CARRILLO -- Raymond A. Carrillo, 77, beloved husband and father, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2006. He was born on November 11, 1928 to Nestor and Mollie Carrillo of Martinez Town in Albuquerque. Emily Carrillo, his wife of 57 years, preceded him in death. Raymond is survived by his children, Veronica Garcia, Sandy Mileski, David Carrillo and Lisa Carrillo; grandchildren, Jason and Jacqueline Garcia, Zachary, Mariah and Joshua Moquino, and Sean and Leigh Mileski; great-grandchild, Justin Garcia; and nephews, Danny Ray, Ronnie and Mark Carrillo. DAY -- Don F. Day, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home with his family by his side on Thursday, May 25, 2006. Don was born on September 27, 1930 in Electra, TX, to Roy and Ruth Day. He grew up in Louisiana and Texas, graduating high school in San Diego, TX, and joined the Air Force in 1948. His first overseas assignment was in Occupied Japan. He married Carolyn V. Cox, in Tahoka, TX on April 16, 1951 and was stationed at Manzano AFB, now known as Kirtland AFB. Coming from the flatlands of Texas, they took the signs posted east of Albuquerque seriously when they read "Last Chance for Gas, Mountain Passes Ahead." Don proudly served with the New Mexico Air National Guard for 35 years. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Don and Carolyn returned to Texas in 1985 to care for ailing parents. There, they were active in their church and enjoyed many years of traveling. In 2001, they returned to Albuquerque to be closer to their daughters and their families. He and Carolyn were members of the Heights Church of Christ. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruth Day. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Debra Stroup and husband, Mike, Sheri Maloy and husband, TJ; four grandchildren, Ryan Matson, Shelby Alexander and husband, Ty, Aaron Maloy and Shawn Maloy; and one great-granddaughter, Audry Lynn (Sugar Plum) Alexander. He is also survived by one brother, Albert Day and wife, Joanne; two sisters, Patsy Hart and husband, Cecil and Gladys Swan and husband Carl. Don was a devoted and loving husband, wonderful father, and caring brother. He was a man of integrity, a man of faith and he will be deeply missed. DE LA PORTE -- Carl Eugene De La Porte, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away May 26, 2006. He was born October 31, 1924, and raised in Hannibal, MO. He joined the Navy at seventeen serving as a Master Carpenter aboard the USS Oberon. He also drove the landing craft in World War II in the South Pacific. After returning from the war, he worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant. In 1954 Carl moved with his family to Albuquerque to work at ACF and later was employed at GE as manager of Quality Control. He was honored by GE for perfect attendance for nineteen years. He was very active in his church serving in many areas as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, treasurer, and was active on the Church Board for many years. He was site manager for the new gym and was a superior carpenter, leaving a living legacy of his craftsmanship for the church and many friends. Carl was predeceased by his son, Terry De La Porte. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughters, Marca De La Porte and Kay Rayls and husband, Greg; his son, Jim and wife, Gai Gai Anderson. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Pam De La Porte; and his grandchildren, Kim Haight and husband, Mike; Dawn and husband, Blake Leath; Jason De La Porte, Amy Boles, Emilio, Elias and Esperanza Sandoval, Jeremy Rayls, Jameson, Evan, Titus, and Neema Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Terralyn Haight, Lauren Leath, and Kylar De La Porte; his sisters, Glenna Rothweiler and Virginia Davidson; and brother, Richard De La Porte; also many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. DURAN -- Bersabe. Mana Bersa, 103, born June 9, 1902, passed away on May 29, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Ortiz and Luisa Romero; stepmother, Gomersinda Ortiz, her husband, Dionicio Duran; one son, Onesimo Duran; one grandson, Michael Duran; one great-great-grandson, Damien Duran; son-in-law, Daniel Garcia; three brothers and one sister. She is survived by four daughters and four sons, Delia Garcia, Lorraine Burns (Jim), Luisa Duran (David), Dolores Klingbeil, Albert Duran (Marge), Bill Duran (Dora), Frank Duran (AnnaMarie), Clarence Duran (Carol), and daughter-in-law, Elsie Duran; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mana Bersa was an active member of the Carmelitas, an active member of the Democratic party, a foster grandparent in the Penasco Schools, a member of the Altar Society and very active in the Senior Citizens activities. She loved her blessed Penasco and Rio Lucio where she raised nine children, as well as chickens, pigs, cows and cabritos with Mano "Lionicio" whom she married in 1920 where they lived in their 150 year old house and orchard and farm. She loved her comadres and compadres and vecinos who shared work, joy and sorrow together as well as frijoles, papas, chili and tortillas. Mana Bersa's spirit was an amazing one to the end, and we figure it will be the same in the heavenly beyond. Her friends in heaven will say "Al fin llego mi comadre Bersa!" and they'll be glad to have her meet a Su Tatita Dios y a Maria Santissima. And Dad will say "'Onde andabas? Ya me daban ancias!". Our mother lived through 18 presidents and 26 administrations! The blessings of a long life given to her as she said by her boss, El Creador Del Mundo. El Santo Rosario will be recited on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. with a visitation just before at 5:00 p.m. and La Santa Misa will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006. DURAN -- Joe N. Duran, age 79, was born and raised in Wagonmound, NM. He came to Veguita, NM in September of 1999 where he was cared for by his niece, Angela and her husband, Joe Martinez. Joe was a happy-go-lucky, fun loving person who enjoyed playing sports such as basketball and playing the piano in his younger days. He served in the Armed Forces and fought for his country in the Korean War. Through the years he maintained his jovial and cheerful attitude. The last several years were spent doing many activities and going on outings with the family. Uncle Joe always enjoyed his visits to Wagonmound, where he was known as "Chino", especially during an annual Bean Day. His last visit was in 2005 during the celebration where he was greeted by many friends which he remembered and was very glad to see. The Lord took our Uncle Joe to be with him on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Rael and Juan Isidro Duran. GALLEGOS -- Johnnie M. Gallegos, 79, died on Monday May 29, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Emilia. John is also survived by his sons and daughters, Lucy Patterson and husband, Mickey, Alice Sandoval and husband, John, John Gallegos Jr., Richard Gallegos and wife, Ramona, and Doris Gallegos; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. GARCIA -- Michael R. Garcia Born: December 5, 1954 Michael, 51, passed away peacefully to be home with the Lord, after a long illness, on May 24, 2006. HORNING -- Luther K. Horning, 64, an Albuquerque resident since 1962, died Friday, May 26, 2006 in Lone Tree, CO. HURFORD -- Mary Eunice Hurford, 95, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2006. She had been a resident of New Mexico since 1948. Mary was born May 30, 1910, the daughter of Robert and Roslyn Coster Tully in Boston, MA. She was one of ten children. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Hugh Hurford; her daughter, Mary Eunice Hurford; one son, Thomas James Hurford; and eight of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son, Paul J. Hurford of Rio Rancho; one sister, Doris Ahearn, age 91, of Rhode Island; and one grandson, Dan T. Hurford of Albuquerque. LOVATO -- RITA S. Dr. Rita S. Lovato, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Martine Lovato of the Santo Domingo Pueblo. Originally from New York, she is survived by her sister, Barbara Levine of New York; brother, Barry Levine of Washington D.C., and his children, Adam, Kiera, Surell, Lindsay, and Daniel. Rita was the owner of Silver Hills, a prominent wholesale American Indian jewelry company featuring handmade jewelry with emphasis on the Santo Domingo Pueblo. Rita was a Fulbright Fellow and an award recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts. She was a member of several museum foundations and a regular donor to Native American jewelry exhibitions across the world. Rita was also the founder and director of the Museum of Native American Jewelry. A lecturer, professor, collector, and artist, her influence in Native American jewelry will carry on for generations to come, and she will be remembered as "one of the most knowledgeable and articulate spokespeople on the subject of American Indian jewelry." MCKINNEY -- Jerry W. McKinney, 68, a former resident of Albuquerque, who returned to the City in 2004 after 22 years in Washington, DC, died Friday, May 26, 2006, the victim of a rafting accident in Farmington, NM. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kay McKinney; daughters, Kathy Low and husband, James of Palo Alto, CA, Ellen McKinney and partner, Tami Hamilton of Menlo Park, CA; grandchildren, Jeremy Low and Lindsey Day of Fresno, CA, Candace Low of Palo Alto, CA, and Stephanie Keith of Menlo Park, CA; great-grandson, J.J. Low of Fresno, CA; sister, Margie Jordan and husband, Tom, of Hondo, TX; mother-in-law, Valda Cooper Lavender of Rio Rancho and Farmington, NM; brother-in-law, Cy Cooper and wife, Manalynn of Farmington, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was born September 17, 1937 in Esperanza, TX. He served as a flight instructor in the Navy and worked in radio, TV and newspapers in Uvalde and Corpus Christi, TX, Albuquerque, and Washington, DC. Jerry coordinated the campaign media for the late Congressman Joe Skeen's write-in campaign and subsequently served as his press secretary. He then worked for Voice of America and covered the White House, Pentagon and State Department. He also covered the national political conventions live with millions of viewers worldwide. Jerry coordinated Voice of America's coverage of the uprising in Tiananmen Square. He went on to become the bureau chief at the Tokyo Bureau and covered Japan and Korea. Jerry worked with the Traveling Press Corp and covered the presidential campaigns for Dukakis, Clinton, and the first George Bush. He was also involved with the national press covering inaugurals. Jerry was an active member of the Bernalillo County Republican party. Since his return to Albuquerque, Jerry was chosen for a number of bit parts in movies and television commercials. He was a lector at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Jerry loved to garden - growing roses, tomatoes, and green chili. Mass of Resurrection will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 North Plaza NW. MORRIS -- Ellas "Buddy" Morris, age 66, of Albuquerque, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, May 29, 2006 as a result of pancreatic cancer. Buddy was born and raised in Carlsbad, NM, son of Edith Morris. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1964. He moved to California where he met and married Eddiena "Dee" Beck. He worked for many years for Barberollan in Woodland, CA. Buddy then started his own business making and selling shaved ice, expanding his business to include state-wide events. He and Dee moved back to New Mexico in 2003 to retire. Buddy was very outgoing, could sell snow to an Eskimo, always was the life of the party, and would light up any room that he walked into. Buddy is survived by his wife, Dee; son, Todd Morris; daughter, Kimberly Morris; children from a former marriage, Cindy, Robin, and Troy; brothers, Duard Morris and Steve Morris; other family and friends. MOURNING -- Barbara J. Mourning, age 68, of Albuquerque, went to be with her Lord and her family Sunday, May 28, 2006. Barbara was born and raised in Lubbock, TX to Charles and Lonnie Stevenson. She was a long-time resident of Denver, CO, and Hobbs, NM. Her family meant everything to her. She was always there for her family whenever she was needed. She not only raised her own family, but helped raise her grandchildren. Barbara always put the needs of others in front of her own needs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. MYERS -- Doris L. Myers (Dottie), 78, Air Force wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 27, 2006. She fought a courageous battle against breast cancer. She was born in Ft. Worth, TX on June 30, 1927, and attended Texas Wesleyan College. She accompanied her husband throughout the country on various assignments during their Air Force career, with Kirtland AFB being their last assignment. She and her husband, Jim, have resided in Albuquerque since 1972. She was preceded in death by two sons, David and Richard; Frank and Mildred Avriett, her adoptive parents. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Colonel James B. Myers, USAF (Ret.); daughter, Mikal E. Meyer and husband Jim of Fairfax, VA; son, Jeffery J. Myers and wife Susie of Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren Joan Barrett and husband Michael of Springfield, MO; Jeff Meyer and wife, Karyn of Springfield, MO; Barry Meyer of Arlington, VA., Matt and Rachel Myers of Blacksburg, VA. and four great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice for their care, guidance, and support. A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. PEREA -- Thomas, L. (Tommy) Perea died May 25, 2006 after a long illness. He was born September 14, 1948 and raised in Corrales, NM. He served two tours in Vietnam. RADISAUSKAS -- Raymond Radisauskas was the son of Joseph and Helen (Burba) Radisauskas. He was born on June 23, 1941 in Muskegon, MI and died on May 22, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. He worked for the city of Muskegon Heights for 30 plus years, and retired in 1999. He and his wife lived in Holton, MI prior to relocating to Albuquerque in 2000. Raymond is survived by his wife, Jane; mother, Helen Radisauskas and sister, MaryAnn (George) Oberembt of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Christina Radisauskas of Grand Rapids; step-children, Jeff Jay of Muskegon, MI and Lori Jameson of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Jennifer and Amena, and his beloved dog, Diva. Raymond was a Veteran (Active and Reserve) serving in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a lifetime member of the Muskegon Lithuanian Club, a member of the American Legion, where he served as an Honor Guard, and the Holland, MI National Guard. No viewing. RANDALL -- Arthur Joseph Randall, Sr., passed away following a brief illness at the age of 70 on Friday, May 26, 2006. He was a retired senior sales rep, veteran, and resident of Albuquerque for over 21 years. In 1955 through 1959, Arthur was proud to have served in the U.S. Air Force. Arthur retired from 33 years of service from a successful career with many promotions at Chevron Oil Company. Arthur was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a very kind and very generous person with high spiritual and moral values. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Angela M. Randall; two sons, Arthur J. Randall, Jr. and David Lewis Randall; grandson, Sean David Randall, son of Arthur, Jr.. Arthur Joseph Randall, Sr. is also survived and loved by his sister Arline Champ from South Windsor, CT. REED -- Arlie Dee Reed, 83, went to meet the Lord, May 28, 2006. He was born June 13, 1922, in Lynn County, TX, a son of James Oliver and Mary Tobatha Wood Reed. He married Elma Juanita Powers, August 29, 1942 in Lubbock, TX; they were married 63 years. He served in the Army Air Corp for 3 years and 3 months as an Aerial Engineer during World War II. He worked as a Power Production Superintendent for 34 years at Manzano Base and Kirtland Air Force Base. After his retirement, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for 15 years for Albuquerque Manor (Princeton Place). He was a member of the Montgomery Blvd. Church of Christ where he served two terms as Elder, and was presently a Deacon. Survivors include his wife, Juanita, of Albuquerque; two daughters and one son, Sheryl and husband, John Arvey, and Karen Holwick all of Albuquerque; Les Reed, Oklahoma City, OK; 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Nadine Dikes, Mineral Wells, TX. He was preceded in death by eight sisters, and one brother. SANCHEZ -- Isidro (Isaac) Sanchez, born December 8, 1965, passed away Saturday at the age of 40. Isaac was preceded in death by his father, Nep Sanchez. Isaac or "The Ice Man" is survived by his Mother, Helen Sanchez; daughters, Cathleen Sanchez, Jillian Sanchez and Faye Maldonado; fiancee, Crystal Sanchez; brothers, Nep Sanchez Jr. and wife, Della, Raymond Sanchez and wife, Cathy; former wife and mother of his children, Irene Sanchez; grandfather, Quirino Lucero; and many loving family members and friends. Isaac was an employee of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy for 11 years where he made many friendships with his co-workers and people whom he did service for. Isaac enjoyed playing fast pitch softball with the Albuquerque Bulls, horseshoes, watching the Denver Broncos, NASCAR Racing, and riding his Harley Davidson with his fiancee Crystal. Isaac was very proud of his three daughters Cathleen, Jillian and Faye, whom he loved very dearly. He enjoyed spending his time with his daughters who made him laugh and brought him great happiness. Isaac was a great guy who will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Joey Baca, Pat Chavez, Alex Gonzales, Hiram Mariano, Max Jaramillo, and Ernest Zamora. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Jaramillo, Robert Jaramillo, Dennis Marquez, Morris Vaisa, Ernest Ruiz Jr., Bobby Gow, and Adam Flores. TAYLOR -- Judy Kay Taylor went on to be with her Lord on May 29, 2006, after a long illness. She was born on October 27, 1953 in Madison, WI. She is the beloved daughter of Mariko Kawamura Taylor of Phoenix, AZ and the late Dean L. Taylor; beloved sister of Barbara A. Taylor of Lancaster, PA, Christoher and Johnalee Taylor of Madison, WI, Thomas and Karen Taylor of Phoenix, AZ and Erick and Joy Taylor of Madison, WI; a beloved aunt and great-aunt of 14 nieces and nephews, Shawn, Shannon, Sarah, Rachael, Alexandra, Sam, Victoria, Benjamin, Allison, Noah, Christopher, Jonathan, Austin and Josiah; and a beloved friend of so many dear people. Judy was born and raised in the Army and graduated from Kubasaki High School, Okinawa, Japan. In her younger days, she worked for the U.B.C. and J. in Dallas, TX. She attended electronic school at ITT Tech of Los Angeles, CA and became employed with Motorola of Phoenix, AZ and Noran in Colorado. She was last employed with Hitachi in New Mexico. She is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War era. She loved her dog, Hanna, and had traveled to Hawaii, Europe and other places in the world. Although we are saddened by her passing, she is loved and will be missed by all who were graced to know her. We find comfort in knowing she no longer suffers.
