ARMSTRONG -- Jimmie R. Armstrong, 77, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Friday, August 25, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAn F. Armstrong of the family home; children, James A. Armstrong, Donna M. Armstrong, Vernon R. Armstrong and wife, Pandora and Kathleen A. Prewitt and husband, Jack; ten grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many cousins and friends. Jimmie was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Russell and Lydia Armstrong. He retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service and was a past commander of the American Legion Post 13. Jimmie was an avid Lobo basketball fan and has had season tickets for years. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at First Congregational Church, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. CHAVEZ -- Katherine (Katie) Chavez, 80, died on Sunday. She was the matriarch of the family and will be missed dearly. Her devotion to family and friends will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fidel Chavez; and brothers, Antonio, Warren, Rueben, Willie, Veto (Albert), and Tomas Sanchez. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her sons, Steven E. Apodaca and wife, Liz, James Apodaca and wife, Katherine; daughters, Elizabeth (Janet) Garcia Lobato and husband, Joe, and Diana Pacheco; sisters, Helen Lovato and husband, Faustino, Isabel Sanchez, and Marcella Quintana and husband, Joe; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A visitation for Mrs. Chavez will be Tuesday from 3 - 5 p.m. in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE). Rosary will be Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Life Celebration Mass will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. GALBISO -- David "Day" Simplicio Galbiso, born March 14, 1987, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away unexpectedly on August 25, 2006. Day possessed a natural smile, easy going spirit, and a genuine heart full of love for all. He aspired to become a firefighter by attending Central NM Community College. Day loved soccer and was soon to begin playing soccer with the team Los Indios. Day is loved by his parents, David and Judy Galbiso; brothers and sisters, Regina, Mark, Lela, Joey, Davina, Ricardo and Eric; nieces and nephews, Kyannah, Mark Eythan, Nathan, Amanda, Ray, Ariana, Aalani, Jonas, Jason, Jacob, Joshua, Jenna, and Jamie; grandparents, Rollie and Mary Jane Rodriguez and Josephine Galbiso-Stevens; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and many wonderful, dear friends. HAURY -- Frederick Wilhelm Haury Jr., 83, passed away August 25, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Helena, AR to Frederick Wilhelm Haury, Sr. and Mary Ellen Kinney Haury on April 24, 1923. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Haury Hutchison of Indiana and Magdalena Haury Carl of Missouri; a brother, Waldron Haury of California. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn McGarity Haury of Conway, AR ; two sisters, Anna Christine Haury Bell of Albuquerque, NM and Teresa Louise Haury Caple of North Little Rock, AR; and many nieces and nephews. He was a World War II veteran with the 20th Army Air Force, 444 Bomber Group, 678 Bomb Squadron in the South Pacific; he retired from the FAA as a supervisor in Electronics and Engineering. He was a genealogist, and author of the following books, "ABC's of Round Dancing", "Thomas David Descendants", "F.W. Haury Family Tales", "Jakob Haury Descendants", and "Frederick Wilhelm Haury, Jr., Autobiography". Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lonoke. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at North Little Rock. HEARN -- Louise "Peg" Hearn, age 76, passed away in her sleep after a short battle with cancer on August 26, 2006. She was a loving caring wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, laughing, and sports. Her favorite teams were the Detroit Lions and Pistons. She will be missed dearly especially on Sunday and Monday night. She was preceded in death by her daughters Donna Hearn and Vicki Klaren; and her loving husband, Gene Hearn. She is survived by her son, Bob Hearn and daughter-in-law, Carol; two grandchildren, Krystal and Kim; and her three great-grandchildren, Merissa, Isaac, and Shyann. She is also survived by brothers, Jack and wife, Ann, Don and wife, Bev, and Jim and wife, Rhonda; along with numerous other relatives. LIGHTLE -- Fern V. Lightle, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, NM for the past four years and a former resident of Prescott, AZ for 27 years, died Saturday, August 26, 2006. She is survived by her five sons, Paul David Lightle and wife, Millie of Corrales, NM, Charles Craig Lightle of Tijeras, NM, Mark L. Lightle and wife, Margie of Farmington, NM, Calvin Brian Lightle of Albuquerque, NM, and Kim L. Lightle and wife, Sheryl of Tijeras, NM; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth Vermillion of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Paul C. Lightle. Fern was a graduate of Arizona State University and later became a member of the Mountain Artists Guild and Yavapai Women in the Arts. LOPEZ -- Dale James Lopez died August 27, 2006 in a car accident at the very young age of 20. Dale will be greatly missed by his parents, Joy and Daniel Lopez; his sister, Kim and brother, Jason. At a gathering at the family home to bring comfort to Joy and Danny were Dale's grandparents, Vidal and Cecilia Lopez of Veguita, NM, Gil Cordova, and Nellie Cordova. Uncles, aunts, cousins and friends created a steady stream of people who came to bring comfort to the grieving parents and to remember Dale as a gentle, loving, kind and generous person. We thank God for the very short time that He so generously allowed us with Dale, he will be in our hearts the rest of our lives. Dale graduated from Sandia High School in 2004 where he played varsity football for four years. He was selected for the All Metro team in his Junior year. He loved all sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys Football team and was looking forward to the start of the season. He was employed with HEI where he was recognized as a hard working and valued employee. Memorial Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE. LUCERO -- Ernest Lucero, 76, went home to be with the Lord on August 24, 2006. He was born on November 7, 1929, to Apolonio and Filicita Lucero in Antonchico, New Mexico. Ernest was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed walking, going out to eat, and going out the see the horse races. He also loved building homes and laying brick. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Ramon, Milton, Juan, and Herman Lucero; also by his four sisters, Ignacita and Eufamia Lucero, Rebecca Marez, and Rita Jaramillo. Ernest is survived by Rick Espalin and wife, Jeanne and family, Nora Lucero, Lena Martinez, Tony Jaramillo, Anthony Chavez and wife, Theresa and family, Beatrice Lucero, Juanita Lucero, Tony Marez and wife, Grace, Rick Jr. Espalin and wife, Mande and family, Steven Espalin, Pete Marez, Zeke Espalin and wife, Victoria, Juanita Lucero and husband, Dicky, Isaac Jaramillo, Eric Chavez, Velli Chavez, Cindy Marez, Kathy Marez, Raymond Jaramillo, Ivan Chavez and wife, Lucille; nieces, Mercy Lucero, Jennifer Lucero, and Jeanette Ward; and by nephew, Anthony Jaramillo. RODRIGUEZ -- Juan S. Rodriguez Jr., age 75, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Angie of Albuquerque; two daughters, Glora and Mary Lou; a son, Richard of California; his sisters, Mary, Katie and Beatrice; brothers, George and Aniceto from Alamorgordo, NM; four grandchildren; and five step-children. SALAZAR -- ALFONSO Mr. Alfonso Salazar, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 25, 2006 peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family and is now in heaven with our Lord. Mr. Salazar is survived by his daughters, Emily Marez and husband, Eugene, Clara Bridges and husband, Brian and Sylvia Candelaria; one sister, Vicenta Gallegos; one brother, Ernesto Salazar and wife, Gladys; nine grandchildren, Jaime, Vicente, Tomas, Patrick, Daniel, Marcuss, Julian, Breanna, and Presston; eight great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Alexus, Carlissa, Gabriella, Lorenzo, Cruz, Joaquin, and Selena; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. SANCHEZ -- Quin R. Sanchez, age 42, a lifelong resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2006. Quin loved motorcycles and cars and he died doing what he loved to do most, and that was riding his Harley Davidson on a beautiful Sunday evening. He was an avid motorcycle and car restorer and his Harley was dressed with chrome and leather. He restored a 1972 2-wheel drive Chevy Blazer. It was a true work of love and art and his Blazer won many awards at car shows throughout New Mexico and Arizona. Quin was an avid gun collector and he took great pride in his ability as a marksman. All of us remember Quin working in the food and beverage industry in Valencia County for well over 22 years. He worked for Landmark Foods in Belen for many years and he was well known as the manager of Discount Liquors in Belen and his rapport with his customers and his peers was unsurpassed. The greatest love of his life was his niece, Caitlyn and nephew, Ryan Lucero. He spent as much time as he could with them and he was always there for them no matter what. Quin loved all of his family and was close to every one of them. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ramon and Dora Jaramillo Ortega; paternal grandfather, Otoniel C. Sanchez; three uncles, David Ortega, Mike Storey, and Michael P. Sanchez. Quin is survived by his parents, Raynaldo Sanchez and Gemma Roselli; his three siblings, Damon Sanchez, Felicia Nieto and her husband, Charles, and Thera Lucero and her husband, Chris; his loving and devoted grandmother, Ernestina "Little Grandma" Sanchez; and his very loving and devoted niece and nephew, Caitlyn and Ryan Lucero; aunt, Sandra Armijo and her husband, Jake; three uncles, B. Paul Ortega, Carlos Sanchez, and Andrew Sanchez; and many loving cousins and friends. Per Quin's request cremation has taken place. SPARBER -- Toni Peralta Sparber, recently of Albuquerque and a native of Belen and Jarales, has taken her journey home on Sunday, August 27, 2006 after battling breast cancer. A direct descendant of the first Spanish explorers, Toni was positive and dynamic. She was an advocate for the voiceless as a social worker at the Belen Welfare Department, Los Lunas Hospital and Training School, AARC, and the Belen nursing home. After retirement, she continued to be a lifelong learner, accomplished painter, decorator, landscaper, and genealogist. Her crowning endeavor was her devotion to her faith and her family. She will be treasured and cherished "until the 12th of Never". She was preceded in death by her parents, Elifas and Socorrita Peralta; and brothers, Fidel, Abelicio, and Felipito. Toni is survived by her husband of 52 years, former Sandia scientist Frederick Sparber; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Lew Witz of Albuquerque; and five beloved grandchildren: Anya Maria Witz at UNM, Gregory Eiler Witz at NMSU, and Madalyn Clare, Josef Christopher, and Elias Nikai Witz of the family home. She also leaves behind her sisters and their families: Lita Peralta, Angie Vallejos, and Nora Rivera of Jarales, Sadie and Joseph Barela of Albuquerque, Corrine and Ray Willison of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Christina Peralta of Barstow; and former brother-in-law, Ernest Vallejos of Belen. TAYLOR -- Clara E. Taylor went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 27, 2006 after a valiant battle with cancer. She died peacefully at her Sandia Park home surrounded by her loving family, one day shy of her 83rd birthday. Clara E. Mulford was born on August 28, 1923, in Ionia, MI, one of 12 children. She married the love of her life, James E. Taylor, in 1954 in Albuquerque, where they made their home and shared a fabulous life together. Jim and Clara enjoyed traveling, dancing, listening to music and spending time with family and their many friends. They often spent their summer months at their summer cottage in Crystal, MI Clara was a loving, giving person, and she passed that spirit on to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Never was her love and selflessness more evident than when she cared round-the-clock for her husband when he was suffering from Alzheimer's. Clara worked at Sandia Laboratories until her retirement in 1986. She was an avid genealogist and was past-president of the New Mexico Genealogical Society. She was also active in the DAR. Clara was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, and her pastors and many friends stopped by to pray with her during the past two months. The family wishes to thank them and the many other neighbors and friends who offered support during this difficult time. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by two brothers, Charles and Paul Mulford; daughters, Bonny Taylor March and Ruth Harris; grandchildren, Gene March, James March and wife, Julie, Melody Simpkin husband, Richard and children, Matthew and Mark, Genea Bogart, husband, Nathan and children, Shibhan and Taylor O'Neil and Tyler Bogart, Jeffery March, Keith Harris and wife, Lynn and children, Meghan and Jonathan, and Deanne Harris and husband, Kalieen and children, Soleil and Aliya.
