BYGEL -- HARRY W. "BUD" JR. Thank you all for your kind words and best wishes during the recent loss of our beloved mother, Jo Rene Cameron Bygel, who passed away on October 9, 2007. It is with great sadness that we inform everyone of our father's passing. Harry W. "Bud" Bygel, Jr. passed away November 11, 2007. He went into a deep state of depression after our mother passed suddenly of a heart attack. The doctors seem to think he just died of a broken heart. After a short stay at home with people taking excellent care of his needs on a daily basis. . . and a very short stay at a wonderful hospice facility in Albuquerque, he passed away quietly and went to be with the love of his life and our Lord. Bud and Jo Rene loved each other very much and were together for almost 54 years. They are survived by their three daughters: Wyndell of Albuquerque, NM, Camelou B. Cavalier of Albuquerque, NM, and Vancellen Ravensberg of Florence, CO. They are also survived by two grandchildren: Jennifer Sturgeon and Jonathan Cavalier, both of Albuquerque, NM. "Bud" was born March 12, 1930 in St. Louis, MO. He spent much of his early life in Denver, CO. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1948. Bud joined the Air Force in 1951 and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. He was also a member of the Air National Guard in New Mexico for several years. Bud joined his father, Harry Bygel, in the family business; Bygel GMC in Albuquerque, NM. He became the Gallup, NM freight terminal manager for ICX Freight Lines in 1957 and was with them until they closed their doors in 1984. Bud and Jo Rene spent their life in Gallup, NM. They had many friends through the teaching staff at Kennedy Jr., Gallup High Schools, the Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and Lions Club. Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved fixing up cars, tinkering with jewelry making and painting. We know they are together in Heaven enjoying their new Heavenly bodies. No more pain, sickness, hunger, anger or politics to worry over. . . just love for each other and the Lord and all His Glory. Both Bud and Jo Rene were cremated and a private service will be held.

HARRIGER -- Helen Irene Lutz Harriger December 14, 1907 - January 12, 2008 "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." Helen took this as her personal philosophy. This Shirley Chisholm quote was how Helen lived her 100 years and one month, how she thought about her world and believed in these sentiments to the end. Helen Irene Lutz Harriger was born in Magadore, Ohio on December 14, 1907 to Harvey S. Lutz and Rose Norrish Lutz. Helen began her life as a country girl being schooled in a one room school house. She was motivated by a strong sense of independence and work ethic. She was transplanted to Cleveland when she was eight and began to become "citified." After high school, Helen refused a scholarship to college, instead opting to "earn her own way" through. She graduated from Hiram College with a BA in Sociology in 1929. She was the last living member of her graduating class. She married Harold A. "Hap" Harriger after he agreed he would also finish college. They both were Executive Secretaries for the YMCA in Cleveland. In 1947 they moved to Raton, NM where Hap was the Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Helen found a "part time" job as a teacher. This part-time job became Helen's passion, lasting the next 37 years of her life. They moved briefly to Moberly, MO, but the lure of the Land of Enchantment was too strong and they moved to Albuquerque in 1951 where Helen taught and Hap worked as the first Child Labor Inspector for the state. Together, they were part of the founding members of the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church. Helen taught at La Luz, Five Points and Inez Elementary Schools. She got her MA from UNM and was very active in Classroom Teachers and NEA New Mexico, Phi Delta Kappa, and Pi Lambda Theta. Helen was named NEA NM Teacher of the year in 1973 and was elected President of NEA NM and also president of the UNM chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, among other achievements. Helen stayed in the classroom to the age of 76, and she continued to visit classrooms and tell stories to children well into her 90's. Helen lived an amazing life in her 100 years. In 1963 she was chosen to be a member of the Teach Corps and taught teachers in Africa: two summers in Sierra Leone, two in Kenya, and then one in Kathmandu, Nepal. This started her love for traveling the world. Helen did not go overseas until she was 55 years old. She was an inspiration who demonstrated that life is full at any age. Despite her late start as a world traveler she visited every continent in the world with the exception of Antarctica. She was among the first educators to visit China and returned numerous times with various family members. She was a delegate to the World Conference of Teaching Professionals and attended their meetings around the world. She was selected for national awards such as the NEA Irvamae Applegate Award For International Understanding and the Phi Delta Kappa Ivy Payne Humanitarian Award. She was loved and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed. Helen lived up to the opening quote and her service earned a really big room on this earth. Helen saw incredible changes in her 100 years. Her family celebrated with a Christmas tree before the tradition was widely practiced in the United States. She lived through two world wars and the depression. She witnessed the advent of "new technology" such as radios, television, airplanes, and mimeograph machines. She witnessed the technological explosion of computers and cell phones. Helen and Hap were married 59 years till his death in 1992. Helen is survived by her two daughters, Ruthe Duquette and husband Duke, Nora Romero Smeltzer; five grandchildren, Andrea Duquette McCrae and husband, Chuckey, Kristen Duquette-LeFevre, Jennifer Romero Jewell, Geoffrey R. Romero Esq., and Stephanie N. Romero. Helen also had 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren are on the way. Besides the legacy of her family, Helen leaves behind thousands of students, here and overseas, whose young minds and values were shaped and influenced by their "favorite teacher." You cannot fully measure the positive impact upon the world caused by Helen's life. A Memorial Service celebrating Helen's life will be held at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church on February 16, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. This date allows out-of-state friends and family members the opportunity to attend. In lieu of cards and flowers please send donations to either Sombra del Monte Christian Church, 2525 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 or Oprah's Angel Network, (earmarked for African education), P.O. Box 96600, Chicago, IL. 60693.

She attended local elementary and junior high schools and was a 1984 graduate of Sandia High School. She always appreciated the little things in life - the things that many of us take for granted. She loved walking in the rain, feeding the birds, the way her dogs would stare at her when they wanted to go for a walk, and just sitting outside on a nice day listening to music and writing her poetry. She had such a magical aura radiating from her at all times. We will truly miss her and are thankful that love lives on forever in Heaven and in our hearts. Natalie is survived by her mother, Elaine Carter and husband, Sam; father, Frank L. Martin and wife, Linda; brother, Anthony (Tony) Martin (son, Sean); brother, Jerel K. Likewise, he was very fond of traveling to historical and geographical landmarks throughout the western United States. Each year he assisted low income, disabled and elderly people with their tax returns. In 1988 he was recognized by the Governor of New Mexico as an 'Exceptional Volunteer.' In 1975, he married Mary Kageorge. They had an instant family, as she already had 5 children. The two were married for 23 years until her death ten years ago. Through his marriage and an adoption, his family grew to include Kenton Walton; William, Rebecca, Jason and Edward Kageorge; Stephen, Marjory, Joshua, James, and Jonathon Stanek; Bruce, Anne, and Nicole Kageorge; Pat (deceased) and Beth Barlow; and John, Kiran, Jasmine, Rajan, and Jaia Kageorge. Bruce is also survived by two cousins in Washington State, Edwin Berg (Seattle) and Barbara Komm (Omak). A Service will be held on at 9:00 a.m. on February 30, 2008 at St Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School NE, Albuquerque.

WELLS -- Jackie Wells (Lawton) died at 2:20 p.m. on January 23, 2008, at her home in Albuquerque, surrounded by family and close friends. Jackie is survived by her devoted and loving husband, her true love, Dan; her daughters, Courtney Lawton and her partner, Kathie Dejea, of Albuquerque, and Kellen Lignier, of Morey St. Denis, France; her grandchildren, Lucie and Auguste Lignier and Henry, Joseph, and Abigail Bettinger; her brother, Murray Keeler and his wife, Judy of Animas, New Mexico; her sister, Madeleine Frossard and her husband, Ted of Dallas, Texas; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Shelly, April, Anna, Brandy, Amanda, Cindy, Whitney, Beau, Randy, and Erin. Jackie was born on May 19, 1944, the daughter of Hugh and Beth Keeler, in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Burgess High School, and later from Hotel-Dieu Nursing School. In 1976, she moved with her daughters to Albuquerque and established her career as an accomplished nurse. She worked for over 20 years at University of New Mexico Hospital, first as an operating-room nurse, then as a plastic surgery specialty nurse, then in the trauma-surgical intensive care unit, and finally in hospice. Jackie was an accomplished artist and gardener, and surrounded herself with wonderful craftspeople and visionaries. She loved traveling, and especially enjoyed South and Central America and France. She was conversant in Spanish and French. A strong woman, she raised her daughters to be strong, self-assured women, too, and she loved Coco and Kellen fiercely. She succumbed to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, and had bitterly mourned the loss of her arms and legs because she was no longer able to do what she so enjoyed: traveling, gardening, and creating art. Memorial Services are pending, and in lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by making a donation to Medecins sans Frontieres (doctorswithoutborders.org).
