ARMIJO -- Aurelia Baca Armijo passed away on December 5, 2005. Aurelia was born on the family ranch near Burley, NM on February 2, 1913. Aurelia is preceded in death by her husband Andres G. Armijo. Mrs. Armijo is survived by her son, Paul Baca Armijo and wife, Ann Stockly-Armijo; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Aurelia lived on the family ranch until 1990 when she moved to Albuquerque. Her family would like to remember her as a loving, kind mother, wife, and friend and she will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited Friday, December 9, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. BUCK -- Barbara Jean Buck (Dixon / Edwards). Barbara Jean died peacefully December 6, 2005. Born April 15, 1931 in Denver CO, she was the youngest daughter of Lydia and Al Buck. The Bucks were well known locally here where Barbara grew up. As a lifelong diabetic, she was an inspiration to family and friends. In her last years she faced serious health issues and was amazingly brave. Her inner strength confounded all who knew her. The family is grateful to Maureen Thomson, her care giver and devoted friend. Survivors are: her sister, Annetta Andrews of Washington; her sons, Buck and wife, Fara of Arizona, Kevin and wife, Tatiana of Florida, Cameron Dixon of Florida, and stepson, Kip Edwards and wife, Sally of California; nephews, Mike, Bob and Doug (deceased) Dechenne; granddaughters, Daniela Wilson and husband, Danny of Rio Rancho, Cassie and Nicole Dixon of Wisconsin, and Marina Dixon of Florida; great-granddaughters, Laura and Bailey Wilson of Rio Rancho; and other extended family. Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Barbara's life at First Methodist Church Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. 314 Lead Ave. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to charities of your choice.

CLARK -- Mary Alice Clark, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and 48-year resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. Mary Alice was born March 6, 1923 in Dry Fork, IN to Harley and Jane Reed. She was the youngest of three children: sister, Olive Matthews Holt and brother, Charles Reed, who preceded her in death. Mary Alice grew up on a farm in Indiana and graduated from Vevay High School in 1941. On March 6, 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, Ethol Burton Clark, who preceded her in death in 1988. Mary Alice moved to Albuquerque with husband and four children in 1958. There she made a home for her family who were her pride and joy. Through the years she was able to watch her children grow. She watched their accomplishments as they became husbands, wives, mothers and fathers. She enjoyed her friends in TOPS as well as her neighbors. When her grandchildren were little, she enjoyed baking cookies with them as well as attending school functions. Her trip to Hawaii with her husband and a cruise to Alaska with her daughter and son-in-law were the joys of her life. Mary Alice is survived by her daughters, Alice Faye and husband, Jim Koepke, Judith Ann and husband, Tom Koepke, Nita and husband, Kenneth Mayhugh, all of Albuquerque; son, Charles Burton and wife, Darla Clark of Owasso, OK; grandchildren, Tammy and husband, Neil Herreid of Brighton, CO, Deborah and husband, Aaron Alberti, Cherity Koepke, Donald and wife, Desiree Koepke, all of Albuquerque, Shannon and husband, Jason Bartlett of Chandler, AZ, Jason and Brittany Clark of Owasso, OK; and three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Gabrielle, and Jonathan Alberti. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Lem Boyles and Pastor John Heffelfinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim and Tom Koepke, Kenneth Mayhugh, Don Koepke, Jason Clark, and Dominic Alberti. DAVIS -- Vernon R. Davis passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2005, at his home after a battle with cancer, he was 64 years old. Vernon was born in Rush Springs, OK on Wednesday, October 1, 1941, he was raised in Hobbs, NM, but loved Albuquerque. Vernon loved the road as he was an over the road truck driver for the last 40 years. In his spare time he loved fishing, hunting, golf and the mountains and ocean. He will be truly missed. Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Lori Davis; his beautiful daughter, Vanessa and husband, Martin; son, Damon Davis; four grandchildren, Daniel, Felicia, Matthew, and Isacc, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Tom Davis and wife, Carol of Rattan, OK and Billy Davis and wife Frances of Albuquerque; sisters, Beverly White and husband, Bob, Linda White of Virginia Beach, VA, and Carla Sue Cofer of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters-in-law, Betty Westcott, Angie Pachta, Mable Taylor and Thelma Sanchez, all of Albuquerque and Rose Amador and husband, Nick of Dublin, CA; brother-in-law, George Gargoura of Albuquerque; and loving pet chow, "Duke". Vernon also had many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends in the trucking industry. GERSHIN -- Bernard Gershin, 79, a 36-year resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Leigh Gershin; sons, Sam Gershin and wife, Verrity of Albuquerque and Ira Gershin and wife, Marcy of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Reuben, Joseph, Aaron, Rachel, Beth, and Daniel; sister, Dorothy Baruch; brother, Alvin Gershin; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans and B'nai Israel Synagogue. He was a loving husband and father. Bernie enjoyed collecting everything from rocks to cactus. Most of all, he enjoyed being a Zayda (grandfather). Bernie will be greatly missed by all. Services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2005 at B'nai Israel, 4401 Indian School Rd. GOULET -- Donald Joseph Goulet passed away unexpectedly, December 7, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odilon and Donatha Goulet. Don is survived by Joseph Sinico, Jacqueline Emond, Ronald Sinico, Roberta Sinico, Deborah Sinico, James Sinico, and Anne Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He worked for the State of New Mexico as an Adoption Social Worker for CYFD. Don was ordained to the priesthood in 1965 as a missioner for Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. He serviced in Korea and leaves behind many brothers in Maryknoll. Don worked tirelessly for the rights of the underprivileged and disenfranchised. Cremation has taken place. Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, on the UNM Campus at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to, Caparnaum, P.O. GURULE -- Mary G. Gurule June 3, 1923 - December 9, 2003 Grandma, It was two years ago, today, that you left us so unexpectedly. LUJAN -- Frankie David Lujan, 37, of Denver, CO, formerly from Bernalillo (Llanito) NM, went with the Lord on December 1, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Angie; and his children, Bryson, Brayden, and Brianna; mother, Terry Lucero and husband, Frank Lucero; and father, Manuel Lujan. He is also survived by his three sisters, Karen Lujan, Lori Lujan, Lisa Archunde and husband, Danny Archunde. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. MILLER -- Betty Miller of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, December 5, 2005 in an Albuquerque nursing home. She was born Wednesday, September 12, 1923 in Springfield Gardens, NY to the late Frank A. Miller, Sr. and Clara Lang Miller. Betty is survived by her brother, Frank Miller, Albuquerque; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Robert Milani, New York; nieces and nephews, Ann Marie and John Karam, and John Milani and family, all of New York, Janet and Richard Letscher, and Theresa Miller, all of Albuquerque; great-nieces and -nephews, Laura, Joann, Joseph and Rita Karam, all of New York, Rick Letscher and wife, Shira, Janelle and Justin Hawkins, Christy and Edward Parks, all of Albuquerque; great-great-nephew and -niece, Joseph Greenberg and Randi Hawkins, both of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her dear sister-in-law, Loretta Miller in February, 2002. Betty was a very devoted sister and aunt to her family. Her family was her world and she will be dearly missed. NEWMAN -- Lyle (Bud) Newman, 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, went to live with the Lord on December 1, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Newman; son, Cary Newman and wife, Gay of Bayfield, CO; son, John Newman and wife, Donna of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Julie and husband, Mark Ludwig of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Sarah Newman and Amy Newman; Jessie DelaCruz; grandsons, Justin Ludwig and Michael Ludwig; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Newman of Mechanicsville, IA. Bud served 3 years in the Army in WWII. He received his B.S. in Physics from the University of Wyoming and did his graduate work at the University of Wisconsin. His retirement from Sandia Laboratory in 1985 allowed more time to spend at the mountain cabin he built in 1972. Bud was a long-time member of St. John's United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities and sang in the Chancel Choir. For many years he was a member of the teaching team of the Sandia District of the Boy Scouts of America. More recently he did volunteer work in the paleo lab at the Museum of Natural History. Besides working with his hands and spending time with family, he loved music, traveling and sitting on the deck of his beloved cabin watching the stars come out at night. This gentle, easy-going man will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Edwards and Clyde Stanfield officiating. NOLAN -- George Fred Nolan, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, died in Placerville, CA on Tuesday, November 29, 2005. George, a 30-year resident of Albuquerque, is survived by his wife, Bonnie and their daughters, Marcey Nolan and husband, Chris Daniel of Pennsylvania; Beth Paiz and husband, Ron of Albuquerque, and Katy Cardenas and husband, Tony of Albuquerque. George is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Matthew, Mollie, Maggie, Alan, and Garrett. George was a graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy, class of 1963. George also graduated from the Post Naval Graduate School with a Master's Degree in Physics and went on to earn a Master's of Business Administration from UNM. After retiring from the Navy at the rank of Lt. Commander, George worked as a consultant on many projects during his career as a Nuclear Physicist. Bonnie Nolan will host a reception for George's family and friends at their home on Saturday, December 10, 2005 from 2 to 5 p.m.

PHILLIPS -- Miriam Norton Phillips was born on January 22, 1915 in Bristol, CT to Ruth and Harold Norton. Miriam passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on November 28, 2005 in Chico, CA. Miriam married her husband, Edwin R. Phillips in 1935. They were married 65 years, until Edwin's death. Most of those years were lived in their beloved Albuquerque. Annually they traveled to Mexico. They made many friends on "their beach" at Cabo San Lucas. She is survived by two children, Justin Phillips of Chico and Laurel Packer of Albuquerque; her two grandchildren, Trenton and Heather Packer; and her great-granddaughter, Kashmir Packer, also of Albuquerque. She is further survived by her sister, Ruth Collins of Greenville, SC.

SHAVER -- Paul A. Shaver, 95, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005. He is survived by his sons, John Shaver and wife, Joy of Spring Grove, PA, William (Bill) Shaver of Albuquerque; daughters, Betty Ann Rebarchik and husband, Frank of Albuquerque, Kathy Swallows of Honolulu, HI, and Judy Shaver of Arvada, CO; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sharon Shaver of Edgewood, NM; and numerous friends. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Shaver in January, 1998; son, Wesley Shaver; and four brothers and sisters. He was born on July 11, 1910 in Salisbury, NC. Paul served in the United States Army from June, 1929 to August, 1930. He started working for the Albuquerque Police Department in 1935 as a patrolman on a beat, at the very bottom. Paul started the fingerprint bureau for APD, drawing from his training in the Army. He also started the Chaplaincy Program, School Crossing Guard Program and the F.O.P Boy's Camp, among others. Paul worked his way up in the police department, rising to the highest rank of Chief of Police. He was the only Police Chief who had to take a test to become Chief. Chief Shaver served as Police Chief from 1948 to 1971, serving the longest time as Chief in Albuquerque. He was very honest and of the highest integrity and was greatly respected not only by the policemen he worked with but also the citizens of Albuquerque. Paul was a member of John XXIII Catholic Community. He was a beloved father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE Sunday, December 11, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to the Rosary. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Alex Trujillo. TAPIA -- Vincent James Tapia passed away December 6, 2005 at the age of 17. TEUPELL -- Lorenzo Michael Teupell, born December 17, 1985 to Lorenzo and Tisha Teupell passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005 due to an auto accident. Lorenzo is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Albert Teupell and Eddie A. Chavez; his great-grandparents, Concepcion and Conrado Abreu; his uncle, Richard Sais; his Aunties, Isabella Abreu and Gloria Sais; and a best friend, Vincent Tapia. Little Lorenzo, or "Lo" as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by parents, Lorenzo Teupell and Tisha Teupell; his siblings, Armelina Armijo, Andrea Teupell, Jonathon Teupell Lasha Green, and Ashley Teupell; his nieces, Savanna and Trista; nephew, Elija; his grandmas, Emily Teupell and Emily Chavez. He is also survived by his Godparents, Concepcion Candelaria and Ralph Ortega; a great-grandmother, Kate Teupell. Little Lorenzo is survived by many aunties, uncles and cousins. Little Lorenzo was a sensitive, kind-hearted young man who loved and looked forward to his annual hunting trips with his dad, grandpa, and uncles. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. A Rosary for Lorenzo and Vincent will be recited on Friday evening, December 9, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2005 also at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
