GODINEZ -- Helen Helen Armijo Godinez April 29, 1933-April 14, 2004 Mom, As I sat watching by your bed A million thoughts ran through my head. Of just how much were you aware? Did you know that I was there? Could you feel the love I sent, In whispered word, Or prayer bent? Upon my cross as I asked God, To spare your life for my selfish cause? So that I could tell you just once more, "I love you Mom!" as I had before. And we could chat like days of old, Over cans of Sprite rimmed with gold. And laugh and joke, or just to share some small hurt and perhaps a tear. To talk of the past, or things yet to do. To sniffle, and sneeze, and say "Bless You!" All these dreams now hang in shreds, As I sit here with bowed down head. And ponder on these sad thoughts. Just to wonder, "Was it all for naught?" It's been two years that you have been gone, "I Love and Miss You!" Your Daughter, Frieda Maldonado

If you were a big bold rainbow I'd be your pot of gold. You would shine up in the sky so high So brightly and so bold. You would follow a summer storm So dreary and so dark, With bright majestic colors That calls out to even the smallest meadowlark. If you were an ocean With giant waves crashing upon the land I'd be with you always In every simple grain of sand. And if you were a river Running frantically to the sea I'd run along beside you Through the tangles of the trees. What if you were that tree Growing tall straight and true I'd grow right there with you To help guide you to the blue. And what if you were a puppy So bouncy and so new I'd be your best friends always We would run and play and that's what we'd do. But you're none of those things Yet all of them, too So I can be with you always And tell them often, I love you.
