AREHART -- Edwin Raynard Arehart , 98, died Friday, February 4, 2005. Raynard lived a full life, serving in the North Brazil Presbyterian Mission for 30 years. He was the pastor of Menlo Presbyterian Church in Menlo, Georgia for five years. He was the visitation pastor at the First Presbyterian Church as well as a part-time Chaplin at the Veteran Administration hospital. He is survived by his daughter, Clara Olivas of Albuquerque; two sons, Richard Arehart of Albuquerque and Robert Arehart of Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday February 7, 2005 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that Memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church Foundation, 215 Locust NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. ARMIJO -- Marcella A. Armijo, 50, joined our Lord and Savior on Friday, February 4, 2005. She was born September 28, 1954 to Zeke and Soila (Apodaca) Armijo in Las Vegas, NM. Marcy resided in Socorro for most of her life and for the past few years resided at the Espanola Valley Nursing Center where she received kind and loving care. Marcy is preceded in death by her baby brother, John Phillip. She is survived by her parents, Zeke and Soila of Socorro; brothers, Daniel and Jerry and his wife, Lillian; niece, Madalyn; and nephews, John and Joseph, all of Socorro. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro with Funeral Mass being celebrated immediately following with Father John C. Daniel as Celebrant. Inurnment will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Marcy joined us as an angel, served as an inspiration to the many lives she touched and will always serve as an angel. BOUGHTON -- Judy Boughton, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and co-worker, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at age 61 after a short illness. Judy was born on Sunday, June 27, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN and lived around the world, including Dowagiac, MI; at Michigan State University; New Orleans; the U.S. Island Territory of Guam; and most recently, Albuquerque, NM. She was employed by the Albuquerque Public School System as an occupational therapist serving in the Valley High School Cluster. Judy loved her profession and helped many students throughout her career. Judy was a gentle, kind and quietly wise lady who loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed life to the fullest, particularly traveling, lace-making, cats, shopping, fine dining, dark chocolate, Earl Grey tea, and taking long baths in front of the fireplace with a good romance or mystery novel. Judy was equally loved in return and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, George; her son, Eric, of Seattle; her daughter, Kristina "Nina," of Washington, DC; her mother, Julie Lund, of Dowagiac, MI; her brother, Ken Lund, of Hong Kong; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lene and Bill and Steve and Cathy of Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families; two beloved pets, Cali and China; and many, many friends. Her father, Trig, preceded her in death on December 17, 2004. A memorial service for Judy will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. BOWLES -- Frances Mary Bowles, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the tender age of 99. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Parks; grandson, Charles Allen Malm; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Malm and Carin Malm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Bowles in 1960. Mrs. Bowles was born in DeKalb, IL. She attended nurses training and became an RN graduating from Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. She continued her nursing career in Denver, CO, Kansas City, MO, and Tulsa, OK. After retirement, she moved with her daughter and family to Albuquerque in 1973. Her love of travel allowed her to visit the Far East and Europe. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Bowles will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her so dearly. A rosary will be recited Monday, February 7, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. CAKLINS -- Carl Ralph Calkins 1929-2005 Carl Ralph Calkins went to be with the lord suddenly on February 1, 2005. He fought a long and brave battle with cancer for the past 10 years. He was born in Clovis, NM and moved to Belen with his family when he when he was young. He was preceded in death by his twin, Frank Russell and his parents, Neil and Erna Calkins. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn and his three children, David and fiance, Yuliya, Ralph and his wife, Laurie, and Donna as well as his four siblings, Neal and wife, Alma, Marilynn Sue and husband, Bruce Lovett, Jerry and wife, Jackie, Richard and wife;his Uncle Fred and wife, Elsie Rupprecht, his sister-in-law, Maralyn and husband, Wendal Nelson; cousin, Ernst Wolfe and wife and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at the St Philip's Episcopal Church, 113 La Luna Place, Rio Communities in Belen on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. for the Masonic service and 2:00 p.m. for the regular service. CAVANAUGH -- Thomas J. Cavanaugh, Colonel, USAF (RET), 80, a resident of Albuquerque, was called home to the Lord on February 3, 2005. Although his family and friends will miss him, we are truly blessed to have had him touch our lives. Col. Cavanaugh was born in Chicago, Ill. on July 3, 1924, to Thomas and Nora Cavanaugh. After graduating from high school in 1943, he began a 32-year career serving his country in the United States Air Force. A proud veteran, Col. Cavanaugh served in WW II, Korea, and Vietnam. He is one of many who answered the call of his nation, and our gratitude is deeply heartfelt. Col. Cavanaugh is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan; his adoring brother, John; his four beautiful daughters, Maureen, Candace, Shannan, and Meaghan; and his three wonderful grandchildren, Courtenay, Sean, and Gavin. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. A true Irishman, a lover of trains, and a classic gentleman, he made our lives brighter, and we look forward to the time when we are all together again. DUNCAN -- Wendell Redmond, (March 12, 1916 - February 2, 2005). Wendell died February 2nd in Albuquerque following surgery. Wendell and his family lived many years in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, and for the last eight years he and his wife lived in Albuquerque with his daughter, Linda and her family. Wendell was proud of his service in the U.S. Army VII Corps Artillery Battery in World War II and was one of the last survivors of his unit. He served in the protective force at Los Alamos for 36 years until his retirement in 1983. Wendell delighted in the company of Lois, his lifelong friend and wife of 62 years, and in his five children and their families. He was a kind and compassionate man and although his death fills us with sadness, the memories of our many family adventures over the years will continue to assure his presence in our lives. Wendell was preceded in death by his father, William R. Duncan, and his mother, Virginia Hensen Duncan. He is survived by his sons and daughters, Layne and Janice St. John, Carolyn Duncan, Gerald Duncan, Joe and Linda Walters, and Ken and Beverly Duncan. Wendell is also survived by his well-loved grandchildren, Stryder and Lyric St. John, Quinn Duncan, Zachary and Luke Aikey, Justin and Jeremy Heinz, Tyler and Megan Duncan, and by his great-grandchildren, Andrew Ortiz and Shayden St. John. Wendell also will be missed by a large group of recently-acquired friends in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he and Lois visited for the last few summers. According to his wishes, he will be cremated and his remains placed in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe following a private memorial service.

ENGELKE -- Carl F. Engelke (Lt. Col. USAF Ret.) age 81, and a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years died Thursday, February 3, 2005 following an illness. He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. GISH -- Nancy Kay Louder Gish, 61, a resident of Albuquerque, NM for 40 years, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2005 after a long illness. Nancy was born in Alamogordo, NM, on September 13, 1943, the 4th generation of a pioneer family in Otero County. Nancy was a graduate of Alamogordo High School and attended UNM. She had a long professional career as an executive secretary working in Denver with Great Western United, in Los Angeles for Tosco. After returning to New Mexico she was employed in the Banking community for many years, and later at Albuquerque Academy. In addition to her work responsibilities, Nancy was a devoted mother. She cherished longstanding friendships with neighbors, business associates, childhood and church friends, and longtime friends in her weekly Bible study. Her Christian faith sustained her through her long and difficult illness, her many loving family members were also a source of support. Nancy has a very special place in our hearts, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks are given to the staff at the Cottages, Dr. Ortega, and Zia Hospice for their loving care. Services will be Saturday, February 5, at 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho, officiating. HERRERA -- Jose (Andy) Herrera, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on February 3, 2005. Jose (Andy) was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. MCBRIDE -- Viola Provencher, 84, resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away peacefully in her sleep and was welcomed into heaven. She was born in San Rafael, NM and grew up in Gallup, NM. She graduated from Regina school of Nursing in 1942 and worked for ATSF railroad hospital in Albuquerque for 30 years. Her life was one of love and dedication to her family, friends and patients. She traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico and Costa Rica, she enjoyed adventure. She is survived by her four children, Glen McBride, Eileen and husband, Trey, Michael and wife, Sandy, Elma and husband, Patrick; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Jason, Daniel, Melanie, Marcie, Lee, Mark and James; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was a friend to all who knew her and she was loved by all. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 6, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. MILLER -- Rex D. Miller made his journey home on January 30, 2005. He was able to pass peacefully at home in the care of Presbyterian Hospice. He is survived by his wife of fifty plus years, Joan Lee Miller of Albuquerque; his daughters, Jocelyn Cayard of Rio Rancho and Jennifer Mather of Olathe, Kansas were also by his side. Rex has four beautiful grandchildren to carry on his legacy: James King, Jeremey King, Jessica Mather and Justin Mather. Also surviving are Rex's siblings, Gerald Miller of Bloomfield, IA and Penny Miller of Cedar Rapids, IA. After retiring to Albuquerque, Rex and Joan were avid antique dealers and collectors. Rex will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his love of the teaching profession and his travels through Europe. Private services for the family have been held. MORAN -- Charles E. Col. (Ret.) USAF, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died on his birthday, January 23, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne Richards Moran; sons, Richard Michael Moran of Albuquerque and Dr. Stephen Charles and wife, Kandice Moran of Roswell; granddaughter, Holly Ann Moran of McKinney, TX and grandson, Lukas Charles Moran of Roswell; brother, Frank (Bud) and wife, Jeanette Moran of MT, brother, Robert Moran of PA & FL, brother, Martin and wife, Nancy Moran of MA; sister, Sue Moran of CA, and sisters, Colette Dispenza and Dorothy Dalrymple both of OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Collette Moran, sisters, Betty Lou Westin, Peggy Logan and Sally Moran. Charles (Chuck) graduated from high school in Warren, Ohio in the top ten percent of his class, and then attended Ohio State University. In 1941 he was accepted at West Point and graduated in 1945 with a degree in Military Science and Engineering. He attended Graduate School of Engineering at University of Arizona, Tucson. Before retiring from the USAF in 1975, Charles was an instructor pilot for SAC in Columbus, OH, and served in Foreign Technology and later worked in Research and Development at Kirtland AFB. As a 30-year veteran, he served in WWII, the European Theater, Korea and Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, the Medal of Merit and the Legion of Merit. Chuck was on the Kirtland Credit Union Board for 28 years. After retirement, he became a stockbroker. Chuck loved dancing and tennis. He also liked the outdoors, camping and boating. He was a member of the Tanoan Tennis Club and went on the Senior Player tours of the USTA. Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, Claremont and Vermont Streets, on March 18, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. and burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors. MURRAY -- Kathleen Ann "Kay" Murray, 61, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend went home to the Lord on Monday, January 31, 2005 after a long struggle with lung disease. Kay is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Bill; children, Brenda Kay Akin and husband, Steve, Sean Murray, Cristie Murray, Melanie Murray, Kimberly Murray, Lance Murray, and Casey Murray, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kyle and Kelley Murray, Stephen and Kaylin Ann Akin, John, Mason, and Jake Murray, Dillon, Donovan Murray, and Kristopher Rayner Jr.; brothers, Ricky Price of Albuquerque and Kevin Helmick of Belen; friend and caretaker, Leni Logan; and many other loved ones and friends. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother, Josephine Price and her son, Randy Murray. Kay's occupation in life was being the "World's Greatest Mom." She was involved in all of her children's activities throughout her life. NEELEY -- Della Hart Neeley, 85, resident of Albuquerque since 2001, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2005. Born to Arthur Leland Hart and Pearl Geneva Hart on May 28, 1919 in Hiwasse, Arkansas, she married Floyd Neeley, to be her husband of over 50 years, with whom she lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Della is survived by two daughters, Priscilla Neeley of Westbury, New York, Diane Lowe and husband, Patrick Lowe; and grandsons, Ian and Ryan Lowe of Albuquerque; as well as two sisters, Lilian Malone of El Paso, Texas, Miriam Hardister and husband, W.A. Hardister of Rogers, Arkansas. She also leaves behind 21 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Viewing will be held Sunday, February 4, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home, 1001 N. Canal Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico. PARKER -- Florence Fisher Parker died on February 5, 2005, in her home. She was 64 years old. Flo was born in Houston, TX on July 31, 1940. The most important thing in Flo's life was her family, her husband, Senior United States District Judge James A. Parker; daughter Pamela Jones and husband, Dave of Broomfield, CO; and son, Roger Parker and wife, Dee Dee of Cherry Hills, CO. Of special joy were her grandchildren, Wesley Parker Jones - ten, Kelsey Michelle Jones - nine, Melinda Grace Jones - seven, James Anthony Parker - seven, Sarah Elizabeth Rene Parker - six, Emily Catherine Parker - four, and Daniel Joseph Parker - two. Her parents were Mildred Ogg and Peter William Fisher. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce Fisher and wife, Carol of Houston, TX; sister, Alice Fisher Smith of Bryan, TX; sister-in-law, Beverly Parker Weaver, of New York City, NY; nieces, Lisa Cunningham, Ashley Smith, Jonelle Furmark; and nephew, Bruce Fisher, Jr. Flo's friends throughout the community and the U.S. enriched her life immeasurably. She was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love during her prolonged illness. When asked, "What do you do?" Flo's first answer was that she was a wife, mom, and homemaker and that her second career was being a volunteer. She was involved in many community activities and loved her service with others. She had a long association with the Junior League of Albuquerque and served on many committees and as President in 1978-79. The first volunteer group she ever joined was the New Mexico Symphony Guild in 1967. That began a very long association with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. After being the chairperson of many committees, including Young People's Concerts, Senorita Activities, Long Range Planning, Nomination, and the Symphony Ball Auction, she served as President of the Symphony Guild. She was a member of the Board of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra for many years, serving as President Elect and on the Executive Committee. In 1991, because of her long involvement with the New Mexico Symphony, she was appointed to the Volunteer Council of the American Symphony Orchestra League (ASOL) and served as the ASOL National Conference Chairperson and President of the Council and as a director on the Board of the ASOL. Her greatest enjoyment was making close friendships with other council members from throughout the country. Flo served on many community boards including the Albuquerque Museum Foundation Board, the Albuquerque Youth Commission, Friends of the Albuquerque Public Library, Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary and Foundation Board, Albuquerque Goals Committee, March of Dimes, Music of Albuquerque Festival, and the Ronald McDonald House Board. For a number of years, Flo was a professional model and worked part-time coordinating style shows and as a fashion consultant. She loved to travel and she visited numerous places around the United States and the world. Flo also loved entertaining and hosted many parties in her beautiful home. Flo was also very active in sports and exercise. She walked daily, played tennis, and lifted weights. Flo attended Rice University where, at the age of 18, she met her husband of 44 years, Judge Jim Parker. They were married in 1960. Flo then moved to Austin where Jim was attending law school, and she graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in languages. Flo and Jim moved to Albuquerque in 1962. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2005, 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW. PRATT -- Dorothy L. Pratt, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997, died peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2005. She was born on August 11, 1916 in Redondo Beach, Ca. She married her husband Orville in Los Angeles where they had four children. Orville transferred to Albuquerque as city passenger agent with the Santa Fe Railroad in 1953. Dorothy was secretary to Lena Clauve, Dean of Women at UNM, before they moved to Phoenix in 1963. She worked as secretary for the Home Economics Dept. at Arizona State University until her retirement. She and Orville were married for 60 years until his death in 1998. They had enjoyed many years traveling together, soaking up Arizona sun, and socializing with a wide circle of friends. Dorothy was an avid reader all of her life and was devoted to the education of her children. She and Orville worked hard and managed to realize their dream that all of their children would gain college degrees. She is survived by her brother, Glenn Stock of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and her son, Orville Pratt, Jr. and wife, Judy of Albuquerque and their two daughters, Emily Pratt and Heather Pratt-Chavez and husband, Benjamin S. Chavez and Dorothy's great grandson, Benjamin F. Chavez; her son, Gary Pratt and his wife, Marti of Miami and their son, Bryan and daughter, Jenna; her daughter, Nancy Pratt of Albuquerque; and her son, Phillip Pratt and his wife, India and their sons, Ethan, Michael, and Joshua of Amagansett, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Albuquerque Zoo. A memorial service will be held in Torrance, CA in early March.

SANCHEZ -- Tony A. Sanchez, age 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 3, 2005, with his family at his side. He was retired from the City of Albuquerque, having worked as a draftsman for over 33 years. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served his country in the US. Army during WWII. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Virginia Sanchez; three loving children, Debra Roybal and husband, Mike and Cynthia Sanchez all of Albuquerque, and John Sanchez and wife, Kathy of Seattle, WA; two dear grandchildren, Adam Roybal and Bethanie Sanchez; one brother, Joe Sanchez and wife, Hermin of Denver, CO; three sisters, Ruth Campos, Rita Gilbert and Josephine Hernandez all of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. SKINNER -- John L. Skinner, 43, of Carlsbad. Funeral Services were held Wednesday January 5, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Carlsbad with Pastor Bob Bacon officiating. Interment followed at Carlsbad Cemetery. John L. Skinner died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at his home after a 9 month battle with bone cancer. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home took care of the arrangements. John L. Skinner was born in Albuquerque on Dec. 17, 1961, to Jack and Jane Skinner, and moved to Carlsbad at the age of 5 days. He was a 1980 graduate of Carlsbad High School who went on to graduate from New Mexico State University in 1985 with a degree in business management and a minor in economics. John joined the family business at the Mine Supply Company, working in Illinois and Albuquerque (IMSCO - Industrial & Mine Supply Co.) before moving back to Carlsbad in 1991. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, where he taught youth Sunday School and volunteered for many youth activities. John was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, hunting and sports. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and a Little League coach and manager, along with being an active Caveman Dad. Survivors include wife Frances Skinner, of the family home; son Josh Skinner, of Abilene, Texas; daughter Kimberly Skinner, of Waco, Texas; parents Jack and Jane Skinner, of Carlsbad; mother-in-law Mary Pat Jackson, of Carlsbad; brother Jake Skinner, of Albuquerque; sister Jill Rogers, of Albuquerque; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and special aunt Julie Sparks. Pallbearers were be Don Titus, Dan Thompson, Randy Bailey, Alan Fernandez, Kim Merchant, Paul Trone, Steve Kouba, Rocky West, Dirk Roberson and Craig Barrick. STUBBINGS -- Anna Marie Pedersen Stubbings passed away on January 31, 2005. Mrs. Stubbings moved here from Illinois and had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1999. She was a member of the Macomb Women's Club, the Twiddler's Club, the Rocking Chair Club, and was active in the women's group at the Wesley Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Turner and a brother, Peder Pedersen. VAN WHY -- Raymond Van Why, age 69, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2005. Born in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, June 10, 1935, he came to New Mexico, White Sands Missile Range, during his Army service in 1955 and remained here with his life long love and wife Rebecca Rivera Van Why, until his death. WYLIE -- Virginia "Gina" Wylie, 89, born in 1915 in Gallup, NM, died Monday January 31, 2005 in Albuquerque. She is survived by son, Claude Wylie and wife, Julie; son, Alan Wylie and wife, Marion; daughter, Nancy Banes and husband, Tom; son, Ken Wylie and wife, Barbara all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Karen Wylie, Tracey Wylie, Ginger Moore, George Wylie, Stacey Banes, Brandon Banes, Matthew Wylie, Nathan Wylie, Brent Wylie, and Ryan Wylie; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Wylie, Sr. in 1980. Mrs. Wylie was a founding member of the Four Hills Country Club. She was a member of the Women's Golf Association of the Four Hills and Albuquerque Country Club's. She will be endlessly missed as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
