Louie R. Guardiola, 37, left his family and friends on April 4, 2008, unexpectedly. He was born in Albuquerque, NM December 11, 1969. Son of Gilberto and Maria, brother of Theresa. Louie is survived by his loving daughter, Leandra; two sons, Estavan and Angelo; one granddaughter, Valerissa; two nieces, Valerie and Vanessa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was a truck driver for 15 years who loved the open road. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 2:00 -4:30 p.m. and 6:00 -7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary. A second viewing will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. followed by Services at Riverside Funeral Home on 225 San Mateo Blvd, NE.

Loretta Maria Spohr Bell. Loretta was born April 12, 1912 in Berthoud, CO to Richard & Esther Edmundson Spohr, one of seven siblings. She graduated from high school in Raton, NM in 1930, and from nurse's training at Bethel Hospital in Colorado Springs in 1933 and served as a nurse in Albuquerque for 45 years. She married William Maxwell Bell in 1933. They had two daughters, Helen Katherine and Carol Elizabeth (Betty). They were living in Albuquerque, NM when Bill passed away in 1946. Loretta met and married Louis J. Hendryx in 1948. They had a wealth of love, family and friends who blessed their, (almost) 50 years of marriage. Lou preceded her in death in 1998. On January 25, 2008 Loretta slept peacefully as she passed away. She went to greet her siblings, Dick, Turk & Bette and her granddaughter, Anita Moore & great- grandson, Greg Matthews. She is survived by her children, Helen (Merritt) Sherer, Denver and Betty Wright, Colorado Springs; her grandchildren, Matthew (April) Sherer, Arvada, CO; Peggy (Wayne) Matthews, Coon Rapids, MN and Judi (Carl) Rinkenberger, Albuquerque; nine great- grandchildren; and five great- great- grandchildren; her siblings Sam (Louise) Spohr, Albuquerque, Harold (Leona) Spohr, Woodburn, OR, Carol McMeen, Webb City, MO; sister- in-law, Lorene Spohr, Rio Verde, AZ and numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Memorial Services will be held on April 19, 2008, 10:30 A.M. at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, NM. HOOK --
James William Hook, Jr., 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Sunday, April 6, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen Compton Hook; one daughter; two sons; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one stepson; two stepdaughters; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great- grandchildren. Mr. Hook was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on May 30, 1912 but lived in New York state and Connecticut from 1916 to 1948. After graduating from the Taft School in 1930 and Yale University in 1934, he worked with the J. Walter Thompson Company advertising agency in New York City prior to his duty in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. In 1948 he moved to Albuquerque and worked at Sandia Laboratories for 24 years. Mr. Hook was Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board during the 60's and was a member of Alpha Delta Phi, the Society of Colonial Wars, and Mensa. LAVANDOSKI --
Theresa L. Lavandoski, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 6, 2008. She was a resident of Albuquerque for over 60 years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Theresa is survived by her two sons, Robert and his wife, Terry and Joseph; four grandsons, David, Steven, Ron and Tom; granddaughter, Jana Benton; great-grandsons, Collin and Nolan Henton; her sisters, Lillian Lyko and Alice Keck; and brother, Edward Koziol. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, daughter, Carolyn and granddaughter, Krista. Theresa lived her life with integrity and generosity. She was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, opening her heart and home to everyone. she helped raise and care for not only her own children, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, determined spirit, and dedication to her family. She will be sorely missed. Services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Teresa Anne Marcelli went to be with the Lord at sunrise on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was the beloved daughter of Frank and Ernestine Marcelli; loving mother of Antonio Archuleta and Ricardo (Rico) Bustos; caring sister of Rosemarie Nelson, Mariana and Walt Mestas, Tina and Ed Sanchez, Frank and Kathy Marcelli, John and Lisa Marcelli and Stephanie and Armand Giannini. She was a wonderful aunt to her 17 nephews and nieces. Teresa was born on February 23, 1956 and was a 1974 graduate of Valley High School. She was a generous and loving sister and friend. She loved Jesus and shared that love freely and with much enthusiasm. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town, 800 Rio Grande Blvd. NW (formerly the Old Town Sheraton). MERRILL --
Louise Merrill, age 87, of Albuquerque and formerly of Tulsa, OK, died on April 5, 2008. She was born in Rector, AR on December 26, 1920 to the late Frank and Carrie (Arment) Barker. She was a bookkeeper for over a decade at her church in Tulsa, where she also sang in the choir every Sunday. Louise was a master gardener and a wonderful provider for her children. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Merrill, of Corrales; grandchildren, Issa Abraham and Amanda Merrill; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, James, on November 23, 2005. Services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodland Heights Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Paul. Andrew J. Negri, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 17 years, died Sunday, April 6, 2008. He is survived by his daughters, Andrea Noonoo and husband, Ronald, Michelle Negri, Cassandra Ferguson, and Melissa DeMarco and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Benjamin, Rebecca, Maria, and Joey. Mr. Negri was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Negri. Andrew served in the US Navy during World War II. Bertha Rose Politi, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 2003, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 after a short illness. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Figg, Theresa Gosselin, both of Albuquerque, Barbara Baiano and husband, John, of Staten Island, NY, and Juan Ferre of Cuba; eight grandchildren, Juliann Gosselin Higgins, John Baiano, Jr., Michelle Baiano, and Tara Mae Baiano and three loving grandsons, sons of Juan; two great- grandchildren, Ashley Taylor Higgins and Melanie Grace Gosselin; loving niece, Maria Sclafani of Staten Island; and other relatives and friends. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Politi; grandson, Michael Kelly; the father of her children, John Ferre; two sisters; and one brother. She was born on February 14, 1921 in Havana, Cuba to Alberto and Maria Valdez. Bertha moved to the United States at the age of 22 and settled in Brooklyn, NY. She spoke very little English but with the help of the Jewish Community in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY she learned English very fluently. Their love and care for her caused her to love her Jewish heritage. After her marriage to Matthew Politi in 1970, they moved to Boco Raton, FL where she remained until moving to Albuquerque to be nearer to her daughters who would care for her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rosalind "Roz" Z. Rock, PhD, age 64, of San Antonio, TX, passed away on April 3, 2008.
