BENNETT -- Polly Hummel Bennett (Mrs. George S.) died peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2005. She was born to Miriam and Edgar Carroll Hummel on September 7, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Marlborough School for Girls in Los Angeles and The University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Drama and English. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was active until her death. She was also a lifelong member of the Junior League. Polly married George S. Bennett Jr. in 1945. George preceded Polly in death in May of 2003. She is survived by her children: Margaret Lewis of Salt Lake City; Barbara Ritchie of Denver; Mary Anderson of Albuquerque; George Bennett III of Kailua-Kona, and Donald Bennett of Midland. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren: Cynthia Lewis of Salt Lake City, Kelly McKane and Peter Hyer of San Francisco, Meghan and Jessica Anderson of Albuquerque, Benjamin Bennett of New York City, Samuel and Jesse Bennett of Kailua-Kona, and Brent and Belinda Bennett of Midland; as well as two great-grandchildren: Michael and Luke McKane of San Francisco. George and Polly had an illustrious career in the Navy, which included a nine-year post in Hawaii while George served as a submarine commander. She moved to Albuquerque with her family in 1962, and has been a resident and staunch supporter of the community and various organizations ever since. Over the years she was active in the Ko Shari Garden Club, The Council of Albuquerque Garden Clubs, The Old Glass Club, The Junior League of Albuquerque, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni; and was currently serving on the board of directors of the Woodmark Residents Council and the Knife and Fork Club. She was a pillar of the St. Mark's on the Mesa Altar Guild. She and George were very active in the Albuquerque Tennis Club and Tanoan Country Club, where they enjoyed tennis, golf, and bridge with their many, many friends. Polly will always be remembered as a friend to all she met. Young and old will remember Polly as one who was always full of support and enthusiasm, and all appreciated her contagious positive attitude. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Pl. NE. CORDOVA -- PETE C. Mr. Pete C. Cordova, a resident of Old Town, died August 9, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Edna Romero, at the age of 87 years. Mr. Cordova is preceded in death by his wife, Eufersin Cordova; a son, Robert Cordova; his father, Eulauterio Cordova; his mother, Raquel Cordova; two sisters, Rosa Sedillo and Delfinia Duran. Mr. Cordova is survived by two sons, Edwin Cordova and wife, Anita and Art Cordova and wife, Dunae; three daughters, Edna Romero and husband, Jose, Sylvia Baca, and Jacqueline Mora. Mr. Cordova has 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Cordova is also survived by one brother, Bennie Cordova; and one sister, Felicita (Sally) Martinez. Mr. Cordova retired from Duke City Lumber Co. after 33 years of service. He was born on October 27, 1917 in Kelly, NM. He was married on October 23, 1938 and shared 62 beautiful years with his wife, Eufersin Cordova. We, the family, will continue to believe that he died of a broken heart missing her every day she was gone. May God bless them both and may they rest in peace together Mr. & Mrs. Pete Cordova. DURKEE -- Grace Durkee, 94, died August 8, 2005 in Albuquerque after a life filled with travel and rewarding experiences. Widow of Burton Durkee and survived by daughters, Susan McGuire of Cedar Crest, NM, Kathryn Wright of Los Angeles, CA and Nancy Brenner of Vashon Island, WA; as well as six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. GABALDON -- Pauline Gabaldon, born August 11, 1926 in Albuquerque, NM passed away late Thursday August 11, 2005 on her 79 birthday, in Albuquerque supported by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Floren (Gabby) Gabaldon; son, Charles (Chuck) Perea and wife, Corliss; granddaughter, Tanya Perea-Walker and husband, Rob Walker; grandson, Christopher Perea; stepdaughters, Belinda Prehn and husband, Mark, and Karen Gabaldon and husband, Jeff Solon; seven great grandchildren, Candice, Matthew, Jacob, Jeremiah, Adam, Joel, and Alexandra; two brothers, Archie Sanchez and wife, Rita, Deceased, and Richard Sanchez and wife, Francis; four sisters, Suzie Baca and husband, Herman, Deceased, Becky Chavez and husband, Joe, Olivia Castillo and husband, Martin, Deceased, and Ramona Anaya and husband, Miramon; as well as many nieces and nephews. Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, and nana who always gave of herself. She graciously volunteered her time for relief efforts following the earthquakes in Guatemala in 1976 and was a Peace Corps volunteer along with her husband Gabby in Jamaica from 1979 to 1982. She enjoyed traveling in her motor homes all across the country and particularly loved going to Las Vegas. Pauline also possessed a love of baking and cooking that began at an early age when she worked in her family's bakery. She loved cooking for her family and friends and always had her legendary homemade beans, chili and tortillas ready for anyone who would drop by. In addition Pauline truly had a "green thumb" and her lavish gardens and flowers were a magnificent reflection of the sweet, beautiful woman she was. Pauline also always took care of any family member or friend who took ill and gave endlessly and selflessly of her time to those in need. A Rosary Service will be recited at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Sunday August 14, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Eggert officiating on Tuesday August 16, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. Internment of remains will immediately follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice and Jennifer, Martha, Lawanda, Stacy, Tim, Don and Dr. Metzger from the CCC unit at Presbyterian Hospital for the gentle and loving care they gave "Nana" in her final days. GARFIELD -- Duane R. Garfield, 77, an Albuquerque resident since 1963, died Monday, August 8, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Garfield of Albuquerque; son, Rand Garfield and wife, Pam of Corrales, NM; daughters, Leslie Gaudet and husband, Jack of Southbridge, VA, Gail Garfield of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Chelsey and Nicole Garfield both of Corrales, NM, Angela Wallace and husband, Frank Ramirez of Albuquerque, Joshua Gaudet, Jacqueline Gaudet, and Melissa Gaudet, all of Southbridge, VA; great-grandchildren, Trey, Carlos and Marcos Ramirez, Trinity Berry, and Hailey Gaudet; sister, Nancy Amend and husband, Dale of Albuquerque; brothers, Wilbur Garfield and wife, Marguerite of Ft. HALL -- Verna Hall, 100, a lifelong resident of the Albuquerque area passed away on August 11, 2005 at Harmony House in Rio Rancho. Ms. Hall was born on July 15, 1905 to Sabino and Victoriana Montoya of Bernalillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Hall, in 1994. Together, Archie and Verna had one son, Henry Hall, who now lives in San Dimas, CA. She is survived by her son; her grandsons, Henry Hall, Jr. and his wife, Denise, and John Hall and his wife, Stephanie; five great-grandchildren, Kassie, Jesse, John Jr., Alyssa and Brooke; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options. HENDREN -- Ramona R. Hendren, age 94, passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Tuesday, August 9, 2005. Ramona R. Hendren was born July 2, 1911 in Clayton, in the Territory of New Mexico. She was a direct descendent of the Original Spanish Pioneer Settlers that came to the Territory of New Mexico before Statehood in 1912. She was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM. Surviving Ramona R. Hendren are three daughters: Elizabeth Hendren of Rio Rancho, NM, Katherine Schmucker and husband, Art of Topeka, KS, Rita Feigl and husband, Tom of Orland Park, IL; four sons: Rev. Fr. Lucian C. Hendren of Albuquerque, NM, W. S. (Bert) Hendren and wife, Rosalee of Denver, CO, Philip Hendren and wife, Patsy of Albuquerque, NM, and Vincent Hendren and wife, Kathy of Minneapolis, MN; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by by her husband, Lucian Hendren in 1989; and by three children; and two grandchildren; and by two sisters. Rosary will be recited in the Dunn Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening, August 14, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Monday morning 10:00 a.m. in the St. Anne's Catholic Church with Rev. KARO -- Carmelita Karo, longtime resident, passed away while in Colorado. She was a resident of Albuquerque since the early 40's, coming from Wyoming to work with the Navy in the war effort. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Hollowwa of Albuquerque. Matthew Connors of Livermore, CA; her sons, Tim Karo of Pacifica, CA and James C. Karo of Golden, CO. MAZON -- Jerry Lee Mazon passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 of natural causes. He was born on September 28, 1947 in Grants, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eskie and Seferina Mazon. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie H. Mazon; daughter, Denise Mazon; son, Michael Mazon and wife, Rebecca; the mother of his children, Lucille Mazon, and son, Christopher Sena; grandchildren, Trevor, Jaiden, Isaiah Mazon, and Amaris Sena; brothers, Raymond and Alex Mazon; mother-in-law, Mary Gonzales; brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio and wife, Lila, Santiago and wife, Shirley, Angela, Fred and wife, Vicki, Albert and wife, Inez, Abelico and wife, Debi, David and wife, Angela, Eduardo and wife, Diane Gonzales, Dorella Zenz, Merlinda and husband, Joe Olguin, Flora and husband, John Mullen, Rosita and husband, Robert Salazar, Emilia and husband, Paul Fudala, Claire and husband, Eric Chavez; and numerous nieces and nephews. MOJARRO -- Daniel Mojarro, 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 11, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cecilia Mojarro; son, Charles A. Mojarro; neice, Julia Mojarro; grandsons, Michael and Eric Mojarro; great-grandson, Christopher Mojarro; and sisters, Anita Perea, LoLa Perez, Helen Sisneros and husband, Bernard. ROSS -- Charles F. Ross, 79, an Albuquerque resident for over seventy years, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Helen Ross of Albuquerque; sons, Jeff Ross and wife, Lia of Tijeras, NM; daughter, Sally Ross of Albuquerque; step-son, Bobby R. Thompson of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Leah, Greg, Misty, John, Frank, and Matthew; daughter-in-law, Ann Ross of Rio Rancho, NM. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Marjorie Ruth Ross and a son, Pete Ross. Mr. Ross was a US Navy veteran of WWII. SIEVERT -- Debra Sievert, 52, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Paul Sievert; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Katie Sievert; mother, Gladys Davidson, all of Albuquerque; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Wayne Brummett of Placitas and T.Ree and Steven Snow of Shreveport, LA; God-sister, Coco Emberson and her husband, Ian of Kauai; nephew, Chad Brummett; nephew, Eric Brummett and his wife, Kelly of Albuquerque; nephews, Andrew and Luke Snow of Shreveport, LA; and great-niece, Emily Brummett of Albuquerque. Special love and thanks to her "Hot Tub Troop." Debra was an APS physical education teacher for twenty-nine years. She taught at Kennedy Middle School for twenty-four years and at Highland and Eldorado High School earlier in her career. Debra received a variety of state and national awards during her twenty-nine year career and was honored to have the Albuquerque Public School Board dedicate the Kennedy Middle School Gynasium in her memory. WAGNER -- Mark W. Wagner, 43, died tragically from being struck by a drunk driver on July 31, 2005 in Amity Township, PA, after moving there from Albuquerque eight weeks ago. He is survived by his two sons, Tyler Wagner, 18, and Cory Wagner, five; father and step-mother Conrad and Sue; mother Leah Tait; brothers Scott, David and Christopher; sisters Liz and Denise; ex-wife Nancy; and many, many friends and people that loved him. Mark was born on February 16, 1962. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1980 and joined the Marine Corp. He later obtained his CDL and worked for trucking companies in New Mexico and Pennsylvania. He had most recently worked in Albuquerque for Zanios Foods. Mark married his first wife Liz and they had Tyler in 1986. He was a lead singer in a band and enjoyed it very much. Mark subsequently moved back to Pennsylvania for a few years but returned to Albuquerque in 1994 so he could be closer to Tyler. Mark and Nancy met in 1995 and were married in 1997 until January of 2005. They had a son, Cory, born in 2000. Mark had a great love for his sons and his music that he wrote and played. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, he enjoyed his 1969 GTO, and taking walks with Cory and watching Tyler participate in sports. Mark loved his two sons very much and will be watching over them the rest of their lives. Mark was very much loved and will be missed. Cremation services will be held on August 6, 2005 in Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, NM.
