ARAGON -- Viola Aragon went into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 25, 2006. Viola was the most loving, caring, and compassionate soul with a heart of gold. She deeply loved her husband, two daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, brother, sister, and also her very special god daughters. Viola was a fun loving prankster who loved life and brought endless joy to everyone whose lives she touched. She loved Disney movies, playing cards, Bingo, fishing, puzzles and Little House on the Prairie. We all loved her so very much and when she left this earth she took our hearts with her. We will love her always and miss her every moment of everyday. She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Darlene Mondragon and husband, Shawn, Judy Romero and husband, Adrian; grandchildren, LeRoy, Daniel, Jennifer, and Christopher; great-grandchildren Noah and Eli. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Candelaria; and sister, Teresa Navarro and her husband, Raymond; nephew, Raul; and her two special god daughters, Ronni Hillyard and Cynthia Brisbois. BESTGEN -- WALTER E. Col. Walter E. Bestgen, a member of the Greatest Generation, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2006. A native of Wichita, KS, Walter served his country as a P-38 pilot in North Africa. After the war, he returned home and married the spirited Viola Ageter. In their 63 years of marriage, Walter and Viola shared their love of adventure, travel and camping with their family. Nothing made him happier than a long day of motorcycling or waterskiing followed by a night of talking and joking around the campfire. Walter considered his greatest accomplishment to be his family, including his three children and six grandchildren. He always had the time and patience to listen to any real or perceived crisis, and would dispense the perfect hug or advice for any occasion. He leaves us a legacy of laughter, love and compassion. BRIDGERS -- John Dixon Bridgers II, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Friday, November 24, 2006 of congestive heart failure. He is survived by his two sons; John Dixon Bridgers III and wife, Anne of Jacksonville, FL and Donald Hamilton Bridgers and wife, Janet of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Jenny, Penny and Missy of Waco, TX, Blake, Ashley, Leslie, and Lucy of Jacksonville, FL, and Daniel and Aaron of Albuquerque, NM; several great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Young Bridgers; daughter, Cindy Stewart; and brothers, Frank Bridgers and Bill Bridgers. He was born on January 13, 1922 in Birmingham; AL. John was a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Business Administration. His first coaching job was during the Korean Conflict with the 1st Artilliary. He coached at University of the South in Sewanee, TN, at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and then for the Baltimore Colts as a defensive line coach, during the first NFL playoff in 1958 where the Colts won in overtime. John later coached and was athletic director at Baylor University in Waco, TX until 1968. In 1969 he was hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an offensive backfield coach during Chuck Knoll's first year. He went to the University of South Carolina in 1970 as offensive coordinator and then to Florida State University, as athletic director, in 1974. There he hired Bobby Bowden as head football coach who later won a NCAA National Championship. John moved to the University of New Mexico, as Athletic Director in 1979, when the Lobogate scandal was breaking and remained for eight years. In 1991 he was inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, and into the Florida State University Hall of Fame. John was a loving father and grandfather, devoted husband, and a mentor to his many football players. He maintained his many friendships as an avid golfer. CHAVEZ -- Lorraine D. Chavez, 58, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 26, 2006. She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, and was a member of the Catholic Church. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Lorenzo Chavez; one son, Martin J. Chavez and fiancee, Marie Miller; her precious granddaughter, Kayla Chavez; one sister, Emily Caraveo and husband, Enrique; brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, Theresa and Salomon Garcia, Dolores Calhoun, Pablo and Susie Chavez, John and Louisa Chavez; nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. HARTON -- Florence M. Harton, 82, of Chester, CT, formerly of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on November 22, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Rabakowicz) Harton. Florence was born on December 3, 1923 in Bayside, NY, grew up in Manhassett, NY and later moved to Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her nieces and their families, Linda and Steven Seferlis of Chester and Cathy Jane and Sumner Hunter of Flower Mound, TX; also a sister-in-law, Jane Coffrini of Green Acres, FL. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by her sister, Helen; and brothers, George, Frank, Julius, and Richard; and a nephew, Douglas. Florence worked for many years with the American Red Cross in Albuquerque and was active in civic organizations there. Her family, friends, and the many people she met through her work were the joy of her life. She will be missed. Service and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. KAZEK -- Chester Stephen Kazek Jr., age 80, born in Chicago, IL has left this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Chet married the love of his life, Margaret Jane, who preceded his death in 2003. They raised their family in Los Alamos, NM and retired to Albuquerque in 1983. Chet had a very fulfilling life. Besides providing for his family while working at the National Laboratory as a mathematician and scientist, his interests included judging dogs for obedience and tracking, competitive ping pong and bowling, sailing, motorcycle riding, traveling, and golfing. In 1971 he promoted the deaconate program and studied to become a Deacon. In 1972 he was ordained a Deacon and made Assistant Pastor. He devoted his deaconate ministry to the separated, divorced and widowed community. He is survived by his three children, Karen, Carol and Michael; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and many wonderful close friends. A Rosary Service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. MALDONADO -- Mauricio Maldonado was born November 27, 1932 in Chilili, NM. A longtime resident of Peralta, he passed away Sunday, November 26, 2006. Mauricio was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Maldonado and two children, Geraldine Maldonado Black and Morris Maldonado Jr. He is survived by his children, Lupe Turrietta and husband, Tom G. ROTHSCHILD -- Lois H. Rothschild, of Santa Fe, and formerly of Succasunna, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2006, at home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Rothschild is survived by her husband, Dr. William S. Rothschild of Santa Fe, NM; son, Andrew M. Rothschild of West Palm Beach, FL; son, Gary A. Rothschild of Pelham, NY; daughter, Phyllis Golnik of Carlisle, MA; seven grandchildren; mother, Shirley Daniels of Newton, MA; sister, Karen Barnett of Allendale, MA; and sister, Susan Daniels of Sharon, MA. Born in Boston, MA on January 4, 1941, Mrs. Rothschild married Dr. William S. Rothschild in 1961. After acquiring a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College and two Masters Degrees - one in Education from Seton Hall University and another in Special Education from Montclair State University - she went on to contribute greatly to the field of education in general. She became the founder and director of Randolph Educational Services in Randolph, NJ. She served as president of the NJ International Dyslexia Association, was a board member of the Southwest International Dyslexia Association, created the "World of Words" SAT preparatory DVD, created and produced the film "Creative Brains" (shown at the 2005 Santa Fe Film Festival), and was the recipient of a Gold Leaf on the Wall of Honor at the International Dyslexia Headquarters. Mrs. Rothschild also received a Distinguished Service Award in 2006 from the Southwest International Dyslexia Association. SANCHEZ -- Flora L. Sanchez went to be with the Lord and her Husband, Joe T. Sanchez November 25, 2006. Flora was born February 9, 1923 in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by daughter, Lupe Gonzales and husband, Leo Ray; son, Joe R. "Cokie" and wife, Belinda, and son, Felix and wife, Lorraine, all of Albuquerque. Flora is also survived by five granddaughters: Donna Gonzales and fiance, Harold Saiz, Bernadette Duran, Frances Garcia, Felicia Sanchez, and Dorinda Sanchez; and great-grandson, Micheal Duran, all of Albuquerque. She also leaves behind brother, Isidro Saavedra and wife, Alice; sister-in-law, Virginia Loranca; special nephew, Joseph Saavedra; and numerous nephews and nieces. Flora lived her life as a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend and was surrounded by her family at her time of passing. TAYLOR -- Norma Jeanne Dunning Taylor, 74, passed away at Presbyterian Hospital on Saturday, November 25, 2006, after a very long battle with cancer. Her doctors and their colleagues had long told her that her indomitable spirit and courage and the love of her family had carried her through the many surgeries, procedures and treatments these past 33 years. She simply refused to give in to it, and lived an active and productive life. In fact, just moments before she passed away she and her family were happily discussing her anticipated return home from the hospital. Norma was born in Cortez, CO on March 12, 1932 and had lived in Albuquerque for the past 55 years. She retired from the Sandia Corporation in 1984 and thoroughly enjoyed her retirement. For many years she was on the staff of the Sandia Lab News where she wrote many articles about interesting places, people and happenings in New Mexico. She was particularly interested in the Indian Pueblos of New Mexico and had made many lasting friendships with members of the Sandia Pueblo, especially her dear friend, Abbie Gutierrez. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Effie Snyder Dunning. Norma adored her family. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Russell; her daughter, Sandy Miller and husband, Gary of Dallas; her son, John Taylor and wife, Paula of Albuquerque; grandson, David Kuck and wife, Sheryl of Oceanside, CA; her granddaughter, Bri Taylor of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Justin Kuck of CA; sister, Maxine Melbourne and her husband, Ralph; niece, Nancy Archuleta and family; and nephew, Ralph P. Melbourne and family; and many dear cousins. Norma has been cremated and will be laid to rest next to her father and mother at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM. Graveside Services will be held there at 2:00 p.m. on Friday December 1, 2006, with the Reverend Edmund P. Ross officiating. Russ and/or Sandy or John had been constantly at Norma's side-loving her and caring for her throughout this last ordeal. TRUDELLE -- Ramona Ruth Trudelle, 75, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2006 after a hard fought battle with cancer. This world has lost a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a fine and loyal friend. She was a perfect model of unconditional love, and will be missed intensely by all who were blessed by her presence. Ramona was a long time resident of Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High in 1949 and is still in close contact with several of her classmates. She married in 1954 and was a model wife and mother and homemaker all of her life. She also had a full and successful career with Hooten Stahl Realtor for many years. Her modeling of unconditional love and fiercely loyal devotion to her family and friends will be sorely missed. Her boundless energy and ability to organize home and outside interests was truly remarkable. She was actively involved with LaMesa Presbyterian Church for many years and was valued for the service she gave. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends and missed very, very much by all who had the privilege to know her. We will all miss you. May you find the peace, happiness and the contentment you so richly deserve. We all love you. WAITE -- B. Eugene "Gene" Waite passed away unexpectedly and quietly Friday, November 24, 2006, in his home surrounded by the family he loved so much. He was born May 20, 1931, the youngest of six children in Butler, PA, to William and Margaret Waite. Gene was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Rio Rancho. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolly Waite; daughters, Kathryn Waite and Debra Siner; son-in-law, Randy Siner; grandson, Christian St. John and his wife, Monica St. John; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Brittney Neff. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Jack; and sisters, Marie, Ruth, and Janet. After a tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force, Gene attended Duquesne University graduating in 1956 with a degree in business administration. Gene was employed for many years in the aeronautics and defense systems contracting industry. He was employed in the 1960s as a contract manager for the Lockheed Corporation and in 1979 while working as the Financial Controller for the Sperry Corporation moved with his wife, Dolly, and daughter, Kathryn, to Albuquerque. His job took him all over the world and Gene and Dolly entertained guests in their home from many different countries. Gene and Dolly made life long friendships with people they met through Sperry whom they traveled with and spent many good times. Gene and Dolly loved to travel. They traveled extensively in the British Isles, Europe, and Mexico and toured the United States in their motor home. After retiring from Honeywell, Gene worked in the public sector holding the positions of Financial Director for the City of Rio Rancho and County Manager of Dona Ana County. Gene was a classic jazz enthusiast who enjoyed listening to the sounds of Stan Getz, Miles Davis, and Mel Torme. He studied tenor saxophone with the great jazz saxophonist Lee Konitz and taught himself to play piano by ear. "The Shadow of Your Smile" was Gene and Dolly's song. He will be remembered playing "Alfie" on the piano and singing 'What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" Gene enjoyed playing golf, reading, tinkering on the computer and in the garage, going to auctions, and watching his favorite football team, the Pittsburg Steelers. Gene developed a passion for fishing and the outdoors and the family spent many weekends camping and fishing in northern New Mexico and Colorado. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Chris. Gene loved children and animals. He was always present at daughter Kathryn's equestrian events and soccer games. He had a great sense of humor right up to his last days and was notorious for coming up with his own punch lines. He will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten. A Memorial Rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 1502 Sara Road in Rio Rancho. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 30, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish with burial to take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. WEINER -- Albert A. Weiner, 92, died Monday, November 27, 2006. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruham;a and his children, Karen, Daniel, and Sarah (Vicki). He is survived by his sister; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2006, at Congregation Albert Cemetery (Fairview Memorial Park) 700 Yale Blvd. NE, with Rabbi Joseph Black officiating. Mr. Weiner was a pilot and a veteran of WWII. He was a CPA for a number of years until he joined his wife's business "Ruhama's Yarn and Fabric," in Milwaukee, WI, which they ran together for over 20 years.
