ADAMS -- JEFFERY WAYNE Local producer, Jeffery Wayne Adams (Quincy) passed away quietly on December 31, 2007 after taking ill a few months ago. He played an instrumental role in the development of projects in all genres and styles for local musicians as well as many national acts. An accomplished player in his own right, he helped many of his clients to further their music as if it were his own. Quincy will be missed, and the loss will reverberate across the nation for years to come.

CARTER -- Betty D. Carter, 76, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Although she is now in God's hands she will always live on in our hearts. Betty was born on Tuesday, March 11, 1931 in Clay Center, KS to Samuel Martin Goldstein and Ella Mae (Kellog) Goldstein who both preceded her in death. Betty is also predeceased by her step-father, Calvin D. Kimbrough; second husband, Jack Carter; and infant son, Greg. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Dyan Wilson and husband, Tom, and Cheryl Anderson and husband, Tom; granddaughter, Jacquelyn Wilson Jones and her fiance, Michael Sovey; great-grandchildren, Justyn and Paityn Jones, and Makayla Sovey; grandson, Dr. Zac Wilson and Mandy; granddaughters, Randi Lynne and Kasey Leigh Ulibarri; brother, Mike Kellog; niece, Debbie Rigdon; nephews, Neal Kellog, and Shawn Rigdon and several cousins. Also surviving Betty, the love of her life and good friend, her first husband, Charles "Chuck" Baca. Her family appreciates the gracious care she received from the staff of Vista Care Hospice. She was a very loving and generous mom, grandma, great-grandma, "Granny", sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed! DURDEN -- William Conrad Durden Sr., age 78, passed away on December 17, 2007 in Tomball, TX. He was born in New Orleans to Watson and Sarah Durden on May 27, 1929. William served his country proudly during WWII for the United States Army. He practiced Law in Albuquerque, NM and was a member of the First Baptist Church. William is survived by his wife, T. Maxine Durden and their children; one son, William Conrad Durden Jr.,of Rio Rancho, NM and one daughter, Jane C. Moore, and her husband, Dr. Drew Moore of Houston, TX. GABALDON -- Betty Mae Gabaldon, beloved and beautiful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2008 with her family by her side. Betty was born January 2, 1938. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Telesfor "Gabby" Gabaldon; her four daughters, Kay and husband, Carl Wasson, Bonnie and husband, Demmy Edwell, Anita and preceding husband, Tom Bills, and Joyce and husband, David Griego. She had six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Andrea, Dorothy, Josie, and Frances; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Betty will live in the hearts and memories of those lives she touched by her kind and gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed by all. A Rosary for Mrs. Gabaldon will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. GALLEGOS -- Daniel Gallegos, "Dan the Iron Man", died peacefully at home Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his mother, Filadelphia Baca; his father, Henry Gallegos; his grandparents who raised him, Pete and Veronica Baca; his father-in-law, Raymundo Mares; grandson, Steven Gallegos, and two sisters, Della Aguirre and Connie Gallegos. Daniel is survived by his wife of 28 years, Bennie Mares; his children, Christina Gallegos, Lisa Laycock, Daniel Gallegos, David and wife, Carla Gallegos, Dominic Gallegos, Veronica and husband, Mike Godinez, Sammy and wife, Teriann Chavez, Robert Chavez, Michael and Rachel Salway; 27 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Henry, Robert, Abraham, Margaret, Bennie, Pete and wife, Rosie, Ronald, Francis, Dolores and Joe; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Daniel served his time as a Police Officer in San Bernardino, CA in the early '70s. He moved back to Albuquerque and began his career with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 1985. He ran for Sheriff in 1982 and in 1992. Daniel was also the owner of Custom Iron by Gallegos, where he designed iron for 25 years. Services and Visitation will be held at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, near Menaul and San Mateo. GUTIERREZ -- Leroy E. Gutierrez, age 55, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008. He was employed by the Los Lunas Public Schools as a Crossing Guard. Leroy was a very dedicated employee who loved his job very much. He liked listening to Oldies and Spanish music. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Leroy was a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Andronico Gutierrez; his mother, Amadita Gutierrez; and three brothers, Jesus, Jimmy and Michael Gutierrez. Leroy is survived by his four loving children, Daisy Gonzales and her husband, Valente of Albuqueque, Valerie Cordero of Los Lunas, Elroy Gutierrez of Los Lunas and Adrian Gutierrez and his wife, Amanda of Los Lunas; sister, Rosemary Gutierrez of Albuquerque; brother, Toby Gutierrez of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Johnathan, Amanda, Adam, Daniel, Alisha, Kayla and Dominique; three great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Charlene Gutierrez of Albuquerque. HERNANDEZ -- FELIPE Mr. Felipe Hernandez, 90, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2008, and is now in Heaven with our Lord. KOCH -- Marilyn Joyce Koch was born to Sumner Stanley Koch and Margaret Tucker Koch on March 30, 1951 in Santa Fe, NM. She passed away at her home in Bernalillo, NM on Friday, January 4, 2008. MARTINEZ -- Raymond A. Martinez, "Beaver", loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away on Monday, January 7, 2008 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Phyllis Martinez of the family home; daughters, Ramona MacLeod and husband, Joseph and Renee Martinez, all of Albuquerque; grandsons Gus and Caleb MacLeod; special nieces and nephews, Patsy Salazar-Vigil, Jacqueline Davis, Roberta Martinez, Orlando Salazar, and Steven Santistevan; and many great-nieces and -nephews. MCLEAN -- Hope "Hoppie" Madeline McLean passed away on Monday, January 7, 2008 in Socorro, NM. She was born in Morgantown, WV to John and Mayme (Pitman) Chapman. She was one of the founders of the Dravosburg, PA Women's Club and the Dravosburg Public Library. She was active member of the St. John's Evangelical Luthern Church in Dravosburg. She attended West Virginia University after graduating from high school. She was a resident of Socorro, NM since 1981. Hoppie is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Harold M. Chapman. MEIKLE -- James R. Meikle passed away on December 4, 2007. Jim was born on January 11, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN and moved to Albuquerque in 1949 to work for Sandia National Laboratories. He retired in 1977 and enjoyed fishing, and volunteering for the Library of Congress and La Mesa Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Meikle and Judy Smith and husband, Dennis; daughters, Beth Cummins and husband, Bob, of Tijeras, NM; Debbie Snider and husband, Richard, of Dallas, TX; Susan Meikle, Linda Melphy of Littleton, CO, and Kathy Tate of Paradise, CA; a son, Steve Tate and wife, Sondra, of Alturas, CA; daughter-in-law, Carol Canning, of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Kathleen DeBenedittis and husband, Kevin, Steve Cummins and wife, Shawna, Shea and Chloe Snider, Kerry Jones, Jed Tate and wife, Amanda, Richard and Clinton Tate; niece, Janice Houser and husband, Jack; nephew, Bruce Meikle and wife, Nancy; and twelve great-grandchildren. MURRAY -- Thomas Oliver Miles Murray, Sr., 95, of Culpeper, died on Monday, December 24, 2007 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 16, 1912 in Syracuse, KS to the late Mary Sparks Pullen. Mr. Murray was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge # 213 in Glen Burnie, MD. He enjoyed reading and was very active and talented in many areas. Most of all Mr. Murray loved his family and cherished each moment spent with them. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Juanita Hart and her husband, Neal of Mineral, VA, and Thomas O. Murray, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Choctaw, OK, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene Vivian Murray. ROMERO -- May Schilling Stephan Gee Romero, 83, a 43-year resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008. May was born on January 20, 1924 in Evansville, IN, and was named after her grandmother, May Schilling. May is survived by her brother, Theodore R. Stephan of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Jean Wagstaff of Santa Clarita, CA; children, Alice M. Jordan and husband, John W., of Bryan-College Station, TX, William E. Gee and wife, Carol E., of Oklahoma City, OK, Theodore R. Gee and wife, Irene A., Margaret A. Stewart, Patrick D. Gee and wife, Lori E., and James C. Gee all of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. May had been a volunteer with the American Red Cross during World War II. She had also been Five Star Oil Report's, Wichita Falls, TX, manager. Later she had been a fashion model at an exclusive clothing shop and then went to work as an interior decorator with Bob Klein Interiors. She had been office manager for acupuncturist, William A. Roberts. May was a talented artistic person who loved making jewelry and other arts and crafts. She was a campaign volunteer in the 1990s for former Congressman Steve Schiff. May was a member of the Highland Senior Center where she once loved to exercise three times a week and missed it very much. She loved her gardening and being outdoors. She had a passion for the opera, especially Madam Butterfly and La Boehm. Services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. ROYMAN -- Floy Edith Royman, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Faught, TX to Jesse and Lillie Dean Briscoe on March 16, 1923. Floy was a longtime member of the Sanado Club of Albuquerque, NM. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished and loved her family and friends. Floy was an active member of several Catholic Churches and participated in the choirs. She is survived by her children; one daughter, Nancy Wright and her husband, Clyde; two sons, Richard Royman and his wife, Sharon and Tim Royman and his wife, Susan; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Wright and wife, Danielle, Jennifer Wright and Dennis Royman. SANTILLANES -- Eleanor Santillanes, 84, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008. She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo V. Santillanes and by a daughter, Susan Ann Santillanes Hall. She is survived by four daughters, Janette Chavez and her husband, Manuel, Loretta S. Gonzales, Cathy Santillanes, and Edwina Santillanes all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Victor Chavez, Michael Santillanes, Benita Garcia, Jesus Andrade, Edwina Andrade, Denny Alan Hall, and Amy Hall; five great-grandchildren, Marianita Chavez, Michael Santillanes, Jr., Mateo Santillanes, Aiden Hall, and Erik Garcia, Jr., and numerous other relatives and friends. SHWARTZ -- Clara May, of Albuquerque, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away, Sunday, January 6, 2008 peacefully at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Clara was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was a buyer for the May Company at the early age of 18. She met and married "Pablo" in 1951 in Youngstown and they moved to Albuquerque in 1953, where Paul, a graduate of the first law class at UNM, practiced law for almost 40 years. Clara was a longtime volunteer at Congregation Albert and was very active in the Democratic Party where she served on the committee for Senator Joseph Montoya. She also had a distinguished career as a top producer in real estate in Albuquerque for many years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Shwartz, in 1992 and is survived by daughters, Dr. Maxann Shwartz, Barbara Shwartz and her children, Jacob, Paulina and Samuel, and Maribeth Price, her husband, Richard and their children, Cydney and Bryan; brother, Paul J. Wald; sister, Florence Rosenstein; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many close friends who were considered as family. He is survived by his father, George Bienkowski; his brother, Mike Bienkowski and wife, Margie, his brother, Steven Bienkowski; and sister, Janis Younce and husband, Kenneth; father and mother-in-law, Pilar and Mayme Costales; in-laws; Sam and Julie Costales, James and Terry Jaramillo and Pete and Evelyn Costales. His mother, Charlotte Bienkowski and brother, Johnny Bienkowski, preceded him in death. He is also survived by nieces, Carlie, Charlotte, Jamie, Kristin, Shannon, Desiree and Jordane; and nephews, David, Dominick and Isaac. Frank served his country proudly and courageously in Vietnam and retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was with the VA Hospital for the last 15 years. He loved his Family, his Country and his beloved Dobermans, Zeus, Apollo and Koko. He was quite the artist and loved to draw, sketch and paint. A Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at French Mortuary Westside Chapel 9300 Golf Course Rd NW.
