CAMPBELL -- Elizabeth E. "Beth" Campbell, 81, a resident of Bosque Farms and Albuquerque for 34 years, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2006. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Lori Campbell of Albuquerque; sons, Richard Campbell of Lake Jackson, TX, Robert Campbell of Sparks, NV; grandchildren, Tina Chandler, Wendi and Michelle Campbell, Mike and Robbie Campbell; and great-grandson, Vegas Chandler. Born in Grand Junction, CO, Beth grew up on her parents' cattle ranch riding the range on horseback, taking care of the animals and the land, and is where her passion for nature and all its surroundings began. She graduated from nursing school in Pendleton, OR in 1947. Beth worked as a registered nurse in hospitals where she lived in Oregon, Washington, California, and Ohio until her retirement from nursing at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque in 1975. She was honored for her compassion and diligence for those in her care. In her many years living in Bosque Farms, Beth loved working outdoors and riding and tending to her horses and many other animals and birds. She was always caring for any and all that needed shelter or a kind voice and gentle touch, her cherished and beloved "fawn" at her side always, until recently. Beth was involved for many years in Bosque Farms with a group of ladies getting together sharing ideas and talents with arts and crafts, later becoming a "teacher" of her expertise in needlework at the Senior center in Bosque Farms. She always strived for excellence in whatever project was at hand, which showed in all of her creations. Beth enjoyed collecting many "treasures" with her husband in their travels throughout the country and abroad. "Rock" hunting was especially a joy for her to share, along with her creations, with anyone who came to visit and admire. I knew an amazing woman who truly touched the lives of many - becoming their "second" mother and grandmother. Beth cared with an open heart and arms open for a hug. And to her loving daughter, "she is, and always will be, the wind beneath my wings." Cremation has taken place and interment of cremated remains will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery alongside her "sweetheart." In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, or to any of the wonderful charities or sanctuaries that care for animals, large and small. Many thanks to everyone, now and throughout the years, for the love, support, and kindness that you have given to our family. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333

WHITE -- Charles V. White, (1916-2006), 90, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2006 at his home in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence White. Charles and Florence were originally from New York but relocated to Albuquerque in 1956. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Charles married Florence on October 30, 1942, soon after he completed U.S. Army Officers' Candidate School and was commissioned as an officer in the Corps of Engineers. During World War II, his unit, the 654th Engineers participated in the Normandy Campaign, supporting allied forces during their advance on Germany. He later was stationed in Japan where he developed a deep respect for the country and its people. Following World War II, Charles and Florence settled in Bennington, Vermont where Charles worked as a lithographer. During the Korean War, Charles was back in the Army preparing maps in Washington, D.C. Soon after returning to civilian life, Charles and Florence settled in Albuquerque where they established a business selling hand-crafted Indian jewelry from coast-to-coast. Upon retirement in 1980, Charles and Florence enjoyed traveling to far away places. While in Albuquerque, they enjoyed bird watching and gardening in their home with its view of the Sandia Mountains and downtown Albuquerque. Charles was an avid opera enthusiast and a frequent participant in activities at the Los Volcanes Senior Citizen Center. He was also a generous contributor to local charities. A sensitive and unpretentious man with a wonderful sense of humor, Charles will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Plans are being made for internment to take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends are invited to a gathering in celebration of Charles White's life, to be held at the Los Volcanes Senior Center at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006.
