VESELY -- Roy Robert Vesely, 79, went to his eternal home Saturday, July 28, 2007 after a brief illness. Roy was born in Pender, Nebraska on April 9, 1928, the son of Frank Joseph and Mary (Holub) Vesely. He moved to South Dakota at age 15 where he joined his brother as a ranch hand. Later, Roy met Leah Catherine Stemen and they were married May 28, 1955. Roy farmed and ranched in the area around Draper, SD for many years. Roy was also an astute business leader who ran a successful business in a small community. He managed the West River Implement dealership in Draper for a number of years and in 1989 became its owner and renamed it the West River Equipment Company. Roy was active in many capacities in the area churches throughout his life. He was member of the Draper Town Board and the Draper Volunteer Fire Department. In 1997, Roy and Leah moved to Rio Rancho, NM to "retire". Roy continued his active life as a member of Grace Outreach Center. For a time, he delivered new, Pierce fire trucks from the Appleton, WI plant to various communities throughout the United States, and he also became a Master Gardener eight years ago. Roy was very fond of his dogs and usually had at least one by his side. Another hobby that Roy excelled at was making custom, hand-crafted bird houses using weathered boards. In short, Roy was one of those resourceful types that could fix, repair, build and create just about anything around the shop or home. He will be missed by his family and his friends. Roy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Leah; his daughters, Pamela Anne Olguin of Rio Rancho and her children, Brian, Anthony and Catherine Olguin and Mary Helen Wipf and husband, Ron of Huron.
