BACA -- Leo L. Baca, age 43, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 14, 2005. Leo will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him. Leo was employed with UNM for fifteen years then with APS for five years. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Filomeno and Grace Baca and his brother, Leroy Baca. COLE -- Nancy Mayland Cole, born June 29, 1940, was unexpectedly called by her Lord on August 13, 2005, to join her father, Jennings Lewis Mayland; her mother, Dorothy Blinn Mayland; and her sister, Janet Mayland Lindberg. She is survived by her sister, Lois Mayland; her three sons, Jeffrey Reuben, Stephen Jennings, and Kevin Lee; Stephen's wife, Katie, and their twin daughters, Avery Claire and Madison Elizabeth. Nancy was a loving mother and grandmother. A longtime elementary school teacher with APS, she invested her life in the lives of others. Nancy loved and was loved by her friends and family alike, and she will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE. COLLINS -- Darrel Collins died on Friday, August 12, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Virginia on June 1, 1922. He migrated to Oregon in 1949 with his wife and daughter. He worked in the lumber industry and public utilities until his retirement in 1984. He later lived in Arkansas and most recently in New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor; daughter, Donna and her husband, Don McTaggart.

JORDAN -- IRVINE G. Prominent Albuquerque surgeon Dr. Irvine G. Jordan passed away at his home the evening of Monday, August 15, 2005. A native of Dallas, TX, Dr. Jordan was a graduate of Texas A & M University and Tulane University School of Medicine. He served as a battlefield surgeon and commander of a MASH unit in the Korean War, and settled in Albuquerque in 1956 where he was a senior partner in Albuquerque Orthopedic Associates. He retired from medical practice in 1985, but stayed active by devoting his time to Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church and to charitable activities including Habitat for Humanity, and by exercising his considerable artistic talents with the New Mexico Watercolor Society. Dr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Jean Rentz; three children, Robert, Ann, and Jennifer; and six grandchildren. One son, Douglas, preceded him in death. His family remembers him as a man of great character and generosity on whose love and support all could depend, and they will miss him immeasurably. KEHOE -- Dorothy Agnes Kehoe, age 78, was called home on August 14, 2005 to be reunited with the love of her life, Gerald Bernard Kehoe, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her death were her parents, William and Mildred Wynne of Stephentown, NY; brothers, Raymond and Johnny; sister, Mildred Stoker; and granddaughter, Michelle Alger. She is survived by her children, her vocation in life, Michael Jude Kehoe, Timothy W. Kehoe and wife, Patty, Dennis B. Kehoe and wife, Ruth, Susan R. and husband, Rod Bray, Matthew J. Kehoe, Jerry B. Kehoe, Moira E. and husband, Jeff Alger, Patrick J. Kehoe and wife, Sandra. Her adored grandchildren include Sean, Jim, Rabeka, Megan, Michelle, Siobhan, Shana, Chad, Brendon, Sheila, Josh, Alicia, Charlotte, Gerald, and Cameron. Her surviving siblings include her brothers and sisters, Harold, Billy, Joan, and Ellen; as well as many relatives and dear friends. Dottie was born July 24, 1927 in Richmond Hill, Long Island, Jerry and Dottie were married in the Bronx, NYC on November 27, 1954, she began her family in the Bronx and later moved to Edgewood, NM. She was a long time resident of Albuquerque. Being active and dedicated in the her Catholic faith, the first mass for St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Church in Edgewood, NM was held at her home. She was active with the Brothers of the Good Shepherd, Catholic Daughters, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Dorothy was known for her 'gift of gab' and knew no stranger. Dorothy was an inspiration to all who knew her, for her dedication and love for her family, her friends, and her faith. She will be dearly missed. There will be no viewing. A Rosary service will be recited at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, August 17, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, August 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., Lomas at Tennessee NE, Albuquerque, NM. KIDD -- John E. Kidd, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Sunday, August 14, 2005. He was born in London, England in 1928. MARSHALL -- Brent Ernest Marshall, age 41, a resident of Rio Rancho, died on August 14, 2005. He is the son of W. Ernest Marshall and Carolyn Marshall of Portales. POLANIS -- Raymond James Polanis, of Albuquerque, NM, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 after a short illness. He was born Sunday, April 8, 1934 in Denver, CO, the son of Laura Herkett Polanis and Edward Francis Polanis. Mr. Polanis was a 1955 graduate of St. Regis College in Denver and was employed by General Electric for over 30 years. He was a long time active member of the Tanoan Country Club and the New Mexico TTOS Model Railroad Club. Mr. Polanis is survived by his wife, Barbara Polanis; three children, Ms. Christine Ballard of Kingman, AZ, Dr. Rene McEldowney of Auburn AL and Mr. Larry Polanis of Albuquerque, NM; and a granddaughter, Miss Elizabeth McEldowney of Auburn, AL. POSLER -- Julia J. Martinez Posler, an Albuquerque resident for 16 years, died on Monday, August 15, 2005. She was born on November 23, 1924 in Gallup, NM, the only child of Jose Maria Martinez and Charlotte Baca Martinez. She graduated from high school in San Bernardino, CA. Julia married Richard Posler, DDS on June 18, 1949 and lived in Detroit, MI and later in Pinckney, MI until their retirement. In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by seven children: daughter, Barbara Posler and husband, William S. Long of Albuquerque; daughter, Diane and husband, Patrick Moylan of Duvall, WA; son, John J. Posler and wife, Linda of Cedar Crest, NM; son, James C. RYAN -- JOHN JOSEPH RYAN, age 89, of Santa Fe, NM. Passed away on Monday, August 15, 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, M. John was born in Hoboken, NJ, August 8, 1916, to William Michael Ryan and Margaret Monteque-Ryan. He grew up in Hoboken, NJ, around Frank Sinatra. After World War II, John moved to Santa Fe, NM and married the love of his life. He started working as a cab driver, then for Coca Cola. He worked as Credit Manager for PNM for 24 years until he retired. John is survived by his daughter, Sheila J. Ryan of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, Carena M. Schumacher and her fiance, Ricky E. SMITH -- Ronald B Smith "Ron", our father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2005 after a long Illness. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie. SMITH -- Travis Ray Smith, 2, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2005. He is survived by his mother, Kari Smith of Albuquerque and his father, Craig Smith of Franklin, TX; sisters, Destiny Rose Smith and Brenna LeAnn Lovato; and many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. Travis was born on October 15, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was a loving little boy, strong and full of energy. He was playful and fun to be around. Travis was a beloved son, brother, and grandson and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. SULLIVAN -- Andy Sullivan, Jr., was born in Hillsboro, NM on February 6, 1936. He entered eternal rest in Alamogordo, NM on August 15, 2005 on his last car adventure. He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Sullivan, Sr., by his mother, Beatrice Carabajal and spouse, Molly Sullivan and favorite cuniado and singing partner, Robert Chavez. Andy is survived by his three children - Beatrice M. Sullivan of Elephant Butte, NM; Darwin A. Sullivan of TorC, NM and Jeffrey J. and wife, Stacey Sullivan of Elephant Butte, NM; by his grandchildren - Kaylin, Jesse, Andrew Bridgett and Emily and "Tuffy". He is also survived by step-mother - Veronica Sullivan of TorC, NM; by his sisters, Nancy Chavez of Monticello, NM; Lucy Gonzales of Las Cruces, NM; Connie and husband, Andy Baca of TorC, NM; Dolores and husband, Tony Orosco of Albuquerque, NM; Louise and husband, Rick Masingale of TorC, NM; Elizabeth and husband, Calvin Cryer of Luis Lopez, NM and Virginia and husband, Phillip Sedillo of Silver City, NM; by his brothers, Ronald and wife, Jeanette Sullivan and Jerry Sullivan of TorC, NM; Gary and wife, Carol Sullivan of Las Cruces, NM; and Mark Sullivan of Tucson, AZ; by his cousin whom was like a brother, Robert "Titters" Benavides of Santa Fe, NM, along with numerous nieces, nephews and primos. Mr. Sullivan had many nicknames, such as - "Pado", "Sonny", "Lefty", "Sully", "Cuz", "Big G", "Big S" and was known in Santa Fe as "Ramblin Sandy Ullivan." While still just a child, he made his dying mother a promise to care for his two younger sisters, Nancy and Lucy, which he adamantly kept until his last day on earth. Mr. Sullivan was affluent in Spanish, and when asked how he learned to speak Spanish, and his reply was - "We spent the summers with my grandmother in Central, NM, where everybody spoke Spanish. They used to beat me up because I only spoke English! By the end of the first summer, I learned Spanish." In the Fall, we lived with my other grandmother, in Santa Fe to attend school, and those kids beat me up too, because by then, I would hardly speak English. Mr. Sullivan was a 1954 graduate of St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe, where he proudly attended his 50th Class Reunion in October, 2004. He loved athletics and participated in football, basketball and track, and wore the #21 jersey proudly. After graduation, Andy was employed by the N.M. Highway Department as a Surveying Engineer. While surveying the highway between Kingston, he met and soon married the woman he always loved, Molly (Garcia) Sullivan of Hillsboro, NM. He also worked for various surveying and engineering firms, including, Wilson & Co.; and Molzen & Corbin. Later on, he co-founded and operated Albuquerque Surveying Company. Mr. Sullivan returned to Sierra County in 1975 to take over his father's business - General Auto Sales, which he owned and operated for 30 years. He is fondly remembered as a wonderful father, the hardest worker in New Mexico who always helped his family. He was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Elk's Lodge, the TorC Recreation Board, Sierra County Democratic Party, New Mexico National Guard, Moose Lodge, Sierra County Sheriff's Posse. His hobbies included Quarter Horse Match Racing, mountain trout fishing, mule deer hunting, motivating local Tiger athletes and would foot race anybody, anytime, anywhere for any amount and never lost. He also enjoyed singing corridos, treasure hunting, seeing new country in a 4x4 vehicle and mostly landscaping to perfection. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and business associates. "Vaya Con Dios" . Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 19, 2005 in the Chapel of Kirikos Family Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church led by Deacon Adam Sanchez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sean Garrity, CSB officiating. Serving as Casket Bearers are Jessie Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, Robert Chavez, Lawrence Chavez, Eric Chavez and George Biel. Honorary Casket Bearers are Andy Baca, Francis Teeter, William Renfro, Eric Armijo, Ray Chavez, Mike Gonzales and Jared Butterworth and Robert Benavides. Cremation will follow. TRUJILLO -- SIMPLICIO. Mr. Simplicio (Sam) Trujillo, 85, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque in Old Town, passed away on August 17, 2005 with his loving family by his side. He has gone home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Candie (Dulcenia) Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo was born in Sedillo Hill, NM on May 2, 1920. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Dorothy Martinez and husband, Charlie, Wilma Eylicio and husband, John, Jerry Trujillo and wife, Esther, Leo Trujillo and wife, Lorraine, Mary Abeyta, Andy Trujillo, and Joe Trujillo. 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Trujillo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Candie (Dulcenia) Trujillo; his parents, Placida Baca and step-father, Luis Baca, his father, Leonardo Trujillo; sons, Ruben and Ernie Trujillo; a grandson, Michael Abetya; son in law, Candy Abeyta; and two daughters in law, Socorro and Marlene Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church, a member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army. He received a Purple Heart and two Silver Star Awards for Gallantry in Action in Germany. A visitation for Mr. Trujillo will be Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Jimmy Rael. A final visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose de Los Durans Mission, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW by Monsignor Leo Lucero. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Military Honors by the United States Army. TUCHFARBER -- Edythe Marlene Tuchfarber, RN, EdD, 67, professor emerita of nursing at the University of New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 15, 2005, with her beloved "Laddie" at her side. She was born October 17, 1937, in Keokuk, IA, to Edmund and Katheryn (nee Coffield) Tuchfarber, but the family made Los Alamos, NM, their home. In addition to receiving a diploma and bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA, Edythe earned a master's degree in nursing from Marquette University, and a doctoral degree in education from the University of New Mexico. Edythe was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Kay Thurn; brothers, Bill Tuchfarber and Steve Tuchfarber; sister-in-law, Dee Tuchfarber; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Edythe leaves behind a legacy of educating hundreds of nurses in New Mexico and Wisconsin during her 25+ years in academia. Her passion in teaching was Growth & Development and Pediatric Nursing. During her tenure at UNM, Edythe was an active member of the UNM community in such areas as the Faculty Senate, Faculty Senate Operations Committee, Budget Committee, Athletic Council, and BUS advisory council. She took special pride in being a member of nursing's honor society, Sigma Theta Tau International, and was actively involved in the local Gamma Sigma chapter prior to her retirement in 1996. When her health permitted, Edythe loved playing the piano and socializing at bridge. She could always be counted on for preparing her "famous fudge" when the need arose. She was also known for the afghans and baby blankets she lovingly knitted for family and friends. "Edythe, we were blessed having you in our lives, and will miss you. But we know you are now resting peacefully in the arms of your dear Savior." The family would like to thank Edythe's nurses, doctors, and other health care providers for their kindness and care. They would all probably agree that she was a teacher to the very end. VIZCARRA -- Carl Vizcarra passed away on August 15, 2005. He was born September 22, 1934 in Peru. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 to attend college. He served his country in the US Army for 20 years, including service in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the service, he was a businessman in El Paso, TX, where he was active in local politics. He retired to Albuquerque in 1993. Carl continued his life long love of learning by studying language at UNM where he earned a master's degree. He enjoyed poetry and published a book of his poems composed in five languages. Carl is survived by his wife of 47 years, Herta and daughter, Susan Vizcarra, both of Sandia Park; son, Mario G. Vizcarra and wife, Peggy Harris and grandsons, Will and Stephen of Fairfax Station, VA. He is also survived by sisters, Wilma Amantea and Carmen Vizcarra of San Francisco; and his nieces, Maria and Gladys; and nephew, Carlos. Visitation will be Thursday, August 18, 2005, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Funeral Mass will be held at San Antonito Catholic Church, Friday, August 19, 2005, 10:00 a.m. Interment will be Friday, 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
