ALBERT -- Sarah S. Albert, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for over 20 years, died September 30, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Milton Peak; daughter, Diane LaBar and husband, Sam; one grandchild, Michelle D. Sanchez and husband, Doug; two great-grandchildren, Deanna and Eric; brother, Dr. James H. Simonton and wife, Delores; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Ned Simonton; father, Dr. James Edward Simonton; and mother, Jewell Simonton. Sarah was born in Abbeville, AL and was graduated from Abbeville High School in 1941. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from Huntingdon College in 1946. Sarah was a school teacher throughout her life in Alabama, Florida, and Ohio. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She loved to sing, play the piano, and volunteer for various church work and activities. Cremation has taken place and per Sarah's wishes, no services will take place. BUTLER -- William A (Bill) Butler, 77, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alma Butler of Los Lunas; two daughters, Linda Stewart, Barbara Keys and husband, Glenn; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Butler retired from Albuquerque Public Schools after 26 years as a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. He served his country in the United States Navy. Bill was an active member at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church. CARROLL -- GEORGE B. Col. George B. Carroll, Sr. USAF Retired, 87 years of age, resident of Albuquerque since 1985, died September 29, 2006. He is survived by his sister, Calista Asevica, of Waterbury, CT; son, Dr. George B. Carroll, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Corrales, NM. The Colonel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn. He was a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church and a past member of the Lions Club. Col. Carroll served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and was stationed at Air Force bases around the world. After retiring from the Air Force, he and Evelyn lived in Middlebury, CT for 15 years and then moved to La Luz Del Sol in Albuquerque to be near their son, George. HOLMES -- Glenn W. Holmes, 90, longtime resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully September 26, 2006. He is survived by his sisters, Evelyn Blosser and husband, Mason, of Port Clinton, OH, and Virginia Wiger and husband, Sam of Tipton, GA. He is Beloved father of Glenn C. Holmes and wife, Judy, Kenneth D. Holmes and Dede von Kleist, all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. HOWES -- REV. DR. ROY ELISHA At age 86 was called home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2006. He died peacefully with family at his bedside in Auburn, WA. Roy was born March 6, 1920 in the ranching country of Pierre, SD. Roy and his sister, Mona, were raised on a cattle ranch near Midland and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Roy's family moved to Spokane, WA where he attended Knox Presbyterian Church. In Spokane, he graduated from North Central High School and then earned his Bachelor's degree from Whitworth College. While attending Whitworth he preached every Sunday at Asotin Presbyterian Church in Washington and also met Evelyn Gibbs whom he then married. Roy and his wife moved to San Francisco Theological Seminary where in 1945, he received his Masters in Theology with Honors. Roy served on the Board of Trustees for Whitworth College and later granted the Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Whitworth. In the same year he was called to pastor the Magnolia Presbyterian Church in Seattle, WA, building a new sanctuary during his 5-year ministry. From 1950 to 1960 Roy accepted the Senior pastor position of Millwood Presbyterian Church. Roy then accepted the Senior pastorate at Albuquerque First Presbyterian Church in 1960 and then went to the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins, CO. Following remarriage to Judy Boyd, Roy and his wife moved to Boise, ID where Roy served for five years as Senate State Legislative Chaplain in Boise, ID, and pastored the First Presbyterian Church there in 1970. From 1976 to 1982 he founded and pastored an independent church, Boise Valley Christian Communion. In 1990 Roy retired and received honorable recognition for his service and Christian Ministry from Presbytery of the West, Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Roy moved to Renton, WA in 1992 near his eldest daughter and her family. During this time, Roy continued to be in various active ministries such as Breakthrough Intercessory Prayer. Roy's love for the outdoors evolved around hunting and fishing in Washington, New Mexico, and Idaho, fishing the Spokane river, and hiking in the Colorado Mountains, often shared with his children and grandchildren. He spoke fondly of summers spent in the Black Hills of South Dakota where President Calvin Coolidge lifted him off his feet at the Mount Rushmore dedication. Roy always kept before him and deep in his heart this principle of the Word of God: "God never asks about our ability, or inability, but about our availability." He never hesitated to point others towards relying upon Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and older sister, Roy is survived by his second wife and five children: Sharon Pierce, her spouse and grown children in Seattle, WA, Milton Howes, his spouse and two children in Boise, ID, Roberta Robinson, her spouse and three children in Tulsa, OK, Phillip Howes, his spouse and daughter in Rowe, NM, and David Howes, his wife and two children in Albuquerque, NM, and beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the nursing and medical staff of Auburn Regional Medical Center who graciously, compassionately and professionally assisted Roy and his family during his last days. Family and friends will gather at Millwood Presbyterian Church, Washington for a Memorial Service Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.

HUFF -- Louise G. Huff, 98, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 29, 2006. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann Vallefuoco of Downey, CA and Theresa J. Wood of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Davis Huff, Sr.; and her son, Clarence Davis Huff, Jr. She was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Christian Women's Club. Mrs. Huff held several offices and positions in her church and community. She was very proud to be the wife of a Mason. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. IRWIN -- Charles Douglas Irwin, age 71, died on Sunday, October 1, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. Charles was born December 25, 1934 in Ada, OK, and went on to complete his Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degrees at the University of Oklahoma, along with Post-Doctoral work at UCLA. During his distinguished career as a respected scholar and educator he held numerous faculty and administrative posts. He began his career on the teaching faculty at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. In 1963, he joined the faculty of Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, later becoming Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Business. During his tenure, the Small Business Institute, the Women in Management Program, and the Technological Innovation Center were created at ENMU. Charles was also an active member of the Roosevelt County community working with the Red Cross, the United Fund and the Chamber of Commerce. In 1988, Dr. Irwin was named Professor of Management at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and in 2000 he retired as Professor Emeritus. Following retirement, he and wife Biddye made their new home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Charles will be lovingly remembered for his genuine warmth and love of family, for his dedication as an educator and mentor, and for his boundless intellectual curiosity that embraced everything from the science of management, to the art of auto mechanics, to the culinary wonder of peanut butter on ice cream. Charles Irwin is survived by his wife, Biddye Juanita Irwin of Albuquerque, NM; his mother, Grace Love Danley of Oklahoma City, OK; sons, Christopher Douglas Irwin of Corpus Christi, TX and Charles Drew Irwin of Palm Springs, CA; grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Irwin of Texico, NM and Charles David Irwin of El Paso, TX; and one sister, Deana Palmer of Oklahoma City, OK. JARAMILLO -- Julian James Jaramillo, age 54, was taken up into the arms of God on the afternoon of Friday, September 22, 2006. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jerri Jaramillo; and his father, Julian Jaramillo. He is survived by his loving wife, Paula; his brother, Tony Mondragon; and his mother, Belle Mondragon; who were all at his side when he peacefully left this world. He is also survived by his father, Roberto Mondragon; his two children, Danielle and Julian Jr.; and many loving nephews, and nieces. Julian worked both in the corporate world, and had owned several restaurants. He most recently worked for Santa Fe County Bureau of Elections. The one thread, other than his beloved children, that tied his life together was his two arts, painting and cooking. Julian could take mere leftovers out of the fridge and make a gourmet meal in minutes! When he was not cooking, he was painting small, intimate landscapes of his home state, New Mexico. ORTIZ Y PINO DE KLEVEN -- Maria Concepcion Ortiz y Pino, known as the Grande Dame of New Mexico, died in the early morning hours on September 30, 2006 from complications of pneumonia. Concha was born in the village of Galisteo in 1910, two years before New Mexico was to become the 47th state of the union. Her family has been politically active and instrumental in shaping the history of New Mexico for the past three hundred years. For almost a century, with a persona larger than life, she aided legions of people through her active involvement in both local and national politics. During her lifetime 19 New Mexico governors and six U.S. presidents, as well as countless state and national politicians knew her by her nickname, "Concha." Her political career began in 1933 when she was 21. She set out through rural New Mexico with Senator Dennis Chavez as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt's presidential campaign reaching out to Spanish-speaking voters in rural New Mexico, aiding in his election and the "New Deal Era" which helped bring an end to the Great Depression. It was this first political experience which whetted Concha's appetite for politics leading to her lifelong advocacy for the poor and disabled. In 1941 she received the national distinction of becoming the first female Whip of a state legislature, when she was elected to that position in the 15th New Mexico state legislature. During her lifetime she served on more than 60 state and national boards. Concha was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Pablita; brothers, Frank and Josesito; sisters, Josefita, Margaret and Mela; brother-in-law, Robert H. Martin; and husband, Victor Kleven. She is survived by nephew, Jose Ortiz y Pino III; first cousin, Pedro Ortiz y Pino; and niece, Alice Gomez; grand-nieces and -nephews, Susan Varela, Steve Gomez, Francie Miles, Carla Gomez, Maria Ortiz y Pino, Jose Ortiz y Pino IV; cousins, Gerald Ortiz y Pino, Michael Ortiz y Pino, Loretta Ortiz y Pino, Paul Ortiz y Pino, Ron Ortiz Dinkel, Judt Hasted, Artuto Ortiz, Nelson Ortiz, Margo Ortiz y Davis, Maria Ortiz y Davis Catanach; and at least three generations of nieces and nephews. Concha also leaves behind many devoted friends in New Mexico and around the world. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at 8:00 p.m., at St. Charles Church in Albuquerque. On Thursday a Rosary will be recited in Santa Fe at the Santuario de Guadalupe at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe followed by interment Services at Rosario Cemetery. PADILLA -- Anastacio T. Padilla, born April 22, 1925, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 in Albuquerque at the age of 81. Mr. Padilla was an Army veteran and served during World War II. He was preceded in death by his children, Bennie Romero, Bill Padilla, and Bonnie Romero. He is survived by his wife, Katie Padilla; siblings, Pete Padilla, Barbara Benavidez, and Antonia Delgado; children, Albino Padilla and wife, Barbara, Susan Monteczuma and husband, Reynaldo, Victor Padilla, Irene Serna and husband, Anthony, and Joe Padilla; grandchildren, Joyce, June, Mark, Paul, Adrian, Larry, Jose, Vanessa, Cecilia, Manuel, Dominique, and Jessica; and 24 great-grandchildren. REIDY -- Lois Miller Reidy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away September 28, 2006 at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 5, 1918 outside Wataskiwin, Alberta, Canada to Louise and Verne Miller. The family moved to Oklahoma and in 1929 to Albuquerque where she attended Lincoln Jr. High and Albuquerque High School, graduating in 1936. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed her time in the support of her children's school and sport activities. Lois proudly worked for the Legal Aid Society of Albuquerque for sixteen years and served on the Judicial Standards Committee for many years. She was a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Robert Reidy and her granddaughter, Leslie Louise McDonnell. Lois is survived by her children, Lois Eileen Reidy-Richardson, Dr. Robert Reidy and wife, Kathy, Richard Reidy and wife, Dianne, and Tim Reidy and companion, Linda Schaeffer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Pammela Wynn, Robert Bradley McDonnell, Marcella Stevens, John Strader, Matthew Strader, Dr. Kristin Reidy, Tim Reidy, Kaitlin Reidy, Lauren Reidy, John Reidy, and Robert Reidy; sixteen great-grandchildren; her step-mother, Jewel Kaufman and husband, Edward; and many nieces and nephews. The family is deeply appreciative of family and friends who provided comfort and support to Lois, with special thanks to her granddaughter, Pammela Wynn and to her dear friend, Carlotta Gonzales. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Paul E. Pierce, Dr. Lorraine Sanchez and Hospice. SILER -- Melvin Melvin Michael Siler July 14, 1976-October 3, 1986 Dear Lord Jesus, We want to thank you for allowing us to have Melvin for ten years. WOLFRAM -- Jack Evert Wolfram was born in Detroit, MI, July 24, 1935. He passed away at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Saturday, September 30, 2006. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Jack always enjoyed being involved in family activities. He was a Cub Scout Master and loved taking the family to the lake and going on many other outings together. He was an accomplished Draftsman, Designer and Builder. He drafted many buildings and structures as well as enjoyed building airplanes, cars, boats, and models of wood. Jack's priorities were God, Family and Country.
