GURULE -- Merlinda Gurule was born April 17, 1916, in Alameda, New Mexico. She passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Alameda, New Mexico at her home. Merlinda was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Crescenciano Gurule; parents, Jose Saiz and Beatriz Gurule; daughter, Frances Sanchez; grandsons, Michael Aragon, Lawrence, and Richard Garcia; sons-in-law, Roger Aragon and Adrian Garcia. Merlinda is survived by her six children, Sylvia Garcia, Alfonso Gurule and wife, Juanita, Beatrice Aragon, Florence Archibeque and husband, Joe, Sadie Whitaker and husband, John, and Esther Basham; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church at 4th and Alameda NW. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Carlos Cemetery east of the Church on Alameda and Horizon NW. Pallbearers will be John Gurule, Rudy Garcia, Joseph Archibeque, Christina Whitaker, Louis Garcia, Esther Basham, and Mike Aragon II. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Archibeque, John Whitaker, Ron Coon, and Henry Sanchez. The family would like to thank Heritage Hospice for their care and concern for Merlinda. ATWOOD -- Jerry Atwood, age 75, of Albuquerque, died peacefully in his sleep after a long illness, Saturday, April 5, 2008. Jerry spent most of his life in the automobile business. After retirement, he worked in loss-prevention with Wal-Mart.
