TUROWSKY -- Joseph Turowsky, 62, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 of a heart attack. Joseph is survived by his son, Ed Dean. Joe was born May 7, 1942 in Massachusetts. He worked for many years in theater in Boston and Philadelphia. Joe worked in both radio and television in Albuquerque and had worked for Poulin Design Remodeling for the past seven years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that Joe be remembered by donations to the Heart Hospital of New Mexico, 504 Elm NE, Albuquerque 87102.

VILLEGAS -- Anita H. Mrs. Anita H. Villegas, 77, born in Jalisco, Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1953 passed away on August 13, 2004. Mrs. Villegas is the beloved wife of 59 years to Mr. Irineo Villegas. Mrs. Villegas is also survived by her loving children, Esperanza Sauceda and husband, Ernest, Maria Candelaria and husband, Bill, Jose de la Luz Villegas, Carlos Villegas and wife, Sally, Jaime Villegas and wife, Anna, Anna Tapia and husband, Mark; four brothers, Emiliano Herrera and wife, Eva, Fernando Herrera and wife, Maria, Roberto Herrera and wife, Anna and Abelardo Herrera; one sister, Elva Herrera; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Villegas was preceded in death by two sisters, Marina and Carmen and a grandson, Santiago. Mrs. Villegas was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mrs. Villegas will be Sunday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Los Hermanos. A second Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Father Gabriel Paredes at San Jose Catholic Church with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. A final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 at San Jose Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Gabriel Paredes. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Bill Candelaria, Abran Villegas, Michael Sauceda, Andres Villegas, Pedro Villegas and Jacob Villegas. BAKER -- Danny Espinoza Baker, 19, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, August 10, 2004. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Aleane Booker. He is survived by his mother, Diana Espinoza of Compton, CA; father, Billy Booker of Albuquerque; sisters, Angel Baker, Sandra Walker, Sarah Baker, and Angela Baker Billings, all of Albuquerque; grandfather, Robert Booker of Albuquerque; adopted mother called "grandmother" Ruth Baker of Albuquerque; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Danny worked for McDonald's. He was a graduate of Manzano High School. He was past president of the youth department at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. DEVALK -- Ernest "Tickadad" DeValk, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 12, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Judy D. Barnette; grandson, Alan H. Barnette and wife, Rebecca and their children, Cody, Cheyenne and Cassidy; granddaughters, Ann Umberhocker and husband, Rich and their children, Kaylee and Ashlyn, Jennifer Rice and husband, Greg and their children, Hannah, Andrew and Emily, Jo Barnette and her daughter, Bella, Rachel Bailey and husband, Tom and their children, Nasya Barnette, Lauren and Jadyn Bailey, Suzanne Ratchner and husband, Christopher Harmon, Denice Frost and husband, Scott and Amy Barnes and husband, Grover "William" Barnes; and sister, Sophie Luper and her son, Norman Luper and his son, Lane Luper. Mr. DeValk was preceded in death by his wife, Florence DeValk; daughter, Jeanne D. Ratchner; and sons-in-law, Craig A. Ratchner and Jon H. Barnette. He was a member of the Craftsman Club. FRIEDBERG -- Robert (Bob) Allan Friedberg December 28, 1946 - August 8, 2004 Bob Friedberg, 57, died on Sunday, August 8, 2004 in San Pinamar, Canelones, Uruguay. He is survived by his wife, Maria Fernanda Via Migliaro of San Pinamar; his mother, Opal Friedberg of Albuquerque; son, Michael Aaron of Albuquerque; grandsons, Andrew and Marcus; and brothers, Eugene of Wichita, KS and Donald of Albuquerque. A graduate of Sandia High School, Bob graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1969 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering while completing the ROTC program. Commissioned into the Navy, he served in the Republic of Vietnam, flying all over Asia utilizing his skills as an Intelligence Officer. Bob received his Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Wichita State University. Having recently settled in Uruguay, he will be interred at the local cemetery in San Pinamar. Local memorial Services will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church, 8510 Wyoming NE, on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 3:30 p.m.

GAYNOR -- Joseph Patrick Gaynor, 84, born in Lambertville, NJ on October 23, 1919 to parents Joseph Aloysius Gaynor and Sarah Masten Gaynor, died on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Joseph, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes Gaynor; sons, Dennis Gaynor and wife Becky of Albuquerque, and Jim Gaynor and wife Toni of Albuquerque; daughters, Kathy Brady of Portland, OR, Joan Gaynor of Torrance, CA, and Patricia Lloyd and husband Brian of Torrance, CA; grandchildren, Christopher Gaynor, Michael Gaynor and wife Sheri, Lauren Lloyd, Joseph Lloyd, Mathew Gaynor, and Rahanon Elsen; and great-granddaughter, Felicia Elsen. Joseph's surviving sisters are Anna Monaghan of New Hope, PA, Joan Scott of Lambertville, NJ, and Sally McConnell of New Hope, PA. Joseph was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Kooker and his brothers John Gaynor and Donald Gaynor. Joseph was a WWII veteran where he served in the Army Air Corps as a Lieutenant and a Captain in the Air Corps Reserve. He worked as a Group Manager at Sandia National Laboratory for 29 years and retired in 1982. Joseph was fully dedicated to his beloved wife and family. Our families have been blessed and enriched by his love, faith, wisdom, and sense of humor. He lived his life to the fullest and loved to read, cook, play golf, and travel to Spain with his wife, Agnes. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 16, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. HALL -- Kathleen Hall passed away suddenly, on August 11, 2004. She was born to Helen and Harold Blow on May 3, 1938 in New York City. Her parents and a son, Raymond, preceded her in death. Kathy moved to Albuquerque in 1971. She was employed by the University of New Mexico for 20 years retiring from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in 2000. She leaves to mourn her passing twin sons, Bradford and Roger; a sister, Gwendolyn Berkowitz; grandchildren, Helen, Ryan, Raymond Jr., and Keisha; a niece, Dawn Coffman; and nephew, William Ludeker; and a host of loving friends. A memorial to celebrate Kathy's life will be held, Monday, August 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Recreation Hall of Carlisle Plaza Senior Mobile Home Park, 2901 Carlisle Blvd. NE.

KIRKPATRICK -- Matthew William. Our dear friend, Matthew William Kirkpatrick, 95, lovingly known as "Primo" peacefully passed away on August 14, 2004. Matthew was born on April 10, 1909, in Kansas City Kansas. He was the last of 13 children born to Samuel and Beulah Kirkpatrick. He was the grandson of a slave from a North Carolina plantation. The slaves took the name "Kirkpatrick" from the master of the plantation. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, landing in Okinawa in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Matthew made his way to Albuquerque in 1938, and in 1954 befriended Sosimo Padilla, who not only gave him a job, but more importantly, a family. Sosimo and Matthew called each other Primo from then on. Primo is survived by his sister-in-law, Juanita Kirkpatrick from Kansas City, Kansas; Sosimo and Ruth Padilla, Stuart and Veronica Padilla Prager and son, Aaron Prager; Norman and Phyllis Padilla Owens, and son Adam Sanchez; and John and SuzAnne Padilla and children Matthew Padilla, Maria Padilla, and Karli LaCour, and her son Damion. He is also survived by the wonderful and caring staff at Westwind House, his home for the past five years. Visitations will be at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2004, with a prayer service at 8:30 a.m. A military burial will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by: Salazar & Sons Mortuary 400 Third St. SW 247-4124

LOPEZ -- Juan Nepomuceno (Nep) Lopez, 93, passed away on August 12, 2004. He was preceded in death by his most beloved wife, Catalina (Katie) Lopez and his oldest son, Jose Alberto Lopez. Nep was the oldest of twelve children of the late Patricio and Dulcinea Lopez. He was born May 24, 1911 in Socorro, NM. Nep is survived by his children: Terry Lopez-Rivas and husband, Andy; Paul Lopez and wife, Chelo; Nellie Brown and husband, Perley; Cathy Peralta and husband, Vincent and Nep Edward Lopez; his grandchildren: Rick Rivas, Peter Rivas, Kenneth Peralta, Audrey Dolan, Debra Lopez, Randy Peralta, Sean Chavez, Carlos Chavez, Ramon Lopez, Aaron Lopez, Esmaralda Hangas-Lopez and serveral great grandchildren; five sisters and one brother and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Nep was a proud man who loved life and who lived and enjoyed it to the fullest. At the age of 17 he worked as a cowhand on the family ranch. Later in life he planted the most beautiful and bountiful gardens of Chili, corn and a variety of other vegetables. He loved politics and he was a wizard at playing poker. He enjoyed a career in law enforcement where he served his community as a municipal judge, policeman and worked with the city and state police as a radio dispatcher in Socorro County. Nep loved music and wrote several beautiful songs and poems. He wrote several short stories about early New Mexico history. He enjoyed telling his children stories about the wild west when he rode his horse Freckles and the many historical events he witnessed as a young cowboy. We will miss you Cowboy and we will remember that your love for us was always unconditional and look forward to the day when we are united in God's Kingdom. Nep's children wish to thank the Heights Manor Care staff who cared for him. Special thanks to his buddy Carl at Heights Manor Care who made dad's life as comfortable as he could. May God Bless you all for your compassion and hard work. Thank you Saint Jude for favors granted. The family asks that any donations be made to San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro in memory of our daddy. Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 16, 2004 at 7:00 PM at the San Miguel Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17, at 12:00 noon at San Miguel with Father John C. Daniel as Celebrant. Interment will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Rick Rivas, Peter Rivas, Kenneth Peralta, Randy Peralta, Tony Lopez and Rey Carrejo.
