dedicated her life as housewife and homemaker raising all their children. She also assisted her Mother, Susanna Jaramillo with her Midwife, and Partera-Homeopathic practices. She also assisted in maintaining the one-room school house in Sedillo, NM during her school days. She assisted in building the community church, San Isidro Parish. She participated in the Senior Citizen Centers and worked during the election polls for many years. A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at San Isidro Holy Catholic Parish in Sedillo, NM. LUCERO -- Erlinda Lucero, 79, of Albuquerque, passed away May 10, 2008. She was born March 19, 1929 in Albuquerque to the late Leopoldo and Maria Chavez. She married Joe Nabor Lucero on April 9, 1949. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2007. Erlinda is also preceded in death by a son, Perfilio B. Lucero in 2002; a sister, Flora Chavez and a brother, Arthur Chavez; Survivors include her children, Joanna Vigil, Michael Lucero, Philip Lucero and his wife Eileen, Linda Caskey and her husband Bill; Patrick Lucero; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Chavez and Benny Chavez; two sisters, Libby Griego and Sally Barillas and numerous other relatives and friends. Erlinda was very proud, generous and hard-working. She was always selfless. She was devoted to her children and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. LUJAN -- Anthony Manuel Lujan, 45, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord, Saturday May 10, 2008. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Lujan of Albuquerque; children Agripina Neubauer and husband Christopher, of Rio Rancho, Antoinette Lujan of Albuquerque, Anthony "Anton" Lujan Jr. of Riverside, RI, and Tomas Lujan of Jemez, NM; grandson Solomon Neubauer of Rio Rancho; siblings Theresa Lujan of Albuquerque, Phil Lujan of Albuquerque, Lori Gomez and husband Raymond of Albuquerque, Veronica Ewell and husband Lyn of Albuquerque, Dennis Lujan and wife Jenara of Rio Rancho; and a large, extended family and many friends. Mr. Lujan was preceded in death by his father, Phil Lujan. Anthony worked for over 20 years for the City of Albuquerque. He loved riding his Harley. MARQUEZ -- Michelle "Shelley" Marquez, 38, died suddenly Friday, May 9, 2008. She is survived by her parents, Gabriel and Emily Marquez; sister, Paula Armijo and husband, Mike; niece, Monette Vezelici; nephews, Marcus, Dominic, Robert and Adan Armijo; great nieces and nephews, Gabriel, Estevan, Shania, Ashley and Alexandria; as well as many other family and friends. Shelley was preceded in death by her brothers, Louie and Gabriel Jr. Shelley graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1989. She enjoyed music and dancing and loved playing bingo. MARTINEZ -- Lenore R. (Grams/Nana) Martinez, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2008 with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gilbert G. Martinez, Jr. in August of 2000, her grandson, Jeffrey James Wells in January of 1967, and her parents, Acianita and Jose Ynez Romero. She was one of 10 children. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Martinez-Newton and husband, Kent Newton, and Sandy Martinez-Pino; her beloved grandchildren, Gary Alan Wells, Alexis Pino-Gonzalez and husband, Scott and Angela Lenore Pino; great-grandchildren, James Tyler Wells, Dominique Everett, Lexi Gonzalez, Ciara J. Pino and Yarelis Dedos-Pino; two sisters, Cora R. Vigil of Santa Fe, and Frances Baca of Alhambra, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Lenore was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and will be remembered as a giving, loving person with a kind soul. MCCONNELL -- Sharon Ann McConnell passed into her eternal rest on Friday, May 9, 2008. She was born March 28, 1943, in Oklahoma City, OK to Clarence and Mildred Dulaney.. She attended Norman High School, but graduated from Pompey High in Pompey New York, where she was living with her sister, Betty Lowe. Shortly after graduation, she returned to Oklahoma. She joined the Oklahoma city Chapter of Sweet Adelines where she met her husband, Rick McConnell. They were married in Norman, Oklahoma. Rick preceded her in death on October 1, 1982. Sharon sang with the award- winning Oklahoma City Chapter of Sweet Adelines from 1978 through 1985. She sang bass in a quartet that took several contests. She traveled to Hawaii and London for competitions. From 1998 to 1983, she attended Oscar Rose University in Midwest City, Oklahoma and played the Mayors wife in "Music Man". Her major was in vocal music. She finished her degree at Central State University in Edmond, Oklalhoma. After her husband's death, she moved to Colorado to live with her sister, Dana, and moved to Albuquerque with Dana after the death of Dana's husband. She worked for Park View Baptist Church as Secretary to the pastor until the Church sold their Building. At that time she retired, and joined Sandia Baptist Church. She is well-remembered by the members for her card ministry. She was very faithful to send birthday cards, anniversary cards, and get well cards to all the members. She had a great gift of encouraging people. She very often sent cards to tell one of the soloist how moved she was at their song, or to the pastor saying how the message moved her. Her presence will be missed. Sharon is survived by one son, Kevin Eric Ross, currently of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Betty Jean Lowe of Sytacuse, NY, Dana Skeel of Albuquerque, NM; two brothers, Clarence L. Dulaney of Missouri City, TX, and Patrick L. Dulaney of Denver, CO; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson of Lawton, Oklahoma. PEREA -- Clarence Perea, age 73, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, was called home by God, Saturday, May 10, 2008, after a long courageous battle with diabetes. Clarence was born in Peralta, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque; and a Businessman most of his life, he found his success and joy in being good to his customers and friends. He will be fondly remembered by his family as a very generous and caring man. Clarence served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of several Veteran's Groups. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donaciano and Carmen Perea originally of Peralta, NM; his wife Sara Ashe Perea; his siblings, Dan, Lillie, Rosa Perea, and Frances Perea Roybal. Clarence is survived by his four loving sons, whom he was very proud of, Chris and wife Maureen, Rick and wife Idella, Paul and wife Fran, and Ernie; his precious grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Tanya Nespolo and husband Denny, Kristina Perea, Patrick Perea, Nicole and Shelby Perea, Heath, Brian, Christin and Erick Perea, Elijah and Ethan Perea; two great-grandsons, Ian and Matteo Nespolo. He is also survived by his siblings, Joe Perea of Peralta, NM, Prudencia Mondragon and husband Ramon, Palmira Perea-Hay and husband Steve, Beatrice Aragon and husband Antonio, all of Albuquerque; one sister-in-law, Nellie Perea also of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Clarence will be greatly and dearly missed by all. Visitations will be today (Tuesday, May 13, 2008) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd., NE. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. THOMPSON -- Braxton Scoville passed away in Albuquerque on May 10, 2008. Braxton was born in Los Angeles on June 19, 1917. He attended Exeter and Yale ('39), leaving college to prepare for the coming war. He joined the Army Air Force and served as a flight instructor in Harlingen, Texas and as a bomber pilot in Europe. While in Harlingen in 1943, he met his wife-to-be, Marjorie "Sandy" Sanford. The couple married on August 10 1944. After the war they moved to Houston, Texas, where Braxton worked in real estate. Over the years he bought and sold steel buildings, farm and ranch properties, and mortgage notes. He was an avid hunter and aviator and a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Bonanza Society and the Rotary Club. He and Sandy retired to Albuquerque in 2006. He is survived by their children, Sanford Thompson of Everett, Washington, Linsley Denning of Albuquerque, and Carter Thompson of Irving, Texas, and their grandchildren Arianne, Jay, Charles and Allison.

THOMPSON -- Marjorie ("Sandy") Sanford passed away in Albuquerque on May 10, 2008. Sandy was born Marjorie Sanford in Peoria, Illinois on February 18, 1915. She worked as a school teacher and joined the Army during World War II as a member of the WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots), flying a B-26 Marauder bomber and towing targets for student fighter pilots. She met her husband-to-be, Braxton Thompson, at Harlingen Field in 1943 and they married on August 10 1944. After the war they moved to Houston, Texas, where Sandy worked with the Junior League as a docent at the Museum of Fine Arts, rising to the position of docent director, and at the Bayou Bend Museum, former residence of Texas governor, Jim Hogg. She and Braxton retired to Albuquerque in 2006. She is survived by their children, Sanford Thompson of Everett, Washington, Linsley Denning of Albuquerque, and Carter Thompson of Irving, Texas, and their grandchildren Arianne, Jay, Charles and Allison.

TRUJILLO -- Longinos Castulo "LC" Trujillo, 79, of Chimayo NM, was taken by Our Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2008. He passed peacefully at his Albuquerque home of 59 years from aggressive lung cancer; having never smoked in his life. "LC" was born on July 1, 1929, of Julian and Catalina Trujillo of Chimayo NM. He was the youngest and last surviving sibling of 13 brothers and sisters. He was a 30 year retiree from the NM National Guard, a 30 year retiree from Sandia National Labs, a lifelong member of Los Penitentes (Los Hermanos) of Chimayo, and most recently, worked at the Kirkland AFB Commissary. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Oralia, and their 5 sons; Wayne & Diane Trujillo of Virginia, and Stephen, Jeffrey, Longinos Jerry Jr, and Mark Trujillo, of Albuquerque. LC is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Carlos. LC is remembered as a selfless husband, father, and friend; someone who made everyone "feel good". Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 14, 2008 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Carlisle Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm also in the chapel. ZIERER -- John Paul Zierer, 84, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 6, 2008, at the family home. John went to eternal love and peace. He joins his mother and father, brothers and sisters, and his beloved sons, Gregory and Johnny. John is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Consuelo; sons Mark and Daniel, by Mark's wife Desiree and Daniel's wife Teri, by his step granddaughter Beatrix Otwell, and by one brother Luke, 89, and by many nieces and nephews in Alabama and in North Carolina. John was born October 3, 1923 at St. Florian, Alabama. He attended Catholic school and served as an altar boy. John graduated from Albuquerque High School with enough credits to start UNM as a junior. He was an expert gardener and loved growing vegetables and flowers and his famous Christmas trees. John served in the Merchant Marines at the end of World War II, transferred to the Army for one year, and then served in the Air Force until his retirement in 1973. He served in Korea and Vietnam, Italy, Greece, Turkey and many other countries. John's family joined him in England, Okinawa and Spain. He retired with 20 years service from the Department of Energy. John and his wife served as Sacristans and Eucharistic ministers at Risen Savior Catholic Community. John attained 3rd and 4th degree with the Knights of Columbus.. He loved his family and his church. He will be remembered as a man of great integrity and honesty. Rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services on Wyoming, on Friday, May 16, 2008. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:00a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd, NE, on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
