JOHNSON -- Robert "Bob" Edwin Johnson, 84, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 in the presence of his loving family. Born June 19, 1923 in Osage City, KS to Arthur and Blanche Johnson. Robert graduated from Ruskin High School, Kansas City, MO. He enrolled at the University of Alabama and in 1943 enlisted in Army Air Corp. Aviation Cadet training. Robert was commissioned in May 1944 to 2nd Lieutenant and entered Pilot Training at Williams AFB, Arizona. He was a senior flight instructor with over 5000 hours in various single engine jets, Conventional twin and four engine as well as civilian single and twin engines. Robert attended Air Command and Staff School and Squadron Officers School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, also Air University Senior Officers Aerospace Management. He Served in served in many capacities during his 24 years in the Air Force. To name a few; Chief Tactical Air Systems Officer at Directorate of Nuclear Safety, Sandia Base, NM, Nuclear Briefing Offices, Atomic Weapons Training Group, Defense Atomic Support Agency, Albuquerque, NM, Staff Officer, Headquarters 22nd AF Military Airlift Command, Norton AFB, CA., Flight Instructor, Squadron Officers School, Maxwell AFB Alabama, and Base Adjutant, Laquers AFB, Azores. Robert is survived by his daughters, Lana Carver and husband, George, JoEllen Acosta and husband, Clovis, Barbara Lingle; grandchildren, Liz Acosta, Missy Bianco, Lea Lindstrom and George Carver III; and six great-grandchildren. KIRBY -- June L. Bryant-Kirby, 80, passed away December 21, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on December 2, 1927 to Alton and Sylvia Wilcox in Bald Knob, AR. June became an LPN in 1969 and worked at several hospitals in the Albuquerque area. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. June is survived by her husband of 17 years, M. Richard Kirby; daughter, Jane L. Banes and husband, Dick of Farmington, NM; step-son, Rick Kirby and wife, Gail; step-daughter, Charlotte Ryan and husband, Tommy of Birmingham, AL; granddaughters, April and Amanda Bryant of Bald Knob, AR; cousins, Hugh and Carolyn Tyler of TN, and Carolyn and Dwight Burns of Bald Knob, AR; all the Zia Roamers Good Sam's; her friends from Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Hoffmantown Baptist Church; and numerous extended family members. June was preceded in death by a baby sister and brother; her parents; her husband, Henry Bryant, in 1987; her sons, Henry Lynn Bryant, in 1999, and Thomas R. Bryant in 2003. KIST -- Gross Susan Kist, age 84, passed away on December 22, 2007. She was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on May 3, 1923. She was a resident of Los Alamos since 1978. Prior to that she lived in Lakewood, CO, Albuquerque, NM, and Arlington, VA. She was an honor graduate of Fulton High School, Fulton, MO, and was active in the Pep Squad, Drum and Bugle Corps, and the school newspaper. She attended Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her husband, Fred A. Gross, Jr. of 64 years; daughters: Joyce D. Freiwald of Albuquerque, NM, Cheryl A. Boone and husband, Douglas of Albuquerque, NM, Narra S. Tsiagkouris and husband, James of Los Alamos, NM; son, Fred A. Gross, III and wife, Denise of Santa Fe, NM; sister, Mary Phelan and husband, Robert of Boulder, CO; brother, Frank Doran of Los Angeles, CA. There are ten grandchildren: Wes Freiwald and wife, June of Hawaii, Todd Freiwald and wife, Wendy of Winchester, VA and their children: Jake, Ryan, Scott, and Megan, Chris Freiwald and wife, Lani and their daughter, Brisan of Albuquerque, NM, Marjorie D. Gross, and Frederick A. Gross IV, of Santa Fe, NM, Anastasia, Zoe, and Alexandria Tsiagkouris of Los Alamos, NM. She married Fred A. Gross, Jr. July 2, 1943 and resided in many cities in the United States and in Okinawa following her husband during his career in the regular United States Air Force. She was very active in the Girl Scouts serving as Brownie, Cadet, Junior, and Senior Troop Leader and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chaparral Girl Scout Council. She was active in Republican politics during the eight years her husband served in the New Mexico Senate and was a member of the Board of Directors of Federated Republican Women of Bernalillo County, a member of the Public School Advisory Board of Bernalillo County, and on the Bernalillo Board of Directors for Retarded Citizens. She was a member of the Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary in Albuquerque. In Los Alamos she served on the Board and as President of the Los Alamos Medical Center Auxiliary, and on as State President of New Mexico Hospital Auxiliary Association. She was active in the White Rock Methodist Church and served as the Chairman of the Board of the Horizon's Center Day Care Program and as a member of several other committees. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a very skilled seamstress, quilter and knitter and enjoyed fishing, camping, and travel. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Funeral Services will be conducted at White Rock United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Rock United Methodist Church 580 Meadow Lane, or the Los Alamos Medical Center Auxiliary 3917 West Rd. KOEGLER -- Audrey Ortrun Elisabeth Koegler (formerly Alt), passed away December 21, 2007. She was born November 5, 1943 in Hamm, Germany. She is survived by children, Dorraine Richers and family, Diana Dirickson and family and Roger Koegler, Jr. and family. LAW -- James P. Law, 91, resident of Albuquerque since 1988, passed away on Christmas Day 2007. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Miriam; son, Jim Law and wife, Corinne of Albuquerque; grandson, Nile Law of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Melanie and Joh Kornbluh of Rico, CO; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Sara Law, and Jonah Law Kornbluh and Ruben James Kornbluh; sisters, Beth Edminster of Oklahoma, and Emma Holt and husband, Si of Round Rock, TX. J.P. served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a pilot of multi-engine aircraft. He later earned a PhD from Texas A&M University in 1965, and pursued a career as a research scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at the Kerr Water Research Center in Ada, OK. During his years in Oklahoma, J.P. was an avid bird-hunter and skeet shooter. After his arrival in Albuquerque he sang for a number of years with the New MexiChords mens barbershop chorus. LUCERO -- Albert Lucero (May 25, 1963 - December 23, 2007) Albert Lucero age 44 of Clovis, NM died Sunday December 23, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. Mass will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Albuquerque with Father Bijoy Francis officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Lucas Jaramillo, Pablo Alires, Joe Pino Jr., Andrew DeMarcus, Robert Lucero, Shane Boyce, and Albert Lucero Jr. Albert was born May 25, 1963 to Santiago and Carolina Gutierrez Lucero in Albuquerque, NM. He married Vanessa December 2, 2003 in Clovis, NM. He worked in Civil Service at Cannon AFB with Ameritac Construction. He was a Nascar and Miami Dolphin Fan and an avid sports card collector. Survivors include his wife, Vanessa Lucero of the home; three sons, Albert S. (Chassity) Lucero of Ribera, NM, Zachary Genson and John David Lynch, a brother, Louis (Reyna) Lucero of Cuba, NM; four sisters, Carmel (Joe) Pino of Tucumcari, NM; Theresa (Gilbert) Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; Patsy Wilson of Tulsa, OK; and Margaret (Johnny) Bustos of Alamosa, CO; his mother, Carolina Lucero of Albuquerque, NM; a grandson, Albert Charles Lucero of Ribera, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. MARES -- Caroline "Carol" Mares passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by her family Sunday, December 16th, 2007, she was 91 years old. She was born in 1916 to Robert Martinez and Margarita (Baca) Martinez in Moriarty, NM and soon moved with the family to Dawson, NM where she was to meet her life companion, Santos "Jim" Mares. Carol graduated from Dawson High School in 1934 and attended Business College in Santa Fe, NM. After graduation, she worked for a few years as a secretary, where her High School sweetheart, Jim, came and asked her to be his wife. She was married December 7, 1938 in Denver, Colorado, where they moved so Jim could continue to manage one of his brother's businesses. The family grew to four as first Robert "Bob" (1940) then Bill (1942) was born. Carol and family relocated to San Francisco, California in 1942 when Jim took a position with Pan American Airways flying on the China Clippers (flying Boats) out of Treasure Island. Carol and family relocated briefly to San Mateo, where Myra Dee was born in 1947 and that year moved to Vallejo. In 1953 the family was afforded the opportunity, by Pan Am, to live in Hong Kong for 3 years before returning to make Vallejo their home. After returning to the states, Carol worked at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, as a Secretary in the Design Division she retired in 1972. Carol was a tireless homemaker who loved to cook and care for her children as well as holding down a full time career, before retirement. She was quite the world traveler, and visited London England, Paris France, Rome, Italy, Barcelona & Madrid, Spain, The Canary Islands and Hawaii. After retiring Carol loved to spend time chatting for hours with her sister, Isabelle, or childhood friend, Adelina Chene and was an avid biography reader. She is survived by her children, sons, Robert "Bob" , Bill (Janice) of Vallejo and daughter, Myra Dee Meyer of Sacramento; granddaughters, Dee Suzanne Mares and Elizabeth Ann Meyer; grandson, Brian Cook; sisters, Helen (George) Janssen ( Albuquerque, NM), Lucy (Paul) Valdez, (Santa Fe, NM) and Virginia "Gina" Giminez, (Napa, CA); nieces, Lorraine Teresi, (San Jose, CA), Marla (John) Arrambide (Napa, CA)Mike (Linda) and Mark Janssen, Sandy (Phillip) Cook ( Houston, TX), Bob, Joe, and Vince Martinez (Santa Fe, NM), Paul-Ray and Larry Valdez & Margie Zamora-Sandoval (Santa Fe, NM),Corrine(Harve) Harlow, Dodie (Larry) Ferrel, & Robert Viramontes (Albuquerque, NM); great nephews/nieces John (Kara) Teresi (San Jose, CA) Diana (Joe) Wenson (Rocklin, CA), John Paul and Steven Arrambide (Napa, CA), and numerous Davis family members. MORRIS -- Bobbie Jean Morris, 78, of Albuquerque, NM went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2007. She is survived by her children, Michelle Fite and husband, Roger of Arcadia, OK and Kevin Morris and wife, Margaret of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Troy, Lance, Candice, Kevin Jr. and Emily; sister, Charlene Barr and husband, Clarence of Minco, OK; and brother, Glenn Carrell of Minco, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Doyle W. Morris and brother, Glenn Carrell. She was born April 10, 1929 in McQueen, OK. She was a member of and active in various ministries of First Baptist Church of Albuquerque. She was also a member of and active in the P.O.E. womens organization. MURPHEY -- John (Jack or Murf) Murphey, age 43, went to be with Jesus, Monday, December 24, 2007, after a long tough battle with an illness. Jack or Murf, as his family and friends so fondly called him, was born on March 2, 1964 in Silver City, NM, then moved to Albuquerque, and later married and called Bernalillo, NM his home. He worked at Lectrosonics as an Electronic Technician, for 17 years. Jack loved the Lord; his Annetto and his "Mommy". John was a man of God, his faith never failing him, his prayers were words of comfort and his hands were tools of the Lord. Murf loved his family, loud Rock-n-Roll music and playing the Guitar; the Raiders, and a good meal at Abuelitas. Jack we will miss you, life on earth will never be the same. But, we stand in agreement that we will see you again. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Billy; and his father, Donald Murphey. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Annette Murphey; his children, Johnny Murphey, Jeremy Robinson, Victoria, Stefany Olivas, and adopted daughter, Holly. Also surviving are his mother, Stella (Nan) Murphey; sisters, Bobbie Denton and Judy Hale both of Albuquerque; numerous nephews, nieces, that Jack loved dearly and had a special relationship with each one. We will all miss you so much Jack, as a husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. You will be always in our hearts. P.S. I love you Sweetheart! Forever.
