CHACON -- Debra Ann Chacon "Debbie" was born February 21, 1961. The Lord's messenger came on Thursday, April 5, 2007. Debbie retired as Lieutenant, from the City of Albuquerque Corrections Department. Debbie was a loving and caring person and deeply loved by her family. She will be greatly missed. Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Upshaw and brother, Jerry Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Isidro Chacon; her daughter, Nichole Turrietta; her father, Joe Archuleta; sisters, Julia Solano and Theresa Sierra; brother, Alfonso Garcia; and many other family members and caring friends who loved her and will miss her. I'm Free - Don't grieve for me now I'm free; I'm following the path God has laid, you see. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, O yes these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I've wished you the sunshine for tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seems all to brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee, God wanted me now - He set me free. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your prayers. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW, ABQ. 505-343-8008

COASH -- Monica Ann Monica Ann Coash October 1, 1957-April 15, 2006 First Anniversary God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you And whispered "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer And saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay, A golden heart stopped beating Hardworking hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us... That he only takes the best! It's lonesome here without you, We miss you more each day, Life doesn't seem the same, Since you went away. When days are sad and lonely, And everything goes wrong, We seem to hear you whisper, "Cheer up and carry on." Each time we see your picture, You seem to smile and say "Don't cry, I'm in God's hands, We'll meet again someday!" Monica- An Inspiration to All- Your Loving Family

He served as a member of the Albuquerque City Planning Commission, a Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Albuquerque Metropolitan Flood Control Authority and the UNM Campus Planning Committee. Professor May also served on several traffic study boards and was associated with the New Mexico Accident Study Program at UNM. As much as Marvin loved teaching, home was truly where his heart was. He met the love of his life, Virginia Minter May, on the University of New Mexico campus and they married June 21, 1942. They created a home in which family and friends were always welcome. Marvin loved the beauty of nature and chose the Pacific Northwest for several summer sabbaticals on which he took his family. In his home carpentry workshop, he created furnishings and toys and restored several antiques all of which have become family treasures. Marvin and Virginia enjoyed the symphony, day trips around New Mexico, Southwestern art and classes in local history. Marvin was a perpetual student and teacher. The City of Albuquerque is indebted to Professor May for his many years of service that helped shape our city and make it safer. His students at UNM not only learned the science of civil engineering from him, but life lessons that enriched their lives and marriages. Marvin's family is left with fond memories, wisdom and virtues that will be cherished by every member for generations to come. Professor May is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Virginia Minter May of Albuquerque; as well two daughters. Virginia May Shumate and husband. E. Chandler Shumate of San Diego, CA, and Mary May Sproul and husband, Jeff Sproul of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held at a future time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

NATION -- Olin Pascal (Chief) Nation, born February 16, 1914, died April 10, 2007 was born in Chickamauga, Georgia, the ninth child of William and Tinnie Mae Nation. He grew up on a farm, learning to work hard, love the land, be persistent in hardship. As a tall, strong, young man, he played football in high school and college, and earned a full scholarship for college, graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in business, and as captain of the football team. He earned his nickname, "Chief" during this time because of his leadership abilities and his Cherokee heritage. While attending the University, he met his wife-to-be, Laura Jean. They had four daughters; Cheryl Touryan, Kay Willadsen, Mary Alice Higbie, and Alma O'Lynne Robb, seven grandchildren, and currently, fourteen great-grandchildren. At the beginning of World War II, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as Captain throughout the war. He and Laura Jean moved to Albuquerque in 1946 for a job as a builder, working with his father-in-law. He continued working in construction until retirement from his company, Nation Construction Co. He was involved in the construction of many of the buildings here in Albuquerque, from The Pit, to banks, schools, and buildings on the UNM campus. Chief was a big, powerful man, but gentle and quiet. His godly character was appreciated by those who knew him. He loved his family, the soil, and quality, craftsman-like construction. He and Laura Jean were known as those who loved to share whatever they had. Together, they built a happy home, filled with laughter, joy, and love of learning, passing on this heritage to their daughters and grandchildren. They spent many memorable times around the table, where there was much merrymaking with their daughters' friends and would-be-suitors. Memories of their home are filled with fondness; noisy Young Life and Intervarsity meetings, penetrating Bible studies together, the best parties around, and taking trips to the lake to share the fun of water skiing. Theirs home was known as a place of lively, energetic congeniality, full of the joy of learning and fun. In their latter years, Chief and Laura enjoyed each other, their grandchildren, their gardens, their cabin at Vallecito Lake in Colorado, and their church, Heights Cumberland Presbyterian. They loved the Word of God, and believed that their retirement years were specifically given to use for much prayer. Their boat had a "fish finder" in it, which they enjoyed, but the truth of the matter was that they were most interested in a different kind of "fishing." Chief Nation: faithful to his family, faithful to God, faithful to the end. The family is hosting a memorial open house on Sunday, April 22, between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. at The St. James Tearoom, 901 Rio Grande NW, suite E-130.
