BOROWIAK -- Frank J. Borowiak Sr., 87, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away quietly in his sleep on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Frank was born December 1, 1919, the son of Joseph and Theresa Deka Borowiak in Lemont, IL. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and worked as a draftsman for over 30 years with Danley Corporation. Frank is a member of Incarnation Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion. Frank was preceded in death by daughter, Dolores and husband, Tom Krause. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Loretta; two sons, Frank, Jr. of Albuquerque, Harry (Paula) of Aurora, IL; two daughters, Mary Jo Benco (Don) of Rio Rancho, and Jeanne (Ernie Adams) of Albuquerque; one sister, Phyllis Borders of Illinois; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. When asked the secret to a good marriage, he answered, "yesdear is one word." The visitation for Frank will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services at Vista Verde, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE, Rio Rancho. BURRESS -- John W. Burress, age 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007. He was born October 17, 1932 in Wortham, TX and married Constance F. "Connie" Hardesty in Albuquerque on June 6, 1959. After his discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1955, John earned his Bachelor's Degree in Geology. In 1958 he worked while attending Graduate School at UNM. John was involved in the oil and gas business until 1963. He then accepted a position with Mountain Bell here in Albuquerque, where he was involved in selling Yellow Page Advertising. John was a natural in this area, and was soon promoted to Sales Manager and relocated to Phoenix. His career with Mountain Bell finally took him to Denver where he was involved in various staff and management positions. In 1980, John jumped at the opportunity to come home to Albuquerque as an Office Manager with Mountain Bell. He retired from Mountain Bell in 1988 after 25 rewarding years. John was engaged in the real estate business and was a former member of the Albuquerque Board of Realtors. In his spare time, John enjoyed woodworking, outdoor sports, recreation and trap shooting. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Connie; daughter, Holly Marquez and her husband, Derek of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren, Sydney, Austin and Dillon Marquez; his oldest childhood friend and nanny, Dorothy Nagai of San Marcos, TX; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. Burress was preceded in death by his son, Cliff in 1983; three brothers, Robert, William, and Julius Burress. Memorial Services will be held Friday, January 26, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. CASAUS -- Sotero Casaus, age 94, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2007. Sotero was born on February 29, 1912 to Victor and Faustinita (Esther) Casados, in Cuba, NM. Sotero served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life long rancher in the Cuba, NM area. Sotero was a member of our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM and also a member of the VFW. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Martina Martinez, Mary Vigil, and Tony Casados. He is survived by his wife, Maria A. Casaus; children, Cecilia Casaus, Celestino (Tino) Casaus and wife, Judy, and Pat Casaus; grandchildren, Gabriel T. Casaus and wife, Monica, and Andrea M. Casaus; great-granddaughter, Jonauh R. Casaus; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. DUNKLEE -- Ken Dunklee, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died Monday, January 22, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Alice Dunklee; children, Robert, Debbie, Edwin, Norman, Juanita, and Joyce; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Ray of New Hampshire. FULKERSON -- Earl Fulkerson, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dortha; daughters, Earlene Martin and husband, James and Linda Depoy and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers. Earl was a great carpenter in Texas and New Mexico. He served in the US Army during WWII. He and his wife have lived in New Mexico for 47 years. MORGAN -- Doyle Kay Morgan, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Splattstoesser of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren, Daniel Splattstoesser (Erica), Airman Adam Splattstoesser (Christine), Melody Splattstoesser, and Jennifer Splattstoesser; one great-grandson, Aiden Splattstoesser; brothers, Neil Morgan (LaNae) of Logan, UT, and Grant Morgan (Diane) of Liberty, ID; sisters, LouJean Allred (Jack) of Salt Lake City, UT, Verla Todd (Bruce) of Fruit Heights, UT, and Carolyn Park (Ivan) of Oakley, UT; and numerous other relatives and friends. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Evan and Lela Mae Saunders Morgan. He was born on May 23, 1929 in Liberty, ID and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Doyle worked for Sandia National Laboratories until he retired as a Design Engineer in 2006. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sandia Ward. He served faithfully in many callings including as a missionary to Great Britain, a bishopric member, a high councilor, and a home teacher. Doyle was a loving father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. PETERSON -- Mary Alice Peterson, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for the past six years, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007. Mary Alice was born February 9, 1922 the daughter of William Duncan and Elizabeth Nowlin Webb in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She had lived in Jemez Springs for 35 years before moving to Albuquerque. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy R. Peterson in 2002. She is survived by three children, Larry R. and wife Debi Peterson of Denver, CO, Woody Peterson of Bonney Lake, WA, and Dena Statkus and husband Robert of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren; one brother, Edward Webb of California; and two sisters, Ruth Thacker of Texas, and Beth Medlin of Oklahoma. POSICH -- Alan Chris Posich, born July 4, 1951 at Fort Bragg, NC, died at home on January 4, 2007. Alan, a 30-year resident of New Mexico, graduated from Rutgers University, later acquiring a Master's Degree while teaching in New Mexico. For six years, in the 1970s, Alan ran a primitive ranch in the Sangre de Christo Mountains before becoming an educator in Albuquerque at the Menaul School and later at the Sandia Preparatory School. For the past years he was the director and principal of Educational Consulting and Testing Services. Alan was known for his devotion to helping children learn and do well in school and he was beloved for the positive influence he had on so many. He was also cherished as a wonderful poet. He is survived by his loving family in New Mexico: two daughters, Amber and Osha Posich; his new bride, Amy Ross; and his brother, Kim Posich; his mother, Violetta of Silver Spring, MD; and his three sisters, Enid Foster of Silver Spring, MD, Gwen Meyers of Charlotte, NC, and Ingrid Braulini of Grantham, NH. PUHARA -- Florence E. Puhara, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2007 in Glendale, CA. She was 91 years old. Florence was born in Albuquerque in 1915, and lived there until 1995 when she moved to California to be closer to her children, Gerry and John. She was a great joy to her family throughout her life and especially during her final years with Alzheimer's which she spent listening daily to her favorite jazz standards, performing tap routines in a chair, and visiting with her family. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, John Puhara, whom she married in 1943. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Knight; and her father, Edgar Knight; as well as her sister, Laura Crum; and her brother, Robin Knight. She is survived by two children, John Knight Puhara and Geraldine Dorothy Puhara; a niece to whom she was a mother: Elizabeth Simons; a son-in-law, Russell Ferrante; and one grandchild, Claire Ferrante. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews including Rob Knight, Nancy Smart, Patti Hopper, Fred Knight, and Diana Winter. Grand-nieces include Rebecca Simons, Sara Simons, Brad Clifton, Jeff Clifton, Saxon Knight, Kristin Davis, Ryan Hopper, and Scotty Knight. Florence and her mother Dorothy, were the owners of the Dorothy Knight School of Dance in Albuquerque, NM. Founded in 1922, it was the first dancing school in Albuquerque and continued in business until the 1980s. Florence was a fantastic tap dancer, and teacher during those years. During the war she spent time in Los Angeles with her sister, Laura, studying dance and working at Douglas Aircraft. Alzheimer's disease never stilled her tapping feet, or her love of music. Her life was celebrated at a Memorial Service at All Saints Church in Pasadena, CA on January 13, 2007. Graveside Services will be performed in Albuquerque, NM on January 27, 2007 at 11:00 at Fairview Cemetary, 700 Yale Blvd., Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Ricketts passed away January 18, 2007 in Amarillo, TX. Joyce was born on April 20, 1924 in Claude, TX to the late Mr. Wayne A. McMurry and Mrs. Eva Ann Powell McMurry. She attended grammar school in Claude, TX and graduated in 1942 from Memphis High School. She then went on to receive a bachelor's degree in Religious Education in 1950 from Phillips University in Enid, OK. She married Glenn W. Ricketts on June 15, 1949 in Lubbock, TX. They moved to Canadian, TX on August 12, 1999 from Albuquerque, NM. Joyce was an integral part of her husband's ministry in the Disciples of Christ church. The highlight of her professional life was her work as registrar of two colleges: College of Artesia in Artesia, NM and St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM. In addition to being a minister's wife, and a minister in her own right, she continued her joy of working with people as a real estate agent for 12 years in Albuquerque, NM. Joyce was a current member of Chapter I PEO and has been an active PEO member for 50 years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Ricketts and a granddaughter, Gwyn Ricketts. She is survived by her husband, Glenn W. Ricketts of Canadian, TX; one son, Doug Ricketts and wife, Cathy of Lipscomb, TX; one sister, Nora Phillips of Lake Kiowa, TX; a sister-in-law, Catharine Russell of Hereford, TX; one granddaughter, Lindsay Ricketts of Saratoga, WY; and a host of loving family and friends. SANCHEZ -- Judy Lynn Sanchez, 57, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Monday, January 22, 2007. She is survived by her spouse, Jim Sanchez of Albuquerque; son, Steven Sanchez and wife, Robyn of Albuquerque; parents, Wayne T. and Gene Hines of Albuquerque; grandson, Devon James Sanchez; sister, Patti Malouff and husband, Michael; and many relatives in New Mexico, Texas, and other areas of the country. SANTISTEVAN -- Lawrence S. Santistevan, 51, of Moriarty, NM passed away on January 18, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. Lawrence was born March 3, 1955 in Roswell, NM to Jose and Mary (Vigil) Santistevan. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, NM and of the Local 412 Union. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Richard Santistevan. Lawrence is survived by his father; and sisters, Louise and husband, Rick Clayton of Palm Cost, FL; Terri Santistevan of Albuquerque, NM; Veronica and husband, Peter Duran of Rio Rancho, NM; Victoria and husband, Mike Otero of Winslow, AZ: Gloria Santistevan of Jacksonville, FL, and Valerie Thurman of Albuquerque, NM. STIRLING -- D. June Stirling, 80, longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007. She is survived by her children, Gene Holmes and wife, Anne, Nancy Clifford and husband, Brad, all of Albuquerque, Janet York and husband, Rusty of Portland, OR, David Stirling; special family friend, Mickey Murrah, both of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Adam, Jenny, Allison, Erin and Garrett. Mrs. Stirling was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and her eldest son, Randall Holmes. June was born in Marble Falls, TX and was a longtime Mountain Bell employee in Albuquerque. STULL -- Christine "Chris" Kay Smith Stull, of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at home. Born in Albuquerque, NM on September 18, 1946 to Mike T.D. and Doris Jeanne Dowe Smith, Christine graduated from Sandia High School in 1964 and married Robert Nichols Stull, Jr. on December 29, 1966. As a homemaker, mother and grandmother, she obtained a Business degree from TVI, was a member and past President of PEO, a charter member of NMMNH, and belonged to the Rio Grande Biological Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike T.D. Smith and Doris Jeanne Dowe Smith. Christine is survived by: her husband, Robert Nichols Stull Jr. of Albuquerque; son, Nick Stull (Jennifer) of Albuquerque; daughters, Melinda Moore (David) and Heather Johnson (Jeremiah) of Albuquerque; sisters: Janice Garcia (Nasario) of Santa Fe, Jeanne Freeman of Phoenix, AZ; and grandchildren: Henry Stull, Allan Moore, Caitlin Stull, Ian Stull, Tamara Moore, and Rhiannon Moore, all of Albuquerque. Christine felt privileged and proud to have her family and her family felt privileged and was proud to be able to call her Mom, wife, and Mamie. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 7 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 12 noon, also at St. John's. Interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery. SUITS -- Gordon Suits of Rio Rancho passed away on January 18, 2007. He was born February 10, 1918 in Jayton, TX to Arlie and Dollie Suits. He grew up in the Texas panhandle and graduated from Baylor University with a music degree. In 1938 he went to Dallas where he was an entertainer and singer on WFAA radio's the "Early Bird Show". A redhead, he was nicknamed "The Red Robin", and that along with the song became his trademark. He joined the Army in 1941 and in 1942 married Joan Thatcher of Plainview, TX. He served overseas as a 1st Lieutenant in the 100th Gen. Hospital unit. After the war he resumed his entertainment career, moved to Amarillo and worked for KGNC radio and television for many years. He received his Master's of education degree in 1960 and was choral director at Caprock High School in Amarillo until his retirement in 1981. Gordon loved traveling with his wife Joan and enjoyed many hobbies. During the last 11 years, his love of teaching compelled him to become a mentor for adult literacy. He was especially proud of his student, Marten Griego, whom he inspired to write a book, "Leaving the House of Tears". Gordon's mission was to make a positive difference in someone's life. He did for many through his music, teaching, humor and love of life. He will be greatly missed. He leaves his wife, Joan; daughter, Susan Dodge and husband, Steve; grandson, Brian Dodge and wife, Domi; and granddaughter, Melissa Dodge. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007, 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, Albuquerque, NM. TAPIA -- GOMISINDO Mr. Gomisindo Tapia, 99, was born on July 28, 1907, in San Jose, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque, NM. Mr Tapia passed away on January 21, 2007. He is survived by his niece, Guadalupe (Lupe) Ortiz and husband, Abedon; and many other extended family members. Visitation will be Thursday morning at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. by Los Hermanos de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., Father John Tourangeau, presider. WOLOWICZ -- Bertha Josephine Wolowicz was born December 26, 1915 in Mineola, NY to Florence and Frank Zalewski and made her transition to a new life on January 15, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM where she lived for over 50 years. She had a lively spirit and loved to ballroom dance and travel with her husband, Chester, who predeceased her by 30 years. She continued traveling after his death and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, sewing, crocheting, and visiting with friends. She lived and independent life until recently when her health began to fail. She was a life long Catholic and was very proud of her Polish heritage. She is survived by her two daughters, Joan Ellis of Santa Fe, and Kathleen Padilla of Albuquerque; and three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many dear relatives and friends around the country. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on January 26, 2007 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Vistacare Foundation, 5639 Jefferson NE, Albuquerque, 87109.
