DAVIS -- B. Jean Davis, born in Battle Creek, MI on April 10, 1930, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2007. Jean is lovingly cherished by her husband of 56 years, B.J. Davis; daughter, Denise Davis and husband, Tom Wilber; sons, Bruce Davis and wife, Tina, Steve Davis and wife, Christina, and Ron Davis and wife, Renee; grandchildren, Brandon Davis and wife, Julie, Bryan Matysiak, Aaron Davis and wife, Sally, Desiree Davis, Chad Davis, Brittany Davis, Kaila Davis, Aubrey Davis and Sean Davis; sister, Wilma; and many other loving relatives. She has joined in heaven her son, William, who preceded her in death six years ago. Mom was a dedicated mother who worked tirelessly to care for five children, one of whom had special needs. Dad was the one who brought home the stray dog or two, while it was her children who brought home stray and needy children. Mom opened her heart and home to everyone, taking in several children who needed a stable home. An example of her open arms is when 40 or so adults and teenagers from Gilmer, TX descended on our home while on their way to build a medical clinic for our father on the Navajo Nation. Mom made sure they each had a place to sleep; every corner of the house had a sleeping bag. The next morning, she made breakfast for all. Mom dedicated 20 years to working with her husband as they volunteered their Saturdays to operate the free medical clinic at Tinnian. She also supported her husband through many medical mission trips to remote South American countries. As a mother of a special needs child, Mom worked tirelessly to help start an organization to provide services to families of disabled children as an alternative to state run facilities. She was President of the Board of the Adelante Development Center for many years. Mom was a devote Christian and very active in church life, including singing in the choir and the ladies ensemble and leading a Sunday school class. She was an accomplished painter in her spare time and enjoyed conversation with her family and many friends. Mom worked part-time at Foley's and then decided to pursue her real estate license at the age of 65. She worked for several years for Pargin Realty. Mom received great satisfaction from these accomplishments but, as her family will tell you, her greatest accomplishment was providing each member of her family with an anchor and a source of unconditional love. Thank you, Mom, for all you've given to us; you will be greatly missed. Family and Friends may visit Thursday, June 14, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Services will be held Friday, June 15, 10:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway SE. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Adelante Development Center, Inc., Attn: Development Department, 3900 Osuna Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
