CARTER -- Mary C. Carter, age 102, a resident of Belen, New Mexico, joined our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 26, 2005. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Belen, and the German Club. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Hildry A. Carter in 1952; two sons, H.A. Carter and Charles Carter. She is survived by her children, Nolan Carter and his wife, Suzy of El Paso, TX, Fredda Schwisow, and her husband, Dewayne of Tuscon, AZ, Mary Curtis and her husband, Raymond of Elephant Butte, NM, Frank Carter of Palm Springs, NM, Murill Malone of Alpena, AK; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at the Church of Christ in Belen, beginning with a viewing at 1:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery, Belen. HAYES -- Warren H. Hayes, 85, passed away Friday, August 26, 2005, at home in Edgewood, New Mexico after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Ginger, of 39 years. He is further survived by his sons, David Hayes and wife, Verna, Christopher Hayes and wife, Kathleen; his daughters, Minka Eric and husband, Paul, Maleen Millmine and husband, Bobby, Connie Hayes and Vaughn Young; his daughter-in-law, Mary Hayes; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and his son, Charles Hayes. Mr. Hayes retired from Holmes & Narver, a construction engineering company, and moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Albuquerque, and later to Edgewood, New Mexico. He was an accomplished artist and enjoyed working in his home and garden during his retirement. 1st Lt. Hayes, USA 116 th Inf., a World War II veteran, served his country on D-Day, June 6, 1944, where he sustained a combat injury. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Memorial services for Mr. Hayes will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, September 1, 2005, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. He will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, with full military honors.

HENSLEY -- Olga. Mrs. Olga Hensley, 88, a resident of Moriarty, New Mexico passed away on August 27, 2005. Mrs. Hensley is survived by one son, Francisco (Frank) Seldner and wife, Violanda; three grandchildren, Selina Romero and husband, Thomas, Arlene Calcutt and husband, Billy, and Sandra Seldner; ten great grandchildren, Michelle, Daniel, Manuel, Jessica, Jacob, Alyssa, Michael, Michelle, Sarah and Rebecca and one great great granddaughter, Taylor. Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hensley and a grandson, Francisco (Pancho) Seldner. Mrs. Hensley was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. HERRERA -- Anthony Alonzo Herrera, age 71, born in Albuquerque in 1934, passed away after a short illness Tuesday, August 23, 2005. He is survived by his son, Richard Herrera and wife, Mellany, their children, Richard and Carolyn; son, Anthony Herrera and his daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Brian Howe; grandchildren, Natasha, Antoinette; great-grandchildren, Isiah and Brian Jr.; brothers, Alex and wife, Barbara, Gilbert and wife, Sadie, Ralph, Raymond and wife, Betty of Cerritos, CA and Ronald Herrera and wife, Loraine of Covina, CA; sisters, Isabella Saley and Rita Herther; brother-in-law, Frank N. Lovato; and sister-in-law, Lou Herrera. Mr. Herrera was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Juana Ortiz Herrera; father, Antonio Aranda Herrera; brothers, Herb and Ignacio; and sister, Evangeline Lovato. He received many commendations while serving in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged in 1965. He later became an Air Traffic Controller until he retired in 1994. Anthony (Mort) walked through life with a kind and gentle spirit. LUCERO -- Alegra C. Lucero, 17, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 25, 2005. Alegra is survived by her parents, Yolanda Ulibarri and George Lucero; grandparents, Ramona Ulibarri and Edward Ulibarri; brother, Damian; sister, Desiree; Uncle Dion, Aunt Shauna; nephew, Dajuan Jr.; cousins, Morriah and Nathaniel; as well as her other uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. And that special guy, Ralph Tafoya. Alegra was a member of the Catholic Church and was a senior at Del Norte High School. The Family will be celebrating and reflecting on her life with a Rosary, Funeral Service and Burial. The Rosary will be recited at Risen Savior on Tuesday, Aug 30 at 6:00 p.m. Mass will also be held at Risen Savior on Wednesday, Aug 31 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. LUJAN -- Rick Lujan, 51 of Rio Rancho went to be with the Lord the 23rd day of August 2005. Rick was born to Manuel and Maime Lujan on the 3rd day of April 1954 and preceded them in death along with brother- in-laws Ralph Aguirre and Henry Smith Jr. (Wedo). At the time of Rick's passing he was surrounded by many that loved him. He was a caring, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was survived by his wife, Virginia Lujan; three daughters, Sandra and husband, Ray Garza, Jennifer Lujan and Gerald Sandoval, and Jami Hodges; four sons, Michael Lujan, Nicholas Lujan, Jake Hodges and Adrian Smith; four grandchildren, Ray, Aubrianna, Jacob, & Antonia; his in-laws, Henry and Linda Smith; sister-in-law, Valarie Huerta and husband, Manuel and brother- in-law, Matthew Smith. Rick was also survived by his siblings, Manuel Lujan and wife, Cathy, Ann Aguirre and husband, Ralph, Helen Cruz and husband, Joe, Michael Cassidy, Pat Cassidy and wife, Susie, Bernadette Lopez and husband, Henry, Mary Louise Booth and husband, Ernest, Debra Goryanec and husband, George, Paul Lujan and Melissa, Mark Lujan, Lisa Lujan and several nieces, nephews and friends. Rick was a wonderful, beautiful person with a personality that would light up any room and he will be missed by everyone he touched. MAESTAS -- David J. Maestas, 44, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 26, 2005. David is survived by his wife, Carol Torres; his beloved mother, Priscilla Maestas; a daughter, April Trujillo and husband, Derrick; eight sisters, Katharine Gutierrez and husband, Jerry, Susan Anaya and husband, Bobby, Linda Armijo and husband, Chris, Frances Aragon and husband, Eloy, Patsy Javaheripour and husband, Farhad, Vicky Maestas and Ernest Romero, Evelyn Maestas and Robert Selfridge, Renee Hogan and Joe Fulton; four brothers, Jacob Maestas Jr., Anthony Maestas and Arlene, Edward Maestas and Stephanie, Joseph Maestas and Diane; one grandson, Jacob Trujillo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. David was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Maestas and a brother, Richard Maestas. David was a member of the Catholic Church and he was a wonderful man with a big heart who loved his family. A visitation for David will be Monday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A visitation will be Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at San Martin Church with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father John. Interment will follow at Mt. MANZANARES -- Tambra Lynn Manzanares, beloved wife and mother, went home to the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 after a 2 year battle with Small-Cell Cancer. She was 34 years old. She is survived by her husband, Aaron, 35; daughters, Arianna, 9, and Andrea, 6, of Albuquerque. She was the daughter of Barbara and Paul Richards of California and Jack Williams of Washington state. She was the sister of Robert and Melissa Buyance, Scott and Brenda Williams, and Dennis and Melissa Williams, all of California, and Christie and Everett Cranmer of Colorado. Tammy and Aaron spent 20 years together, becoming high school sweethearts in 1985. Tammy was a loving wife and mother and was working towards a nursing degree when she was diagnosed in 2003. Tammy enjoyed travel, the outdoors, Jazzercise and spending time with family and friends. Tammy was loved by all who knew her and had a particularly strong bond with children. She will be dearly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Monday August 29, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Strong-Thorne Mortuary Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, immediately followed by a Cemetery Service at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE. A reception will take place at the Manzanares Family home following the services. All who knew Tambra and her family are welcomed to attend.

RICHTER -- Kathryn Leslie Richter, 46, a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Albuquerque Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Timothy; two children, Kristin and David; two dogs; and her cat, Ricky. She is also survived by her parents, Richard and Audrey Elliott; sister, Laura, and her husband, Curtis; brother, Mark, and his wife Jodi; as well as by her husband's parents, Don and Jackie Richter; and brothers, Tom and his son, Nate, Mark and his son, Zachary, and sister, Susan, and her children, Jordon and Marena. Kathy was born November 6, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1966, she and her family moved from Fargo, North Dakota to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Timothy Richter, on June 20, 1980, and celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Kathy was baptized, confirmed, and married by her father in the Lutheran Church. She was truly a child of God, with a very deep faith and strong morals. Although private in her personal life, she loved working with people. She never failed to help those in need and was a witness and a light to many throughout her life. Her positive attitude, and desire to help others, influenced everyone around her. Kathy was very devoted to her children, providing great support to Kristin, and many other dancers, at the Alwin School of Dance. She loved to go to soccer games to watch her son David, play soccer. She was very proud of her children. Kathy was an American Board Certified Optician, and for many years she was employed as an optician in Albuquerque. For the past ten years, Kathy felt blessed to be employed as Business Assistant at the dental office of Michael Haight and Greg Lopour. Kathy's family would like to thank all of their relatives and friends for their kind expression of sympathy extended during this time of loss. Memorial Services will be held at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna Road, NE, on Wednesday, August 31, 2005. The time of service will be in Tuesday's paper. SHUGHART -- John P. "Johnny" Shughart passed away Thursday, August 25, 2005 in Albuquerque at the age of 76. He was born April 23, 1929 in Cumberland County, PA. He married Mabel Harbold on December 3, 1949. They farmed in Pennsylvania until 1958 when they moved their family to Albuquerque. Johnny worked road construction for Joe Hastings and Don Hastings until 1970 when he started Johnny's Pumping Service. He was the owner-operator for 25 years and retired in 1995. Johnny and Mabel celebrated 55 years of marriage last December. Johnny is survived by his wife, Mabel; their two children, Linda Kay Condrey of Farmington, NM and Terry Lee Shughart and wife, Mary of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Kelli Lee Condrey of Irvine, CA and John W. and Christopher T. Condrey of Farmington, NM; step-grandson, Mike Shughart of Wisconsin; and two brothers, Nevin C. and Larry D. Shughart of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willis Shughart and sister, Evelyn Kilmore. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
