He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Barela de Armijo, and he is survived by his father, Diego Armijo; three brothers, Andrew Brito, Diego Armijo Jr., and Johnny Armijo; three sisters, Diane Moya, Sadie Ann Farrar, and JoAnne Sedillo; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and will miss him. BAUER -- Florence L. Bauer, born August 7, 1925, was called home by God September 30, 2005. A loving wife, preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ernest H. Bauer Jr., mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be sorely missed by those who love her. Florence is survived by her sisters, Dolores Puhl, Rosemary Stalle, and Shirley Paus; preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Meltzer, George Meltzer, and her sister, Hildegarde Schamber. Florence raised and nurtured 11 children, Ernest Bauer, Roseanna Koper, Thomas Bauer, Stephen Bauer, Kathleen Costa, Sharon Downing (deceased), Lorrie Cowan, Diana Scramuzzo, Judith Bauer, Randall Bauer, and Monica Bauer-Rutledge. She was a loving Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, a grandmother of 28, and a great-grandmother of seven. Florence was an active member of the Estancia Valley Catholic Parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where she had been a longtime lector. A viewing (6:30 p.m.) and Vigil with Rosary (7:00 p.m.) will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Thursday, October 6, 2005. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m.

CATGENOVA -- Charlotte Gerrie Catgenova, 80, born in Omaha, NE on December 30, 1924, passed away on September 30, 2005. Charlotte is survived by her husband of forty-four years, George, of the family home; son, Mario; step-children, Nick Catgenova and Deborah Coleman; sister, Barbara Christianson of Alberta, Canada; sister-in-law, Margaret Radinse; brothers, Robert Hudson and wife, Carol of Veneta, OR and Martin Hudson of Eugene, OR; grandchildren, Heather Catgenova, Hana Catgenova, Christina Catgenova, and Brandon Coleman; and friend, Linda Hillman. Charlotte was multi-talented; she enjoyed art, cake baking, and jewelry making. Her family would like to remember her as a devoted and loving wife and mother. CHAVEZ -- Esther M. Chavez went home to be with the Lord and departed loved ones on October 3, 2005 at the age of 50. She was born on October 24, 1954 in Albuquerque, NM. Esther is survived by her sons, Gary Chavez and wife, Diane and Ken Chavez; brothers, Santiago Baros, Climaco Baros, Pete Baros and Augustine Baros; sister, Bernice Smith; grandchildren, Angelique, Johnathan and Alexandra Chavez; and many other family members. CRATER -- Nellie Obera Black Crater passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2005 on her 82nd birthday, at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born in the mining town of Dawson, NM. Having spent her early years in Albuquerque, her family moved to southern California where she met and married her husband, Donald Crater, of Pasadena, CA. Mrs. Crater received her B.S. in nursing from Loma Linda University, served as a nurse at the California Institution for Women in Chino and as a public school nurse for the Yucaipa California Public Schools. The Craters moved to Albuquerque in 1980 and Nellie was a nurse in the Albuquerque Public Schools until she retired in 1996. She was active in various ways at Hoffmantown Church and with the Billy Graham organization. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Crater; and her son, David Wayne Crater; as well as by brothers, Harmon Black, Lorin Black; and sister, Hortense Black Dalbey (all of Albuquerque); and by brothers, Leo Black and William Black. She is survived by her brother, Phillip Black of California; her son, Timothy Donald Crater, a pastor in Virginia; and four grandsons-David, Jonathan, Andrew, and Matthew Crater. Mrs. Crater also had two great-granddaughters, Grace and Harper. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel (B100) at Hoffmantown Church on Saturday, October 8, 2005, 11:00 a.m., 8888 Harper Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. CRAVENS -- Mary Lorine Cravens, 95, a longtime resident of Torrance County, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. Lorine was born June 30, 1910 near Tioga, TX to Willie Shirley and Edna May (Brown) Cannon. She and her family moved to Moriarty, NM when she was 12 years old. Lorine married Carl Cravens on May 18, 1930 in Pedernal, NM. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1984. Lorine and Carl began a dry land bean farm near Pedernal, NM. Lorine was an avid gardener, delighting in having bunches of beautiful flowers and large pumpkins. She and Carl loved traveling and especially loved fishing in Mexico. Her two sons, LeRoy Carl Cravens and his wife, Mercedes of Encino, NM, and Lamar B. Cravens and his wife, Vergie Miree of Moriarty, NM; a brother, Carl Cannon, and his wife, Teddie of Moriarty, NM; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren survive Lorine. Her parents, Willie and Edna Cannon; her husband, Carl; son, Phillip William Cravens; and sister, Merle Shields preceded Lorine in death. Her family will dearly miss Lorine as will all that knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Moriarty, NM. GOLDSMITH -- Greta Goldsmith, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 12 years, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. She was a Holocaust survivor who fought her last battle with cancer with strength and dignity in the same way she always lived her life. Greta is survived by her two devoted daughters, Barbara Goldsmith and Irene Schultz; as well as her cousin, Anne Greenburg, whom she always considered her sister. She is also survived by Wallis DaCosta and Robert Stone; two grandchildren, Amy Restrepo and husband, Julian and David Jarolmen and wife, Mary Ann; and three great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Matthew, and Summer. She leaves behind many good friends who were as loyal to her as she was to them. Greta was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Goldsmith, in 1986; and her parents, Morritz and Bella Kugelmann. She was always beautiful, elegant, vibrant, compassionate, warm, caring, and independent. Greta had a good sense of humor and made people smile when she entered a room. She gave unconditional love to those she loved, especially her family. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2005, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. HOY -- Mary M. Hoy, 94, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Hoy, June 1981. JONES -- Robbie Jones, 20, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Saturday, October 1, 2005. He is survived by his mother, Linda; his father, Chris; his brother, Matthew; his girlfriend, Erin Drew; his grandmothers, Gloria Dunne and Martha Jones; and a large extended family. Robbie graduated valedictorian from Los Lunas High School in 2004. While at Los Lunas High School, Robbie excelled not only in academics but in swimming, jazz and marching band as well. He went on to attend New Mexico Tech to major in Mechanical Engineering with the intent of pursuing a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. While at New Mexico Tech, Robbie was a member of the National Honor Society, the Math Club, and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. During the summer, Robbie worked as a head lifeguard at the Los Lunas High School pool. Robbie will be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and boyfriend. He will forever live in our hearts. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at 7:00 p.m., at San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. LEVY -- Luke Mitchell Levy, 89, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2005 with his family at his bedside. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sonia. Luke is survived by his wife, Julia; daughter, Marcia; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters in California; one brother in Panama; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Luke was born in Jamaica, British West Indies, July 10, 1916. At two years old he moved to Panama with his mother where he lived for over forty years. While in Panama he worked as a Cargo Checker for the Panama Canal Company, where he retired from after thirty-seven years. In Panama he met his wife of fifty eight years, Julia Campbell Levy and had two daughters, Sonia and Marcia. The family migrated to America in 1961 and settled in Brooklyn, NY. In 1988 Luke and Julia moved to Rio Rancho, NM to their present home. Luke was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a skilled tailor and made many lovely outfits for himself and his wife. Luke was an avid baseball fan. His handsome face had a lovely smile. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church for many years and at his departure he was a regular member of The Church of the Incarnation in Rio Rancho. Through his short illness Luke was ministered to and cared for by his church Pastor and Deacons, skilled Hospice workers, and many devoted friend and neighbors. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE in Rio Rancho. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of the Incarnation, 2309 Monterrey Rd. in Rio Rancho, at 10:00 a.m. Friday October 7, 2005, with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. PAGE -- Donna Pearl Hutton Page was born August 7, 1919. She passed away Monday, October 3, 2005. A resident of Albuquerque's South Valley since February 1951, Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years and a daughter, Nancy L. Carter. She is survived by her son, Donald L. Page and family of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Florence Thompson and her husband, John Thompson of Albuquerque; her brother-in-law, Wilbur Heasty of Albuquerque; and granddaughter, Krista Page of San Diego, CA. Donna's life was always dedicated to her family. She adored the color red and found fulfillment in caring for her extensive rose and flower gardens. She was also a longtime member of Eastern Star and Rebeccas. A brief Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. PAOLETTI -- Bruno Paoletti, 87, died of lung cancer on Sunday, October 2, 2005. He was born in Panama, Illinois and raised in St. Louis, MO. Bruno and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1952. Bruno is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille; daughter, Clarice Jenkins and husband, John of Albuquerque; brother, Lee Paoletti and wife, Edythe of Sun City, AZ; sister, Inez Paoletti; granddaughter, Teri Coker and husband, Mick, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Robert Paoletti and wife, Dee of Los Lunas; great-grandchildren, Jesse Pedersen and husband, David of Albuquerque, Melissa Clarice Paoletti of Los Lunas, Clinton Coker of Cloudcroft, Sarah Vega and daughter, Izabella of Kodiak, AK, P.J. Vega and son, Jay of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lee Paoletti in 1959. Bruno served in the United States Army during WWII as a heavy equipment operator. He was a machinist at Sandia National Laboratories and retired in 1983, after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Italian American Club and the Bear Canyon Senior Center Fishing Club. Bruno will be greatly missed by his family and countless friends. ROBERTS -- Melvin Ray Roberts, 62, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2005 after his seven year battle against cancer. He was born in Springfield, MO on January 17, 1943 to John M. and Helen M. Roberts. He has been a resident of Albuquerque for most of his life where he graduated from Sandia High School in 1961. Melvin and his wife, Mary Ann were married on June 30, 1967 in Albuquerque. He loved being with his family and many friends that he made throughout the years and spending time at his business. His interests and activities included volunteering at Roadrunner Little League, officiating high school and youth baseball and football, being an officer and member of the Elks Lodge, and assisting at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. He served in the Vietnam War for the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965 at which time he transferred to the Naval Reserves. He was employed by Chevron USA for 25 years and became a business owner in 1993. Melvin will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving and devoted family man and will be cherished for his valiant spirit, love of life and selfless courage in the face of adversity. He sets an example for all. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Ann; children, Damian and wife, Lillian and Darin; grandchildren, Lawrence, Tanner and Spencer; parents, John and Helen Roberts; brothers, Garry and Roger; and numerous loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will never be forgotten. Vincent was born in Albuquerque on June 29, 1955 in Albuquerque, the son of Lawrence Franklin and Frances Irene (Neville) Roop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Vincent was employed as a field engineer in computer systems. He is remembered for his strong faith. His family will miss his smile and his high energy. He was preceded in death by his parents and in April of this year; his daughter, Katrina. Vincent is survived by his wife, Cathalina; children: Joseph, Matthew, Steven, Jeremy, Samantha, and Christy. He is also survived by his brother, David; sisters; Marilyn Gastellum, Dorothy Jewett, and Nadine Moku; numerous nieces, nephews; and his father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Dolores Serna. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Vista Verde Mortuary; Sara Rd. and Meadowlark Ln. in Rio Rancho. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, October 7, 2005 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd, in Rio Rancho. Interment will follow in the Patriots Garden of Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road. A Reception will be held at the home of Richard and Nadine Moku, 324 Asbury Road, NE, Rio Rancho. SAWYER -- Myrtie Lew "You are my Sunshine" Myrtie Lew Sawyer, beloved mother, grandmother, and a kind-hearted and generous friend passed away unexpectedly September 30, 2005 while hiking in the canyons of Price, UT. Myrtie was born to Virginialea and Elmer Sawyer on September 28, 1942 in Blackwell, OK. She was raised in Oklahoma and then in Albuquerque, NM. She attended schools in Albuquerque and graduated from Highland High. She then attended John Brown University where she received her bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in English. Upon graduation she landed a job in Carson City, NV. She taught high school Biology at Carson High School. She met her husband, John Horgan while teaching there her first year. They were married in March 1964. They resided in Carson City where they had two beautiful daughters, Anne Margaret and Mary Catherine. She first volunteered and then taught science and math at St. Teresa's for several years while her daughters attended there. Myrtie had a great thirst for knowledge. She obtained her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nevada in Reno. She and John were divorced in 1980. Her second Masters brought her to Utah. With 2 children she set out on an adventure to seek a Masters in School Counseling at the U of U. She has been a counselor with the Granite School District at Valley Jr. High for the past 17 years. Myrtie has touched many lives in her line of work, mostly because she truly cared about people. She was a dedicated and hard working person who never shied away from anything. Myrtie had a quick wit and a keen mind. She was an avid reader; she loved to travel and enjoyed bowling, movies, U of U games, nature, and spending time with the Packard Family. Myrtie enjoyed collecting scrap booking paper and stamps - we were just waiting to get started. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginialea; her father, Elmer; her daughter, Mary; and stepfather, J.D. Wallace. She is survived by her daughter, Anne and son-in-law, Rex Pico and their beautiful children, Matthew, Shanna, Jessica, Charity, Andrew, and Sarah; aunt, Olive Richardson of Albuquerque; and her adopted family, Char Packard's Family (Mike, Jake, Erin, and Phill, Adri and Corby). Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She proudly displayed their artwork in her home and office. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at the Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT. SHOATS -- Daniel Dean Biagi Shoats and Ellen Jeanne Schippers Shoats died Saturday, October 1, 2005 in an automobile accident. Daniel is survived by his children, Leah Maria Shoats, Russell Thomas Shoats, and Dominic Dean Shoats; brother, Rudolph Thomas Shoats and wife, Jamie Rothmeyer; sisters, Soledad (Sally) Hindi and husband, Joseph, Elizabeth Shoats and husband, Roy Wade, and Marlene Shoats Weaks and husband, Dan Weaks. TURNER -- Elsie C. Turner, 96, passed away September 25, 2005 at the Great Barrington Nursing Center in Great Barrington, MA. Born in Austerlitz, NY to George and Nellie Carpenter March 23, 1909. Preceded in death by her husband, John S.; son, Eugene S.; daughters, Geraldine Huggins and Joan Wheeler; grandson, Leo Turner, Jr.; and sister, Rachel Tobias. Survived by daughters, Marjorie Gruen and Natalie Abbott of Albuquerque; sons, John R. of Whiting, NJ and Leo C. Turner, also of Albuquerque; sister, Ruth Radick; and half-sister, Geneva Griswold of Florida; and half-brother, Roger Webster of Massachusetts. In addition, there are 31 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Elsie was a loyal attendee at the First Congregational Church in Stockbridge, MA, where Funeral Services were held on September 29, 2005. VAN WYK -- Joseph William Van Wyk, age 82, of Albuquerque, went to be with his Lord Monday, October 3, 2005. Joe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Throughout his life he had been active in his church and while in Midland, MI, he helped organize the Midland Christian School. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa (Teri); daughter, Beverly; son, Joe; and daughter, Donna Haynes and husband, Stan; grandsons, Joshua, Christopher, and Eric; and granddaughter, Lanay; brothers, William and Earl. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley and Lanae in 1977. WILLIAMS -- Rose Grubesic Williams, born October 11, 1915, in Florence, CO, died October 1, 2005, at Laurel View Health Center. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husbands, John L. Grubesic in 1935 and Guy Williams in 1987. Eight siblings also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy King and husband, James M. King of Albuquerque with whom she made her home; one granddaughter, Margie Stark of Albuquerque; two grandsons, James C. Stanley and wife, Elizabeth of Cincinnati, OH, John L. Stanley and wife, Genie of Neenah, WI; four great-grandchildren, Travis Stark and Melissa Stark of Albuquerque, Jimmy Stanley and Amanda Stanley of Neenah, WI.
