ARCHUNDE -- Sostena "Tena" Archunde passed away late Tuesday evening the 14th of June 2005 in Albuquerque following a brief illness. Mrs. Archunde was born on the 3rd of September 1933 in Seboyeta, New Mexico to Samuel Salazar and Osefina Marquez Salazar. She was 71. Mrs. Archunde was a Member of Saint Vivian’s Catholic Church and had been a resident of the area since 1954. She is survived by her husband, Senovio Archunde Jr. of Albuquerque; two daughters, Kathy Maes and her husband, Jimmy of Albuquerque, Renee Archunde-Contreras and her husband, Phillip of Albuquerque; one son, Marty Archunde Sr. and his wife, Sandra of Albuquerque; three sisters; Agnes Bell of Las Vegas, Nevada, Elsie DeBaca of Los Lunas, and Betty Garcia and her husband, George of Albuquerque; two brothers; Manuel Salazar of Albuquerque and Lloyd Salazar of Albuquerque, three grandchildren, Marty Archunde Jr., Crystal Turrietta and her husband, Adam, and Matthew Archunde. all of Albuquerque; two great-grandchildren ; Isiah Turietta and Adrian Turrietta of Albuquerque also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; Samuel Salazar and Osefina Marquez Salazar; four of her sisters, Erminia Padilla, Josephine Dunworth, Dometilia Rhinethart, and Fidel Salazar. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Grants Mortuary Chapel, Rosary will be 7:00 p.m.. Sunday at Saint Teresa de Avila Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday the 20th of June 2005 at Saint Teresa de Avila Catholic Church in Grants with Father Alberto Avella officiating. Graveside Services and Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Clint Archunde, Gene Archunde, Marty Archunde Jr., Matthew Archunde, Lloyd Salazar and Johnny Dunworth. Honarary Pallbearers include Adrian Turrietta, Isiah Turrietta, and Phillip Contreras Jr. Grants Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

CORDOVA -- Mabel Cordova, age 101, and a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Sophia Maestas; her husband Jose Cordova; sons, Frank Cordova and Armando Cordova; daughter, Margarita Cordova; sister, Frances Atencio; brothers, Uvaldo Maestas and Felix Maestas. Mabel was born December 21, 1903 in Chili, NM, she married Jose Cordova on April 28, 1934. Mabel is survived by her sons, Uvaldo Cordova her caregiver for the last seven years, Lucas Cordova and wife Berlin of Tierra Azul, NM; daughters, Corine Lange and husband K.O. of Rio Rancho, NM, Gloria De Arment and husband Paul of Greenville, PA, Alicia Pedroncelli and husband Robert of Albuquerque NM; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Mariano Maestas and wife Estella of Chili, NM; sisters, Clora Archuleta and husband Juan of Chamita, NM; sisters, M. GALLEGOS -- Joseph Gallegos, 72 of Big Spring died Monday, June 13, 2005, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Prayer Service was at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Myers & Smith Chapel with Carlos Payen officiating. A Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. The Funeral Service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM, followed by burial. He was born December 13, 1932 in Gallup, NM to Lucy and Henry Gallegos. He served in the U.S. Navy, the Navy Reserve, and was a Quality Assurance Officer for the Department of Defense for over 32 years. During that time, he served in Japan, Spain, Columbia, Mexico, Los Alamos, NM, and Kansas City, MO. He had been a resident of Big Spring since 1989 coming from Lubbock, TX. Mr. Gallegos had been employed by Howard College. He was a Catholic and a member if the American Legion and The Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Gallegos married Gloria Sylvia Cervantes, August 1, 1997, in El Paso. He is survived by his wife: Gloria Silvia Gallegos of Big Spring; three sons: Ben Gallegos, Lenny Gallegos, and Rafael Gallegos, all of Albuquerque; two daughters: Jennifer Lucero and husband Ray, and Denise Gallegos, both of Albuquerque; one step-daughter; Ruth Cervantes of Chihuahua, Mexico, 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. GUTIERREZ -- Octaviano "Tavo" Gutierrez, 87, lifelong resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2005. He was born March 13, 1918 in Las Vegas, NM to Mariano and Esther Gutierrez. He is survived by Beatrice Encinias Gutierrez, his wife of 67 years; and his daughter, Esther Pare and husband Robert Rey; grandchildren, Landre Burton, Orlando Gutierrez and wife Debra, Lita Saiz and husband Fred, Lea Willingham and husband David; 12 great-grandchildren, Daniella Gutierrez, Robin Rael, Mena Burton, Valeria, Victoria and Seth Saiz, Orlando Jr, Dedra, Orion and Demetria Gutierrez and Brooke and Alex Willingham. He was preceded in death by his sons, Dennis Gutierrez and Orlando (Landy) Gutierrez; brother, Mariano Gutierrez and parents. Tavo served in the US Navy, Hawaiian Islands for two years. He worked for the New Mexico Highway Department for 35 years and also was a volunteer fireman with E. Romero Hose and Fire and member of the American Legion and VFW. Tavo and Beatrice have been living with their daughter since April, 2003. A gathering for family and friends will be at daughter Esther and Bob's home at two p.m. June 18, 2005. HUBBARD -- Wayne Hubbard. A Memorial Service will be held for Wayne Hubbard at the First United Methodist Church, 1800 Red Rock Drive, Gallup, NM at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2005. Scattering of the ashes will take place in the Alamitos near the Pecos Wilderness in August. Wayne Elmo Hubbard, 84, lost his battle with throat cancer on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. He was born on September 6, 1920 in Thatcher, AZ, the third of nine children to Rollin and Jennie Hubbard. While Wayne was a young child, the family moved to Gila, NM. Father and sons worked as hunter guides, blacksmiths, miners, manual laborers and cowboys. Wayne often worked for the US Forest Service, building trails and fighting fire in the Gila Wilderness, camping for weeks or months at a time. He developed skills in this environment which shaped the rest of his life. He worked with horses most of his early life. Horses, camping and fishing were Wayne's life long loves. After Wayne graduated from Cliff High School in 1938, he moved to Morenci, AZ, to work as a blacksmith in the copper smelter. Six months to the minute after Pearl Harbor, Wayne was sworn into the US Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater and took part in several beach landings. He advanced to the rank of Boatswains Mate First Class and served until 1946. After an Honorable Discharge, Wayne attended New Mexico State University under the G.I. Bill majoring in aviation mechanics and working as a truck driver and mechanic to support himself. Here he met and married Jeannette Spless. Wayne was recalled into the navy when their first child, Lina was four months old. He served in Korea for a year before returning home and completing college. He and Jeannette had two more children, Marian and Benjamin. He completed a B.A. in industrial arts and education and M.A. in educational administration. Wayne served youth, his communities and state of New Mexico for 29 years. He was a teacher and principal at New Mexico Boys' School in Springer. He was counselor, assistant principal and principal of Gallup High School retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Elks club. Wayne is survived by his wife, Jeannette; a daughter, Marian Hubbard; a granddaughter, Katherine Gould; a grandson, Jared DeMarais; sister, Fern Utton; five brothers, Hugh, Owen, Harold, Grant and Gary and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Marion; a sister, Ruth Hulsey; a daughter, Lina Gould Heacock; and son, Benjamin. Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Building Fund or a charity of your choice. The family's heartfelt thanks goes to Hospice. JAQUEZ -- Juan Andres Jaquez Jr., 23, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005 near Lemitar, NM. He was born October 14, 1981 to Juan and Irma L. (Orta) Jaquez in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Felipa Jaquez Herrera. He is survived by his wife, Alma Delia (Ramirez) Jaquez of their home in Lemitar; his son, Andres Manuel Jaquez of Lemitar; his parents: Juan and Irma Jaquez of Lemitar; brothers: Aaron Jaquez of Phoenix, AZ and Gustavo Jaquez of Socorro, NM; grandparents: Jose Orta, Rosalia Dominquez and Juan Jaquez Rosales, all of Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico; and other family and many friends. NEILSON -- Helen B. Neilson, 77, passed away on June 12, 2005 in Houston, TX. She was born March 14, 1928 in Pleasant Grove, UT and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Watson Neilson. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, and artist. She enjoyed being a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years. O'NEAL -- James (Chet) O'Neal, 83, a resident of the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico, passed away Monday, June 13, 2005 peacefully in his sleep. He was born February 15, 1922 in Chanute, KS. Mr. O'Neal is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thelma O'Neal of the family home; daughter, Pat Cosima Leedom and husband, Jan Studebaker, all of Jemez; grandsons, Sam Kanner and wife, Kayla and Zach Kanner; brother, Carl C. O'Neal of Bellview, NE; many loved nieces and nephews; and special friends. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 26 years, and then maintained his interests in working in his shop and being outdoors. Mr. O'Neal will always be loved. PRINGLE -- Lt. Colonel Homer George Pringle, Jr. was born Tuesday, October 21, 1930 in Mobile, AL to Homer George, Sr. and Helen Pringle. He joined his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 14, 2005. George was surrounded by the family that he loved so dearly upon his passing. George is survived by his most loving and devoted wife, Julienne Pringle. He is also survived by his children; son, John Pringle and wife, Charlene of California, daughter, Patricia Whitacre of Albuquerque, daughter, Barbara Cormier and husband, Chuck of Albuquerque and son, Scott Pringle and wife, Carrie of California; grandchildren, Jason and Candice Pringle of California, Chelsey and Vivian Sisneros, Hal, Alicia, and Caitlin Whitacre and Zachary, Tyler, and Matthew Cormier all of Albuquerque. George was a resident of Albuquerque since 1970. He was able to understand the importance of family and was rewarded by the closeness and love that surrounded him. George graduated from the Annapolis in 1953 and had a very successful military career in the United States Air Force. He was stationed as a young Lieutenant in French Morocco where he met his soul mate and partner in life, Julienne. They were married for 50 years. George can be remembered for his exceptional intelligence, devotion to family and incredible spirit. Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 16, 2005, 7:00 p.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette with Deacon Al McLane reciting. SAVAGE -- Von Savage, loving wife and mother, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in Albuquerque. She is loved and survived by three children, Tom Savage of Albuquerque, Betty Winstanley of Champaign, IL, Rox Ann Bott of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Deborah Alles, Kay Corbin, Aily Bott, Sheldon Bott, Sarah Sloan, Courtney Savage, and David Savage; great-grandchildren, Shanna Corbin, Chad Alles, and Andrea Alles. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Hugh Savage; sisters, Irene, Lorene, Imogene; and brothers, Tom Jr., James Barrett, and Joe Bob. Von shared her love of life and her giving spirit with not only her family but with everyone that she touched in her life's journey. STEGE -- Viola C. Stege, 95, died in Albuquerque on February 18, 2005. Born in Perham, Minnesota, on August 24, 1909, she came to live in New Mexico in 1947 with her husband, E. A.(Art) Stege, a pioneer in the development and testing of guided missile flight systems. After brief stays in Tularosa and La Luz, she and her family settled in Alamogordo where she was active in civic and social organizations. In 1964 she and her husband moved to Ruidoso where they established an import and retail business, Puerta del Sol, which they operated until its closing in 1989. Her final years were spent in Albuquerque where she was lovingly cared for by Care Free Assisted Living for Seniors and Presbyterian Hospice. She is survived by her sisters, Florence Womer of Edmonds, Washington, and Louise Neff of Sacramento, California; a son, John Stege of Macon, Georgia; a daughter, Conna Munos of Albuquerque; a granddaughter, Eve Landstrom; and a great-granddaughter, Kendall Landstrom. A memorial service will be held at the Columbarium, St. Jude Mission, Alamogordo, at 11 a.m., on Monday, June 20.

TABER -- Ray A. Taber, 90, passed away on June 14, 2005. He celebrated his 90th birthday on April 22, of this year. Ray was born and raised in California. He met his wife, Virginia, at Chapman University. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on the 22nd of this month. Ray was proud to have been associated with Coca Cola for 20 years and the business courses he took at Harvard under their auspices. He was very much a part of Sausalito, California from 1973 to 1988. He was the owner of a business selling electronics gear for boats, was a member of the Sausalito Yacht Club, and was an active member of Rotary. He was on the Sausalito City Council and also served as Mayor. Ray and his wife moved to Rio Rancho in 1988. He served as one of the members of the first Rio Rancho Charter Commission which established Rio Rancho as a city, rather than a town, thereby making it more independent of state government. He was proud of being a Rio Rancho Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Rio Rancho Golf Club. Ray is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Laura; and son, John. A Memorial Service will be held in September. TANNAHILL -- Betty Jane "Scottie" Tannahill, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Toni Campbell and husband, Jeff and Jan Andreas and husband, Ron. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nick, Angela, Gina and husband, Eric, Jessica, Karen, David, and Emily; one great-granddaughter, Autumn; sister, Carol Dodson; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Tannahill in 1993. Scottie was a loving wife, mother, and Nana whose family was the center of her world. Although she loved to paint, sew, and cook and had many interests and talents, it always came back to caring for people. Scottie never met a stranger and was an open and accepting person. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank Kelly's Assisted Living Services for the tender loving care that was shown to Scottie. Memorial Services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2005 at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd Chapel. WASHINGTON -- Rahman R. Ibn Washington, born on August 5, 1977 to Anthony and Patricia Barron. He's the younger of two children and he left us on June 6, 2005. He was a kind, personable man with a great sense of humor and was a hard worker. WILSON -- Harvey J. Wilson, 65, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judith Wilson; children, JoAnna Eck Fairchild and husband, Frank of Albuquerque, Larry Martin of Albuquerque, Dawn Rikoric and husband, John of Clarksville, TN, Traci Stegen and husband, Tom of Alamogordo, NM, Robyn Morris and husband, Mike of Junction City, KS and Cheryl Brady and husband, Randy of San Antonio, TX; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Hunter, Jerry "Spanky", Mikki, Kimberly, Rami, Maggie, Brian, Tiffany, Brandy, Ben, Kiel, and Bekkah; 11 great-grandchildren, Lessee, Tyler Joe, Johnny, Madyson, Anthony, Jerzy, Christopher, Emma, Kaylah, Garrett, and Nate; sisters, Pattie Easterday and Daphna Fuller, both of Amarillo, TX and their families; nephew, Wayne Wilson and wife, Maxine of Albuquerque; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his father, Willis Eck Wilson; his mother, Josie Wilson; sister, Shirley Wilson; two brothers, Donald and Rahland Wilson; and one grandson, William Michael Morris. Harvey was born in Higgins, TX on September 2, 1939 and graduated from high school in Higgins. He joined the United States Army and proudly served for six years, including time in Vietnam. He retired from the University of New Mexico, KNME Channel 5 after 25 years of dedicated service. Harvey was a loving husband, dedicated father, the best grandfather in the whole world, and a friend to many, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. WLADIKA -- Marie Maxine (Horton) Wladika died Monday evening, June 13, 2005 at a local hospice. She was born April 8, 1925 in Texas and was raised in Clovis, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Lillie Horton, and her husband, George James Wladika in 1989. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Lance of Carlsband, NM; her daughter, Susan (Mrs Herbert) Wilkins of Carlock, IL; her son, Mark J Wladika of San Francisco, CA; her grandchildren, Shannon J. Glynn and wife Catherine of Phoenix, AZ and Lorna E. (Mrs. Michael) Bumpous of So. Wilmington, IL; her great-grandchildren, Jillian, Cassidy, Raferty, Reilly, Sierra, and Ryker Glynn of Phoenix, AZ; and many loving extended family members, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many dear and loving friends with whose love and support she has enjoyed her life. She was a former teletype operator at KAFB and employee of APS cafeterias. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary and an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She volunteered many hours for her church, the VA hospital and the Animal Humane Association. Family requests no flowers.
