BEATTY -- Marcella E. Beatty passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, January 16, 2005. She was born April 18, 1918, in Montrose, MO and grew up in Tulsa, OK. She earned an RN degree from Oklahoma University and a B.S. in Education from San Francisco College for Women, working her way through school as a surgical nurse at Children's Hospital in San Francisco, CA. She later joined the teaching faculty of Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco. While working at Children's Hospital, she met the love of her life, a young resident named Ralph R. Beatty, M. D. During the years her family lived in Kansas City, MO (1952-72), Kerrville, TX (1972-74), Salisbury, NC (1975-80), and Albuquerque, NM (1980-2005), she was actively engaged in educational and charitable work through local church, school, and neighborhood associations, as well as the American Association of University Women (AAUW). In recent years, she was a passionate supporter of the Sunbonnet Shop at First Presbyterian Church and the Martineztown House of Neighborly Service. Her unquenchable optimism, humor, and grit were an inspiration to all who were warmed by her deep caring, or lifted by her sparkle. Everyone who knew her relied upon her abiding faith and her talent for prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Beatty, M.D., and her brother, Joseph W. Palmer, both of Albuquerque. It has been a year of much heartbreak and of much pain. Your absence in our lives has been unbearable. The void you have left in our hearts and in our lives, no one else on earth could ever fill. It is said that time heals all wounds, but our hearts still ache so much for you. We all miss you so much - more than words can say... your love, your comfort, your words of wisdom and guidance, your giving heart and precious spirit. We were truly blessed to have had you, an honorable, wonderful, beautiful, loving mother. You were our little bit of heaven on earth. We cherish and bless the memories of you within our hearts. And though we can't see you or touch you, we fell your love all around us every moment of every day. We'll never forget your face, the sound of your voice, your gentle touch... they let us know we were loved. We'll never forget the stories you told, the traditions you handed down, they let us know who we are. We'll never forget the lessons you taught, the things you stood for... they are your gift to us and our legacy. STEWART -- Alexander T., Reverend "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." -Jeremiah 3:15 Alexander Rose Taylor Stewart passed away January 15, 2005 after a brief illness. Born in Glasgow, Scotland December 31, 1922 and raised in Detroit, MI, Reverend Stewart, a 32nd degree Mason with the Scottish Rite of the Bay County Consistory, a World War Two Veteran, received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. After working for the Ford Motor Company he was called to the priesthood. He was ordained at age 35, after studying at the Michigan Diocesan School of Theology. While assisting at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Midland, MI he was asked by the Bishop to begin a parish in Clarkston. Establishing the Episcopal Church of The Resurrection, he enriched the spiritual and personal lives of his parishioners and served in many community organizations. During his faithful service to the Lord, Reverend Stewart and his wife, Edith adopted four children and later were blessed with one of their own. When people reflect on Reverend Stewart's ministry, many thoughts come to mind. What is most apparent, however, is that he lived out the example set by Christ when He walked the Earth. Countless people realized Christ's example through Reverend Stewart. Their success is one of his greatest achievements. Upon Reverend Stewart's retirement in 1987, he was recognized by the Michigan State Legislature House Resolution No. 379 for his service to the community and his ministry to God's people. Reverend Stewart was preceded in death by daughter, Eileen and parents, William and Margaret. He is survived by his wife, Edith; his children, Phyllis, David, Bruce, and Joan; and seven grandchildren. In life Alex enjoyed, among other things, golf, fishing, playing the piano, and the seemingly endless game of Pinochle and Cribbage. In his passing, the Lord will enjoy him. While never a resident of New Mexico, he enjoyed his visits to the Land of Enchantment and attending services at St. John's Cathedral downtown. Well done, Alex, thy faithful servant.
