ALEXANDER -- Jessie Mae Messick Alexander, 90, a Colfax County Pioneer and Educator, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Colfax General Long Term Care in Springer, NM. She is survived by her sons, Raymond L. "Lin" Alexander and wife, Sharon, of Cochiti Lake and P. Robert "Bob" Alexander and wife Carol of Santa Fe; grandsons, Robert Kaleo Alexander, Ben Alexander, and Adam Alexander; granddaughter, Noelle Alexander; sisters, Fern Randall and husband, Gregg, of Las Cruces, NM, Nita Rosso of Santa Cruz, CA; brothers, E.P. Messick and wife, Betty, of Dexter, NM, Norman Messick and wife, Pearl, of Commerce, TX., Harlan Messick and wife Gaylia, of Boerne, TX; aunts, Vergie Jackson of Hobbs, NM and Geneva Langford of Wellington, TX; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Jessie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse P. Messick and Elsie Langford Messick and her brother-in-law, Dino Rosso. She was born on December 11, 1914 in Wellington, TX and moved to New Mexico in a covered wagon when she was just one year old. Jessie Mae was raised on a ranch near Abbott, NM and graduated from Newton High School. She attended Texas Tech University where she obtained a B.A. in History, in 1938. Jessie Mae later obtained a Masters in Education, in 1951, from Highlands University. She served in the WAC during World War II. Mrs. Alexander taught school at Cottonwood School near Wellington, TX and in several Colfax County Schools including Johnson Mesa, and a one room school in Abbott and Raton. She was elected to the office of Colfax County Superintendent of Schools for the final term of office in 1955. Mrs. Alexander then taught school in Albuquerque for 24 years primarily at Kirtland Elementary. She was a long time member and active in many activities at Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, as well as Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Alexander lived several years at Ponce de Leon Retirement Center in Santa Fe and most recently at the Colfax General Long Term Care Facility in Springer. Services will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE, Saturday, May 21, 2005, 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Springer Cemetery in Springer, NM. ANDERSON -- Janet B. Anderson, 75, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1974, passed away May 15, 2005. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and friend, she will be missed by all. Born October 14, 1929 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, her adventurous spirit brought her all the way to New Mexico by way of Canada, and upstate New York. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, bowling, going to Santa Ana Casino and taking trips to Laughlin, Nevada. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dinah (Buchanan) Livingstone and her sister, Susan and brother-in-law, Bob Birrell. She was also preceded in death by Raymond Patenaude in 1969. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Richard M. Anderson. Also surviving are her daughters, Diane (Mike) Wilkins their children, Amanda and Michael; Deborah Moreno and her children, Monica and Yvonne; Janice (Alexander) Forte, their children, Alicia (Fran) and her first great-grandson, Alexandre Francis, Brooke (Jorge); Mary Lynne (Rob) Graham: and Diane Anderson and her children, Chad, David, Angi, Kris, Sara, Chel, Juli; her sister, Christina (Jimmy) Jarvie; and brothers, Dennis (Mary) Livingstone and Robert Livingstone; plus many loving nieces and nephews and their families. ARIZPE-PADILLA -- Cecilia Arizpe-Padilla, 77, peacefully passed away on May 10, 2005. Cecilia was born in Albuquerque on November 22, 1927. She is survived by her four children, Dr. Ray Padilla and his wife Margaret from Manhattan Beach, CA, Diane Valdez from Albuquerque, Marlene Nakamura and husband Steve from Corrales, and Terri Archuleta and husband Dave from Colorado Springs, CO. Cecilia will be truly missed by her ten grandchildren, Jared and Jennifer Padilla, Monique Valdez, Marlene Valdez and fiancee Jason Vance, Rachel, Nicole, and Stevie Ray Nakamura, Marissa Montano and husband Carlos, Tennae and Seth Archuleta. She also had four great-grandchildren, Miguel, Jaziah, Jacob, and Briariana. Cecilia was a former Miss Albuquerque and 1st runner-up to the Miss NM pagent in 1946. Cecilia was also owner of the famous Fito's Cafe and Restaurant now known as the Barelas Coffee Shop. BACA -- Dean (Dino) M. Baca, 39, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 16, 2005 as a result of an accident. Dino is survived by his beloved parents, Lee and Becky Baca; his sister, Stacy Marquez and husband, Andy; two brothers, Clifford Baca and wife, Carol, and K. C. Baca and wife, Donna; his grandmother, Mrs. Lydia Baca; his nieces and nephews, Jessica and husband, Mark, Kennedy, Kassandra, Nikki, Vanessa, Rachel, Celina, Natalie, Dominic, Matthew, Isabella, Zackary and Frankie; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Dino was a member of the Catholic Church, an avid motorcyclist, avid Cowboy fan and he loved all sports. Dino was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for the past 20 years and was a graduate of West Mesa High School, Class of 1983. BARNARD -- Cora Willie Barnard, 91, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, born in Estancia Valley, died in Boise, Idaho on May 13, 2005. She is survived by her children, William H. Wright of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Edward Charles Wright of Gallup, New Mexico, Kenneth Barnard, and his wife Paula of Lowman, Idaho, Gene Barnard, and wife Peggy of Los Lunas, New Mexico, and Ruby Silva, and husband Abran of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her brothers Robert Willie, Richard Willie, and Billy Max Willie; sisters Margie Mitchell, Luella Willie, Laura Downey, Bernice Maloch, and Betty Martin. She also had numerous grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of thirty years Ruben S. Barnard; daughter Ruth Duggan; first husband, Benjamin Wright, as well as by three brothers, and two sisters. Ms. Barnard was a foster grandparent at Ernie Pyle Middle School, and was chosen as the only foster grandparent from New Mexico to go to Washington D.C. to meet first lady Nancy Reagan. CLARK -- Patrick Henry Clark, age 88 and a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died at his home on Tuesday, May 17, 2005. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estifinita Clark and sister, Criselda Woods. He is survived by his sister, Mary Holloman of Denver, CO; two stepdaughters, Isabel Dominguez and Teresa Estrada; son-in-law, Ildefonso Dominguez; ten grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. DIXON -- David B. Dixon, 55, beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother, PaPaw, Teacher, Fisherman, and Friend died, Monday, May 16, 2005 after a brief illness. ELY -- Doris J. Ely passed away on May 17, 2005. Doris was born in Santa Fe on January 15, 1924 to Hilario and Josephine Fisher, and was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. She worked at BCMC and St. Joseph's Hospital for many years as a social services adviser. She is preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1991. She left many dear friends and will be remembered with fondness by all. GALLEGOS -- Chloe Faith (Dill), 31, died suddenly in a tragic automobile accident near Holbrook, AZ, on Friday, May 13, 2005. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Magdalena Rose, and her devoted mother, Sharon Leigh O'Connor. Chloe was preceded in death by her father, John Wren. GORSLINE -- John Matthew Gorsline, age 41, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday May 15, 2005. John was born on March 24, 1964 in Albuquerque to Don Lee and Marilyn Alice Gorsline. He is survived by his three brothers, James Gorsline, Peter Gorsline and wife, Kay, Thomas Gorsline and wife, Deborah; one sister, Leslie Zobel and husband, Scott; three nieces, Karyn, Andrea and Lauren Gorsline; two nephews Ryan Gorsline and Paul Gorsline and wife, Feydra, who will be adding the newest member to our loving family. Also survived by those special friends from KKOB, Meals on Wheels, and every theatre group he enjoyed participating in. He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Robert Paul Gorsline. John worked for KKOB for 12 years and Meals on Wheels. He was very passionate about Albuquerque Little Theatre, Vortex Theatre, American Shakespeare Project, and Musical Theatre of the Southwest as the stage manager for a production in June. GREEN -- Polly Green, age 82, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on May 18, 2005. Polly and her husband, Elton were married February 14, 1937. Polly and Elton farmed and ranched north of Clovis, NM. Her hobbies included gardening, and she was known for her beautiful array of red geraniums in her front yard. Polly was an avid golfer; she enjoyed the horse races and the company of her many friends. She and Elton enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe. Of all the things in her life her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Polly enjoyed a full long life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Green of Clovis; one daughter, Kay Green; and two infant sons. Polly is survived by her daughter, Jan Gentry of Belen; four granddaughters, Jamie Provencio of Grady, NM, Kelli Page of Belen, Joei Williams of Belen, and Lezli Williams of Albuquerque; and six great-grandchildren. Leticia was born October 27, 1930 in Santa Fe, the loving daughter of Matias and Dolores Portillo. She married Augustin Lucero in Santa Fe who preceded her in death. Leticia retired as a nurse (LPN )from St. Vincent Hospital with 22 years of service. She was also a member of La Sagrada Familia. MC CRARY -- Rosanna Marie Mc Crary our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on May 11, 2005 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 43. Rosanna was born on June 16, 1961 to Nick and Millie Gonzales. PEREZ -- Irene Perez, age 75, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, died May 15, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her four children; Michael Izquierdo, of El Paso, TX and his wife Christine; Rose Izquierdo-Duffman, of Bristow, VA; J. David Crowle, of Los Angeles, CA and his wife, Marla Jones and Doretta Cook, of San Antonio, TX. She also leaves behind a sister, Reyna Doner, age 82, who resides in Corpus Christi, TX. Irene was proudest of her grandchildren, Scott Duffman and his wife, Mary, Wendy Duffman; April Rodriguez and her husband Gabriel, Stephanie Cook, Miguel Izquierdo, and Emma Izquierdo. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Irene settled in Albuquerque, NM in 1991, after living in El Paso, TX; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; and Las Vegas, NV. Once she moved to Albuquerque, she got busy with the local AARP Chapter and local Seniors Centers. She taught a Senior Driving Safety course, volunteered for HOSPICE for several years and was active in her church and local political campaigns. She was an avid reader; however, her greatest love was volunteering to help any person or group in need. The family would like to send their thanks to all her friends and family for their support and prayers in these difficult times. ROSS -- Amy Kathryn (Kit) Ross, 85, born November 17, 1919 in Everett, WA, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughters, Amy McGhie Ross of Albuquerque, Gretchen Ross Odum and husband Marvin of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Debbie Odum Hutchinson and her husband Joe, Marvin Odum III and his wife Loli, Brian Odum and his wife Suzanne, Marcus Odum and his wife Michelle; and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Marvin IV, Taylor, Alexandra, Hayes, Madison, and Morgan. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Alexandria Triesch of Long Beach, CA; brothers-in-law, Lamar Ross and his wife Irma, and Bill Ross and his wife Joy; sister-in-law, Helen Stuckey; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Clay Morris; her grandmother Amy Kathryn McGhie; her brothers, Frederic Norval Keay, and William West Keay; and sister-in-law, Mairee Staggs of Beebe, AR. Kathryn was the oldest of four children who were brought up by their beloved grandmother, Amy McGhie Keay. After graduation, while working in Everett, she met and married Clay M. Ross of Monticello, AR in 1944. At the end of WWII and Clay's service in the Navy, he and Kathryn lived in various locations as Clay served in positions with Sears, Roebuck and Company. Clay always said, "Behind every successful man is an equally successful woman." Kit was the ultimate corporate wife, supporting her husband in every way. From early childhood, Kathryn was an active and dedicated member of several Presbyterian churches. She was an ordained Deacon, a member of various church circles, and worked in visitation programs. Kathryn was an avid golfer and for years enjoyed her membership in the Albuquerque Country Club and its Nine Hole Women's Golf Association. She was also a member of PEO, Chapter AA, serving a term as President. Kathryn was an enthusiastic gardener as well as the caretaker for forty adored turtles. One of her greatest pleasures was her beloved mah-jongg group. Services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, 87102. ZAMORA -- Jose I. (Nash) Zamora, age 85, a lifelong resident of Bernalillo, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005, following an illness. He is survived by two sisters, Rufina Zamora of Bernalillo, NM and Lucy Montoya of Las Cruces, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4243, a lifelong member of the Sandoval County Sheriff Posse, and a lifelong fan of the Bernalillo High School Basketball.
