BACA -- Rose Tapia Baca was born August 3, 1910 in Albuquerque. She passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the age of 96. Mrs. Baca was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablita Dimas and Ismael Tapia and by her husband, Samuel J. Baca. Mrs. Baca is survived by her two daughters, Valentina Pauline Baca and Adele Hundley and her husband, Tom; two granddaughters, Arlene Cinelli Odenwald and her husband, Ralph, Martha Cinelli Jones and her husband, Duke Forrest Jones; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Marie Jones and Samuel Forrest Jones. BUCK -- Joseph J. "Joe" Buck, 84, went home to be with his Lord on September 11, 2006. He was born in Waterloo, IA on September 10, 1922. Having finished high school, he interrupted his college studies to serve his country during World War II as an ambulance driver and hospital orderly. After an honorable discharge, Joe received a Bachelor's Degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1949. He met Mae Soucek in El Paso, they were married in 1954. Joe worked in the insurance industry after college and later retired from the City of Albuquerque water department. Joe was an avid golfer throughout his life. He was a long time member of Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque and a beloved member of the Seniors Ministry "Silver Saints". Joe was preceded in death by Mae, his wife of 49 years and son, Jody. He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Gorman, husband, Bill; grandchildren, Katie and William of Grand Folks, ND; daughter, Cyndi Dorl, husband, Dave, grandchildren, Bethany, Arthur, and Deborah of Albuquerque. Services will be held at Calvary Chapel on October 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the Service will be Pastor Skip Heitzig. CANDELARIA -- Ramon Candelaria died Friday, September 15, 2006 in Albuquerque at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Rosa Candelaria. Ramon is survived by his sister, Ella Montoya and brothers, Tom Candelaria and wife, Rosie, Joe A. Candelaria, James Candelaria, and Eloy Candelaria and wife, Terri. CARRILLO -- Dominic (Nico) Paul Carrillo, age 26, beloved son, father, Companion, was called to his heavenly home by the Lord our Savior, Saturday, September 16, 2006. Dominic was a life long resident of Albuquerque, and member of the Catholic Church. He was always a happy go lucky kind of guy, with a great sense of humor; he was the peacemaker of the family, always making sure everyone was getting along. Dominic enjoyed car shows and especially spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers, Marcelino Dubois, and Meliton Carrillo. Dominic is survived by his precious children, Julian D. and Annaleise N. Carrillo; his loving parents, Paul and Theresa Carrillo; his loving long-time companion, Sara Masi; his paternal grandmother, Adelaida (Ida) Carrillo; maternal grandmother, Susan Landavazo; and numerous family members; and a host of friends. Dominic will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Final viewing will be today from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. COULSON -- Martha Gallegos Coulson, 66, of Albuquerque, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital after an extended illness. She was born September 29, 1939 in Santa Fe, NM. Martha was a long-time resident of New Mexico and employee of the Wyndham Hotel for 30 years where she had many friends. In her free time, Martha was devoted to spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her long-time companion, Joe Quintana; son, Mike Coulson; daughter-in-law, Lourdes Camarena-Coulson; son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Sandy Coulson; grandchildren, Andrea, Crystal, and Emily Coulson; stepmother, Peggy Martin; brother, Herman Gallegos; brother, Gilbert Segura and wife, Naomi. She is also survived by her companions, Rufus, Sasha, and Fluffy. DETMER -- Richard C Detmer went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 18, 2006. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Sue Foster and his son, Mark Richard Detmer. He is sorely missed by his wife, Ruth; his daughters, Lisa Foster and husband, Bob, Jill Detmer, Joyce Lesperance and husband, Larry; and son, Todd Detmer and wife, Brenda. He was blessed with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was the former owner of Sparetime Ltd. Flowers and Dick Detmers Designs in Silk. His passion in life was for the Lord Jesus Christ and ministry to inmates. He was ever appreciative of the beauty and grandeur of God's creation. DEVLIN -- Edward R. Devlin, 79, of Albuquerque, NM, passed peacefully September 14, 2006. Preceded by wife, Beatrice, his soul mate and 3rd grade sweetheart. Ed and Bee had a love for life and traveled extensively. He will be missed ay all who knew him. Dad had an opinion on everything and was never afraid to share it. He was also very generous to all that were close to him. Survived by son, Tim and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque; Tom Devlin and grandson, Michael of Phoenix, AZ. DUGAN -- Joseph "Joe" Dugan, "King of the Road", 67, a resident of Farmington, NM since 1967, died Friday, September 15, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Dugan; daughter, Liz Jacobs and husband, Mitch; son, Joseph Timothy Dugan, all of Farmington; grandchildren, Seaman Autumn Killgore, stationed in Norfolk, VA, Joseph Killgore of Portsmouth, VA, Amber Killgore, Summer Popplewell, and Christopher Hutchinson, all of Farmington; sister, Gloria A. Scarcell of Albuquerque; brother, John W. Dugan and wife, Ann of Downey, CA; aunt, Frances Van Kirk of Albuquerque; and a large extended family. Mr. Dugan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dennis M. Scarcell. He owned and operated Dugan Trucking until he retired in 2000. Joseph was a member of Kirtland Catholic Center. He had been a champion sprint car racer. FLORES -- ISOLA U. Ms. Isola U. Flores, 65, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 19, 2006. Isola is survived by three loving children, Rosie Pacheco and husband, Vidal, Armando Riboni and wife, Julie, Jovie Riboni and girlfriend, Anna Tarntino; two brothers, Ray and Julian Flores; five grandchildren, Rosalie, Victoria, Veronica, Edwina, and Isaac; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Ursula Flores; her brother, Carlos Flores; and her sister-in-law, Florence Flores. FORTNER -- Dorothy Fortner joined her husband in the Kingdom of Heaven Saturday evening a few months short of her 80th birthday. She led a full life. Born in Canada, Dorothy's family then moved to Detroit, MI. In her early 20s she lived in India where her father worked for Chrysler Corporation. After Dorothy's return she met Norman Fortner in Detroit, eventually moving to Columbia, MO where daughter, Sally was born. Dorothy moved to New Mexico in 1966 for the benefits of the dry climate. She was the office manager for Dr. Bennett and Dr. John Roberts for more than 20 years. In retirement she enjoyed reading, gardening, and her dog and cats. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Bart Koerner; sisters, Ann, Rose, Bette, Shirley, Pinky; numerous friends; and her little dog, Marc Anthony. GAYNOR -- Agnes Gaynor, 82, born in Doylestown, PA to parents Harry D. Gerhart and Minnie Hupp, died on Monday, September 18, 2006. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, and is survived by her sons: Dennis Gaynor and wife, Becky and Jim Gaynor and wife, Toni; daughters, Kathleen Brady of Portland, OR, Joan Gaynor of Torrance, CA, and Patricia Lloyd and husband, Brian of Torrance, CA; grandchildren, Christopher Gaynor, Michael Gaynor and wife, Sheri, Lauren Lloyd, Joseph Lloyd, Matthew Gaynor and Rahanon Elsen; and great-granddaughter, Felicia Elsen; and sister, Doris Coggiola of Warminster, PA. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and brother, Buddy Gerhart. She was fully dedicated to her beloved husband of 61 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Our family has been blessed and enriched by her love, faith, wisdom, creativity and sense of humor. Agnes was a gifted artist and lived her life to the fullest. During her high school years she was the Captain of her Rifle Team and later she loved to paint, draw, knit, crochet, and travel to Spain and Portugal with her husband, Joseph. Agnes loved animals and art and was a volunteer at the Animal Humane Society and the Art Gallery. Agnes and Joseph were members of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. IDEN -- Robert Earl "Bob" Iden, 80, passed away September 14, 2006. He was born on December 15, 1925 in Albuquerque. He joined the Navy following high school and served during World War II. He met his wife, Pamela, following the war and they were married on January 30, 1952. Robert earned two masters degrees from UNM in biology and administration. He taught in schools across Albuquerque for thirty-two years and continued educating others even after retirement with homework help, science fair project ideas, and love. Robert was an avid photographer who captured the scenes he saw in life for others to share. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and attended St. John's Cathedral. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, their daughter, Robin, and two grandchildren, Mark and Amy. Services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at The Cathedral Church of St. John. JORDAN -- Alexander Jordan, age 31, a longtime resident of Albuquerque's Westside, was killed in action, while honorably serving his country while in Iraq, on September 10, 2006. Alex attended New Mexico Military Institute and Cibola High School. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in September, 2003 and was a member of Company B, 4th Battalion, Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 23rd Infantry Regiment. Alex is survived by his wife, Tiffany Jordan of Anchorage, AK; father, Robert Jordan and his wife. Cynthia, of Rio Rancho; mother, Candace Jordan of Miami, FL; sister, Lacey Jordan; brother, Rey Jordan; sister, Christina Jordan, and Nic Condon, all of Albuquerque; and grandmother, Polly Cane of Clearwater, FL. MARTIN -- Velma Etta Martin celebrated 85 loving years with her family and friends and passed on early Friday morning, September 15, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Bob Martin; her sister; one aunt; four brothers, three daughters, Clara Jacobson and husband, Rich of Billings, MT, Angela Wrenn of Daytona Beach, FL, and Julie Bencoe and husband, Mike of Albuquerque; beloved son, Robert Martin of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Velma was born July 15, 1921 in Osage, OK and graduated from Osage High school. She attended Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, OK. Velma worked as an Aircraft Communicator for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Oklahoma City and then was transferred to Albuquerque where she met our daddy and became a mother and homemaker. She was also a data processor for the Civil Service Commission in Albuquerque. Velma was a member of Netherwood Park Church of Christ and enjoyed quilting with the ladies from church. Our mom lived a life of love and sacrifice and will be greatly missed by friends and family. MARTINEZ -- Mark A. Martinez went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 12, 2006 in Phoenix, AZ due to complications associated with the injuries he suffered when his car crashed during a race at the Albuquerque National Dragway on September 2, 2006. Mark was 34 years old. Mark was an excellent mechanic, engineer, musician and race car driver. He is survived by his father, John D. Martinez; his mother, Linda J. Martinez; his sister, Jonlyn Martinez Loveless; his brother-in-law, Brett R. Loveless; his nieces, Julia and Olivia; and all of his wonderful extended family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Mark, we will miss your handsome face, your talented, strong hands and your beautiful spirit. PADILLA -- Annette E. (November 2, 1954 to September 17, 2006) The family of Annette E. Padilla would like to place their daughter in our loving Lord's hands. Annette was preceded in death by her father, David Valdez Sr.; husband, Danny Padilla; and brother, Andrew Valdez. Annette is survived by her mother, Ida Valdez; two daughters, Eileen and Dana; one son-in-law, Erasmo II; one daughter-in-law, Carmen; two grandsons, Erasmo III and Demitrio; two sisters, Helen and Bertha; two brothers, David and Ted; and numerous nephews and nieces. RAY -- Alice Ray, age 84, went home to her Lord Jesus Christ on September 17, 2006. While visiting family in Colorado, she became ill and passed away, surrounded by her loving family. Alice Josephine was born to Sam Houston and Laura Mae (Wofford) Alexander on May 14, 1922, in Camp Crook, SD. Her family moved back to New Mexico when she was eight years old and she spent much of the rest of her life as a New Mexico resident. Alice married William Horace Ray on December 4, 1939 and they raised four children together. Alice was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joys were her family and her Lord. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Alice and her family spent much time in the outdoors, camping and hunting. She also enjoyed gardening and painting. Her family will always treasure the quilts and embroidery she created for them. Alice is survived by her husband of 66 years, William; her children, Dick Ray and his wife, Vimmie of Pagosa Springs, CO, Jeanette Angus and her husband, Charles of Washougal, WA, Rodney Ray and his wife, Debbie of Pagosa Springs, and Sam Ray and his wife, Susan of Quemado, NM; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and numerous friends. ROYBAL -- Connie Roybal, 85, passed away September 17, 2006. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Stephens and husband, Sam, Estelle Baca and husband, Max; and daughter-in-law, Alma Roybal; grandchildren, Mark Stephens, Kevin Stephens, Kim Baca, Tim Baca, Carol Roybal, Lillian Peralta, and Melissa Becerra; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and lots of close friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited that same evening at San Jose Parish at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at San Jose Parish, interment will follow the Mass and will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Baca, Milton Hernandez, Zack Baca, Luis Becerra, Anthony Baca, and Barry Cosgrove. SENA -- Lola Sena, age 92, beloved mother and grandmother, was called to her heavenly home by the Lord, Monday, September 18, 2006. She was a lifelong resident of Alameda, and a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. Lola was also a member of the Felician Sisters Auxiliary, as well as the Extension Club and Quilters Club; she was a Blue Ribbon recipient for her beautiful quilts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Sena; sons-in-law, Bennie Garcia and Ray Gutierrez; and her beloved grandson, David Garcia whom she raised. Lola is survived by her loving children, Dora Martinez and husband, Polo, Miguel Sena Jr. and wife, Margaret, Jeanette Gutierrez, and Jerry Sena and wife, Linda; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and other family members and a host of friends. Lola will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Visitations will be today (Wednesday) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Sena, Matthew Sena, Michael Sena, Rick Velarde, Derrick Velarde, and Gary Long. SWINNEY -- Donald Swinney, 73, a resident of Albuquerque died, Monday, September 18, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Michael and wife, Laura of Richmond, TX and Charles and wife, Sena of Albuquerque; daughter, Sherry Clark and husband, Milt of Fruitland, NM; stepdaughters, Tammy Branch and husband, Ed of Albuquerque, Sherry Parrish of Oklahoma City; brothers, Verle Swinney and wife, Dorothy of San Jose, CA, Bill Swinney and wife, Linda of Amarillo, TX; sister, Virginia Cordova and husband, Art of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ethel Brown of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don served his country in the Navy and then retired from Creamland Dairies after many years of distinguished service. He had many interests and hobbies and really enjoyed playing golf with his brother, Verle and friend, Harry Shearer. He also enjoyed his John Wayne movies while eating dessert. Above all, Don was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his loving family. Services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. WICKHAM -- Betty (Elizabeth) Eleanor Wickham, 86, a resident of Mesa, AZ since 2001, and a 34 year resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, September 17, 2006. Mrs. Wickham was the widow of Frank A. Wickham of Albuquerque, GMC District Manager retiree, and U.S. Military Veteran. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Lynn (Wickham) Reinken and husband, Alan Reinken of Scottsdale, AZ; and her son, Brian Lee Wickham of Roseburg, OR; grandchildren, Brooke Reinken of Scottsdale, AZ and David Reinken and wife, Denise Reinken of Lodi, CA. Mrs. Wickham was an active member of Beta Sigma Pi and a member of the Saint John's United Methodist Church of Albuquerque. In her free time, she enjoyed her bridge group, cribbage, gardening and most of all Uncle Charlie's Rummy. She will forever be known as a mother to all and a loving soul. WRIGHT -- Thomas J. "Tom" Wright, age 74, of Albuquerque, died peacefully in his home, Sunday, September 17, 2006 after his battle with cancer. Tom retired in 1972 from the Air Force after more than 20 years of service. While serving in Vietnam, he earned the Bronze Star Medal. After retirement, he became a dedicated instructor of electronics at Albuquerque TVI. Tom was a lifelong blood donor, having donated regularly for more than 30 years. Over the past several years, he and Violet greatly enjoyed their RV club and the many trips that they took together. He loved teaching, golfing with his retiree friends on Tuesdays and gardening. Mostly, he loved his family, often attending his grandchildren's many activities. Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Violet; two daughters, Vanessa Ham and Marilyn Hogland and her husband Mike; grandchildren, Nicole and Michael Ham, and Kacey and Kyle Hogland; sister, Lois Erickson and husband George of Bricktown, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 22, 2006 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at French Mortuary Westside Chapel. ZURLIS -- Louis (Lou) J. Zurlis, age 92, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006. He was born in Nashua, NH on January 1, 1914 of Lithuanian Parentage; he graduated from Becker College in Worcester, MS and moved to Burlington, VT, where he taught accounting for fives years and where he met and married Helen Forville in 1936. They had four children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They moved to Metuchen, NJ where Lou worked at Johnson and Johnson Corporate Offices, where he made budget procedures as used by Johnson and Johnson, he was Plant Comptroller in New Brunswick, NJ; later transferred to Dallas, TX. He retired from Peat Mariwick Mitchell in Dallas, TX in 2003. Lou was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in East Orange, NJ where he was past Grand Knight, as well as in Metuchen, NJ. Lou and Helen relocated to Albuquerque in 2003. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Helen Forville Zurlis; his children, James Zurlis and wife, Jude of Richardson, TX, Ann Poynter and husband, Herbert of Albuquerque, Katheleen Hamilton and husband, Richard of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Marilyn Buckley and husband, Pat also, of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Pauline Vernocie of Worcester, MS. A Memorial Service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Laurel View Health Care Center, 5900 Forest Hills Dr. NE.
