HANSEN -- Kathryn Elizabeth Corrnelison Evans Hansen. Our mother died April 30, 2006, Sunday morning. While she was only 97, she believed herself to be 100, and thus gave herself permission to take her leave. What a courageous woman! She began life as a tomboy, but was an outwardly meek and sometimes frightened person who nevertheless demonstrated a strength that stood her well. She triumphed in her quiet ways over many trials throughout her life. Blind from macular degeneration and no longer recognizing our faces, she maintained her sense of humor and gracious qualities. She endeared herself to her caregivers at Manzano del Sol ("Apple of the Sun," Mother). We give our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to them all for their loving care. We knew you for years, Mom. We are grateful for all of them. It is painfully hard to say, but say we must: Goodbye, Dear One. Your loving daughters, "Christmas" Carol Evans Higgins and Cornelia Evans. Mom leaves behind step-sons: Clark, Dan, and Keith; grandchildren: Leah (and Nat), Bruce (and Bonnie), Mark (and Tish), Paula (and Jerry), Sandi (and Greg), Pam (and Tran); great-grands: Meira, Leila, Loren, Kendall, and Forest; great-great-grands: Connor and Caitlyn. Her only son, John B. Evans, died three years ago. Memorial Services are not set at this time.
