ARCHULETA -- Isidro Archuleta, age 86, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2004. He served his country in the US Army and was a Veteran of WWII. Isidro was preceded in death by his two sons, Ralph and Phillip. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bennie; daughters, Anita and her husband Ely Gonzales, Mary Fajardo, Cate Archuleta, and Doris Butler; son, Lorenzo Archuleta; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends who loved and will miss him. Services and Viewing will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 550 Atrisco Dr. NW.. The viewing will begin at 6:00pm on Monday, January 3, 2005, followed by the rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. BACHECHI -- Mary Claire Bachechi, 53, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 27, 2004. She is survived by her brothers, Patrick Bachechi and wife, Donna, and Victor Bachechi and wife Sue, all of Albuquerque; nieces, Brenda, Ann, Carla, and Kimberly, Molly, Marie, Liz, and Karrie; nephew, Charlie; aunts, Rita Curran and husband, John, Teresa Sei and husband, Amerigo, and Regina Moran and husband, Tom; uncle, John Guest and wife, Sophie; and sister-in-law, Susan Bachechi. BARTMESS -- Doyne E. Bartmess, known as "Bart", born April 27, 1919 in Annapolis, Illinois, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961 completed the journey on earth arriving at his final resting place in God's Kingdom on Friday, December 24, 2004. His wife, Marjorie M. Bartmess preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca A. Roush, and Nancy L. Williamson and husband, John; son, D. Eugene Bartmess, Jr. and wife, Connie; sister, Mary Cox, six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Mr. Bartmess graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois in December 1941. He served as an officer in the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II. He had a varied career as an electrical engineer and prior to his retirement owned 20th Century and Five Points Laundromats. A celebration of Doyne's life will be held at a later date. CASWELL -- Gloria Jean (Pacheco) Caswell, 60, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, after a brief battle with cancer. She was in the able care of the Gibson Lovelace Medical Center at the time of her death. Her passing was peaceful and without pain. With her at the time of her death were her husband, other members of her immediate family, and many friends, relatives, and coworkers. Gloria had recently completed 25 years of service with the United States Government, serving with the Department of Interiors' Indian Arts and Crafts Board and the Bureau or Indian Affairs during that period. At the time of her death she was serving as the secretary of the Division of Real Estate Services of the Bureau's Southwest Regional Office at 1001 Indian School Road, NW in Albuquerque. She was born in Winslow, AZ, into the Roadrunner/Small Corn Clan of the Laguna Tribe. After her family returned To Paguate, NM, she attended school in Grants, NM, graduating high school in 1962. She then attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, KS, graduated, and then moved to Washington, DC, where she began work with the Federal Government and met her husband, Robert Caswell. After their 1965 marriage in a Lutheran Church four blocks east of the United States Capitol Building, Gloria and her Husband, who served in the US Army as a medical technician, lived at various military installations in the US until his honorable discharge in 1967. Gloria and Robert returned to Albuquerque, where they have resided ever since. Gloria's hobbies included bowling, golfing, sewing, and cooking for her beloved and loving family. Because of her life-long love of housecats, she eventually she became universally known as "Catswell." Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Pacheco Sr. and Lean Pacheco; brother, Robert Pacheco Jr; and sister, Daisy Frazier. Surviving her are her husband; sons, Benjamin and James, all of Albuquerque; brother, Gilbert Pacheco of Casa Blanca NM; sister, Eleanor Starr of Grapevine TX; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Laguna Rainbow Elder Center Corporation /Foundation, c/o Kathy Correa, PO Box 290, Casa Blanca, NM 87007, in memory of Gloria. A wake will be held Thursday, December 30, at the family dwelling in Paguate, NM, beginning at 2:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service and burial at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 31, at the Paguate Cemetery. The family thanks all of those who touched Gloria's life, those who loved her and held her dear, and all who participated in her selfless devotion to the well-being of Native Americans and all peoples. We also thank those who participated in helping her move to a higher level, both by participation in her parting ceremonies in person and by being with her in spirit. We thank you all.

CHAVEZ -- Jerry M. Chavez (50) passed away suddenly on December 28, 2004. He is survived by his sister, Linda Sanchez, of Los Lunas; 2 brothers, Benigno Chavez Jr.and wife Diane of Albuquerque, Paul Chavez and wife Maxine of Albuquerque. He had two nephews, Dylan Chavez of Boston MA and Curtis Chavez of Albuquerque; and two nieces, Crystal Chavez of Hilo, HA and Devin Chavez of Albuquerque. He is survived by his step-daughter, Bernadette Parra. He was also survived by his girlfriend, Delia Sanchez; and his many friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Benigno and Frances Chavez of Albuquerque and by his hunting buddy, Mike Chavez. Jerry was born on September 29, 1954 in Belen, NM. He grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Del Norte High School. He had been employed at Sandia Casino as a MIS Specialist for over 5 years. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He especially enjoyed bow hunting because of the high level of skill required. Because of his skill, there must be many game animals that are sleeping easier tonight. He had many friends that shared his love for the outdoors and they will all treasure their memories of their hunting trips together. Jerry was a hardworking man of many skills and had a sharp sense of humor that will be missed. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, at 4:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral home at 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE.

CHRISMAN -- JoAnn YOU WILL BE MISSED MORE THAN YOU CAN EVER KNOW JoAnn Chrisman passed away on December 22, 2004 with her family at her side at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center. She was born in Detroit on May 18, 1943. She visited Albuquerque in 1991 where she met her lifelong partner, Al Edwards. They continued a long distance relationship for the next two years and then in 1993 she returned back to Albuquerque to begin the rest of her life here. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Papazian; brother, Steve Papazian; son, Mark Chrisman and daughter-in-law, Grace Chrisman; sons-in-law, Brian and Craig Edwards; daughters-in-law, Kim and Teresa Edwards; and also her grandchildren, Trey Chrisman and Ashleigh Edwards. She will also be missed by the many lives she touched in the Albuquerque area as well as Florida and Ohio where many more family and friends reside. Even though she is not with us in body, we know that she will always be with us in spirit. Our own heartache and pain is eased by knowing that JoAnn has been released from her suffering and is now free to be one with the Earth and sky. Cremation has occurred and a memorial celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 8 at 2 pm at the St. Francis Episcopal Church 2903 19th SE in Rio Rancho on the corner of 19th and Golf Course. EIFERT -- Dorothy M. Eifert. Memorial services are pending for Dorothy M. Eifert, 88, formerly of Norfolk, NE. She died on December 24, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM where she was living near her daughter, Marilyn Eifert. She was born on May 12, 1916 to Jesse and Beatrice Barlow in Kearney, NE. She attended school in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in May of 1934. On August 4, 1936, she married Howard Eifert in Holdrege, NE. They lived in Wausa, NE for 35 years, then lived in Kerrville, TX until 1991 when she came to Norfolk, NE. Survivors include seven sons and three daughters: William and Melba of Bauldwin, MS, Robert and Mary of Kingsland, TX, Don of Mansfield, TX, Charles and Cathy of Tullahoma, TN, James and Kathy of Ponca, NE, Eldon, and Michael of Kerrville, TX, and daughters, Betty Graziano of Horseshoe Bay, TX, Marilyn Eifert of Albuquerque, NM, and Carolyn and Doug Nolze of Stanton, NE; twenty-six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters. FLEMING -- George E. Fleming, 80, went home to Our Lord December 23, 2004 from Presbyterian Hospice after a short illness. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Gloria; children, Ronald and Suzanne; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Yvonne Taylor and husband, Everett of Sebastian, Florida. He was born June 12, 1924 in Pawtucket, RI and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 41 years as a textile/maintenance employee. Mass of celebration will be said at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005 at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel followed by private internment. FOUGHT -- Margaret H. Fought, 93, a resident of New Mexico for over 40 years, passed away, Wednesday, December 29, 2004. She was born on December 22, 1911 in Mexico to Margarito and Adelita (CarSena) Hernandez. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret M. Sarinana and husband Jose; two grandchildren, Javier and Mary Anne; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Nicolas. Margaret was a member of St. Charles of Borromeo. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America. She retired from teaching in 1976 after 35 years. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 3, 2005 at 9:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo. GARCIA -- Pete V. Garcia 69, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle passed from this earth and into our Lord's arms on December 28. Pete was born on January 27, 1935 in Albuquerque, NM. Pete was a gifted pianist and could play anything classical, rock, or boogie by ear. Pete was known for his wonderful wit and his great sense of humor. His infectious laugh was a joy to behold and will be sorely missed. Pete was a voracious reader and loved the internet. Pete is survived by his loving daughters: Peggy White (husband Joe Carrasco); Donna Morgan (husband Danny Morgan);sons Pete Garcia III (wife Kay); Gordon Garcia (wife Tania); and Tracey Scott (husband Kimbell); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his beloved sister Bette Telles (husband Richard Telles) .Services are pending.

GARCIA -- Pete V. Garcia Born January 23, 1935, passed away December 28th, 2004. Son of Pete V. Garcia Sr. & Rufina Sedillo Garcia. His smile was brighter than a ray of sunshine. His laugh was so full of energy and happiness. His walk, like "Tigger" always with a bounce. He loved books, music, professional football and Smoking a good fresh cigar. Most of all he loved his family. He leaves to mourn his wife of 39 years, Joan their three children: Pete III his wife Kay, His only daughter Tracy Lee her husband Kimble Scott, Gordon Garcia and his wife Tania. His only Grand children Matthew & Aaron Scott. Without him, our lives are empty. He loved life, he was always happy, always joking. He had many more dreams to fulfill places to go and things to do. Pete was retired from Greyhound Bus Lines, one of his dreams that he accomplished, To be a Greyhound driver. He returned to driving for the City of Albuquerque in 1992. It was Pete's desire that all his countless friends & family celebrate his life, that each one remember the good times, the special moments, & to keep his memory alive. He did not want anyone to stand over him and cry. Pete did not wish any viewing, or services, he wants to be remembered in everyone's hearts and prayers as he was.

GURULE -- Leonard, Amos, 53, of Albuquerque went with our Lord, Jesus on December 26, 2004. He was born in Canon De Vallecitos in 1951. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gregorita Maria Gurule. He is survived by his daughter, Angeline Marie Gurule; his uncle, Leo DeVargas and wife Lida of Denver, Co; his sisters, Alice Bailey and husband John, Judy brown and husband Bill, Sadie Ortiz and husband Juan of Albuquerque; brothers, Andy Gurule and wife Jenny of Chili, Bobby Gurule and wife Lillian of El Duende, Levi Gurule and wife Jo Anne of Le Alcalde, Dino Gurule of Santa Fe; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leonard was always passionate about art and dancing. He loved life and God and had a heart of gold. His heart allowed him to help others when they were in need, without any hesitation. He served his country as a veteran of the US Army and also received a Bachelor's of Fine Arts From the University of New Mexico, with a double in Chicano studies and the Classics. HAVENS -- Ida G. Havens, 84, passed away on December 28, 2004. Ida was born September 21, 1920 in New York City. She moved to Albuquerque from Baltimore, Maryland in 1957. Ida enjoyed teaching, photography, travel, and particularly loved the ocean. HENRY -- Frank Elwin Henry, 96, died on Monday, December 20, 2004 after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara, and a son, Bill. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Henry, of Hagerstown, MD; three sons, Bob Henry, of Albuquerque, Don Henry and wife, Ann, of Rio Rancho, and Ron Henry of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, D.E. and wife, Billie Henry, of Longview, TX; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Henry, of Albuquerque. Frank was born the second oldest of eleven children. He grew up in Clayton, NM and retired from the New Mexico State Highway Department in 1971. He was also a lifetime member of the local B.P.O.E. HOPKINS -- Jones L. "Hoppy" Hopkins, US Navy Retired, was born March 13, 1928 passed and away Tuesday, December 28, 2004. Jones is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; his son, Edward and grandsons, Matthew, Joseph and James. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Rebecca and Rhonda; his parents Joseph and Fay; and sisters, Georgia and Juanita. He is also survived by sisters, Nancy Kersey and Sue Russell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jones graduated from Albuquerque High in 1946 and immediately joined the United States Navy. After a 20 year career in the U.S. Navy, he retired in 1966 as a Chief Petty Officer. He always considered his time with the Navy as the highlight of his achievements and was quick to reminisce. After retiring from the Navy, he began working for Lovelace Medical Research Center. After a distinguished career, he retired from Lovelace in 1989. Jones was active in the Lions Club, having held several positions. He was also a past Board Member of the Towne Park Homeowners Association. Jones was a supporter of the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta where he was the Crew Chief for the same pilot for over 20 years. Jones will be dearly missed, but his time with us will always be cherished memories. JOHNSON -- Martin T. Johnson, 52, a resident of Rio Rancho, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004. He is survived by his son, Jason Johnson; daughter, April Johnson; mother of his children, Chon Ye Johnson, all of Killeen, TX; mother, Midge Essler and husband, Robert of Arlington, TX; father, J. C. Johnson of Rio Rancho; sister, Cheryl Sullens and husband, Hal of Lexington, KY; brother, Joe Johnson and wife, Lora of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Dawn Monk and husband, John of Waskom, TX; nephews, Wes Sullens of Lexington, KY and Myles Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; step-nephew, Ryan Jenkins of Phoenix, AZ; and he was a great-uncle to Chance Joseph Monk of Waskom, TX. Mr. Johnson was born October 4, 1952 in Moultrie, GA. He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years and after retiring, worked as a carpenter and also in security. KARASH -- Frank Karash, 81, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2004. He was born on October 5, 1924 in Pennsylvania, but he called New Mexico his home for the last 15 years. LAKE -- Betty, L. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Bettie L. Lake, age 80, of Roswell, who passed away December 30, 2004 at her residence. Rev. Archie Echols of First United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Bettie was born June 13, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to LeRoy and Gladys Whitehead. They have preceded her in death. On January 21, 1942, Bettie and Albert Lake were married in Oklahoma City. He survives her at the family home. She is also survived by four cousins. Bettie and Al moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1950, then to Roswell in 1955. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was very active in the community and served as President of Beta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Newcomers Club, Pecos Garden Club, Chaves County Council of Garden Clubs, and Valley View Extension Club. Past Officer and Chairman of Roswell Women's Club Fine Arts Department. She was also a member of St. Mark's Auxiliary, Assistance League of Chaves County, Charter Member of International Society of Artists and Sculptors in Bronze. Bettie enjoyed her artwork painting and bronze sculpturing. She loved her many friends and relatives, traveling and all of what life had to offer. LEVIT -- Norman Bradford Levit, age 83, of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, December 30, 2004 in his home. He is survived by his sons; Lawrence and wife Nilda Pascual, Jerome and wife Kristine Kelsey; granddaughters; Keira and husband Richard Sorrells and Naomi Levit; grandson Joshua Levit, nieces, nephews and friends. He and his recently deceased wife, Lila, moved from Chicago to New Mexico in 1967. Norm was a registered pharmacist since he was 21 years old. Much of his career was spent at the University of New Mexico where he served on the faculty of the College of Pharmacy and was the Associate Director of Radiopharmacy from 1976 to 1982. MILLER -- " O.E.", "Red", Orpheus E. Miller, 93, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2004, a resident of Albuquerque since 1930, coming from Danville, IL. O.E. was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Woods Miller; and his wife of 44 years, Rhea Jerls Miller, who was a longtime teacher at Albuquerque High School. He worked during World War II as an instructor at Cutter-Carr Aviation and at the Tucumcari Glider School. O.E. worked for 70 years in plumbing, contracting and real estate. MOWRY -- Holly Marguerite. A tiny Christmas angel, Holly Marquerite Mowry, was born December 7, 2004, and died December 26, 2004. SANDERS -- Jean Helen Sanders, age 87 and a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004. SORTOR -- Mrs. Ida Bell Sortor died in Albuquerque on Sunday, December 19, 2004. Mrs. Sortor was born on May 27, 1910 to Everett and Fannie (Stephens) Tedder. In 1942, she married Jacob L. Sortor in Anchorage, Alaska. The couple moved to Albuquerque in 1961, where he died in 1976. Eight of her brothers and sisters died earlier. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Schikore; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Clarence Crawford, of Belgrade, Missouri; and many other relatives who loved her dearly. Mrs. Sortor's remains will be buried in Belgrade after January 3.

TAYLOR -- Barbara Ellen Taylor, a resident of Canon, near Jemez Pueblo, passed away on December 25, 2004 with her loving family at her side. VANDERSYS -- Ethel A. Payne Vandersys died Thursday, December 16, 2004 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 90. She was born in Shelby, Michigan on September 14, 1914, to Orin and Mabel Payne. She and her husband, James Vandersys, and her brother Sherman Payne and his wife Emille, moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in February, 1942, to establish Santa Fe Nursery and Greenhouses. She worked side by side with her husband and continued to be involved in the business. They built a home, raised four children and supported them in their activities, were involved in the community, and especially loved having large family gatherings. Ethel is survived by her children; Sharon Mason of Albuquerque, NM; Richard Vandersys and wife, Patricia of Rio Rancho, NM; and Pam Adams and husband, Jay of Silver City, NM. She is fondly remembered as "Opoe" by twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Vandersys in 1998, and by her son, James C. WOOD -- Hazel Luetta Wood, 90, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in a Galveston hospital following a brief illness. Hazel was born on January 31, 1914 in Capulin, NM to Jared and Lecta Toothman. She married James Wood December 24, 1931, and they had two daughters, Betty and Shirley. Hazel served the Lord and served as a role model for her family, living her life according to Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Hazel and James were long-time residents of Raton, NM, and Los Lunas, NM. Hazel recently moved to Kingwood, Texas to reside with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband James; a grandson, Doug Hord of Kingwood, TX; and a granddaughter, Kassi Crites of Midland, TX. WRENN -- Daniel C. Wrenn, formerly of Albuquerque, passed away from emphysema on December 11, 2004, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was laid to rest in Arkansas' Sate Veterans Cemetery on December 15, 2004 with a Navy Honor Guard in attendance. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW Post 401 and a member of the Navy Lakehurst Historical Society. He was retired from A.T.&T. and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He is survived by his his wife of 56 years, Helen; a daughter, Donna of Albuquerque; a son, Jack of Little Rock; a daughter, Sheila and her husband, Dr. John Doyle, of St. Helena, CA and two grandsons, Michael Wrenn and Wayne Doyle.
